Every business has problems. What matters is how a business deals with its problems. If W4A hasn't been dealing with its problems to a reasonable degree they would have been forced to sign off the industry. If a business doesn't encounter any problems in its lifetime, that is a problem in itself.

When you have no idea what happens behind the stage of a business, try not to go upstage addressing its audience.

Graphicplus, if you do not have useful info or personal experience about W4A and its services its best not to cause any confusion presenting personal preferences as standards.
Webmasters / Re: My Sql Foreign Key by Dual Core: 8:43am On May 08
I don't think that can be achieved with foreign keys. Infact what you want to do beats the need for a relational database. A relational database is one where tables relate to each other (using primary/foreign keys) and no two tables should contain the same chunk of information. In clear terms, you should build your database in such a way that information is central to one place and not redundant.

You can do some Google'ing and also await other responses from people who may have something better to offer.
Webmasters / Re: Smart Web NG Review ( Every Webhost Have Its Own Bad And Good Side) by Dual Core: 10:06am On May 07
georgen2u: Guys i was about to rate Smart web 5 stars till i saw this review
http://www.onlynaija.com/post-smartweb-ng-web-hosti?action=lastpost
I dont know how reliable it is but i think the reviewer has more exprience with them as i saw some attached proof

Considering the fact:

1. That you created a thread in the past looking for moderators for onlynaija.com
2. That you have a couple of posts about afripals.com
3. That onlynaija.com's authorative email (whois records) is support@afripals.com
4. That onlynaija.com is not in the first 10 SERPs of Google for "smartwebng reviews"
And finally (the hammer on the nail):
5. That the post in the link you have provided was made by "Joshua" who's forum signature there is "I am Just Joshygeorge" and your name here is also George.

I put it to you that you are childish.

If you want traffic to your forum simply say it.
Webmasters / Re: What Is Wrong With Trudigits These Days? by Dual Core: 2:20pm On May 03
We've been in business for 5 years and started out on AMD processors. It was easy to upgrade to Intel Dual Core processors when we had close to 200 domains. It was not so difficult to up our bars to Intel Quad Core servers when we had just about 500 domains.

As of last week we were powering over 2000 domains spread across Shared Hosting, Reseller and Virtual Private Servers and there was need for an upgrade.

Every customer of TruDigits was sent a maintenance notification as usual as we had to take all nodes to the Intel Xeon servers with 1GBPS ports. We underestimated the process and scheduled it for last weekend (Satruday and Sunday). However this process spilled into Tuesday as we had to deal with "special" cases where some VPS clients appealed for us to push the migration of their servers from the weekend for reasons such as the JAMB exams and the high traffic they will be getting at such periods.

Well during the whole time we did not respond to tickets because the tickets being sent were about issues we were aware of, we had already said we were carrying out a major migration. So we waited until we finished the entire processes and face the tickets and alas most of the problems reported were not even there anymore as expected.

The "red warning" you see there talks about cPanel License being a trial license. First of, the warning is no longer there. Let me explain why you saw that. We were migrating your domains from fully licensed cPanel servers unto servers that had no cPanel license initially. When the switch was done, we re-issued the cPanel licenses for the old servers unto the new servers and now the new servers are fully licensed. It won't be cost effective to begin purchasing new cPanel licenses for over 30 servers when we could re-issue those licenses on the old servers once they were decommissioned.

As for our phone lines, they have been very busy and the only time you will not receive a response is if you're on call-waiting. We've never ignored calls and we've never switch off the phone line even at some points when all technical hell break loose on them servers.

The Livechat will be back online from Monday, May 6.

Personally I am proud of every client of TruDigits because they are very understanding and cooperative.

So people, on behalf of Sluvy's crush Rachel, the very shy Frank, the not so technical but highly business minded Charles and the overworked and highly underpaid me, I say sorry for the troubles you have had over the past few days. I am sure all your sites are up now as they are being monitored, tickets are still being answered as of this moment so please be patient. If any isn't up please create a ticket.

There's a very high unlikelihood that you missed the domain webhosti.ng to another user who thought of it at the same time as you did. You just got ripped off by some inside job, in my opinion. Strictly my opinion.

NIRA is not down, a couple of .ng domains were registered yesterday without issues.

Webmasters / Re: Help! How To Pull Data From Database And Display On A Webpage by Dual Core: 7:35am On Apr 12
The name remained same for both divs because they are in the same WHILE loop. You're calling the $row['name'] variable twice in the same loop so you should expect for the same thing to be displayed twice. The $row['name'] only changes per loop. Put one div per loop and give div a class name. In css float:left the div class and that will pull the divs beside each other. To ensure you have just two divs on one row set the container width to be no lesser than 2 times the div width and no greater than 3 times the div width.

Sorry for getting banned, you can talk to the mods about that.

Webmasters / Re: Help! How To Pull Data From Database And Display On A Webpage by Dual Core: 7:16am On Apr 09
I can't spot any problems or errors with your code. The data you are pulling out in the while loop is going to be stored in the $row[] array. So if you have a field like "name" to get that field for every while loop it will be $row['name'].

Where exactly are you stuck?

I will take out some time shortly to compile it and put it up here. (I must have said this before).

Webmasters / Re: Help Wt Registration Form Submission by Dual Core: 8:59pm On Mar 19
I slightly remember facing this kinda situation some centuries back, when I did a form with Publisher, Frontpage or one of those other phoney webdesign "tools".
I think the form action is a "mailto:your email address". The "mailto" automatically calls up your default mail client, which in your case is MS outlook and brings up an empty Compose window for you prefilling the "To" section with the email address that was giving as argument to the "mailto".

To the solution:
Use Google to learn how PHP can work with HTML to send mails to your inbox. Its quite straightforward, if you're not in a hurry to learn.

Puzuwe, there's still a lot of cleaning to do on that site other than what the OP pointed out (which you have cleaned without even a Thank you).

Here's one of the many more:

That link has two occurrences of the word "voguepay", as it was a copy paste job. Voguepay should sue you.

Seun: @Dual Core:
Do you really think it would take me more than 5 seconds to make those links open in new tabs if I thought it was the right thing to do? What sort of nincompoop do you think I am? Do you think a person can build a site this successful and be too "mediocre" to know about target = _blank? I want to believe you are merely trolling.
Seun stop the back and forth movement and state in clear terms why you think you are doing the right thing. This is not about your being able to implement this in code, it is about your decision to implement it or not. Did you see me mention target=_blank as a suggestion in my first post? As said earlier, I am not concerned directly. I decide where links are opened using the Ctrl+Tab button combo or even faster using my mouse scroll click.

Reminds me of some "wow" DJ over the weekend rocking to songs he was playing while the majority of the people in the joint were like..."what dahuh?". Wetin "consign" DJ and the few people wey understand him mindset when he does stunts like shifting from Azonto'ish songs blending Don William'ish songs into it? ....as far as he's concerned, he's doing "the right thing". Thankfully one could decide to walk out or endure it.

saving the advertiser some money is noble but on the real who really gives a f4uuck. I'm with the 99.9% that think Life's too short as it is to run up some seconds cutting cost aka taking panadol for another person's headache.
I try not to waste people's money. It doesn't take anything from me. Life's too short so let everyday count as a satisfactory one. Hope you're doing very okay now... still waiting for the wedding date. I don't know much as I haven't been on FB for a long while.
Webmasters / Re: Nairaland Ads Should Open In A New Tab/window by Dual Core: 9:55pm On Mar 17
The link finally opened o and really I don't see how the link works in your defense because usability all boils down to behavior and you can see (from the comments) people will rather have an extra tab opened that have their present work cut short by a different page loading on the same tab (which is in Nairaland's case going to be about a totally different subject matter from the thread the person was on).

Its very easy to click on one of the ads on Nairaland now and just sigh if the service rendered is not useful to you and you just use the vex take close the tab. What have you done? You have closed the tab that holds the history to the Nairaland thread you were on before the ad took it.

Think this thing through with your people, I'm not directly concerned obviously.
Webmasters / Re: Nairaland Ads Should Open In A New Tab/window by Dual Core: 9:47pm On Mar 17
Seun: What's your comment about the second link?
Probably my internet connection is playing a trick on me tonight as that link seems to be unreachable. However my comment to you is to do the right thing once and stop scouring the net for some freak's blog post just to defend the mediocrity as shown in the issue at hand. Up till now that link is still not loading. I will check it up at a later time. Usability is not learned from a blog post, it's learned from your user feedback.
Webmasters / Re: Nairaland Ads Should Open In A New Tab/window by Dual Core: 9:44pm On Mar 17
trae_z:

Omo you like long thing oh. What happened to right clicking and opening in a new tab?
No bro, you missed my point. You know these ad banners are not anchored to the direct link, they are anchored to a trackable link which when clicked leads to the advertised site. For nairaland the trackable link has the advertised site's domain in it so instead of adding to the statistics of those who have viewed an advertised site without conversion I prefer to filter the domain out of the link and open it directly. I use the same approach for Google ads, in their case the advertised site's URL is at a corner of the ad banner so I just type in the URL straight into my address bar instead of clicking the ad, thereby saving the advertiser some money should he be on a Cost per Click campaign.
Webmasters / Re: Nairaland Ads Should Open In A New Tab/window by Dual Core: 9:26pm On Mar 17
Seun: http://www.webcredible.co.uk/user-friendly-resources/web-usability/new-browser-windows.shtml
Seun you have to be living in the 19th century if any of your browsers's response to a target=_blank is to open a new window. What sane browser isn't tab-oriented? Mehn you're so backward on this one. Case closed.
Webmasters / Re: Open Letter To Payfas Payment Processor by Dual Core: 11:15am On Mar 17

Webmasters / Nairaland Ads Should Open In A New Tab/window by Dual Core: 9:43am On Mar 16
I think someone raised a topic like this, I can't find it but I know I pulled some comedy on that thread and left it... partly because I wasn't concerned as I do not click the small boxes. If an ad catches my interest I just mouseover it and filter the domain name from the URL and type it into my address bar directly, on a new tab (so I don't add to the number of page views without conversion).

Well today I mistakenly clicked on one and it loaded on the same tab. That's really not nice and breaks my user experience.

Yes:
There is no hard and fast rule saying ads should open in a new tab/window
We are aware of the back button on all browsers

However, it breaks tradition. One of the key factors of user experience is consistence with the norms or conventional things. Web users are used to clicking on ads without interrupting their present workflow. I am yet to see the advantage of having an ad load on the same page that's worth sacrificing my user experience for.
