WHERE IS OUR EMPOWERMENT

It was last year that the federal government signed a MoU with Huawei Technology Nigeria to train and empower 2000 youth with 1Billion naira which was paid in favour of the federal government by Huawei Technology and also said it will be fully sponsored by the FG.

This was a move established by the federal government to create employment and empowerment to the teaming and unemployed youth of Nigerian. We are aware that the 1Billion naira paid in favour of the Nigerian government was budgeted per-head. Which was supposed to cost the sum five hundred thousand naira (N500, 000) excluding the so called ‘fully sponsored by federal government’ which was undisclosed.

Among the 53,000 applicant of the program (ICT for Change), two thousand (2,000) graduates were selected for the program and invited in batches from 10/11/2016.
About one thousand three hundred and forty five (1,345) youths have completed the five days so called training so far, According to *THISDAY* *Newspaper* 03/08/2017

We were not much concerned when we were all invited to either Abuja or Lagos centre for the training, of course the transport and accommodation was solely our responsibility irrespective of your location, practical material too (Laptops) even though we were provided with manual and writing materials.

We were promised to be trained and be empowered. To our dismay, we were only issued a certificate after five days of training and asked to hold on while Huawei will get back to us in due course, but recently we saw ten (10) people selected for further training in china out of the 2000 participants and were paraded on media, Which we don't know the criteria used for selection. It is not stated on the ICT4change Training Invitation That there will be selection after the short-listed 2000 for the Empowerment program.
In view of all this happenings, we resolve to ask some questions

• Where is our empowerment?
• Why do federal government have to spend N1 Billion on training we can get in small business centre for N5000 per-person?
• How is the 1Billion spent?
• How is N500,000 spent without accommodation, transportation and without proper practical?
• We were trained by non-staff of Huawei, why not Huawei staff?
• What is the fate of the remaining 1,990 participants?

The baboons, gorillas, hyenas and the jackals prey on the weaker animals after an invite to feast with them, only to be attacked and butchered like Rob Stack in the game of throne. We are like a decoy hanged to a fishing hook and fed to the sharks for consumption, we were promised el-dorado but ended in the desert while the hyenas enjoy the vegetation, it green shades and fat meats to enjoy alone.

• Our children will ask us and we will be proud to tell them we did our best
