I don't know why I gave this thread a serious thought last night; and what kept flashing on mind was something the Lord told me in 2007.

Singlelife and other single Christian ladies: I suggest you ask God for where your husband is located. Wrong location is one of the reasons why many young men and women are still single.

Keep in mind what the Scripture says "he that findeth a wife, findeth a good thing and obtaineth favor from the Lord,"

It's the man's responsibility to locate the woman, but think of this: If the man/woman is wrongly located, what are the chances that they would meet? I believe in God's power, but you need to seek Him for direction because your man may not be in your circle of influence.

Some years ago, the Lord gave me a revelation to broaden my knowledge on how He works miracles:

I saw a young woman in her early thirties praying in her office. In the vision, the lady was pacing praying intensely. But the next minute, I saw her crying because she was suspended at work. I couldn't make a head or tail of the vision until a few minutes later. Then I saw her in a church talking to some brethren about fraud in her department and how she wanted them to join her in prayers. Obviously, she's upwardly mobile and would not trade her lucrative job for anything. The vision was interrupted briefly as I woke up to do something. The next thing I saw in the vision when it continued was that the lady decided to visit her Mom in another state during her suspension period. In a nutshell, she met her husband when she was going to see her mother. The guy was among some people that the public transport vehicle abandoned by the road side due to a mechanical fault.

Romans 8:28 - All things work together for good to them that love the Lord, and those who are the called according to His purpose.

God be praised for your life. Your single status is not a disease, so please do not be cowed into making any life changing decision without God. There's no situation that God cannot handle. That He has not granted your heart desire does not mean He's not aware of it or that He does not care. He cares for you. Our desires on this side of eternity are the best we can think of; but I want to say that God feels our concerns, worries, and He is interested in guiding us.

I don't know your story or history before the Lord, but keep your confession of faith and do not lower your spiritual standards. A married life is desirable because no one wants to remain single and lonely for life. But have you thought that in God's infinite wisdom, He may have delayed your marriage for certain things that are not yet in place? If you can't think of anything about you not yet in place, think of the man that God is planning to bring your way.

Another thing I will suggest is to seek God through fasting and prayer - seek God for strength if you are weak in this area. I have seen God revealing reasons behind certain situations, and I have witnessed Him performed miracles when believers seek Him earnestly.

Your single status is not peculiar to you. There are some of my female friends (born again) sisters who are seeking God's intervention over the same issue. I believe you will agree with me that to be single and alive is better than to be married to a philanderer? What many married people and supposed Christians are coping with will blow your mind. Please take solace in God and continue to seek Him. He knows the best time to make it happen.

As you pray for yourself, I'll advise you keep the man in prayers, too. Many young and eligible bachelors are looking for a lady like you, so asking God to bless and lead the man is another way to invest into his life before meeting him.

I pray that you shall go off the market very soon in Jesus' name. Amen.

Left to me I'd go with the flow but the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus (Grace) has been my strength. Temptations all over the place, and the beautiful girls in Nigeria are not making it easy on man. One wonders where they breed 'em girls! It seems the closer one gets to God the more intense temptation becomes. But as a minister of the gospel I cannot afford to look at a woman twice before taking to my heels lest the inevitable happens.

I remember an experience in 2009. I was back in Nigeria and a young lady I had met previously in 2008 before going abroad called from Lagos and asked me to invite her over to Abuja. I almost did but praise be unto God for bailing me out. Now the same lady sits in the congregation where I co-pastor with a friend. We look at each other with this "hmmm" kinda look.

The most challenging to me is lack of enriching fellowship with brethren. Many Christians in my neighborhood are steep in shallowness, and the spiritual "big wigs" are way up and unreachable. May God help us all. Amen!

Moved back home in 2004 after sojourning in the US for 9 years! I have had my ups and downs in Nigeria, but things are getting clearer now. First thing I did to gain back my sanity was to stop watching TV. I also stopped reading dailies, tabloids and listening to events around me, because the value system was driving me nuts. Now, I read news about Nigeria online once in a while!

I went back to the States in 2008 for a six month rest, a much needed rest at the time. 

Nigeria is a cool place if you can make a comfortable living!

Q: Why did Jesus curse the fig tree?

A: Jesus cursed the fig tree to demonstrate dominion over plants. In the four gospels, Jesus exercised power over storms, sickness, death, animals, and even gave sight to a man born without eyes, so without demonstrating power over plants the scope of his dominion would not have been all encompassing!

Proof:

Q: Did Jesus not know that the fig tree had no fruits?

A: I believe that Jesus knew there were no fruits on the tree. How?

1. In John 4, he told a woman that she had been married to four different men and that the one she lives with was not her husband.

2. In John 11, Mary and Martha sent message to Jesus that his friend, Lazarus, was sick. Jesus said "his sickness was not unto death;" but when Lazarus died, Jesus told his disciples "Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep" a statement that his disciples misunderstood until he told them that Lazarus was dead.

3. Jesus foreknew and predicted that Peter would deny him thrice before the cock crows.

The Bible is replete with instances that confirm the omniscient nature of the Lord Jesus Christ, so it is in order to believe that he knew there were no figs on the tree.

Why then did he curse the fig tree to demonstrate his power when he could have said "by this time tomorrow, you shall have fruits?"

Plant derived nutrients needed for survival from soil and the sun; and since it was not the season of fruits, Jesus simply suspended the supply of nutrients to the fig, thus the fig tree withered! Saying "By this time tomorrow you shall have fruits" is to violate Ecclesiastes 3:2.

Q: Did the fig tree wither right away?

A: Unlike man and animals, it takes a while to see the effects of death on plants. So we could say the tree died right away but took over 12hrs for the fig tree to dry up!!

The lesson therein is that through words Christians can influence nature!

Six (6) is the number of man for he was created on the sixth day. But having 6 in three places (666) mean man is the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. Essentially, 666 means "man is God" or "man has become God" which boils down to the original sin: Man sought to be like God.

Humans will advance in knowledge to the point that faith or trust in God will be irrelevant to keep life going. And when we are basking in the euphoria of our advancement, destruction will strike!

Now to your question, Jagoon: I lack the knowledge and revelation to tell you what the original idea of man was; but Genesis 1:26 is clear as daylight. God said: "come let us make man in our own image, after our likeness, and, " If not in God's image and likeness, what other image or likeness would man have been created? Perhaps there was a period in time when humans were created but not in the image and likeness of God.

Bible is highly suggestive of a pre-adamic world, and I will not attempt to speculate on what humans looked like at the time.

Passage Genesis 1:26-27:

26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

The hint that Adam was not the first man was conspicuously stated in the phrase "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, " In light of other biblical accounts, God seemed to be saying: "come, let us make man but this time around, we are going to make him in our image, after our likeness, "

My reason for the statement above is that the phrases "in our image" and "in our likeness" suggest that the concept or idea of man was not new to God. He used the phrases to differentiate between the soon-to-be-created-man from the concept of man known ONLY to Him.

A little probings of the scripture are highly suggestive of a pre-adamic world that probably became extinct before God said "let there be light, " in Genesis 1:1-3.

It seems what Oracle was harping about was elusive to some, if not all, the respondents. Oracle is not looking for good girls, and is obviously not interested in knowing where the good girls are; on the contrary, he is saying "there is no "good girl" anymore in this time and age." I don't live in Lagos, but in Ibadan, and all you need to confirm what Oracle was saying is a drive through the Uni-Ibadan road, via Bodija to GRA side. You will marvel at the number of girls that would jump at your offer to spend the night with 'em.

One of my kid brothers in the neighborhood just turned love-vendor, connecting "good girls" to guys from out of town. And from what he told me last week, good girls with seemingly high moral standing are joining the foray, and strangely not so much due to poverty, but for a nice time. Seems "one night stand" is now the latest faze.

Just a piece of advice for the ladies: stop sleeping with men whom you are not married to.
