Celebrities / Re: List Of Top 10 Comedians In Nigeria by ebera(f): 2:53am On Feb 19, 2015
zick19:
Laughter they say is a good medicine, isn't that true? At times, you might find yourself in a melancholic mood but i bet you when you watch these guys perform, you will surely laugh out your sorrow. Here are my list of the top 10 comedians in Nigeria:

10 Alibaba: Ali Baba’s real name is Alibaba Akporobome and he is popularly called the Grand Comedian of the Federal Republic (GCFR), a title he carved out for himself as not only the Father of all Comedians but the best in his field. Ali Baba is said to be the very man who invented the concept of Stand Up Comedy in Nigerian History. This great feats has taken him inside Aso Rock as he no longer crack jokes for the masses as it were but for top Shots. He is also an Event pioneer and MC for most top celebrations in Nigeria; ranging from the Presidency to other Political figures in and outside the country.

9 ulius Agwu: Julius is one of the few comedians with a future to serve their state. Julius Agwu has also carved a niche for himself in the Comedy sphere. He goes by the nickname “Julius d’ Genius” He also delves in to music with his very brand called “Reel Liaf Band” He has also notified his intentions to be the next Governor of his state after the people of Rivers “verbally told him to”

8 Saka: hehehe.... Yerr. You all remember Uncle Saka. Ok, he was the former Etisalat Ambassador that port to MTN in a whooping N20million deal. He sand the song “I Don Port go MTN” that left many Etisalat fans devastated as to why their Icon would PORT to MTN. lol. Etisalat is yet to recover from this action. Uncle Saka unlike the other listed Comedians is not a stand-up Comedian but in his very way happens to be one of the favorite comedian in the Nigerian sphere. he is a Lecturer, a Singer and an MTN Ambassador currently.

7 Gordons: Gordons is definitely one of the most hilarious Comedian in Nigeria with his self-composed jokes especially his flair for Ministry-Based jokes “movement to the permanent site” and his steady slang of often saying “Hallelujah” in between jokes.
Gordons who calls himself Comedy Barlusconi under the ODP political party (Osusu Democratic Party) is just a natural. He has released many joke compilations likewise under his Gordons Comedy Klinic Wards.

6 AY: Ayo Makun happens to be one of the most creative comedian in Nigeria with his AY LIVE lines of Entertainment. AY as many calls him is not just a Stand-up comedian; he is an Entertainer, an Actor, a Musician and a TV host of his popular who wants to be a Billionaire which often features other comedians especially Bovi. He has acted his mini-movies with top celebrities like Genevieve Nnaji, Tonto Dikeh, Nadia Buhari and many more.

5 Seyi Law: Seyi Law is said to be Gordons’ partner in crime as he displays the same agility as Gordons when on stage. His mini-skits in which he played Jesus Christ on the way to be crucified while he carried a cross and been flogged has won many audience over the years too.

4 I go die: This guy is dope. If you ever sit under his Comedian influence, you will laugh your ribs out with his fast-mouth kind of comedy as he often takes on his guest and those in the crowd. Known for his funny jokes on poverty, politics with his off-colour suits – He lies too. E.g I Go dye will tell the crowd “i was in UK recently to see Barack Obama” We all know Barack Obama is in USA!!! or He was in Aso Rock last week to see President Jonathan to discuss his ambition to run for Presidency!! lol. He’s a real rib cracker and natural.

3 Apkororo: This guy is damn funny. He once made it known of his intention in adding Dettol to his enemies soup and his fans were like “WHAT!!!”. Akporo is a Stand-Up comedian who also diversifies and often delves into music.

2 Bovi: Bovi Ugboma, who goes by the stage nameBovihas over the years aligned himself with other comedians as he climbs the comedy ladder in greatness. The Benin City Born Comedian is known for popularizing the words Akpos in most of his jokes and just so you know, Bovi is not just a comedian as many thought; he has been in the NollywoodIndustry acting funny 30-mins plays before finally switching to Comedy full time. I remember him cracking a joke on basketmouthabout God telling basketmouth to “go to hell” on Judgement day. Basketmouth was seen almost climbing the stage immediately with bottles to break his head.

1 Basketmouth: Oh Yes!!! If you don’t know who Basket Mouth is, then you are not in this great country of ours. Well, many dubbed him the king of Comedy for his natural physics especially as a stand-up comedian and his frequent mini-movies in collaboration with other artiste, musicians and comedians alike. He’s a Glo Ambassador with a difference.
His real name is Bright Okpocha and he’s also won the heart of many other African nations like Ghana.

Feel free to add urs

Basketmouth is dead..

He shld be the last on the list...

Education / ASUU Go Back To School ‘cos FG Has Acceded Your Request – Okonjo Iweala by ebera(f): 10:23pm On Nov 26, 2013
The Coordinating Minister for the
Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr
Ngozi Okonjo‑Iweala, weekend,
appealed to the striking university
lecturers to call off the strike and
resume teaching.
She said this after she and the
Governor of the Central Bank of
Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi
bagged doctorate honorary doctorate
degrees at a private university,
Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu in
Osun State.
The Ooni of Ife , Oba Okunade
Sijuwade, according to the Vice
Chancellor, Professor Adeleke
Ogunwale, nominated the two
eminent Nigerians for the award as
part of activities marking the maiden
convocation of the institution which
produced 18 first class graduates out
of 166 that graduated.
Dr. Iweala was awarded honorary
Doctor of Science in Accounting, her
counterpart was honoured with
Doctor of Science in Economics.
The ceremony attracted important
dignitaries like the Ooni of Ife , Oba
Sijuwade who was represented by his
wife, Chief Mojisola Sijuwade; the Pro
Chancellor/Chairman, Governing
Council, Dr. Adegoke Adedoyin,
among others.
She said: “We are indeed saddened by
the death of Professor Iyayi. I appeal
to ASUU to go back to school in the
interest of students, their parents,
because the Federal Government has
acceded to their requests.”
The Minister said this just as she
clarified that the shortfall in the
federal allocation to state
governments in the federation did not
have any political colouration as being
insinuated in some quarters.
According to her: “There is no politics
in it. Every state goes to Federal
Allocation Committee meeting
monthly; they see the account and
know that oil production is down and
the receipts are down.
“They know Customs’ revenues are
down, yet we distribute whatever that
is to be distributed. From that, we
have been able to manage this
country and workers have been able
to collect their salaries.
On the need for the revitalisation of
tertiary education, she said: “Our
tertiary institutions face serious
challenges which require urgent
attention. President Jonathan injects
N220billion a year on top of regular
resources to address challenges in
tertiary education.”
She gave N50,000 prize each year for
the best student in Accounting and
Economics as a personal contribution
to the development of the institution.
In his own short response, Mallam
Sanusi said though, the economy was
becoming stable, the effects of the
growth should be seen in the life of a
common man on the street”.
The Vice chancellor of the institution,
Prof. Adeleke Ogunwale, commended
the Ooni of Ife for giving hundreds of
acres for the establishment of the
institution which came to being
in2009.
He hinted that the institution
graduated 166 students with18 first
class, 63 second upper division and 82
lower class. Out of the 18 first class, 10
of them are ladies. The honorees have
impacted positively on people.
Patience Jonathan. Today, we confer
doctor of science in accounting on Dr.
Iweala while Mallam Sanusi was
awarded. doctor of science in
Economics. Source: Vanguard

Sports / Chelsea’s Mourinho Kicks Over Arsenal Fixture Schedule by ebera(f): 5:54pm On Oct 28, 2013
Jose Mourinho insists he has been
left with no choice but to send out an under-strength
Chelsea team in Tuesday’s League Cup fourth round
clash at Arsenal.
Mourinho is fuming that League Cup fixture planners
decided to schedule Chelsea’s trip to the Emirates
Stadium just 48 hours after his side’s 2-1 win over
Manchester City in the Premier League.
The Blues boss claims Arsenal have been given an
unfair advantage because they played at Crystal
Palace on Saturday lunchtime, giving them extra
time to recover before the London derby.
Mourinho’s complaints ignore the fact that Gunners
manager Arsene Wenger routinely fields shadow
squads made up of fringe players and youngsters in
the League Cup, but that didn’t stop the Portuguese
coach letting rip when asked if he would field a strong
team for the last 16 tie.
“We are going to give the game that the people that
put the game on Tuesday want. If they want a big
game, we cannot give the big game,” Mourinho said.
“If they want the players that were playing today
(Sunday), we cannot give them that. If they want
Arsenal to win a trophy, that’s a help.
“If they want a big game between two big teams in
London, they should put the game on Wednesday and
not on Tuesday, because I am not going to do that.”
Mourinho claimed that, out of respect for Chelsea’s
fans, he would stop short of sending out a starting
line-up made up entirely of youth team players.
But he has no intention of putting his key stars under
what he believes is unfair duress.
“It’s not the plan because we have to respect also our
fans. We discussed that in the club. We have to
protect our players,” he said.
“We cannot put our players in two matches in the
space of three days. Arsenal played Saturday at 12:30,
so two and a half days to rest and to prepare. So I
hope they all enjoy.”
With both sides set to field weakened teams, the edge
has been taken off what could have been an
fascinating clash between the top two teams in the
current Premier League standings.
Even so, there could still be a few sparks flying on the
touchline as Mourinho and Wenger renew hostilities
for first time since the Chelsea chief returned to
England after spells at Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
Mourinho infuriated Wenger during his first stint at
Chelsea by describing his rival as a “Viewer” who was
obsessed by the Blues.
And, asked about their relationship on Sunday,
Mourinho was unable to resist another mischievous
jab at the Frenchman.
“We have no problems, no. Unless you tell me that he
had an influence on this (the timing of matches). If
you tell me that…”
Wenger was keener to keep the focus on the pitch and
he called on his players to show they believe they are
capable of finally winning silverware this season after
an eight-year trophy drought.
“There are people who do not believe that we have a
chance, but the only thing we can do is win our
games,” Wenger said.
“The only thing which is important is every win
makes you a bit stronger and strengthens the belief.”
Elsewhere in the fourth round, Manchester United
will look to maintain the momentum of their come-
from-behind 3-2 win over Stoke on Saturday when
they face Norwich at Old Trafford.
Tottenham meet Hull for the second time in four days
looking for a repeat of their 1-0 win over Steve
Bruce’s side in the Premier League on Sunday.
Newcastle, beaten by hated neighbours Sunderland,
and Manchester City, defeated by title rivals Chelsea,
will both be desperate to get back on track at St
James’ Park.
Fourth round fixtures (all 1945GMT)
Tuesday
Arsenal v Chelsea, Birmingham v Stoke, Burnley v
West Ham, Leicester v Fulham, Manchester United v
Norwich
Wednesday
Newcastle v Manchester City, Tottenham v Hull
Note: Sunderland v Southampton tie moved to
November 6
