Politics / Re: El-Rufai Backs NSA Azazi's Statement On Boko Haram by dmainboss: 3:59pm On Apr 30, 2012
hercules07:

Of course I read it and made my comments as appropriate on the first page, it is trolls who are trying to deflect criticisms from PDP that I targeted with my response. El-Rufai is a politician who has seen a weakness in the armor of his enemies, he is going to take advantage just as any other person in his shoes should. Azazi is telling us what we all knew, he should have just been more circumspect, he needs to learn from the real politicians.

But you are supporting demdem for trying to distort what Azazi meant for the benefit of his party ACN. While everyone knows the PDP does have a lot of problems, you must understand that some comments by some folks is not necessarily born out of a support for PDP but is based on the fact that PDP is the only national party in Nigeria. To ignore them is foolish. The best approach in to encroach and try to use the platform to effect changes. ACN and CPC are at best useless when it comes to effecting anything in Nigeria. And they arent saints either. They are as corrupt and as evil as PDP.

On the other hand, Azazi statement i believe was pre determined. I dont think he foolichly made them. I think he is trying to start something. I might be wrong but I know why I said so. This all boils down to North trying to stamp their feet and take charge yet again, but someone will have to stand up to them or the country will not move forward. Their insistence on ruling Nigeria has been our undoing right from independence!

TheShopKeeper: The party known as PDP is doing more damage than development for this country.
This just confirms what most people have come to know and understand that this government can't do anything to stop the level of violence.
The NSA guy has spoken well and put his career on the line as a thorough soldier-man who understand how to be critical and be disciplined in dispensing his duties.
Shame on PDP and GEJ apologists here on NL.

You say GEJ apologists like Azazi was indicting GEJ. Why dont you read the text of Azazi's statement instead of stopping at the headlines. #funnystuff

Dont touch one penny of that money until you have answered this simple question.

What do you love to do?

List out at least 3 answers and try and arrange them in order of 1. How much you love it 2. Viability 3. Practicability and 4. profitability. Believe me when I say 1.5m bucks is a huge capital if you know what to do. Please, Please, Please, dont jump into any white elephant dream or Yahoo-like business because someone tells you, you are going to make 50 million in one week oh! You will seriously regret it.

hercules07: @Demdem

Why are you responding to these guys, they are PDP goons whose job is to deflect all criticisms from the party, they always look for someone else to blame, if Buhari had been involved in BH, OBJ will be the one pushing for his arrest, not even GEJ, they all know that BH is PDP and PDP is BH, the mistake Azazi made was to openly say it, they could have just leaked one of the memos to the President on BH issues and same effect would have been achieved, he needs to learn from the Pentagon and the CIA, whenever POTUS does anything they do not like, leaks will start flowing everywhere to let people know who should be blamed.

Did you actually read the text of Azazi's statement or like demdem, you just read the headline. lol

The level of s.tu.p.i.dity here on NL is so alarming. Just reading the response to GEJ's statement makes you wonder what kind of daft youths we have in this country. The kind of statement GEJ is making is the stuff of great men. The level of his wisdom and decorum awes me and some daft guys come here and type bull. This is so revealing. It shows most of you here have never read history books and therefore do not have a clue what and how great leaders and philosophers spoke.

That statement up there is profound is all ramification. It is the stuff only great men can say. The Buhari's of this world cannot say such stuff because they live in a world where men are seen as tools to be used. They understand nothing about the dignity of humanity and the freedoms of men. Every president is loyal to his party as much as he is loyal to his country because his party is part of the country. His party is not made up of aliens. PDP is a representation of Nigerians whether you like it or not. Secondly, that you as an individual dont like PDP doesnt mean the president should reject the party on whose platform he became president and those saying 99% of Nigerians dont like him, I wonder where you got your statistics from. If he contests another election, he will still beat Buhari by a very wide margin. Do you see how many likes he still generates from his Facebook page? You can lie to yourself all you want but he still has one of the biggest following on Facebook in Nigeria. Far ahead of all the noise making activists like El Rufai and Bakare.

You expect GEJ to slander his party or what? Well, I dont expect anything different from this generation of disloyal Nigerians whose words are not what a bowl of soup. A man that doesnt understand the principles of loyalty and follower-ship cannot be taken seriously. Only a good follower can be a good leader. Some of you have been so bastardized by the military mentality of the 90s that you cannot think straight anymore. You now want a dictator as a president and think that talking bullish arrogance is what qualifies one as a leader. No wonder you take Buhari seriously.

What a country!

How can these committees work or how can there he any serious judicial reforms when Salami is an ACN 'member' and a fraud? And you lot defend Salami and celebrate him. At least it was GEJ that chased Ibori away and landed him in this mess.

When exactly did MTN made the confirmation? who did MTN confirm to? who represented MTN in the confirmation (someone must have represented MTN)? is it a press release? can we get a copy or a link to the press release? Tribune should do more to get some of us convinced.

Cant you see that was a court proceeding? Do you need someone to explain that to you? Please try go back to school.

The guys read the story delibrately slowly and picked a hole in the story.grin

If you leave this thread for another year...Ladies will still believe the story the way they read it and the guys will take this story in shreads and make a mockery of the whole piece.

Funny how God created us. This story obviously has a huge hole in it. Will be very difficult to believe as is.......let's wait and see.

There is no huge hole in the story. Most of you who live in diaspora are so uninformed about Nigeria. The major reason for kidnapping in Nigeria is not for ransom but for rituals. The ritual thing is so rampant in Nigeria now. This story is simply a case of kidnapping for rituals. In this case, they didnt need the guys dead, the rituals required them to be alive. That was why they were pouring fetish substance on them. These things are why we are still struggling as a country. It is very sad

The Onus is on you to disprove my claims. i said it the way it is. at least i credited him about bringing facebook to Nigeria and not allowing some previous policies started before him to die. what else do u want from me? how balance could i have been?
U talk about Obama, are u saying republican Bush started work on the health care bill (now before the court) before Obama? Then why is it that repulblicans still dont like this law?

Am not saying GEJ is idling around in Aso rock, all what i meant was he has left the most important and pressing issues and now chasing shadows. he has what we call misplaced priorities. One would have expected you talk about his accomplishment so far as far as corruption is concerned in this country which is our primary challenge. are u aware that when the president started his tenure, his first bill to NASS was about tenure elongation? what does that suggest?

Sometimes i dont understand how some of you articulate issues here on NL. Let me make it simple.

First, policies are not designed by presidents. there are people in government normally employed to do that. the onus is on the sitting president to implement it. the health care bill has been on for nearly fifty years.

Secondly corruption is not and has never been Nigeria's primary problem. corruption is a result of the primary problem. Our primary problem is true federalism. solve it and curruption will be solved. Cant you see there is far less corruption in countries with single languages. do your research.

You cannot claim to give someone credit when you keep sliping in buts into it.

The single term of six years was a very fundamental restructuring move that should have helped redefine Nigeria. Its called, solving a problem from its root, not its head. Its a pity people attacked it. It just like the subsidy issue. We will still come back to these issues in the future.
Politics / Re: CPC Statement On Buhari's 2015 Candidacy by dmainboss: 1:13am On Apr 15, 2012
Actually and contrary to what some of you say here, not all Nigerians hate the PDP. if you are from Akwa Ibom or Rivers or Enugu for example, you wouldnt have an issue with PDP. Jonathan is not your macho kind of leader that oozea maximum charisma, but the policies he is putting in place will transform Nigeria and totally wipe out the opposition if allowed to stand and the opposition knows it. I dont actually like the thought of that because Nigerian leaders have a history of becoming slack without strong opposition. Fashola's second term is a typical example

Will you stop saying bullshit? the work was started by Yaradua and had to stop when he died, so what are you blabbing about? it was started in 2007 and not even last year, this means you are not even in Nigeria.

Again another blunder powered by hate. Work did not start there in 2007. Work had been going on there since 2001. That road was the major reason Obj fell out with Anenih. But nothin serious was done till 2010. Oshiomole confronted the minister of works last year on that road and it was all over the media. Yaradua did nothing in Nigeria not to talk of fixing a road in benin-ore. We all accepted his health was bad. The pictures of the road as at 2010 are all over Nairaland

The major work on Benin-Ore road just got finished last december after intense work from late 2010. Oshiomole even complained mid last year about the road. They just put final touches in March. Please remind me when Yaradua passed away again?

It is interesting to note that while the GEJ haters are busy blabbing, the man is turning out to be the best president we ever had. Making key fundamental changes that past leaders including Buhari could not make.

Electoral Act, changed.
FOI bill done.
Official secrets act, repealed.
PHCN act changed.
PHCN discentralised.
States giving the power to generate power and earn revenue.
Railway act, changed and thrown open to private sector.

Under his watch:
Conducted about the freest election in Nigerian history.
Fixed the accursed Benin-Ore road.
Overseen the Niger Delta amnesty and brought peace to the region.
Over 26,000 militants in training around the world, something that will totally transform the ND.
First Nigerian president that directly interacts with Nigerians.
Started major reforms in the educational and agricultural sectors.

These are the ones I can mention. the only areas he needs to step up are the fight against terrorism and oil industry reforms. All the others I mentioned are on course and he just needs to maintain momemtum and they will bear major fruits very soon. All this he has achieved even in the face of forces bent on derailing him.

I look forward to seeing the faces of these haters come 2015. It will be so satsfying. I remember Buhari in 1985. In his 20 months rule. he had zero clue. All he tried to do was turn Nigeria into Afghanistan where women were flogged on the streets because of how they dressed, all in the name of fighting indispline. He had no plan, no policy and couldnt even address the nation because his english was catastrophic. Idiagbon did most of the talking then and was regarded as the real president. Back then, we all knew Buhari to be a figure head. I can never forget it.

Politics / Re: PDP Vows To Dislodge ACN From Southwest. Dream Of The Century! by dmainboss: 8:29pm On Apr 11, 2012
The only thing I would like to contribute here is why do ACN folks keep saying nothing good can come out of PDP? Is it that they only read Yoruba newspapers and magazines? The best governors in Nigeria are still PDP. Donald Duke and Godswill Akpabio are still far ahead of Fashola and Oshiomole. Not to mention Chime and Amaechi. I think like someone said above, these ACN peeps probably think south west is Nigeria. They need to broaden their view and see that Nigeria is far bigger than they think. With the present setup and the way things are going, Akwa Ibom and Rivers would explode in the next few years. The biggest port in Africa and the longest bridge in Africa is about to commence in Akwa Ibom and anyone who has been following Akpabio knows he doesnt play games.

my fingers crossed!
Business / Re: GTB, FIDELITY, UBA Card: Which Is The Best For Online Payment? by dmainboss: 1:00am On Apr 07, 2012
One problem in Nigeria is that people can just go on these band wagon and you will think they are saying fact. That is why they are all suffering the MTN pain till today. Ask many MTN users and they will still tell you MTN is the best. Meanwhile, they havent ever used other networks.

Like someone said above. All VISA or Master Cards are the same. It doesnt matter which bank. The only difference is the availability of the host server. I was at a GT Bank branch with 5 ATM machines the other day and only one was working. I went to clear a cheque in January and spent an hour and half on the queue at GT Bank, Opebi branch. When you come here and read some posts, you wonder if they are not paid adverts. All Naija banks suck. You can talk of best in certain areas but you must use the right criteria.

For example, first bank is the first to start using debit cards and having them accepted outside Naija. In fact, they held the franchise for Mastercard for many years. UBA where the first to start using Visa outside Naija followed by Eko bank. I dont know where all the talk about GTBank came from but they are quite young and just trying to catch up.

Its just like recently when GTBank announced they have started using ATM to receive cash and these same peeps here on NL went on a frenzy praising GT for their innovative bla bla. Meanwhile, First bank have the been doing it six months before GT started. Naija is a place where people use media power to try to deceive people. Thats what MTN did over the years. Great adverts and a lot of hype. The most stable bank in Naija is First bank and the only bank that is not likely to go down in a crisis. Every other bank is hanging by the thread. I remember when first bank lost 18billion during the IIL GSM bidding debacle and they didnt even shake. If you travel round Naija, especially if you go to smaller towns, you will see banks are mostly available in this order.

First bank if only one bank exist
First and UBA if 2 banks exist
First, UBA and Intercontinental (now access) if 3 banks
First, UBA, Intercontinental and Oceanic (now Eko) if 4 banks

After that, you start to see Zenith, GTB and the rest. I hear Access have closed many branches so their branch network may not be that available anymore.

Just thought I should throw in a little light because we like to hype a lot in Naija

As much as you might like or dislike Obj, the fact is, he never asked anyone for third term. and there is no proof he did. Saying some senators. were offered Ghana must go does not in anyway prove anything.

And to hear some senators coming. out to say they rejected such huge sums because of their conscience is laughable. Isn't it these same thieving senators and reps? That are robbing us blind? When did they finally develope a conscience? funny.

The truth is if baba really wanted a third term, he could have done it. Like him or hate him but he is the strongest Nigerian alive. Without him the country could have split by now. No other Nigerian commands respect from North to south like OBJ. He is the only national leader in Nigeria today. All other leaders are sectional leaders.

He probably nurtured the thought and maybe kept mute to observe public opinion but those are not in any way evil and every man has a right to think or imagine anything. And there is no proof he directly or indirectly made moves to push it.

It is cowardly not to be able to acknowledge a fact just because. you don't like the person involved. I did post on a thread about 2 months back that for the first time is over 20 years, I travelled to Benin without changing lanes. This is very unusual because. of the bad roads. Now the road is good. There are definitely a few areas that need some touch but most of the road is very good now. Trying to now give the credit to Obj or Yaradua is very cowardly. You should not be ashamed to give this present government its credit. You won't die, trust me. But you should also demand more. Lets commend them and demand more.

Seun, with all due respect, the reason the jamb site goes down is not just down to bad script. I have been a programmer for over 15 years and i know what am saying. Its a combination of several factors including hosting. in fact load balancing is a major factor. even if you write the best script in the world, if you don't host it on the right server or tweak the environment, it will still crash. one funny thing i find with many programmer is they do not understand nada about production level applications development. they tend to see everything from a geeks perspective. some don't even understand basics like database normalization and flow structure. a script to search for jamb result is a very simple script that can be done in 4hours. but jam must have the right. hosting and tweaking to make it rock.
