We get to send up to four score reports at no charge right??

N8000? It is not a promo and I used it to send some of my score reports to atleast 5 or 6 schools. The rate was better for me because ETS charges $27 to send each score report which is still N8100 at N300/$ and I doubt banks charge that low.

Yeah. When I bought the MGRE practice questions, zenith charged N381/$. So makes great sense to pay N8000.

Just because He might be too busy to respond soon to you, He is already in the US undergoing his PhD in Molecular Cell Biology or so at the University of Texas in Dallas fully-funded with a very generous stipend - his own words.

He has a very strong profile and is one of the few people especially on this thread who cracked the 330 (Q-165 V- 165 AWA- 4.5)GRE score in his first try!

The girl I told you about in NYU Stern used some experts. 2.1 Accounting degree, 319 GRE 104 TOEFL. She paid N300k late 2015 or so.

Yea, she got fully-funded into Stern for her MBA. Her $71k tuition waived with a $5000/month stipend.

The point is, the credible ones work yet sometimes they don't but if you have the money (which you do). Give it a try. UT Austin, Duke, MIT Sloan etc. if they end up giving you a good/full tuition waiver, you won't remember how much you paid the consultants.

Exactly how I was thinking. Why not go all in!

Hi, I don't think you really need any admission consultant. I really doubt their expertise. You seem like a really intelligent person and all the information you need in contained in this thread, the USA visa thread in the travel section and forums like gradcafe.

One of the joy of this process is doing it yourself and it actually prepares you for graduate school because you would learn some valuable skills and it boost your self confidence immensely.

You can always request help on forum about things that might be proving intractable. Cheers.
I get your point but my case is somewhat different; I'm applying to business school.
I won't be using Nigerian consultants of course; the ones I've in mind are based out of London/Mumbai and have a 92% success rate.

For engineering candidates, there's probably less focus on the finer things; B-school is a whole different ball game.

oh sorry dear you predicted wrongly,i know am a very serious student i had some issues back then in school ranging from finances and lecturers which affected my carrer i had a year i couldn't get back to school i didn't deffer that year i wrote the exams it was carried over as extra school year..

i know am a determined and focused lady situations turned so many things around my life but i feel everything happened for a reason maybe to build me up for greater heights i know going back for another degree in that desired field,i will do so much better in a principled environment i went through alot of emotional trauma/sexual harrasment. yea i still feel pained for such grade but God knows why i know am not dumb my course mates i graduated with in the same department with good cgpa are still looking for jobs which one came one day to my hospital with cv but it happened for me with 3figured pay.

i know if i had atleast 2.5/5 i would be out of the country now but the cgpa has prevented lots from me,but who knows ? The creator knows
why i went through all these
N/B what am i saying? You don't have to conclude on peoples life many things led to all that happened on that cgpa which i think environment influenced it more am a determined lady destined to do exploits.

Well, there we are!

Second MBA?

It's difficult to believe you require a second MBA to function optimally at work.

The VO probably thought you have a different motive than studying. I share this line of thought too.

Especially when everyone knows that Networking takes >50% of an MBA programme.
What network is he going to build at "miramar university"?
Some people just enjoy making us all look bad.

If you use a "simple book", you'll be setting yourself up for a "simple score".
Use Manhattan's book series, they're very good.

Thanks.... Will check for more, I just sincerely hope there's funding for this course.

Hehe...do NOT hope to find funding.
Even if you're super exceptional, you'll probably not get a substantial amount. In fact, Columbia (despite is huge endowment) puts it out straight; no "merit-based or need-based financial aid"

Problem is, it's hard to justify funding students in a profession that is perceived to be self-serving; If you get in a programme with great placements, you may be able to take on some student debt.

I finished with a CGPA of 2.8 , does that matter ?

Okay, so I'll just jump in with some oversight here.

In this 21st century, the tacit rule of any decent conversation is to NOT pose questions that could be answered by a google search in less than 0.0005 seconds.

Instead of:
"I finished with a CGPA of 2.8 , does that matter ?"
What you wanna ask is:
"I've done this, this and that - do you think these can make up for my GPA; how do I highlight my strengths?"

I've found this thread very incisive especially because of the people who come here to share their experiences, opinions, and answer decent questions - even when they do not have to. They put in a lot of effort to address people concerns and worries; it only makes sense that we - as "I nquisitioners" - also put WELL THOUGHT OUT QUESTIONS on here so that we are not repelling.

Maybe before we put questions up, we want to ask: "can this question be answered by google or bing?"

Put up questions that are nuanced and situational, not just bland ones.

Applying for a US visa is designed to not require the services of charlatans such as these. Consult them at your own peril.

Hehe...especially if you are applying as a student who can read and write; handing off your application to some "omnipotent" agent can only get you in trouble.

Hi gokuu, I Read your previous post about you getting 162 in verbal, please can you give me some guide on how you achieved that... I did mine today and had V141 Q163...

Oh my, your Q is really good.
I basically used Magoosh videos for the verbal; I didn't focus on it so much because my English is a bit decent. I may not be the best person to give advice on V as I didn't really have a coordinated strategy on that.

But I think manhattan's V are quite close to the actual exam, you could gain a lot from their materials.

You have a stellar GPA. That would amount to Magna cum laude or in some cases Summa Cum laude. No doubt, you will be competitive with your GPA, GRE, internships, etc. Please get solid LORs from your professors and maybe one from where you interned. It's just sad most Nigerian lecturers don't know how to write solid LORs except those that have foreign exposure.

How I wish you could work for McKinsey and the likes for 2-3 years and then give Harvard Business School or Wharton a shot for the MBA. But the path you are taking now is an excellent one. Give it your best shot, you will achieve your goal.

Generally, Finance and Accounting are not classified as STEM but since the one you are applying to is classified STEM, that's great.

Would you like to try MIT's MFin program? You have nothing to lose but you application fee ($90?) but everything to gain if you get in. MIT does need-blind financial aid, meaning their scholarship is not by merit but need-based. So if you are good enough to get in, you are definitely going to go.

I have a friend who got his MBA from SloanMIT almost FOC although he did his BS in the States. It's possible I see him tomorrow so I can ask him more details about it and give updates.

You deserve the best and nothing less.

Great. I'll really appreciate that.

On funding, I don't mind getting some debt but it would have to be for a school with an extremely high placement rate and decent median pay.

My thoughts exactly. I have some decent lecturers tho, I just have to go and sit on top of them to get it done. That'll be my project for the next month, including first draft essays.

As per STEM, see pic...

Congrats on cracking the GRE.

I see that you are pursuing a business Degree which is beautiful and I intend to some day. Most business schools now accept the GRE in lieu of the GMAT. While many schools give a hint of the GMAT scores of their current class, most don't publish that of GRE. I heard many schools are still learning how to juxtapose those two exams. But your score should translate to about 690 on GMAT.

You didn't tell us your profile and the kind of leadership/work experience you already possess cos these are huge factors considered for b-school. I bet you already know that. Also, what's your discipline? STEM or other fields?

As per H1B, the easier way I know is going through the OPT route. If you are in STEM, you can do that up to 3 years, and if not, you will only have 12 months. During this period, you can prove yourself in a company or network so well that you finally get a company that will be willing to go through the stress of sponsoring you. And with Trump in the WH, he is seriously trying to make the conditions more stringent. That means your skills must be in high demand to be considered.

Somehow, some schools consider diversity in admissions and they have a way of mixing it. But some give out admit based on a person's merit and not on his/her demography. You can check out the website of school you are looking at. I know someone in the SGSB taking advantage of the program they have for African students and is highly competitive. So somehow they look at diversity.

BTW how do you intend to fund your studies at the b-school?
Thank you.
I'm not applying to the MBA program, I'm applying to Masters in Finance program; I do not have the work exp. required to be effective in an MBA program. The MFin I'm looking at are early careers programs. They do not require any experience; in fact, they require that applicants to have no more than 3 years of work experience.

As per my general profile;
I graduated about 18 months ago.
UG GPA: 4.85/5.00
I've done five finance internships both as an UG and post graduation and will soon complete NYSC. I've also held student leadership positions and I can wait to highlight them on my application.
GRE: 324

The Program I'm applying to are actually STEM-based; they're more "quantitative finance" than "finance".
