They look broke.
Personally, I don't like poor people. Just a preference.

China didnt know anything, they're actually paying couples to have more kids nowadays!

Spain recently brought a minister of sex or something of that nature

Japan is encouraging marriage n are running out of youths!

Do u need me to go on? Ireland, Finland, etc

Haha...totally fact-free write up!

First, the Chinese simply eased their one-child policy to allow for only two children (and there are conditions to even qualify)

Second, Spain is trying to boost a declining population. This is not the situation Nigeria finds herself; In fact, we are on the other side of this. If you have any thoughtfulness, you will know that countries make policy based on their won needs and peculiarities - not that of other countries.
Can you order a Rolls Royce just because Dangote has one? You will only be killing yourself!

Third, Japan is experiencing an ageing population. This is not Nigeria's situation.

P.S.: Try to put data in context before you go on babbling them out into the world. A thorough check may reveal a thing or two.

May be you are oblivious of the fact that your country pays highest salaries to the politicians in the whole world. And on top of that, they also loot trillions is naira yearly. Money that can be used to help parents, monies that can be used to train kids by government, monies that can be used to build hospitals.

Are you surprise that your country is a failure when you believe kids are not government responsibility. Do you even know that the food you as a person eat daily sometimes are too poor for dogs in the USA to eat ? The truth is, that everyone in this country is the responsibility of the government, even more so the kids. Do you have an idea of this ?

You guys dont cease me amaze me daily. The level of ignorance in Nigeria is just appalling.

You are truly deplorable.
Someone is talking about GDP and taxes and you are talking about looting of funds.
We all agree that government has not lived up to expectations, but even if there was no corruption; such a robust social welfare system would be impossible to create without a burgeoning economy where both the formal and informal sectors are paying high taxes.

At the moment, the informal sector - which constitutes more than 70% of the economy - pay near zero taxes. The GDP per capita in Nigeria is also nothing to write home about!

Simply put, we are not in any position to maintain a "government-are-the-parents" system.

If you do not have money for kids, use birth control - its cheap.

Yes in truth, Children does belong to the Government or State... but that does not mean people should be having Kids that they cant care for in Countries that doesnt have Social Security. For all I care those Parents should be arrested and sent to Jail. Untill the Government can provide Social security, dont have Kids you cant take care of yourself

Exactly. Very smart. Especially since we all know that the Nigerian system is, right now, incapable of caring for these kids.
People must also realize that higher taxes are required to create such a strong social safety net.

You lack knowledge of what government's responsibilities are. You might want to ask what Social Security, Welfare Packages, Tax Rebates and Educational Loans are about. You minions who havent any slightest idea how the rest of the world works keep advertising your ignorance.

Good luck with that.

You are indeed very ignorant.
You talk about social security, but fail to mention that huge taxes are required for this. How many Nigerians are in the tax pool? VERY FEW!

It is really dumb of you to talk about tax rebates because you at least have to have paid taxes before you get a rebate. Do you honestly think the man in question has ever paid any taxes?

Get a grip of yourself and stop expecting handouts, unless you are advocating for minimum tax rates of 40% or more.

Do not say that. There is something called Social Security and Social Welfare Programmes in other countries. Children belong to Government in the real sense of the word. Try and beat up and injure your child and see if you wont be sent to jail.

So, let the government take care of those children. They are not just there to steal money and send their own kids abroad.

Do you want the father of those kids to go and steal so the masses can lynch and burn him ?

You are very wrong.
The social welfare programmes is not an excuse to go on a breeding rampage.
BTW, welfare covers only little. Despite welfare, lots of children in the UK and US still live in poverty.

If you like, go on and have plenty children and be waiting for government, na you go tire. Nonsense!

I don't understand how the Bible, a religious material, is relevant in a Human Rights discussion.

Nigeria is not a Theocracy! The question is not one about "sin", but about "crime"?

If we governed based on what the Bible deems "sin", then I think Nigeria should be surrounded by thick metal bars cos we would all be imprisoned.

Are you drunk? What does annoying have to do with this? A driver is supposed to drive to where he/she is told to drive to.

Driving is not supposed to be a fancy job where egos are massaged, taking shit is part of the job description.

cheesy
What will you rather the idle poor man be doing? It's the failure of Government in engaging him that gives him the time and space to keep reproducing.
Look and countries like Japan and a few others where their citizens are so busy the government has to grant them incentives to get married.
The point still remains Nigeria's problems are not large population induced, they are borne out of leadership failure.

There is leadership failure, however, that is an illegitimate problem. The fact that we have a leadership crisis in Nigeria does not mean that we will be spared of the LEGITIMATE challenges that confront a nation like population size. A problem half-solved is always better.

Hunger will soon control it

Apparently, hunger has not controlled it.
The reason is logic; the vast majority of people causing the population explosion are not logical people.
To them, every problem is a nail and the only hammer is MORE BABIES with the hope that maybe one may make it. Its a deranged proposition.

Myopic.
We should have a policy that reduces the birthrate in this country. We are headed for a disaster if we do not do something now, it's crazy - especially amongst lower income people.

This is very true.
Sometimes when I look at beggars with lots of children by their sides. .some of them have twins with other kids. .I've seen a beggar with two sets of twins. . .it makes me wonder if one is supposed to pity them. .how can you be this poor begging for money and still Hot you enough to keep giving birth to more children. .while regular people have few kids and know when to hold themselves back from producing more. .poor people on the other hand keep bringing children who they can't guarantee their upbringing, education. .some of these parents hardly even care. .they just keep producing more.

Exactly, most beggars have boatloads of children that they cannot take care of.
It is a serious problem because it perpetuates the vicious cycle of poverty.
Children get born into poverty.
Fail to get good education as a result of poverty.
Grow up to become a nuisance.
Have kids in poverty.
...and the Vicious Cycle of Poverty is rejuvenated.

Politics / State Department Approves U.S. Sale Of Attack Planes To Nigeria by gokuu(m): 9:29pm On Aug 03, 2017
The State Department has approved a possible sale to Nigeria of 12 high-tech attack planes and related equipment worth nearly $600 million, the Pentagon said Thursday.

"These aircraft will support Nigerian military operations against terrorist organizations Boko Haram and [the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria] West Africa, and Nigerian efforts to counter illicit trafficking in Nigeria and the Gulf of Guinea," the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in a notice published Thursday. "Nigeria is an important partner in the U.S. national security goal to defeat ISIS, including its branches in Africa, and this sale is part of the U.S. commitment to help Nigeria and the Lake Chad Basin countries in that fight."

The Trump administration's approval of the sale, which was rumored months ago, comes after the Obama administration put a hold on it amid accusations that Nigeria's air force was bombing civilians.

The sale entails a dozen A-29 Super Tucano aircraft, according to the notice. The Super Tucano, made by contractor Sierra Nevada Corp., is a light attack plane designed for counter-insurgency, close air support and aerial reconnaissance missions.

The estimated value of the sale is $593 million and includes associated training, spare parts, aviation and ground support equipment, as well as a hangar, facilities and infrastructure required to support the program.

Representatives from the U.S. government and the contractor will need to go to Nigeria for training and logistical help. The training will include special instructions on the laws of armed conflict, human rights and air-to-ground integration to minimize civilian harm, the notice added.

"The proposed sale, and associated training and engagement, is one piece of broader U.S. security cooperation to help professionalize, modernize and build the capacity of Nigeria's armed forces and strengthen the U.S. security relationship with Africa's largest democracy," the notice said. "Nigeria will have no difficulty absorbing these aircraft into its armed forces."

Congress was notified Wednesday and has 30 days from then to block the sale if it so chooses.

Former President Obama had halted the sale after a Nigerian fighter jet repeatedly bombed a camp of civilians who fled Boko Haram, killing more than 230.

But President Trump indicated shortly after he took office that he supported the sale.

In a February call with Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, Trump "expressed support for the sale of aircraft from the United States to support Nigeria's fight against Boko Haram," according to a White House summary of the talk.
