Chapter 26
Chapter title: His home

After the Sunday mass, Genevieve went to a mini market very close to her house to get groceries. She smiled knowingly to herself as she picked up her stuff packed in the market's signature paper bag.

"Bye, Mrs Puth. Say hi to little Marcus for me."

"Sure will, Genevieve. Don't forget to tell your mum about the ointment please. The rash's no longer a joke my dear. I could barely sleep." The storekeeper announced, both hands clasping her neck in distress. Genevieve nodded, hoping she'd remember to deliver the message. She'd been out of it lately, even at the church, the grin was so wide spread that it caused her mother to panic.

She strolled towards her street with a huge smile on. Suddenly, she felt a prickle at the back of her neck as if someone was watching her. She whirled back only to see no one. She sighed, She was definitely loosing it.

But that wasn't an excuse for her legs because it took two long strides followed by heavy steps. She felt an edgy feeling and she turned back, this time, carefully scanning the entire vicinity for clues. Her eyes found a black range rover parked two houses away, it was idling.

It was getting dark already plus the darkly tinted windows of the car, making it impossible to see who was behind the wheel. The car moved forward. It was as if it was challenging her, sending her a message.

'I know who you are, be warned'

The hair on her arms stood as panic set in. It was drawing near. She couldn't help but thank God for the sundress she wore making it a lot easier to run. She began but bumped into something, a fully clothed chest, she moved back, staggering a little but hands held unto hers firmly, she was almost yelling for help when she heard a familiar voice putting her heart to rest.

"I think I deserve an award or something. The second time I've saved you from falling in less than 24 hours. What do you think?"

She ignored him, looking back quickly only to see the car disappear in the streets. Gabriel watched her then followed her gaze for a while then finally landed on her.

"Are you alright. Genevieve?"

She bit her lips then faced him. Maybe it was all in her head and the car was probably lost or something.

But who'd be watching her and why?

She could see his eyes filled with worry as it searched hers, she waved off every negative thoughts about the car. And forced out a smile.

"Yeah, Gabriel. Thanks. I owe you one. Huge one"

"Well....you can as well pay me" he buried his hands in both pockets, shrugging broad shoulders.

"What do you mean?" She squinted her eyes, studying his face closely.

He laughed, a heavy one "A date, Genevieve"

"A date?"

"Yeah, so what do you say? Tomorrow night, I'll pick you up after work."

"I don't know, Gabriel." Genevieve muttered.

wouldn't this be called cheating? She thought. But she and Daniel weren't even a couple yet.

"Hey, just a friendly date, I promise."

She remembered Daniel's warning. She gnawed on her nails. Daniel would be blazing with fury if he saw them together let alone a date? She knew that but Gabriel, how could she possibly terminate his offer he'd been a good lad helping her out lately, refusing would be nothing close to pay back.

"Cross my heart." He said pulling her away from her thoughts. He crossed both hands over his chest then made an exaggerated pout.

She laughed. "Alright, just a date."

"But if you wanna make it more than just a date. Who am I to decline." he winked.

"Oh! really?"

They laughed, sauntering towards her house.

She frowned, suddenly remembering she owed him an apology "Gabriel, I'm so sorry about yesterday"

"That's exactly why I came, to check up on you. Is everything okay with your boss?"

She blushed, blushed hard. "Yeah" she whispered.

"Genevieve!"

She heard her name from behind, her eyes widened as saucers. That voice so familiar that it made shiver run down her spine. What was he doing here? She halted, turning to Gabriel, apprehension settling at the pit of her stomach. Gabriel stared back confusedly then looked behind to see a figure slowly approaching.

Daniel clenched both fists malevolently, making his knuckles turn a different shade. His dark eyes burning in sheer anger that could burn villages. He came all the way to her house but definitely not to see this.

He warned her to steer clear of Gabriel but what did she do? Didn't take his warnings seriously. The urge to drive his fist into someone's face was threatening to explode as fury set in. They both turned to him. Genevieve with her eyes shut, she took in deep breaths while Gabriel, he looked utterly puzzled as his eyes flickered between Genevieve and Daniel, unable to come up with something.

Daniel exhaled, trying to keep his rage in check, without saying a word, he grabbed Genevieve by the arm then pulled her taking long strides as he proceeded towards his car. She increased her pace to meet up with his. He opened the passenger's side then threw her gently in it and closed the door. He jogged over to his, slide in then started the ignition, leaving a stunned Gabriel engulfed in the darkness.

"What was that about?"

"I thought I told you I didn't want him around you"

"But he wasn't doing anything"

"Stay away from him!" He yelled, making her gasp. He softened a little "please" he whispered.

She gulped, turning away to stare out the window with a hard glare. He didn't have any right to tell her who she could meet. That made her madden.

Daniel noticed, he closed his eyes, taking deep breaths "Look, I'm sorry" he said softly.

Silence greeted the statement, she didn't say anything but continued to glaze out the window.

Few minutes later, he pulled over at a private parking lot. She studied the unrecognised area then turned to him. "Where's this?"

"My home"

the inconsistency in your update is killing the story, no offence but I have to go back and read the previous update to catch up. I'll suggest you pick a day in a week for updating just like souloho19, so we won't have to be refreshing every now and then. my opinion though. #peaceout

Chapter 25
Chaptet title: promise me

They were now sitting in his car just outside the building. He turned to Genevieve who looked so flushed. She fiddled with the hem of her dress. She could feel his eyes fixated on her, watching her every move.

Then she heard him whisper "Genevieve" so softly making her stomach churn. She loved the way he called out her name, she loved the way it rolled off his tongue. Alluring and intoxicating.

"I care about you a lot"

Those words sent her pulse racing. He was now caressing her fingers with his thumbs, igniting the fire within her as her heart pounded carelessly against her ribcage.

"I-i don't K-know what to say" she said shyly, even she was surprised that she could speak. She stole a quick glance only to see him lean back on his seat and sigh.

"I'm sorry"

"No Genevieve" he leaned forward then held her face in his palms. "I understand. Okay?"

She nodded "it's, it's just..one minute you're my boss, now this"

She watched him silently as he closed his eyes for a few seconds then opened it "you know what, let's get you home"

* *

The drive to her house was an awkward silence. She wished it wouldn't be. Every aspect was spent with her glancing at him from time to time. He would smile at her occasionally but she knew it wasn't sincere.

Was he mad at her?

Maybe a little. She was only trying to protect herself which wasn't wrong.

"We're here"

She jolted out of her thoughts, not knowing when they arrived.

"Thank you" she said slowly as she unstrapped the seatbelt then turned to leave when his arms pulled her back against his hard chest.

Daniel watched her unstrap her seatbelt. He couldn't imagine his world without her in it, he didn't care anymore, he loved her and she'd just have to accept it. So he shot out his arms and pulled her into him. He ignored her soft gasp, pushing her even closer till there was barely a hair's breath between them.

"Daniel" she sounded so breathless. He smirked in satisfaction, knowing the effect he had on her. Up close, her hands brushed over his thighs and she blushed, dropping her hands in a hurry. Daniel caught them, his intent clearly written in his piercing black eyes.

"I've never felt this way before, Genevieve. It's killing me" he groaned. He could hear her breath hitch for a second.

"I want you to promise me one thing"

She nodded quickly as she found herself lost in his gaze.

"I don't want you anywhere around that doctor" he kissed her forehead.

Genevieve swallowed "Gabriel? But he's been helpful"

She watched his eyes blaze slightly in anger but he soon shook it off, strolling his lips to hers. He pecked her briefly then whispered "promise me"

Her hands shook in his as she felt a burning sensation surge through her. She nodded quickly. He smiled then captured her lips in his, his hands unconciously left hers, advancing slowly to encircle her waist and wrap her legs around his waist but it seemed impossible due to the dress.

Damn that dress! He mentally groaned.

"As gorgeous as you look in this dress but I'd so much prefer it gone" he whispered just below her lips.

She gasped at his words. He smirked, holding her face instead and kissing her silly, letting her know she belonged to him and no one else.

"Genevieve, are you there?" A voice threw them back in their seats. Genevieve panicked knowing it was her mum. She blushed as she sucked on her lips knowing it was definitely swollen.

She turned to Daniel "i have to go now. Goodnight" she declared quickly not waiting a split second, she jumped out not wanting him to do more damage to her lips. She could hear his loud laughter even as he was already moving out of her property then he zoomed off into the streets.

She continued to suck on her lips, trying to erode every telltale sign as she slowly approached her mum.

"What were you doing in there?" Mrs Miller stood behind the front door, hands akimbo.

"Um. He was just explaining a few things-"

Her mum looked sceptical"oh really? In his car. Who's he if I may ask?" She asked in a reprimanding tone.

"Eh. Mr. Coker"

Genevieve watched as her mum softened a bit "hmm, but be careful Genevieve" Mrs miller said but Genevieve didn't miss the little smile on her mum's face instead.

* * *

Daniel couldn't stop the grin from invading his face as he advanced towards the bar Vincent owned.

"He's grinning. Hot date?" Vincent laughed, giving his cousin a side hug.

"Better"

"Ohh. Okay...hot sex?"

"Vincent, come on, think outside the box. Your box" Daniel laughed, he sat on a barstool then faced the bartender.

"Tequila sir?"

"Nah. Whisky" Daniel replied.

"You didn't just say whisky. You never just order that unless something's up, something good" Vincent sounded surprised as he sat beside his cousin. "Whoever is working your pants. I want her, she must be damn good"

Daniel chuckled then he imagined Genevieve and Vincent, legs cuddled up atop silk sheets and he cringed, his possessive side kicking in, he soon felt his hands in a tight fist but he released them immediately.

"Come on Daniel, I share my ladies with you"

"I've found her"

"Her? What do you mean her?" Vincent gaped alarmingly at his cousin.

Daniel simply chuckled "do you remember the girl I told you about seven months again. She worked at Willie's place. Remember?"

"How could I possibly forget Daniel, you talked so much about her. I was already thinking you were loosing it man. Thank heavens you stopped"

"Did I mention she's my PA?"

"Hold up man, how come you never informed me, you searched for her or what? Dude, you're so fucking obsessed"

"She found me" Daniel grinned.

Wait, no wonder you didn't wait to kiss her that night. You're insane Daniel. So what's the plan?"

"What do you mean?"

"Get her laid of course. Or you already did? dude. Wicked! Now I understand that grin. You're the man!"

"You're unbelievable. I did no such thing"

"What! Then what are you waiting for? To get her to completely mess with your brain? Come on"

Daniel looked at him for a second. Vincent was someone who never believed in love, explaining to him would be like talking to a penguin.

He sighed "I'm in love with her"

Vincent laughed "I thought for a sec you said you were in love with her, man" Vincent laughed harder, hitting his fists on the counter then he turned to Daniel only to see a blank look, he cleared his throat then said "oh. You're serious. Wow! she got you, she got you bad"

Daniel chuckled "she's mine, Vincent, that's all that matters"

"Gosh! I think I'm gonna be sick"

Daniel laughed, soon Vincent joined.

* * *

Genevieve chewed on her lips, stirring in bed. Her mind, filled with the images of Daniel, his sudden confession. He knew her long before she did. The thought of him going to uncle Willie's place only to see her made her feel tingles down her spine.

She couldn't contain the emotions anymore, so she picked up her phone and dialled Kelvin's number. The phone rang for seemingly endless minutes.

"He should be asleep" she concluded, knowing for a fact it was already past 12A.M, Kelvin would probably think she'd lost it. She drummed her fingers impatiently on the sheets, almost giving up when she heard a voice.

"Hello? Who the hell is this?!!"
He sounded so maddened, but she noticed one thing. He was short of breath. Genevieve laughed, knowing she definitely disrupted something. A make out or more.

"It's Genevieve. Er..I know it's late and, and I shouldn't-"

"One fucking A.M! I said call me but not this late!!!" he cut her off, clearly not happy about the wrong timing.

Genevieve sighed, she should have waited till morning. "forget about it, Kelvin. I'll deal with it myself"

She was about hanging up but his voice retracted her.

"Wait..." He said, his voice tinged with worry. She could hear rustling sounds from the other end and tiny bickers. She suddenly felt guilty.

"Is this about Daniel?" She heard him sigh.

"Yes" she answered silently.

"Tell me Genny, did he do anything? I promise to throttle him if he lays just a single paper cut on you"

Genevieve laughed "only if you don't chicken out"

"I won't, sooo?" He urged her.

She let out a sharp intake of air then rolled on her left, placing the phone properly against her ear.

"He said he cares about me Kelvin, I'm so scared. What if...what if he hurts me in the end"

"Gosh, Genny, stop the what ifs..how'd you know when you haven't even tried giving him a chance. From the beginning, I knew it was going to come to this. Look, he wouldn't spend this much of his time if he didn't want you"

"My mum said that"

"You see, your mum agrees. Genny, you love him, don't you?"

She thought for a second, did she? Love was something she'd never felt before.

"Well-"

"Don't even try to explain anything. It's a yes or no question" she could feel him roll his eyes.

"I don't know Kelvin"

"You're just too much. Girls would die to get him to glance at them but here you are. Are you that oblivious to what's around you?. I won't force you into anything. It's your life Genny, live it yourself" he paused then continued "now I've lost Tesha"

Genevieve felt a pang in her chest "oh my gosh, Kelvin, I'm so sorry"

Kelvin laughed "it's just a one night thing Genny, no strings attached. She'll come around, I'm sure of that. She couldn't stop moaning my name all night"

"Unbelievable!! Why did I come to you for an advice? You're obviously not the right candidate"

"So no thank you. You're-"

She hung up, rolling her eyes but she stopped, thinking about a certain man before gradually loosing to sleep.

Thanks for reading, so next update will be on Wednesday.

Chapter 24
Chapter title: falling deeply...

"Aren't we there yet?"

"Almost" Daniel squeezed her fingers reassuringly as they strolled far away from the building. He stared at her with dark eyes filled with amusement. She looked so cute as she pouted like an adorable puppy.

Genevieve sighed, her heels sending her signals of all sorts through the throbbing pain she felt underneath. Soon she could hear water lapping, knowing definitely that there was a pool close by. Then a huge water fountain came into view with roses decorating it and different coloured lights glistening in the clear crystal water.

Genevieve squealed lightly as her eyes danced around the private area. Very close to the pool was a small wooden table and two chairs which decked the floor and modern lights which stopped to blink occasionally. She turned to Daniel, seeing his mouth curved into a smile.

"So, I figured you haven't had anything, so i..." He trailed off, raking his hand through his hair with a look that held embarrassment.

Genevieve grinned, not knowing how to respond. she hoisted herself up, standing on her tiptoes and quickly placed a brief kiss on his lips.

Daniel groaned inaudibly when she retracted her lips, he shot out an arm wanting to circle it around her waist, but she was faster. She giggled as she hastily peeled out a chair and hurriedly landed her butt on it.

He let out a heavy sigh before resuming his as he did, he couldn't help but notice that subtle glow on Genevieve's face as her shoulders shook slightly from laughing too hard. She was indeed a beauty that should be treated no less than what she was.

Genevieve's laughter soon died down as she found herself pinned under his smouldering black eyes. She gulped silently, feeling butterflies run amok in her stomach. His dark eyes were hooded with desire which set her pulse racing. The seats stood adjacent but situated so close that she could feel his harsh breath tickling her face.

"You look beautiful tonight" Daniel whispered, his eyes still not leaving hers.

"Thank you" she said, the words coming out in a breathless whisper. Then it hit her hard as fast as a moving truck. The dress, it's been close to four hours yet her brain didn't find it deem to say a thank you. She ducked her head while playing with the edge of the table cloth "Um...thanks for the dress, and you know...everything" she blushed "I feel like a princess"

"You're a princess"

'My princess' he added rather to himself. Heaven knows even if she was wrapped around rags she'd still look elegant.

"But you shouldn't have" she said softly, refusing to look at his face.

Daniel chuckled, he was about giving her a reply, one that'd set the butterflies in her stomach on full force but instead, he turned to a beefy guy standing behind Genevieve.

"We'll eat now, Russo" Daniel nodded at the cook.

"Very well, sir"

The Cook's departure brought an awkward silence between them. Her hands were lying eccentrically on the table, Daniel reached out and grasped each with his. She could feel heat sear her from head to toe, making her heart hammer.

"It's okay to be nervous around me. I mean, have you seen me?" Daniel taunted, wriggling his brows.

She quickly tore her fingers from his, leaned back on her chair then folded her arms. "Yeah, I have. Permit me to say that you look like a horse" she gave him a blank look but deep within her she knew he was far from that. Very far.

Daniel threw his head back as he laughed hard "oh Genevieve" then he stopped abruptly. Her words sinking into him, he frowned "seriously, a horse? You could've come up with something else but a horse?"

Now it was her turn to laugh, she stopped then looked at the disgusted look on his face and began again "I'm sorry. It was that or a hippo" she snickered.

"A hippo?" He repeated the word so softly, if she wasn't watching him so intently she could have missed it.

Daniel was surprised by her words. He knew it was only a joke, but it made him ponder. No one ever insulted his looks before and here, she did in an instant. As queer as it was he found it rather charming. He smiled softly to himself wanting to play along.

"I didn't know that" he whispered, his eyes feigning hurt. He hoped his lips wouldn't give away anything.

He watched her soften then she sighed, he fought the urge to laugh right away.

"I..I didn't mean any of those, I was only joking"

"I guess" he turned away sadly.

"Daniel" she held his face with both palms, pulling him towards her. "I promise, you look nothing..absolutely nothing like that"  she pecked him on his cheek then pinched it slowly.

"Sir, ma'am" Russo came up, he placed the different mouth-watering meals on the table. They both cleared their throats, falling apart.

"Bon appetite" the cook executed an elaborate bow. Then grinned his way out as his presence disrupted the couple's undying romance.

* * *

Daniel and Genevieve sat on a wooden bench in the gazebo. It was so beautiful as they were engulfed in it's unfading warmth. It was adorned by modern lights and a magnificent view of the dusky sky.

"Everything around here feels so welcoming" she turned to Daniel with a wide smile.

"Especially when you're with someone you adore" he smiled back. She turned away as different thoughts invaded her mind. Why couldn't he just tell her what she craved to hear.

She sucked in a breath when his hands dragged her head to face him squarely.

"Can I tell you something?"

She nodded quickly, finding it hard to locate her voice.

"Since the day I saw you Genevieve, working. I couldn't take my eyes off you. I was-"

She blinked, not fully understanding his words she had to butt in " but you met me at the office"

He chuckled weakly, she could feel the hesitation in it "no, no. Far from that Genevieve" he sighed deeply "you previously worked at a coffee shop named Uncle Willie's place right?"

Her eyes widened as she stared at him incredulously, refusing to believe. She worked for old man Willie far before she became a brand ambassador for the company.

"Shocking? I know. I hated going to coffee shops but I came across Willie's place, something pulled me into it. Something so strong that I couldn't resist"

"It's scent?" she asked stupidly as she gulped.

He chuckled richly "you did, watching you from a mile away work the register I found myself lost and I went in. But you didn't seem to look my way since you were engrossed in whatever you were doing-" he paused then looked so deeply in her eyes, searching them slowly "-I found myself coming every damn day just to stare at you in the hopes of meeting you"

"I'm sorry" she whispered.

"Don't be, then one day I did come but to find you gone, I asked an employee but she said you resigned, can I ask why?"

Genevieve nodded, old man Willie died, he was like a father she craved for so caring, sweet and lovable. She couldn't wrap her head around the fact that he was gone. She wasn't ever going to see him again. He was old, a 70 but not old enough to suddenly fade away due to a mild fall. Still working for the shop did more harm to her so she told Mrs Willie, his widowed wife, upon her departure.

"Mr. Willie died" she muttered sighing.

"I'm sorry" he held her palm and caressed it.

Daniel stared at her remembering how he looked forward to each day just to go to the coffee shop only because she was in it. His world finally felt welcoming, something he lost since his mother died but when he found out she was no longer there. His hopes came crashing down, his memories of her was all he had left. He wanted to go searching for her himself but he waved off the thought, maybe it wasn't meant to be. Maybe it was best he never saw her again. But he was so damn wrong.

"But you hated me so much" her words plunged into his thoughts, snapping him back to reality.

He thought for a second, he made himself think that. He said that over and over again wanting his brain to familiarise each word. It was an easy way out of love. Especially for the weak like him. It scared him, it scared him so much. All his life a girl never made him want something so bad, a girl never pulled his senses away from him, downing them with so much desire instead. He couldn't possibly let it happen, girls swooned and fanned at his feet, he was always in charge. Genevieve amazed him. Her boldness, the way she'd handled all his words when he'd lashed out at her in the beginning. She was different, his kind of different.

"I tried to Genevieve, believe me. I tried but it clearly didn't work. I mean, look at us" they both laughed at his words. "I'm sorry if I hurt you in any way okay?" How stupid was he to act so rudely towards her.

"I can't keep lying to myself Genevieve, I'm falling, falling deeply. I'm way past the edge already" he brought her fingers to his lips then kissed them softly.

"It's..It's all happening too fast" she whispered.

"Shh..I know, I won't rush you into anything. Take your time but don't make me wait too long" he said as he kissed her fingers again one after the other.

Genevieve couldn't help as doubts settled in her head like a dense cloud. What if this was all a pretence? He finally confessed to her right but why couldn't she trust him? She'd never fallen in love before and never in a million years would she think it would be her boss. She knew him barely four months and he, a year now.

What if she gets too attached and he hurts her?

But what if the tale was just made up and he got her previous jobs investigated?

What if Melissa was right, he was going to dump her thereafter.

What was her issue with trust anyway?

"Genevieve. Are you alright? I know I shouldn't have told you any of these this early. I'm sorry, but I just couldn't help it. I promise. Baby steps" he carefully pulled her unto his laps.

She peered at him and couldn't denial that her heart yearned for his touch. I trust him. She repeated over and over to herself. She hugged him then buried her face in the crook of his neck. She let out a breath, a breath she wished would be nothing close to regret.

Chapter 23
Title: His snack.

Daniel gripped her arm firmly, with the look he gave her, he didn't look too pleased either. Genevieve looked back, staring apologetically at Gabriel, he waved his hand. She quickly mouthed a thank you before Daniel carefully took her away from the room and into another, a private room, more of the VIP area. He locked the door behind him, pushing her back against it then he gritted out.

"What is he doing here?"

"I-i don't know, I didn't give him an invite. I promise" she thought very carefully, knowing it was Tope who did.

"I don't want him anywhere around you, Genevieve-"

"But he saved me from falling"

"I know, I know" Daniel scratched his hair, looking around "with the way he held unto you" he sighed.

She bit her lips, slowly looking away, she blushed at the intimate position they were now in, her back against the door, whilst his body almost sinking right into her. She looked at him then giggled.

Daniel rose a brow as he watched her, she knew it sounded rather queer, out of all times to sound girly, she chose now.

"Genevieve" he whispered softly, eyes searching hers intensely, he shifted his eyes to her lips, suddenly craving for them. She knew how to manipulate his moods.

"You clearly don't know you the effect you cause on men, do you?"

She giggled again, making him chuckle.

He looked away "of course you don't, why am I even asking" then he looked back, only to see her grin.

She bit her lip nervously as she said slowly, in an endearing tone "why don't you tell me sir-"

He shook his head, muttering "Daniel"

"Okay" she said quietly "why don't you tell me, Daniel" she blushed making him groan as they looked at each other.

God help him if she continues, only heaven would save him from taking her right there.

She smiled, shifting her eyes to his lips, then his eyes then finally rested on his lips. Their ragged breaths were now filling the entire room, she leaned up, panting then rested her forehead against his. Her fingers slowly found it's way, wrapping around his neck. She bit her lip one more time before finally closing the gap between them.

Daniel eyes widened as he quickly wrapped his arms around her waist, pouring his heart right into the kiss. He used one hand to hold her face firmly, owning her mouth, possessing her, making her his as his hand familiarise with the soft curves of her body. She closed her eyes, running her fingers into his hair, pulling, making him groan. This was the first time she initiated a kiss. They pulled away slowly as he grinned, resting his forehead against hers. He stared at her hooded eyes, uncertain of what to do to her then his eyes dropped down to her dress, how it hugged her figure perfectly.

This was the first time he bought a girl a dress. It was his choice, the dress wasn't on sale yet in the market but he went through all the trouble, he had to pay triple the initial price before he could lay his hands on it. He smiled, it was all worth it. She looked like a snack. His snack.

He watched her as she peeled her eyes open slowly. She looked away quickly, she stepped back, taking retracting steps but his large hand snatched her little one. She gasped when he pulled her right back to him. Her heart stuttered and she pushed her face into his neck, flushing completely.

Daniel chuckled then whispered into her ear "where do you think you're going huh? You started this, now you'll have to finish it"

She shivered, pushing her face further into his neck. He laughed then grabbed her face slowly, she closed her eyes quickly as he leaned down about taking her lips but a voice restricted the occurrence.

"Daniel, you're up next. I know you're in there, i saw you walk in"

Daniel sighed in frustration. It was Vanessa. He nodded, then remembered she couldn't see him "I'll be right there"

"Say hi to Genny for me" she giggled before going away.

Daniel said with a smug on "she says hi"

Genevieve covered her face with her palms "that was so embarrassing" her voice sounded muffled in between her palms.

He chuckled, slowly pulling her fingers down "no, it wasn't"

"Um-"

"Shh" he smiled then pecked her lips briefly then laced his fingers in hers before taking her out of the room. Genevieve blushed looking at their intertwined fingers, wishing it would always stay that way.

"Ohh! Daniel my boy, you made us so proud" Moira Savage, James Savage's wife chirped as she pulled Daniel in a side hug.
Genevieve couldn't help but smile, even at 50, Moira looked way too young to be regarded as elderly. Her clingy black floor length gown looked so elegant as it was designed by one of Nigeria's best. Her black eyes and brown skin, still glowing as ever caused people of her age to panic right before her. James was also perfectly endowed with heaven's best gifts, making them one of the most adorable couple in the country.

"Something your son needs to learn" her husband muttered from beside her.

"Honey, not in front of them" Moira squinted her eyes then hissed before turning to see an unfamiliar figure standing very closely to Daniel "and who's this pretty lady?"

Daniel coughed, discreetly releasing his fingers from Genevieve's. She frowned but soon recovered and smiled "hello ma'am, I'm Genevieve, his personal assistant"

"Oh, really? I thought you were..you know...his girlfriend"

"Moira"

"I know, James. Kids these days, you never can tell" she laughed. Daniel and Genevieve both turned to face each other then looked away, feeling embarrassed.

Moira chuckled "ahh, Vincent sends his best wishes, he couldn't make it. You know how busy he gets"

"Busy with the ladies. Am I right?" James Savage hissed, he didn't approve the lifestyle of his son, moira nudged his arm, giving him a look in which he only shrugged broad shoulders.

"I understand..completely" Daniel nodded, it was obvious, his uncle was right.

"Moira, James. What a pleasant surprise" the elderly couple Genevieve met earlier stopped to say.

"Please do enjoy your evenings, excuse us" Daniel informed.

"I'll be on the podium any minute from now, don't go anywhere okay?"

"Okay" she answered quietly.

"Are you alright?"

She nodded.

"I'll be right back" he rushed, weaving his way out.

She smiled lightly looking at the ground, remembering what happened few minutes ago, the kiss, she felt him communicate through it making her blush harder.

"Welcome everyone, I hope you're all having a good time"

Everyone clapped in response, some raising their glasses up in the air.

She chuckled as he continued "I'd really want to use this opportunity to thank everyone for coming despite your busy schedules"

She continued to smile but it faltered completely when she saw Mr. Wale Coker slowly approaching her direction, she panicked looking at her sides, hoping he wouldn't recognise her from the office. She moved away and heaved a sigh of relief when he walked right past her.

Not so fortunately, a waiter walked right into her, spilling what looked like champagne on her dress, she gasped as the cold liquid sluggishly cascaded right down to her belly. The young waiter caught the bottle in mid air before it could cause any more damage, making sure to place it properly on his tray before turning to her. "Ma'am, I'm so very sorry"

He looked so scared.

"It's fine"

"Ms. It's not, I'm so sorry"

With a crooked smile plastered on her lips, she shook her head "it's fine, I'll take care of it myself"

He nodded slowly, stepping away. She closed her eyes, trying to avoid the stares of the few people behind her. This'd be the second time she was making a not so clean getaway.

She sighed as she finally got into the toilet, she washed her hands then took a paper towel to wipe off the stinky pink substance clinging to her neck.

"I really underestimated you" a voice said from behind. Genevieve whirled around only to see Melissa, with a not so convincing smile.

"What are you talking about?"

"The mystery girl huh? I couldn't put the pieces together earlier until Daniel had to drag you with him. Gosh! How sweet"

"I don't know what you're talking about okay? As you can see, I'm clearly not in the mood for chats" Genevieve announced, raising the paper towel.

Melissa scoffed, folding her arms.

"You don't know what you're getting yourself into"

"Thanks for the heads up but I'm really not interested" Genevieve countered, imprisoning her rage. She dropped the towel and was about leaving when Melissa pulled her back harshly.

"You didn't even denial it, he will dump you...terribly!"

"Just as he did to you" Genevieve snapped.

Melissa chuckled "you're smarter than I thought"

"What do you want?"

"Daniel is filthy rich, he could get any girl he wants. If you thought for one second you were going to end up with him, well I implore you to think again sweetheart-" Melissa stood right in front of Genevieve then continued "-he couldn't possibly end up with someone like you, his PA. He needs someone of the same class, someone like, someone like-"

"You" Genevieve huffed in disbelief.

"Of course sweetheart"

"Then I guess you weren't doing the job quite alright"

"You bitch-" Melissa raised her hand to hit Genevieve across the face but she was faster, she caught it in mid air, firmly holding unto it.

"Why don't you take your awesome advice and go somewhere else..Melissa"

"I hate you" Melissa sneered.

"Something we both have in common"

"I'll be the first to come at you when he finally dumps you for me, me, just me!!!" Melissa wiped off her tears furiously, anger billowing through her entire body. She huffed then went away.

'he will dump you...terribly'

Those words shook her whole being, letting apprehension seize her. They weren't even a couple, yet those words stabbed her heart.

'he couldn't possibly end up with someone like you, his PA'

What if she was only going to be his kissing buddy and nothing more.

He hasn't even confessed anything to her yet, she was falling, falling so hard.

The thought of him leaving her made her knees weak. She slowly sat on the floor before her knees gave up. She rested her face on her knees, no wonder Daniel hastily peeled his fingers away from hers when Moira asked who she was. She would always be his PA.

"is there space for two?" Genevieve gasped, she quickly wiped off her tears she didn't know she was letting out then turned to see Vanessa.

She nodded quickly "yeah" and scooted over to create space. Vanessa let out a satisfying "ahh" when her butt made contact with the cold floor.

"I needed this!"

Genevieve smiled then turned away from her.

"I ran into Melissa and she did not look too good. Whatever it was, I guess it'd be coming from here"

Genevieve nodded "you guessed correctly"

"Vanessa?" Genevieve turned to her.

"You said your brother wouldn't stop talking about me. Were you being honest?"

Vanessa sighed, playing with the hem of her dress. "After my mother died, Daniel went stoic, he was guarded to the point that I feared I might loose my brother. He was hurting so bad. as little as he was, he took to women, burying himself with lust. Genevieve-" she stopped.

"-for sometime now, he hasn't done any of those. Going to the hotel, to sleep with...you know..hot bimbos" she rolled her eyes.

Genevieve laughed.

"And I know it has something to do with you, there's this spark in his eyes whenever he spoke of you which was never there. He loves you Genny, a lot"

Genevieve closed her eyes, her brain getting to work. Daniel loves her? Then why wouldn't he say it?

"What about Melissa?" she heard herself examine.

"Genevieve, whatever she said to you was her in her bitchy mode okay? Her dad and mine had this business agreement, they thought it'd be best if their children got together which was stupid. I admit he was into her but not anymore. There's absolutely nothing to be worried about"

Genevieve nodded, looking straight ahead.

"Come on, he's probably looking for you"

"I'm glad I had this chat Vanessa"

"Me too"

* * *

"Daniel could be an asshole sometimes but he's still very much adorable" Vanessa confessed making Genevieve giggle.

"You were saying?" Daniel smirked as he advanced the girls.

"Speaking of the devil. Hey" Vanessa smiled, enveloping her brother in a hug.

"Vanny" he laughed as he patted her head.

"Hey! My up-do and don't call me that" Vanessa glared, shattering the embrace. Daniel raised his hands in defence then he stirred his head to stare at Genevieve, he carefully scanned her which he wasn't tired of doing today. He couldn't take his eyes off her. He smirked when she tried to avoid his gaze but was still caught up in the moment.

"Gosh! Get a room already, with the whole eye sex. Eww!" Complained Vanessa.

"Vanessa, I think there's someone waiting for you"

"Michael? Tell me you're kidding me?"

He shook his head amusedly. Vanessa inhaled and exhaled, she bit her lip nervously before slowly walking away.

"Boyfriend?" Genevieve rose a brow.

"Fiancé" Daniel corrected. "Shall we?" He offered his arm, she slipped hers right into it and nodded.

They soon passed the party's exit, strolling into the hallway.

"But this isn't... Where are we going?"

"I want to show you something" he smiled.

"What?"

"You'll just have to wait and find out yourself" he used his free hand to pinch her cheek as they got to the elevator.

Chapter 22
Chapter title: The dress is prada

Genevieve's palms began to sweat immediately David informed her they'd be arriving at the venue in five minutes. She took in deeps breaths hoping to calm her racing heart. She was fiddling awkwardly with the words written on the invite when her phone chimed briefly, it's lights illuminating a message. It was from Kelvin, she sighed opening it.

'Genevieve, don't screw this up okay? Remember he saved you a lot of trouble. The dress came in just in time, be professional, don't let anyone intimidate you. He wouldn't do any of these if he weren't attracted. Call me when it's all over. Love ya!!'

She nodded knowing he was right, Daniel did her a favour, otherwise she would still be in her room sulking in grief for not getting her hands on a gown fit for an important occasion as this. Then she frowned reading his words over and over again 'he wouldn't do any of these if he weren't attracted'

She bit her lip, her mum's words. But how sure were they?

"We're here!" David announced driving her back to reality. She sighed, she was anxious to look appropriate to the situation just as she was hoping not to draw attention to herself.

"Er, thanks so much, David" she smiled weakly as he helped her out of the car. He nodded getting back in the driver's seat and zoomed off. She inhaled and exhaled sharply as she gawked the mountainous building. It was dark already, making it more terrifying.

She walked towards it, she could hear little to no music, she wondered if it was the right address but David brought her here himself.

She toddled closer as her eyes fell upon two sturdy men who looked like WWE champs. She stopped nervously, faking a smile.

"You're welcome ma'am, can I get your invitation please?" One of them said with a smile. She nodded as she quietly dropped the already rumpled card on his palm. He assessed it thoroughly before passing it unto the other.

"Ohh, an employee!" the other said.

Genevieve nodded in affirmation.

"I'm sorry miss but we still have to do this" he brought out his handheld body scanner.

"I understand" she replied as they carefully scanned her belongings.

"She's good to go mate!" The first said in his earpiece. Few seconds later, another hefty man appeared from an open door.

"This way miss" he said, straightening out his arm. Genevieve nodded trailing behind him. They both got in an elevator. He punched in a number Genevieve didn't quite catch, she was more worried about what was behind those doors. It finally got to a floor and they got out.

"Enjoy the party miss, thanks for coming" he turned around. She looked at the place in confusion, wondering if it was an underground function, she was about asking him for directions but he had long gone already. She puffed in frustration as she waited awkwardly for a passerby. Soon, an elderly couple walked past, chuckling as they held unto each other like one was going to fade away anytime soon. Genevieve followed, pretending she was also heading their way.

Then lights became visible as they drew near, more lights, more until they finally got into the room. A gasp escaped Genevieve's lips as she took in the whole area.

It was beautiful. Chandeliers of all sorts decorated the glistening ceilings and the glass floors with shadows of it. Business men covered in three piece suits and women, in identical coloured gowns in full lengths, swaying slowly in sync to the jazz 60's blaring quietly in the background. She could hear women chattering and bickering, obviously about their rich husbands or jewelries but would stop to laugh unnecessarily every five minutes.

To her left were big business men who laughed so very loudly as they raised their glasses of wine so high above their heads, making a toast. Uniformed waiters and well dressed waitresses with trays filled with glasses of drinks were seen, slightly dodging each other as they walked past. She couldn't help but remember when she did just the same but now it was different, she was a guest.

She fiddled with her clutch as her eyes scanned the entire room in search of any co-worker.

"Wine ms." A waiter offered, she shook her head quickly, muttering 'a thank you' he nodded, walking away. She heard her name being called out but she ignored it, she wasn't the only one with the name. She laughed weakly at the possibilities. Then it became louder, she stirred her head to the direction only to see Tope urging Genevieve to move forward with her fingers.

Genevieve sighed in relief as she moved briskly to Tope who was also with Brenda.

"What took you so long?!" Tope complained.

"Tope, do you know her?" Brenda rose a brow.

"Ah ah Brenda, this is Genevieve now" Tope laughed, Genevieve joined in.

"Oh my gosh! Genevieve it really is you. I thought you were one of those rich girls. Wow, you look really beautiful!" She hugged Genevieve, giggling.

"And she didn't even paint her whole face. Gosh! I'd kill to have that figure" Tope laughed as she joined in the hug.

"Come on, you girls should only flatter yourselves. You two look amazing by the way" Genevieve smiled as she tore away from the embrace. "I'm serious" she added when Brenda pursed her lips in disapproval.

"OK o but thank God I saw you, didn't you see the way she was standing like someone about to cry" Tope snickered, trying her best not to burst into fits of laughter.

"You have no idea. This place is filled with..you know, important people and we're kind of not" Genevieve muttered as they all turned to three young ladies who were glancing at their direction.

Brenda turned to Genevieve "coming from the girl everyone is staring at" Brenda giggled.

"Don't exaggerate Brenda"

"You know she's right Genny, you look just like one of them" Tope smiled then collected a glass from a waiter standing close to them.

Genevieve bit her lip as her eyes wandered around, people were indeed staring. She looked around in search of Daniel but couldn't find him. Maybe he hasn't arrived yet, she concluded.

She needed to go to the restroom before her body finally gave up especially with the weird glances she was receiving.

"I'll be back guys, need to use the restroom" she said.

"Fine, we'll come with you" Brenda offered.

"No. It's fine, just tell me where it is"

"Tope used it previously-Wait, where is she?"

"Look! she'll never change" Genevieve laughed, pointing to Tope who was at the exit, braying childishly as she spoked with a young man.

"Never underestimate the power of a desperate woman. Make that ambitious" Brenda smiled "but I think it's the first door by your left. Just follow this path" Brenda instructed.

Genevieve nodded as she left. She exhaled, resting her head against a wall in the restroom. She walked to the mirror staring at her reflection. Maybe the dress showed a little too much. She said to herself as she slowly adjusted her exposed arms.

Just then, a lady walked in furiously, not exactly noticing Genevieve's presence. She stood beside Genevieve as she washed her perfectly manicured hands.

"Gosh! I hate parties. All the people in there are freaks of all kinds and sizes. I don't want to know the price of your dress or where you flew for the holidays, please quit telling me how fancy your life is, all I want to do is leave already, but no, Dad wants me here. This is not my field old man! I'm a fashion designer, a freaking fashion designer but he doesn't understand, he doesn't. So I'm stuck here. Yay me!" She exclaimed pointing rudely at her reflection.

Genevieve blinked, not knowing what to say. She sucked on her lips, trying her best to stifle any sounds of laughter and also denial herself from staring at the angry lady standing just beside her but she still stole a glance anyway. The lady looked really young with her up-do, her face flawlessly made-up. It wasn't too much but just enough, there was something so familiar about those eyes, those dark pair of eyes that invaded her mind each night. Her dress was perfect as it clung unto her seductively with a wide split revealing perfectly tanned legs. Genevieve was awed as she took in her beauty. She was the most beautiful girl she has ever laid her eyes upon and very cute as she continued ranting.

"I came here only to support Daniel, nothing else, just Daniel. When will all this be over. I can't stand this people anymore. Arggh!!!" She turned off the tap and whirled around, about leaving but paused as if forgetting something, then turned to Genevieve.

"Hmm. Nice dress" the lady said with an Angel like voice. She turned around again but stopped.

"I'm sorry for..em, you know, all of those" she faced Genevieve apologetically.

Genevieve shook her head "no problem" she smiled reassuringly.

"I'm Vanessa, Vanessa Coker" the lady grinned, straightening out her hand for an handshake. Genevieve's eyes widened, she stared at the outstretched hand and slowly took it, her brain fully understanding who the person standing right here was. Daniel's sister. She blinked, trying her best to fake a smile.

"Em, Genevieve Miller" Genevieve whispered, still in shock.

"Nice name--wait. The Genevieve? As in my brother, Daniel's PA?" Vanessa gaped at Genevieve then grinned broadly as Genevieve nodded.

"Wow, so pretty, the prettiest of them all. Nice to finally meet you" she bore Genevieve in a tight hug.

"Pleasure is all mine" Genevieve giggled when Vanessa raised her up a bit then dropped her down.

"Daniel couldn't stop talking about you" Vanessa blurted as they broke free.

Genevieve scrunched her eyes, raising a brow.

"Busted! I think I've said too much already. Forget about it okay? Come on, let's go" Vanessa said dragging Genevieve out of the room.

"But to where?"

"Just wait and see" Vanessa chimed excitedly.

As they got back to the event, Genevieve couldn't help but notice a young man like the younger version of Daniel heading their way. He stopped right in front of them.

"Vanessa, where have you been? Dad needs you on stage" he nagged frowning.

Vanessa cleared her throat pointing to Genevieve. "She's Genevieve" she mouthed.

"Oh!" He turned to Genevieve, eyes roaming her face. A roguish smile found it's way on his lips as he ogled her. "Hola mamacita, name's Martins Coker"

"Em, Genevieve" she replied shyly.

"Back off Martins!" Vanessa warned. "She's off limits!"

"Relax Sis" then he took Genevieve's fingers, lowering down a bit as he pecked her wrist making sure to let it linger for a few seconds before pulling away "nice to meet you my lady!" He wriggled his brows.

Genevieve looked at him awkwardly, knowing he was only teasing.

"Come on, dad needs us. I'll be right back Genevieve" Vanessa smiled before dragging her younger brother away from the scene.

He looked back, blowing Genevieve a kiss, when Vanessa noticed, she hit him hard on his head. Genevieve laughed, Daniel's siblings weren't what she imagined them to be, they weren't proud or arrogant, instead they were the complete opposites.

She smiled as she turned around, not paying attention as she bumped into someone, a lady.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" the lady accused, rubbing her temples.

"I'm sorry but it was partly your fault too" Genevieve countered, eyes exploring the lady who looked flawlessly wrapped in millions.

"Partly my fault? Pttf. Don't you know who I am?" She scoffed in annoyance. Genevieve peered at her, trying her best to come up with any hint of familiarity but none.

The lady gaped at Genevieve in horror "Melissa James?" She snapped her fingers. Genevieve rose a brow, she could've sworn that she has heard that name previously but didn't know where and when.

"Gosh! Are you trying to be rude or you really don't have a clue?"

Genevieve shrugged innocently as her lips formed a thin line.

"Geez!!! What a fool!" The lady sneered, she walked away making sure to hit her shoulders against Genevieve's.

Genevieve rolled her eyes but stopped as it all came crashing to her. It was Melissa, the lady Tope talked about during her first days in the office. She was Daniel's ex and apparently the same lady she saw in his office.

She cringed, remembering the event. Melissa stopped in her tracks, moving backwards and halted in front of Genevieve.

"That dress, the name" she said quietly, raising a finger. Genevieve shifted her gaze to Melissa and her dress in confusion.

"It's Prada" Melissa answered herself. Genevieve blushed at the name, so that's what it was called. Daniel was just too much, spending so much on her.

"But. It's isn't on sale yet, I checked myself" Melissa scratched her head as she continued scanning the dress shamelessly.

Genevieve smiled, time to get even. "Lovely right?"

Melissa furrowed her brow.

"Name's Genevieve Miller, rings a bell?" Genevieve snapped her fingers trying her best not to laugh at Melissa's expression.

Melissa peered at Genevieve's face before asking "who are you?"

Genevieve raised her jaw, holding unto her clutch "Gosh! Are you trying to be rude or you clearly don't have a clue sweetheart" she pouted mockingly.

"If you'll excuse me, my fans are waiting" Genevieve flashed a smile as she turned around, leaving Melissa in a state of complete mystification.

Genevieve laughed as she walked away. Two can play in that game. She saw Tope and Brenda wave their hands, she smiled and was about going to them when she hit her head against a strong chest, she lost her balance as her heels slipped backwards, she closed her eyes, waiting for the impact, instead large hands found it's way around her waist, saving her from an embarrassing fall. She closed her eyes, dreading to meet her saviour when a different pair of hands pulled her away.

Chapter 21
Chapter tittle: The night is still young

Continuation from the previous chapter.

"Hey, it's okay. Why don't you have a seat" Daniel offered as he walked to his.

"Okay" she said slowly, raising a brow.

They were both fully seated. Daniel leaned over, searching Genevieve's eyes so closely that it made her nervous as she continued to gaze upon her fingers.

"Am I that bad?" He inquired quietly.

"Bad?" Genevieve wrinkled her forehead, giving away her confused state.

Daniel sighed then leaned into his seat "I heard some of the employees sounding irritatingly as they spoke about me. One of them even went ahead, calling me a callous man"

Genevieve's eyes widened as she stared at him. She chewed on her lips trying to block any sound.

"Yeah go ahead, laugh"

"I'm so sorry, I did not see that coming" she laughed but stopped immediately after he gave her a blank stare.

"You know me than any one around here, Genevieve. I want you to tell me. How bad am I?" He folded his arms, waiting for her reply.

"Em, sir..you're a little bit too...um, too strict. Don't exactly blame them for thinking that"

"So how can I be..less, less strict?"

"you need to communicate with your employees more than you give orders"

"Excuse me sir, can I come in?" A feminine voice interrupted.

Daniel cleared his throat "yes. Do"

A lady came in afterwords, holding out a black binder. She looked nervous as she slowly walked in. Genevieve could sense her anxiety as she was always like that around him.

"Um, the invitations sir" the lady said slowly as she looked at the ground wanting to leave the office anytime soon. One could clearly see that she was pressured to deliver the invitations herself because no one would volunteer to in her department.

Daniel nodded, motioning to his desk. Genevieve shook her head fighting the urge to face palm. He needed years of training before he could learn to be nice.

"Tell her a polite thank you" Genevieve mouthed.

Daniel rose a brow as Genevieve repeated, this time using her fingers to emphasize. They both turned to the lady as she hastily dropped the binder on the desk, she whirled around quickly going straight to the door but paused when she heard Daniel.

"Wait" he said rather reluctantly.

She shivered, suddenly feeling cold. She gulped as she turned slowly. Her palms began to sweat as she thought of a thing she did wrong in the past few weeks.

"Nice job..uh.." He trailed off.

"Vivian sir" she blushed.

"Nice job Vivian, and thank you" he faked a smile.

She nodded quickly and walked out of his office.

Genevieve turned to Daniel with a big smile on her face.

"It was easy, wasn't it?"

"Yeah, whatever" he rolled his eyes. Then looked down, his eyes on her shoes.

Genevieve squinted her eyes as she looked at him then her stilettos then returned her gaze back to him.

"Nice shoes" he shrugged.

She laughed as she took one invitation card, viewing it. It was a celebration for the inauguration of their latest hotel which was coming up in few days and also the formal admission of Mr. Augustine into office as vice president of the organisation. Genevieve couldn't help but wonder, he finally got what he wanted. And anytime soon, as Mr. Augustine promised, he would send in a new PA for Daniel, meaning she'd have to leave. At first the job was nothing close to good but now it was different. It was like a maze, as the day passes by, new routes and passages would be discovered, the more she stays, the more adventures she would encounter which was now exciting. Now she understood that Mr. Augustine actually did her a favour, a favour which was going to be terminated anytime soon.

She sighed quietly glancing at Daniel, his eyes were also scanning the invites. She couldn't help but remember her mother's words.

..."It will happen if you were made for each other. You'll know when that time comes, just you"....

But how would she?

What was it like to love somebody?

She closed her eyes imagining being in his arms, his attention mainly on her and no one else. His arms around her like she was the most delicate being in the whole world.

Then she felt someone touch her fingers, it was warm as she felt her insides churn. She opened her eyes to meet his, staring directly at her.

"Are you alright?" He brushed her fingers with his thumb gently.

"Yeah"

"Good, now let's continue"

"Continue what?"

"Lesson 360 on being nice" he winked, making her groan.

It was already nine, Genevieve was in his office, helping him sort out documents when her eyes landed on the night sky. His office was really the best place to stare at the sky all day.

It looked like someone used a blanket with holes in them to cover the sky with, the beam provided distant illumination for passers by.

She smiled as she saw how beautiful the lights helped to illuminate the skyscrapers.

"Nice view, am I right?"

She grinned as she turned to Daniel then tore her gaze back to the lights "so beautiful"

He nodded looking at her turned figure "really beautiful"

She bit her lip, having a feeling he wasn't just talking about the sky anymore.

It was finally Saturday, the day of the company's inauguration party.

Genevieve groaned as she fell back on bed "kelvin, i can't do this anymore"

"Make that two" Kelvin fell beside her.

They both spent two hours searching for a black gown that looked close to 'sophisticated' but sadly she had none of those. The party's theme was mainly black.

"I see no reason why you called me here. Don't you have girlfriends to help you with this kind of stuff" Kelvin scoffed as he turned to her.

"I have no one besides you, Michelle's not here, she's with mum at the shop, so don't give up on me yet" she pouted.

"Save that cute face for Mr. Coker" he laughed, Genevieve sat up launching a pillow at him. He caught it swiftly then smirked. "You throw like a girl"

"I am a girl" she laughed, hitting his shoulder with a pillow this time.

"You!!" He glared at her, she giggled as she hit him across the face.

"You didn't just do that, I'm coming for you" He stood up just as she did.

"That's if you can catch me first!" She yelled as she ran round her room, she brought out her tongue when he missed. Unfortunately for her, she fell on the ground, kelvin got up to her, smacking her nonstop with a pillow.

"Kelvin, get-G-get off M-me. Stop!!" She laughed so hard  trying to push him off her.

Then they heard a knock bringing them back to reality, they both exchanged looks.

Kelvin offered his hand, she took it as he carefully helped her up.

"Are you expecting anyone?" He inquired.

"None I can remember" Genevieve shrugged "just wait here and don't touch anything" she straightened her top as she slowly made her way out of her room and into the sitting room.

Genevieve turned the doorknob and smiled as she came across David, Daniel's personal driver.

"Good evening ms. Genevieve"

"Good evening David, is there a problem?"

"Not really, I came to deliver this" the young man motioned to the ground where a big box was laid. Genevieve looked at the box confusedly then up to David.

"What's that?"

"I have no idea. But the boss sent in these and told me to bring you to the function too"

"Um, you don't need to David, I'm not even dressed yet. I'll find my way okay?"

"No please. The boss gave me strict orders to get you there. I may loose my job"

"Ohh.. Okay then...em, Thanks" she smiled as David handed her the box. It wasn't as heavy as it looked.

"Please do come in" she offered.

"No thank you. I'll be fine here"

"Come on, I insist"

The young driver nodded shyly.

"This way please" Genevieve smiled as she led him to the sitting room.

"I'll be back shortly. Please do sit"

After making sure he was fully seated, she weaved her way back to her room. Kelvin was on his phone by the time she came in.

"Ohh, you're back" he started then looked at the box Genevieve held unto "what's that?"

"I'm not sure" she answered as she carefully dropped the box on her bed. Then she turned to Kelvin "it was Daniel's driver, he came here saying Daniel asked him to deliver this"

"care to find out what's in it?" Kelvin asked curiously.

Genevieve nodded as she peered at the box, suddenly feeling nervous. She bit her lips pondering what could possibly be in there. It was quite large.

"Open it already, the anticipation is killing me!!" Kelvin groaned.

"Fine" she bit her lip one more time as her fingers shook. She got rid of the upper part first and immediately caught sight of a black garment. She rose a brow as she carefully peeled it away from the box.

She gasped loudly, it was a dress. Daniel got her a dress. But why?

"He got you a dress. Wow. Go try it out!"

Genevieve stared at the dress she hasn't even tried it out yet and she was already enthralled by it's beauty.

"I don't know Kelvin"

"Genevieve, hurry!"

"Geez, I'm going. She rushed into her bathroom. Despite the fact that they were best friends, she too had her privacy.

Few minutes later, she sucked on her lips as she came out.

"Damn girl! Black sure is your colour"

"Um" she walked nervously to the mirror and gasped at her own reflection.

She was wearing a sultry dress with a sweetheart bust which gives way to a sheer mesh chest panel which reaches into a collar, decorated with rhinestone crystals then a curve-hugging bodice that shows off her silhouette also flaring into a subtle mermaid shape.

"Kelvin, don't you think this is a little too much?"

"Too much? Absolutely not. Look what I found" Kelvin got out shoes from the box. "He got you shoes too and a clutch!! a freaking clutch. And you tell me he isn't in love"

Genevieve blinked as she slowly collected the silver heels which shimmered and sparkled. She knew it cost a fortune, the dress too.

"I'm not wearing these" she frowned sadly as she sat on the bed.

Kelvin sighed as he scooted beside her "look, I understand what you're probably feeling right now. But tell me, how do you think he'd feel if he sees you not wearing the dress he got you?"

"I guess"

"The night is still young Genny, go have fun okay?"

She puffed in frustration as she got in the heels, she got out powder, black eyeliner and a rich red lip gloss and applied it carefully. She put her hair extensions into a chignon bun Held unto the crystal detailed clutch then she added her silver hoop earrings pairing it with matching bangles to complete the ensemble. She flashed a smile at Kelvin, causing him to grin.

"Now that's the Genny I know"

She smiled as they both made their way to the sitting room. David got up, his eyes roaming her.

"Look what you've caused" Kelvin laughed. "Enjoy yourself alright, call me" Kelvin said as he went straight to the door.

"Ms. Genevieve, you're looking beautiful as ever, the party has started already. I think we should go now"

"Think so too" she smiled as he ushered her in the car. She gnawed on her nails, she knew for a fact that the function was for people of great influence and class. She couldn't help but wish the night would be over in a flash.
