Foodqueen:
My aproko chicken.

I av been rearing chicken in my compound for consumption for the past six years before I decided to monetize it last year.

I av been able to understand when chicken cluck for food. When they are searching for each other, but never really know that they use it for communication too.

The first sets of chick I bot this year, I particularly took note of a cockerel, cos it was small and was exceptionally smart.

I bot cartoon of broiler, 5pieces of cockerel and 2 turkey.

I kept two cockerel and the two turkey to be roaming the compound and picking left overs.

I took interest in the smallest cockerel cos I observed that even though,it was small, it was the smartest among my chick even as at two weeks. They will be 3 months this month.

Unlike the turkeys that do come to the entrance of my shop sometimes, the cockerels really never came.

Some days ago,the cockerel came to the entrance of my shop and was clucking repeatedly in a sound I av never really heard before.

Immediately, I knew it was trying to communicate. I stood up and I immediately went to check where i put my broilers, I discovered one of the turkey was inside the broilers room. I drove it out.

Yesterday, it came again clucking repeatedly, I went outside and discovered one of the broiler was struck in between the door and was in distress.

I rescued it and it's fine now.

I never really taken note of chick like this.

I am not sure, I am ever killing this chicken o.

You must be an animal lover to be so meticulous about their sounds and what they represent. I believe I'm one too. And maybe someday I would became a vegan cos my love for animals grows everyday.
But for now, I still heavily salivate at the sight of grilled chicken. smiley wink

Family / Re: This 35 Year-old Lady Needs Your Advice As She Plans To Get Married by DRPAIT123(m): 1:34pm On Jun 02, 2023
Fineman2:
My name is Dora. I am 35 years old and everybody keeps reminding me that age is no longer on my side. My fiance and I have been dating for more than one year and we are getting married soon. My fiance is 40 years old and he has never been married. The relationship was really good when we started but now that our wedding is in a few weeks time, he has shown how controlling he can be. From the choice of the wedding dress, to the bridesmaids selection, to the colour of the day, he wants to be in charge. He also wants his mum to buy the cloth for our engagement as well as buy our wedding ring. He does whatever his family says without seeking my opinion and it almost seems as if I am not the one getting married. I told my parents about how this makes me feel and they just asked me to endure because I am getting older but I really fear for what is going to happen after the wedding. Are these not red flags I should run from?

I am confused, please advise me.

You're in a very precarious situation.
Your fears are very logical. How can one get married to a man who has to run to his family members before he can decide on what to do?! He prolly doesn't understand what marriage is since he's never been married before even at his age or maybe he's grown too dependent on his people.
The normal theory is, if you proceed with the marriage, you should expect his family to always have the final say on some of the important moments in your life.
I'm not saying one should cut off his people when it's time to settle down but a good man must know what should remain between himself and his bride, and what his family can jump into.

Celebrities / Why Does It Take NL Mods Forever To Push Posts To FP? by DRPAIT123(m): 7:54am On May 20, 2023
I have been a large consumer of the posts and news on NL for several years now and I have noticed some changes in the modus operandi of the platform lately.

Take as an example, it's 7:40am and there hasn't been a new post on FP, for anyone who knows what I'm hinting at, this is a misnomer.
New posts are usually push to FP daily as early as 6:30am, or latest by 7:00am. I'm not trying to pin this on the mods but I'm only seeking to know why this is happening. Is it a change that was just incorporated? I need answers, and I'm sure I'm not the only one here.

Another part of my post is directed to know the reason why the mods sometimes push stale news articles that have happened for more than three days ago to FP. It's been happening way too often to be an oversight. This acts reeks of incompetence, esp for a forum that is serving millions of Nigerians and several other West African nationals.

This is not me apportioning blames to anyone, I'm only worried about the new state of things here. I believe the Mods and the forum owner, Seun Osewa can definitely do better than this.

I hope this gets to the constituted authorities.

They sold it to us for 1k.

Whatever you go, do not be tempted to buy a used phone online. The top life span of most used phones is very low. Some of them have underlining issues being the reason why the former owner wanted to sell them off.
And you can even get police on your tail if you buy a stolen product inadvertently.
Having a receipt may not be enough to prove your innocence with the Nigeria Police, they are just no respecter of formality.

You got the dog's breed wrong, it's actually Boerboel not boa bull.
It's a serious case, to some of us who happen to be passionate animal lovers, dogs are not just mere creatures that can be discarded at will. There is a high tendency for some people to have a strong bond with their furbabies and it's completely normal.
Tell your man that you should start feeding the dog (with his supervision of course). Dogs tend to get close to whoever is giving them good care and attention. It won't take too long before the dog stops getting territorial around you.

Crime / Re: Share Your Experience About Being In A Cell Or Prison by DRPAIT123(m): 6:45pm On Apr 01, 2023
I'm curious to find answers to a few questions though.
Where do inmates pee and defecate if there are no proper toilets?
Also, are there special prisons for notable persons in the society and corrupt politicians?
Also, are there prison facilities for those awaiting trials, or do such people also get banged up in the prisons for convicted criminals?
Are there functioning juvenile delinquencies for minor offenders in Nigeria? Emphasis is on "functioning"?

The cell compartments that I have seen in movies usually have ridiculously tiny windows, how do claustrophobic people cope without freaking out? This is by far my biggest fear. I have a crazy anxiety that stems from the fear of being kept in an insanely closed space.

How do inmates cope during the heat seasons when everywhere is just so hot esp in prisons up north where free citizens are literally burning out in their private residences even with their giant windows?

I would be grateful to find answers to the above questions. Kindly help!

Family / Re: Is Spanking A Child Good Or Bad? by DRPAIT123(m): 8:37am On Mar 23, 2023
....

The rod of discipline as the bible puts it IMO only has the end goal of modeling and correcting a child; this must not be achieved by spanking at all cost.

I understand that the concept of spanking has been adopted by Africans for a long time now and many people now see it as the one and only way to making an erring child turn a new leaf but that is when it all gets defective, dogmatically conservative and close-minded.

Spanking is just one of the many ways by which a child can be corrected and we as Africans must not be oblivious of that fact.

I won't say spanking does not work but I'd like to believe that there are better ways of handling things.

In short, I won't be subjecting my future kids to extreme torture in the name of seeking corrective measures. And just so you know, they will still turn out fine and even better.

I had classmates way back in my primary and secondary school days who were thoroughly flogged consistently for being obstinate and they never changed just cos they were beaten.

The logic should not be to spank by all means but to get the needed results using the best available approaches.

Truvelisback:
It has been underrated. For example: A guy or lady may boldly and stylishly carry a loaf of bread or 2 packs indomie noodles or some eggs abt but if it is garri, he may not do so. Even if he wants to, he would triple the Celophene or even fourple it, so that no one would notice. grin
Your submission is apt but I have a correction to make.
"Fourple" is not a word in the English dictionary, the right word is actually quadruple.
Sports / Messi Vs Ronaldo: The Dangers Of Untamed Rivalry. by DRPAIT123(m): 1:42pm On Dec 19, 2022
The Dangers of Untamed (Unhealthy) Rivalry.

Last night, Messi once again engraved his football legendary in the monolith of time.

I came into the just concluded 2022 World Cup rooting for France to be crowned the back-to-back champion, even though I'm a Ronaldo fan.
Maybe it has something to do with me not believing so much in the Portuguese team or it was conceived out of my admiration for Kylian Mbappe.

Unlike me, several other fans of Cristiano Ronaldo threw their weights behind him.
They wanted the man whom they reverence as the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) to lift the much-coveted international silverware; just like several other Messi fans aspired.

In the long run, the Portuguese team was eclipsed by a more brilliant Moroccan side, all thanks to the 42nd-minute chance that was rightly converted by Moroccan leadman Y. En-Nesyri.

The Argentine team made its way to the final after an apparently sloppy start saw the team lose to the proudly sponsored Saudi players.

Let me cut to the chase already.

Yesterday's Argentine victory showed the sealing of an eventful resilience and ushered gladness into the heart of the person of Leo Messi, the Argentine squad and its citizenry, including the entire Messi Supporters all across God's Green Earth.

All that said, amid the gyration and celebration were another set of people on the opposing end of the spectrum, feeling dejected, extremely melancholic, and (maybe) hatefu!.

Yes, I get that you're a CR7 fan, but should you necessarily seek Messi's downfall just to elevate Ronaldo's relevance?!
I know someone who couldn't eat last night out of sheer dissatisfaction with Messi lifting the World Cup.

I doubt that things really have to unfold this way.

I call it the dangers of untamed rivalry.

I get that healthy rivalry is good for constant self-evaluation, motivation and drive, but when it gets a little too much, it may begin to reveal a latently heinous side, that is bad for humanity.

As a CR7 fan, I congratulate Messi and everyone who loves and cherishes his impact so far in the football world.
You guys rocked big time last night.

In my own mind, we as football lovers can love and respect these duo while showing our affection for any of them, without generating ill feelings amongst ourselves.

One just needs to be very careful while dealing with people, even the ones who seemingly appear to be too innocent to wreck havoc.
Imagine, a physically challenged woman plotting a diabolical move like this.
I know several Nigerians would have falsely accused the Prophet without having a concrete evidence. I wonder what they have to say now.

Based on what u wrote, the English were the first to reach America and they created the New England region. The Dutch followed suit and formed places like Wisconsin, New York and more. While the French formed the areas of Illinois, Michigan, New Orleans. These Europeans developed these regions after decimating the native inhabitants called the Red Indians who were very primitive. And this is why they bear the name United States because they were formed by different nations. So together they decided to resist paying taxes to their brothers in England and hence the American Revolutionary War which birthed the US of America. In fact the Americans declared themselves independent by forming their constitution and defeating their British brothers through the surrender of General Cromwell of Britain to General George Washington of America who happened to become America’s first elected president. No one granted the US their independence because the US was just like a branch of Europe or Britain. Major reason the US is not part of the commonwealth of nations.

Thanks for the history lesson chief. I will make further readings some other time.
