Litmus:

Most likely Nigerian Engineers did quite a lot to build the thing. Anyone who knows anything about white people, media and reporting, will tell you that they, whites, often severely underplay the achievements of ethnic minorities and take a huge credit themselves for everything. Thus for instance the British fought and brought peace to Sierra Leone in only two weeks but Nigeria played no part.  So it has gone down in history that the British brought an end to the war in Sierra Leone.

If Nigeria is mentioned in any article to do with this satellite, and whites are involved, then it is almost certain that they do so  only because Nigeria did quite a lot. Whites always take as much credit as they can for things, study the news and try and remember past events and let it inform your future thinking.

Family / Egyptian Man Names Daughter 'facebook' by EFCC1(m): 4:25pm On Jul 19, 2011
An Egyptian man in his early twenties has named his newborn daughter 'Facebook' following the 2011 Egyptian Revolution which was almost solely organized on the social-networking site Facebook. The father, Gamal Ibrahim, told the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram that he gave his child the name to "express his joy at the achievements made by the January 25 youth."

The protests, which were largely organized on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook, began on January 25 and led to the end of Hosni Mubarak's 30-year reign as president of Egypt.

The Al-Ahram report stated that, "The girl’s family, friends, and neighbors in the Ibrahimya region gathered around the new born to express their continuing support for the revolution that started on Facebook. 'Facebook' received many gifts from the youth who were overjoyed by her arrival and the new name. A name that shocked the entire world."

The Egyptian spelling of 'Facebook' is فيس بوك.
Politics / Nigerian Troops On Anti-terrorism Training Abroad by EFCC1(m): 3:10pm On Jul 01, 2011
Nigerian soldiers are undergoing anti-terrorism training abroad following a recent spate of deadly gun and bomb attacks blamed on a radical Islamist sect, an army spokesman said on Thursday.

“This new type of act of terrorism is alien to Nigeria. So, some soldiers are undergoing training in anti-terrorism and allied crimes in some foreign countries to fight this menace,” Ralph Isah told AFP by telephone.

He would not give details on the number of troops involved, the duration of the training nor identify the countries they were sent to.

Politics / Nigerian Government Agency Website Hacked By “cyberhacktivists” by EFCC1(m): 6:37pm On May 26, 2011
A group of Nigerian hackers who call themselves “Naija Cyber Hacktivists” broke into the Niger Delta Development Committee’s website, a Nigerian agency set up to develop the region, yesterday.

The group claims that they were displeased with the Nigerian government’s proposed budget of about N1 billion ($6.6 millon) for President Goodluck Jonathan’s upcoming Presidential inauguration.

Here is an alleged screenshot of the agency’s website right after it was hacked, though the website is currently unavailable.

In a 9 paragraph letter, the group is reported to have addressed the government thusly:

A Visit from HELL

Mr President, With great sadness in our heart we bring you this message.

The Nigerian General Elections of April 2011 have come and gone. But, yet again, like all important functions of the Nigerian political system, they have provoked violent uprisings in parts of Nigeria – this time, mostly in the Northern States of Nigeria – and they have left a legacy of blood and tears, and of inter-group animosity and hate.

Nigerians have endured it all – usually assured by political self-seekers and false prophets that such problems are temporary birth pangs of a new country. But the events of the past April, and of recent months, have at last blown away all this self-deception and we are saying ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

To worsen the matter, the FG is to spend N1b on Jonathan inauguration

An inauguration is simply an induction into office, the formal transfer of power to an individual AND NOT a costly long-running festival nor a series of open-ended events organized into convoluted books and chapters.

We, NaijaCyberHactivists are therefore joining voice with other well-meaning Nigerians and WE SAY “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH”! WE ARE WATCHING and we promise that

1.) If the FG decides to go on with the N1b budget

2.) If the killers of “Mr. Tochukwu Uzukwu” aint fished out

3.) All those detained with the arrest and detention of Prof. Steve Torkuma Ugbah are not released

WE WILL

1.) Launch an attack against ALL financial institutions

2.) Launch an attack against the epayment bodies in the country

3.) Take down the Networks

4.) Cripple the telecommunication companies

5.) Take down all government sites.

We are not bluffing. .We are watching with interest and we give you till saturday to meet our TERMS.

“In source code we trust

We fighting for a cause

To make them account for all OUR money in their purse

MISSION: Hand over the whip to the horse”.

Politics / Nigeria Population: Three-baby Plan by EFCC1(m): 7:16pm On May 24, 2011
A Nigerian family planning expert has told the BBC it would be difficult to implement the suggestion that Nigerians should only have three children.

Isaac Ogo pointed to the tradition of polygamy and the belief that the children were seen as a "gift from God" in a male-dominated society.

Recent UN figures suggest Nigeria's population could jump to 730 million by 2100 - behind only India and China.

UN special adviser Jeffrey Sachs said this prospect alarmed him.

"It is not healthy. Nigeria should work towards attaining a maximum of three children per family," he told the AFP news agency.

Mr Ogo, from the Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria, agrees with the goal but says it will be hard to change the views of many Nigerians.

He says Nigeria is a "high birth, high death" society where many people think: "I need to have as much children as I want, as I don't know which will survive."

Nigeria is one of the world's worst places to have a baby, according to the UN.

About 145 women die each day in pregnancy or childbirth, as do 2,300 children below five years of age.
'Not their business'

Mr Ogo also told the BBC's Focus on Africa programme that many women are unable to visit an organisation such as his without their husband's agreement.

On the streets of the northern city of Kaduna, some people told the BBC that God decided how many children they had and so it would be wrong to try to limit the number of births.

"[The UN] should try to advise the government how to make the lives of Nigerians better, not telling Nigerians not to have children - that is not their business," one angry woman said.

But one woman agreed with Mr Sachs, saying that in a poor country such as Nigeria, it was better to have fewer children and look after them properly.

Nigeria's population is currently 160m - by far the most populous in Africa but a long way behind those of China and India.

As those countries grow richer, the UN predicts their populations will stop expanding, while those in Africa such as Nigeria, will continue to grow rapidly.

By KIMBERLY DOZIER and ERICA WERNER, Associated Press – 11 mins ago

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama has decided against releasing death photos of Osama bin Laden amid concerns that gruesome images could prove inflammatory, even though they could have provided tangible proof of the terrorist mastermind's demise.

Obama revealed his decision in an interview taped for CBS' "60 Minutes," just a day after his CIA director, Leon Panetta, said the photos would be released.

The president decided against making the images public after a spirited debate within government over the potential impact of their release.

Ever since word of bin Laden's death broke, the administration has tried to strike a balance between celebrating the success of the dramatic covert operation without unnecessarily offending sensitivities in the Muslim world. Officials stressed that Muslim traditions were followed before bin Laden's body was buried at sea, for example.

There was support for releasing the photos from both ends of the spectrum: Some family members of those who died in the 9-11 terror attacks thought it important to document bin Laden's death, as did some skeptics in the Arab world who doubted his demise in the absence of convincing evidence.

But the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., said in advance of Obama's decision that he was concerned that the photographic images could be seen as a "trophy" that would inflame U.S. critics and makes it harder for members of the American military deployed overseas to do their job.

Rogers said the picture could stir up anti-U.S. fervor around the world and hamper intelligence cooperation with the United States. He said conspiracy theorists wouldn't have likely been convinced anyhow.

The photos have been described by several sources as gruesome. One shows part of the skull blown off, those sources say.

A U.S. official said one consideration is that the photo also shows exposed brain matter.

Sources spoke on condition of anonymity because the photo is still part of a classified investigation.

The president made his decision as the Navy SEALS involved in the daring raid in Pakistan arrived in the U.S. for debriefing, and U.S. officials began to comb through the intelligence trove of computer files, flash drives, DVDs and documents that the commandos hauled out of the terrorist's hideaway.

Bin Laden had about 500 euros sewn into his clothes when he was killed and had phone numbers on him when he was killed, U.S. officials said, a possible indication that bin Laden was ready to flee the compound on short notice.

Obama prepared to visit New York City on Thursday to lay a wreath at Ground Zero and visit with 9/11 families and first responders.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Howard Webb Picked For Chelsea, Man U Encounter by EFCC1(m): 7:18pm On May 03, 2011
The World Cup final referee Howard Webb is set to be announced today as the man in charge of Manchester United's pivotal Premier League game against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday with the league and referees' bodies desperate for a solid performance from the officials.

The appointment of Webb (right), 39, is expected to be confirmed by Mike Riley, the general manager of the referees' organisation, this afternoon after a bad weekend for Premier League officials in which several wrong decisions – most notably Frank Lampard's "ghost goal" against Tottenham – have put them under scrutiny like never before.

Sir Alex Ferguson has also cranked up the pressure following United's 1-0 defeat to Arsenal by suggesting that Chelsea had been the beneficiary of some "great decisions" in their 2-1 win over Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, which puts them within three points of United. The appointment to Sunday's game of Webb – heavily criticised by Liverpool for his performance in their FA Cup third-round defeat to United in January – will not be without controversy. However, the Professional Game Match Officials (PGMOL) body, which administers and selects referees, is aware that the game needs to pass off without a major talking point around the referee and has chosen the man regarded as the best in the English game.
