The Nigerian Air Force, yesterday, said its fighter jets attacked a hideout of terrorist group, Boko Haram one mile south of Tumbum Rego in northern Borno.

Air Force spokesman, Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa in his statement said its jets and helicopter gunship assaulted the area in a coordinated day and night operation.

Famuyiwa said insurgents who attacked forces at Kangarwa on January 12 had withdrawn to the location according to intelligence.

Famuyiwa said the renewed effort is aimed at denying the remnants of the insurgents the opportunity to regroup and launch attack on own surface forces or people within the host communities.

Dolapo Makunjuola was on Saturday, crowned the “Queen of the Virgins” at the 2017 Miss Virginity beauty pageant held inside the headquarters of Surulere LGA of Lagos. She emerged winner out of 35 contestants. .

An excited Makunjuola said she intends being a virgin until she’s ripe for marriage. No gynaecological test was conducted to ascertain their virginity, each of them only answered questions mostly on current affairs.

Adunni Adediran, the organiser, said the contest was an avenue to propagate the importance of women keeping their virginity till their wedding night. .

She said she was “called to order” by the Lagos State Ministry of Education, forcing her to stop the practice of bringing a gynaecologist to confirm the virginity of prospective contestants.

“We used to have a gynecologist who examines the girls before the event, but the ministry of education invited me and told me they disliked the attitude of a man looking at the girls privacy and I was depressed that day.

But was it not better for one man, a federal gynaecologist in a twinkle of an eye, to check if they were virgins or not, than the girls selling themselves from one bed to another bed?” Ms. Adediran said.

One of the contestants, 40-year-old Veronica Nwokedi said she heard about the pageant for virgins last year through her brother’s wife’s friend who is also a virgin.

Irrespective of the big size, science says men prefer firm boobs more than they do big boobs.

A recent scientific study carried out in four different countries; Brazil, Cameroon, Czech Republic and Namibia, revealed this preference.


According to the survey which sampled 267 men, majority of the men consider firm boobs more attractive, regardless of the boobs’ size.

Speaking of size, another revelation from the study showed that women with C-cups are preferred to those with D-cups.

While the sample size is small, it is telling nonetheless. And the scientists are looking to carry out further studies on the two parameters, breast size and firmness, which, taken together, may help to explain the relatively large variation in women’s breast sizes.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has supported the removal of Financial Reporting Council (FRC) Executive Secretary, Mr. Jim Obazee.

FRC is the body whose law led to the retirement of Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye as General Overseer of Nigerian arm of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

Reacting, CAN General Secretary, Rev. Musa Asake said the sack of Obazee by President Muhammadu Buhari was divine.

He said God used authorities to punish the official for daring to interfere in the work of the church.

“The sack of Jim (Obazee) is good riddance to bad rubbish. Anybody that wants to fight the church will find himself where he does not want,” he told The Nation.

“Jim got to the position by the grace of God, but set out to probe and destroy the church of God. I spoke with him several times on this issue but he wouldn’t listen.

“He was going to take the church to what is worse than Armageddon. Thank God the authorities have stepped in to right the wrong.

“He should have been fired a long time ago and we don’t know why he was left alone, but God’s time is always the best.

“That code should be thrown out completely because government should not interfere with the church.

“The church is a no-go zone for the government. Doing that has serious implications. If they attempt it, it will lead to confusion in the nation”, he added.

Similarly, Senior Pastor, Living Spring Chapel International, Lagos, Pastor Femi Emmanuel, has condemned the controversial law.

He said the sack “is a right step in the right direction. Government has no business meddling in the internal structure and governance of the church.

“There is no government in the world that does that. Anyone who does that is incurring the wrath of God. Yes, there could be financial regulation of churches but never in the internal structure of the church.

“Everything that has to do with the internal structure and governance of the church must be expunged from the code.”

Obazee, a former pastor of the RCCG, had said only 89 of the 23,216 registered churches in the country had complied with FRC provisions.

Meanwhile, the leadership of CAN is set to hold an emergency meeting on the FRC code and other related matters.

CAN President Rev. Samson Ayokunle said the organisation’s lawyers would review the issues and make their position known to the public.

A widow, known as Mrs. Ngozi Nzediba, has lost the three children she has after the family’s one-room apartment on Liasu Road, in the Ikotun Egbe area of Lagos State caught fire. It was learnt that Ngozi had asked the children to prepare noodles and locked them up in the room around 2pm on Tuesday.


She was said to have left them to buy some things on the street when the fire engulfed the apartment, leaving the children with no chance of escape.


The three children, identified as Chiamaka (female, nine years old); Emmanuel (male, seven years old) and Chigozie (male, five years old), reportedly sustained burns and were rushed to a private hospital in the area.
They, however, died on Wednesday.
When our correspondent visited 15 Ikuna Street, where the incident happened, he observed some sympathisers discussing the incident.
Our correspondent gathered that the children’s father died about four years ago.
A tenant in the house, who did not identify herself, said she was tending to her child when somebody raised the alarm about the fire.
She said, “It was a little boy that alerted us to the fire. I quickly picked my baby and ran out. I didn’t know what led to the fire.”
It was learnt that the children could have been rescued before they were burnt; but tenants in the house were preoccupied with saving their property and taking their children to safety.
The fire was said to have escalated before residents were able to break the burglar proof bars of the room to rescue the children through the window, and douse the flames.
A resident, Bola Oguntoyinbo, blamed the children’s mother for locking them up in the room.
She said, “She locked the door against the children and went out. The window had burglar-proof bars, which made it hard to save the children. It is unfortunate because she lost her husband about four and half years ago and had been taking care of the kids since then.”
Our correspondent observed that the burnt clothes of the children were scattered outside the house.
A tenant, who was seen lamenting a personal loss, was prevented from speaking to our correspondent by the landlord’s wife, who insisted that PUNCH Metro leave the area.
The landlord’s wife, a fair woman, threatened to beat up our correspondent when he enquired about the fire.
At a point, the woman began calling some persons on the telephone, as this correspondent hurriedly left the scene.
She said, “We don’t want this in the media. If you don’t leave now, we will beat you up.”
Our correspondent learnt that the landlord had gone to the Ikotun Police Division to report the matter, while Ngozi had been taken to a relative’s house where she was expected to recover from the shock of the incident.
A police source said preliminary investigation showed that Ngozi asked her children to prepare meal in the room before leaving the house.
He said, “The incident happened on Tuesday around 2pm. There was no power supply in the area, so it had nothing to do with electricity. The woman left the children in the house and locked the door. She asked them to put noodles on fire. It is possible that the children didn’t handle the stove well, which resulted in the tragedy.
“They sustained burns and were also choked by the flames. They were immediately rushed to a private hospital, where they died. The corpses have been deposited in a mortuary.”
The Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, Mr. Razak Fadipe, confirmed the incident.
He said, “They didn’t call us on time; they were busy battling the fire on their own and trying to save their property. Immediately we learnt of the incident, we sent men from the Agege Fire Station. The fire started from the family room and it ended there. When we arrived, we were told that the children had been taken to a hospital and we visited them. It was there we were told that their mother locked them inside the house and went out.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said investigations had begun into the incident.
She said, “The three children died in the early hours of Wednesday after they sustained burns in the fire incident. All of them were underage. The scene has been visited by our operatives and photographs taken. We are investigating to find out the culpability of their mother who locked them inside the house.”

Sit close to the window or source of ventilation.

Poor ventilated classroom can make it easy for you to fall asleep. Sit close to the window or near the fan, this makes it easy to get good ventilation and reduces your chances of falling asleep during lectures.

Eat healthy and drink enough water.

Endeavor to stick to a healthy meal plan. Avoid eating foods high on carbohydrates and fat before lectures, foods rich in proteins and minerals are necessary for brain and body development.

Take a bottle of water when sitting through long hours of lectures in case you get thirsty. Please do not fail to add yours

Get up and walk around when you feel tired.

Staying through a long lecture can be tiring and frustrating. When you feel tired get up and move about, if the lecturer should ask why you are roaming about, explain to him/her that you need to stretch your legs.

The lecturer should understand that you need to do this to be comfortable to continue the lecture.

Get enough sleep the night before.

The body needs up to 7hours of sleep every night, this is important to help your body work at full capacity. Getting enough sleep the night before going to lectures gets you well rested and puts your brain at optimal capacity while also reducing your chances of falling asleep during lectures.

Get enough exercise.

Exercises helps in reducing stress, blood circulation and increases the activities of the brain cells. Stick to a morning routine like jogging, trekking, running or cycling are good ways to energize the body which prepares you for a very productive day.

In a fight for ownership, a civil servant has successfully landed himself in trouble after chopping off someone else’s ears.
The 32-year-old civil servant in Rivers State, Mr. Braide Chinedu, has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Port Harcourt, for allegedly chopping off his neighbour’s ear over ownership of a plantain tree.

The accused, Chinedu, who works with a federal ministry in Port Harcourt, according to reports, attacked his neighbour, Mr. Adelowu Ogundele, with a matchete while Ogundale was harvesting plantain at their Federal Housing Estate residence in Port Harcourt.

The accused, who is facing two counts of assault, is also accused of destroying plantain trees owned by one of his former neighbours, Mrs Ibitayo Elizabeth. After the charges were read, Chinedu pleaded not guilty.

Chief Magistrate B. M. F. Jamabo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N400,000 and one surety, before adjourning the case to October 23.

Finance Minister, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, claims that Nigeria is already walking out of the economic recession.

She said the development came following some positive measures the Federal Government had taken.

Mrs. Adeosun added that the recovery plan was to invest more in infrastructure and stop wastage in governance.

The Minister, in an interview with newsmen after the closing ceremony of the 2016 National Council of Finance and Economic Development (NACOFED) conference in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, noted that the economic recovery process would be driven from the local, state and the Federal Government levels.

“We are investing more in capital expenditure than we have ever invested. We are sorting out infrastructure; we are stopping wastage and so the sign of recovery is already there.

“We are already getting out of recession because of the actions the Federal Government is taking. If you are in a problem, the day you start to step towards progression, you are already getting out of it; we are getting out of it.

“Agriculture and solid minerals are already starting to grow and so they are responding to our policy initiative and we are expected to continue in that direction.

“Nigeria is getting out of the trouble that we have found ourselves. We are turning things around and I believe everybody is united and everybody that was here (conference) represented the 36 states of Nigeria and this recovery will be driven from the state and local governments,” she said.

According to her, the diversification of the economy from oil to agriculture and solid minerals was yielding positive results.

“There are no Federal people; everybody lives in the states. So having everybody together working in the same direction is very important and I want everybody to be included,” Mrs. Adeosun said.

Militant group known as, the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, on Monday said it would not join in the ceasefire declared by other militant groups in the Niger Delta owing to the alleged insincerity of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government.

The militant group also alleged that the current Federal Government was too corrupt to be trusted, threatening that attacks on oil facilities would continue until the government and oil firms operating in the region turn from their ‘oppressive tendencies’ against the people.

The spokesman for the militant group, Aldo Agbalaja, in a statement issued on Monday asked the multinational oil companies and the military “to watch out for the next big statement. It shall shake your imaginations.”

The statement also condemned another militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers, for being too quick to have announced a ceasefire with the government.

The statement added, “The chickens seem to be coming home to roost now. The truth is dawning on the blacklegs that are working to short-change their people will always backfire. When the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate said we were out to engage the oppressors to the last, some snickered and bluffed, their indignation became most annoying when those pretenders called Avengers gave life to our prediction and announced a ceasefire. Now they are all coming back to the basics; falling back in line after seeing, first hand, that we have been right all along about the Nigerian Federal Government; it is a corrupt system that should never be trusted.

“However, we are using this medium to warn the Nigerian Armed Forces to properly advise their leadership; militarisation of our region can only lead to an avoidable armed confrontation and if this happens, we swear by the gods and ancestors of our land, we shall ensure it is a long and tedious campaign that the Nigerian state will forever regret.”

The Niger Delta Greenland Justice mandate further threatened to launch what it termed ‘Operation Hammurabi Code’, adding, “Until we see a sincere and genuine step towards a just and equitable mending of the injustices of all the years past done to our people, this war shall persist and we can guarantee that they cannot win this one, even if they get all the world’s arsenal assembled behind them.

“Operation Crocodile Tears is the mildest of what the world should expect from us, by the time we initiate the phase II and get started with ‘Operation Hammurabi Code’ only God knows what will then become of these plains called Nigeria.”

The operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a woman who allegedly abused her housemaid by inflicted a severe injury on her wrist with a saw.

The incident was said to have happened on Sunday in the Meiran Alagbado area of Lagos state after neighbours heard the shout of the girl in the woman’s apartment.

On getting to the apartment to ascertain the cause of the shout, neighbours managed to force open the woman’s door and found the underage maid bleeding profusely while still doing domestic chores.

A neighbour who witnessed the saga said the girl told them that her madam was in the habit of using crude items on her anytime she is beating her.

She said: “While the girl was trying to escape, the woman used the saw to inflict that injury on her. Not bothered with the blood flowing from the girl, the woman still forced the maid to wash clothes with the same hand.”

Concerned neighbours had no choice but to report the barbaric act to the Meiran Police Station. The madam has been arrested and detained, case under investigation.

There was pandemonium at the University of Kwazulu Natal(UKZN) Howard Campus on Wednesday night after a female student(name withheld) turned into a huge snake shortly after being dropped off at her hostel residence by a suspected Nigerian Blesser.

One of the victim’s buddies who witnessed EVERYTHING said:

“It all happened in a flash, she disembarked from the flashy BMX x6 and I saw her going to her room. I followed her to her room as I wanted to hear how her date was like when blood curling screams stopped me dead in my tracks. I quickly recovered and kicked the door open and up to now I don’t believe what I witness with my two eyes. She turned into a reptile on her bed, right before my very own eyes.”

We are told that the ‘snake’ slithered away from the hostel room as befuddled and bedazzled spectators watched in utter disbelief- into the nearby bushes and that was the end of it.

The University authorities have given strict warnings to their female students about hanging out with blessers but they conceded that at the end of the day these are adults and the decisions of who to associate with, ultimately rests with the individual.

Reached for a comment, KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Eugene Msomi said a case docket will be opened and the unusual occurrence would be investigated right to the end though he admitted that they were in a bit of a quandary as to how best proceed with the case as it fell outside the normal scope of their operations.

“Smashed car windows. So I went for a wedding yesterday. When I came out my back window was smashed and all the things in my car where stolen.”

“My bags, wallet with ATM cards, National ID, drivers license and much more. I could not contain myself.”

Reports have it that President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew has been identified as the author of the speech that has become controversial over plagiarism claims, SaharaReporters reports.

The individual, whose name was given as Mamman Daura, has reportedly been the source of the President’s speech since his inauguration in 2015.

It was further reported that Daura is arguably the biggest power player in President Buhari’ cabinet, who has taken upon himself the role of the President’s speechwriter with no consultations with other authorities.

Daura, report says, was behind President Buhari’s inauguration speech, which lifted a famous quote from the late French leader Charles de Gaulle.

The identification of Daura as the speechwriter is contrary to Presidential media aide, Garba Shehu‘s statement that the speech was a mistake by an overzealous staff.

Attah Esa, was reportedly revealed as the only deputy director attached to the State House media office and whose duties are concerned only with newspaper reviews.

It was also reported that Daura was responsible for the President’s speeches on all sectors and occasions while the President’s Personal Assistant, Sabiu Yusuf allegedly sees to it getting typed and getting to the President.

Femi Fani-Kayode, still on rampage against President Buhari has come out again to blast the president for urging Corps members from the Igbo extraction to tell their fellow kinsmen agitating for the actualization of Biafra to forget it.

Recall that Buhari, had on Monday, while addressing some National Youth Service Corps members of the Igbo extraction, in Daura, Katsina State, said, “Tell your colleagues who want Biafra to forget about it.’’

But the Peoples Democratic Party Chieftain, in a facebook post said, “You bathed in the blood of Biafrans, you crushed their bones and stripped away their dignity and self-respect just to keep Nigeria one.

“Now you say their children have no right to ask for self-determination simply because you killed their fathers and mothers during the war and shattered their dreams.

“Shame on you. If Nigeria was a normal country by now you would have been at the ICC answering charges of genocide and crimes against humanity at the Hague instead of being President.

“If you want the Igbo or any other southerner to stay and if u want Nigeria to remain one then treat us all as equals, offer our children and our people equal opportunities and a public apology and pay full compensation for all the atrocities that you, your people and your forefathers have committed against the people of the south and the northern minorities over the last two hundred years.

“In addition to that you must defeat, destroy and dismantle Boko Haram, decommission your Fulani militias and herdsmen and put a stop to the marginalisation, threats, genocide, ethnic cleansing and mass murder of our people.

“It is after you have done all these things that you can make an appeal to us for the continued unity of Nigeria.

“Outside of that the Nigerian baby you are carrying and saying that you killed and died for during the civil war is already dead. It is only waiting to be buried.”

Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has sounded a warning that the naira could become totally worthless at the international stage if the status quo is maintained.

Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja, he complained that the consumption of rice by Nigerians is on the rise and that a lot of people were not aware that rice had some degree of arsenic.

Substituting the excess rice with potato would be welcomed development, he said.

He also said Nigerian businessmen demanded 2.5 billion dollars (about N492 billion) a week for importation of goods and services into the country.

“The volume of importation of virtually everything into this country is too much,” he said.

“We sat and were hoping that by devaluation, we are going to arrive at Eldorado; if we continue like this, it will be a thousand naira to a dollar,’’ he said.
