Take the second job. Then, during your spare time, look for a law firm that will allow you do Private practice (PP). This way, you learn the ropes at the law firm and you get a reasonable amount at the music school. Win/win situation bro.

You might regret taking the law firm job at the end of the month with this ridiculous salary.

Good advice.
Get attached to a Law firms , spend free days there to learn the legal practice.

I'm not a twitter guy, yet I get his messages. I believe if he was moving in the opposite direction in the Senate, he'ld have been called out. I'm also aware that others with him are aware of his opinions, but whom exactly out of the entire senate has come out to lend credence to this wonderful opinion? That's to tell you how bad things really are. He's the only one saying the words Nigerians need to hear to inspire them. Hushing him down will benefit no one. Rather, we should imbibe the message.

You try to disassociate yourself from GEJ and co. because of the Dasukigate exposure but you fail to look at the fact.

The economy is melting and Amaechi feels this is not the time to invest in building a new University. Amaechi said What can we achieve with a new University we can not achieve with the Institution at Oron.

Please, we can not afford N13 Billion now that your likes awarded to the Chinese people. Amaechi considers it wastage now. Someone like you should know this is not the time but upgrading our other institutions will achieve more at a cheaper rate.

Who believes the write up of TonyeBarcanista who was a die hard supporter of the most corrupt government in the history of Nigeria.

Nice one , too much theory in Africa. We need youths that can make physical impact in the Society.
Its a pity that many even the jobless struggle to do masters when their degree has not made any impact. The quest for paper qualification limits impactful thinking and ventures.

First of all, the Nigerian Naira(NGN) is not an internationally accepted medium of exchange! As such, Naira cannot be used as you require. An American Merchant, selling to a Nigerian would want his money in U.S Dollars because the Naira would be useless to him!

Answer: Import, means you are buying from a foreign Land! How would you pay the foreigner in your local currency? What would he/she do with it?

Answer: You went to china, do you expect to pay a Chinese in China Naira? Or Dollar? No! Nigeria doesn't really export goods so much as it imports. Most of the goods in Nigeria are imported and not made here.

No, it would cost the company a lot of money and it might end up in a loss since the Naira isn;t globally accepted.

The sum of it all is, Nigerian Naira is not internationally accepted as a medium of exchange as such, it cannot fit into where you want it to
Nice! Our major limitation is due to the fact that we are not mainly into exportation as a Country. We depend mainly on import.

Hello Eninaija,

Thanks a lot for the feedback - I will take your advice on and see how I can possibly organise such a meeting, I like that idea. It's just that I've never done such a thing before. I have no problems organising the meeting, my issue is how to get the word out so that people know about it. Anyway I will start thinking about and working on it, and of course the house will be the first to know once I figure out a way to bring it to life.

I've also been working on the video tutorial and will let everyone know once it's done.

Thank you guys for all the support and encouragement!!!

You could have a theme on the skill or knowledge you want to share eg How to get a great job with out stress, Then do a small design like banner on Nairaland. Share it on social media, use as dp. Let interested participants or volunteers text yes to your phone number.

U can also post d banner on this thread.
Business / Re: I Want To Give Out N20,000 A Month To Help Young Nigerians (for Career Or Biz) by eninaija(f): 7:42pm On Sep 29, 2015
GenoMI,

Here is my idea
You should have a once in a month meeting where you can teach people what they need for Career success. It could be once in 2months depending on your schedule
You can also involve other Volunteers who want to share their knowledge and skills

In such meetings create a platform for Networking and access to information on job opportunities, scholarships, internship, enterprise and self development generally
The meetings need not be big; 10 to 20 persons is fine.
Have a Skills on the House banner, take nice pics and promote it online.
I believe with this Skills on the house will make more impact and better ideas will come up as you go on.

I wish you much more Success!

** Video tutorials is a great idea. Pls do it

Well done, I must say that I admire d fact that you keep this going. I will contact you later to share my ideas on How to expand this.

GenoMI:
Good morning everyone,

How are you doing? Hope well! grin grin

So I want to bring up something I've realised as I progress on this journey - Nigerian job seekers need HELP!

I have worked in may different places, and I realise that there is a problem - our graduates don't have the required skills to get (and in some cases keep) jobs.

I work in a management consulting firm, and the other day a young graduate who had a Masters degree from a University abroad came for an interview. He really looked good on paper and we were looking forward to meeting him.

Alas he came for the interview and messed up big time - in short the interview was over (in the minds of our management team) about 5 mins into it undecided undecided cry cry cry. He simply wasn't prepared. He hadn't done any homework. Didn't research the company so couldn't even answer the question 'What do you know about our company / what we do here' shocked shocked.

He couldn't articulate his past achievements including his work experience. Even his body language was all wrong, the way he was slouched in his chair.

Anyway, he didn't get the job and I was a bit shocked because he seemed like the perfect candidate on paper. Yes there is a shortage of jobs in Nigeria, but there are some jobs and it seems like our youth lack the skills necessary to get those jobs.

I want to try and shift my focus to helping from this angle now and I'm trying to figure out how best to go about it so that I can reach as many people as possible.

For now though, I will start by helping people do up their CV's properly as well as prepare for interviews (I'll do 1 a week). I think I have done enough interviews both home and abroad and I have some experience I can share (I've worked in many industries as an IT Business Analyst with companies like Pearson Education, Credit Suisse, 21st Century Technologies, Afrinvest, Samsung Electronics West Africa and the Nigerian Stock Exchange).

Anyone who would like to take me up on this should send me a message here - http://skillsonthehouse.com/contact-page/

Long time (on your thread, please give us an update). Government contract can come in various forms. For example, you can hustle a contract, and when it is approved and awarded to you, then you get paid by the government. However, this is not what i have in mind as i have already done one for the government and up till now (many months later) i am still expecting to be paid. The kind of government contract i am talking about is more like a government approval to carry out a project. The project will pay for itself, but it will be done under the coffers of "government". So, it is not bidding for contracts, but presenting a proposal to the government stating the project they need to carry out, and at the same time suggesting to them that you can carry out the project on their behalf. Let them know how the project can "fund" itself so they really dont need to bother about approving funds.

At the end of the day, they give your company approval and necessary contract award documents, you execute the project, it adds to their portfolio (so they win more votes in the next election), they approve funding for the project which they also keep in their pockets cos the project can generate its own money, you make some millions on your own from the project, everybody is a winner! Such projects get approved faster if you know how to package it right. grin

Well done Databoy, pls give example of such a project that can 'fund' itself. It will make things clearer ...thanks

However, I take reservations to the name "Mafia". That name and "Church" should not be used in the same sentence. Thanks.

Op you should reconsider d name. I think you should just start an NGO and try to do all the lofy things you propose thru it. I believe every religion brainwashes its members one way or the other. You will av more appeal if you leave Chritainity n oda religion out of it.

Hello friends, my new tech start-up, recently launched a project called OfficeManager. I observed that there are A LOT of local and indigenous contracting firms legally registered in Nigeria but they are all geting frustrated because of their limited access to contract opportunities.

From a survey conducted, it was discovered that the problem isn't lack of contract opportunities, but lack of information and data. Hence, the solution; www.officemanager.com.ng. It is an online portal where both existing and aspiring contractors across the country can register and have unlimited access to latest contract opportunities, bid invitations, training, hundreds of official documents for download and lots more.

Our target is to partner with government establishments and multinational organizations to directly receive publications on their tender requests and contract opportunities directly to our online portal. With this solution, we hope to reach out to thousands of contracting firms across the country simultaneously so they can have direct access to data and latest opportunities on our online portal, and mobile apps.
