Health / Amuwo Odofin LGA Reportedly Replace Medical Staff At PHC With Private Companies by jadesoletee(m): 12:24pm On Feb 17, 2022
So I normally use the Amuwo Odofin Primary Health Care Centre in Lagos, situated in the Amuwo Odofin Local Government secretariat in Festac, so you can imagine how happy I am when last week, they finally commissioned the new Primary Health Care building named after Senator Oluremi Tinubu. Finally, we can use a proper place instead of that bungalow that is always crowded and stuffy.

You can then imagine my shock when I went there on Tuesday and I saw that the Pharmacy staff, and even the medical laboratory staff that I normally see there were no longer there. I saw new faces in the pharmacy and lab sections.

I asked one of their senior doctors, who is from the same town as me (omo iye mi) and he told me something that I find disturbing.

Did the council chairman build the centre with his private money or it was the LGA money ni? Because the doctor told me that the people who are in the pharmacy and lab now are private companies with relationship with the chairman. He said that they were already working in the council before the building of the new edifice sef, and that the government officials employed to the pharmacy and lab have always been intimidated by these private companies with the backing of the chairman.

He said that even last week, the government officials had packed into the facility gleefully after Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commissioned the new building with pomp and pageantry, but the chairman sent them back to the bungalow at the back of the building and ordered the private companies into the new building.

I had to ask if the people that were ordered out were not government officials because why will government be paying people to work and another government will be taking that work from them and giving it to someone else. I asked the old doctor to send me to the government pharmacy to buy my drug so I can ask questions stylishly from them but those ones were also using style to dribble me. Seems they are afraid of the chairman and/or the private pharmacy and lab people. I kuku can’t blame them. Security of life is important abeg.

Anyway, my question is simple? Did the Chairman of Amuwo Odofin LGA, Comrade Engr Valentine Buraimoh build the Oluremi Tinubu PHC building with his money ni? Even if he did and he donated it to the LG, must he interfere in how it must be used? Who are these private companies and what relationship do they have with the chairman? Is the chairman saying the employed pharmacists and lab scientists by the state health boards are not competent ni? Is this what is happening across all LGAs in Lagos?

Governor Sanwo-Olu and everyone, please if you know what is happening, let me know o. Because na so corruption dey take start for Nigeria.

Politics / Governor Sanwo-olu's Bold Initiatives To Combat Insecurity In Lagos by jadesoletee(m): 9:55am On Jun 17, 2021
By Femi Adeniyi from Lagos

The high spate of insecurity in Nigeria is one which no doubt is clearly visible even to the blind, the deaf will hear in resounding tunes the unending wailings of the daily victims of these insecure challenges bemoaning their various unfortunate tragedies.

Right from the seat of power across the various States of the Nigerian federation, an air of unease transverses everywhere, it is a situation where the elders will say, " the birds have failed to speak in the language of the birds, humans have failed to speak in human voices."

In the history of the nation as a sovereign state, the national security architecture has never been this embarrassed, from kidnappings to killings amongst other vices which have instilled fear into the minds of the populace.

The futile and vain efforts of the Federal Government has led many to fashion ways through which they can keep themselves and their loved ones safe. However, in the midst of all these efforts, Insecurity has continued to prevail as it is fast becoming a million-dollar industry where kidnappers and bandits rake in millions from their victims and governments.

While the Presidency has failed to provide a lasting solution to curbing this menace, and in the absence of the anticipated law from the NASS approving the creation of state police, elected chief executives of states must of necessity brace up and rise to the occasion and defend and protect their citizens.

This becomes more realistic against the backdrop of the cynical statement made by President Muhammadu Buhari during his recent interview on ARISE TV, when he admonished the state Governors, being the elected Trustees and chief executives of their state to take responsibility for the security of lives and properties of their people.

The statement as a matter of fact now gives some veiled directives to our respective States regarding what to do rather than keep waiting on the federal government to always come to their aid.

While we must acknowĺedge the limitations imposed on the governors as a result of the failure of our system to create the state police which would have empowered them to function as the chief executives of their states, we must emphasize that governors need not despair or throw their arms in the air as helpless administrators.
It is the hope and aspiration of many that these Governors will go back to their driving seats and frontally confront insecurity in their states.

It is in this regard that the sense of responsibility, leadership and foresight shown by Governor Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos needs to be highly commended and publicly applauded and appreciated.
Governor Sanwoolu proactively blazed the trail when last week he announced steps his government has taken by procuring several items to boost the arsenal of offence and rejig the security apparatus of the state.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu purchased and donated 150 vehicles, four high capacity troop carriers, 30 patrol cars and two anti riots water cannon carriers for the use of the police as part of efforts to strengthen security responses across the state.

Considering the status of Lagos State which is the economic capital of the nation, it is too important that Lagos must be kept safe by all means possible in order not to cripple our National Economy. It is heartwarming and reassuring that the man saddled with that responsibility fully understands the burden he Carrie's and clearly demonstrate unquestionable character, strength and capacity to discharge these awesome duties. We must therefore give kudos to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for doing the needful to secure Lagos State.

Other Governors across the 36 states of Nigeria must ensure that they borrow a leaf from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in curbing the growing menace of insecurity in their respective States, manna will not come from heaven, it is obvious the federal government is greatly overwhelmed with growing cases of insecurity across Nigeria hence the need for states to stand up for themselves. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is already showing the way, blazing the trail. He is worthy of our accolades and unreserved commendations.

Politics / We Will Make NDDC Deliver On Its Mandates - Tunji-ojo, NDDC Committee Chair by jadesoletee(m): 5:56pm On Feb 12, 2021
Federal lawmaker and Chairman, House Committee on NDDC, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has assured that NDDC will be made to deliver on its mandates to the people of Niger Delta.

Tunji-Ojo gave this assurance on Friday during an oversight tour of the headquarters of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and other project sites in in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Speaking during the visit, Tunji-Ojo posited that the House Committee has resolved to work with the management team of the Commission and other critical stakeholders to resolve the lingering issue of abandoned projects confronting NDDC.

Tunji-Ojo also assured that the committee was prepared to give impetus to the NDDC to put mechanism in place to mitigate the worrisome issue of abandoned projects that is plaguing the Niger Delta region.

He therefore posited that the committee has resolved that only contractors with capacity should be awarded contracts by the NDDC.

"This is an additional measure to mitigate contract failure and enhancement of value added service to the Niger Delta region".

Moreso, Tunji-Ojo further asserted during the tour that the review and implementation of Niger Delta master plan was long overdue and therefore urged all critical stakeholders to jointly review, implement and commit the master plan of NDDC to effective implementation.

He also canvassed a comprehensive amendment of the NDDC Establishment Act to rework the commission's activities. Tunji-Ojo also suggested that only a sub-section of the NDDC Act should be amended in order to avoid public queries and make the exercise to be in compliance with global best practices to ensure better effectiveness in service delivery.

In his response, the Sole Interim Administrator of NDDC, Effiong Okon Akwa said the canvassed position that only contractors with capacities should be awarded contracts and the suggested reviewing of the Commission's master plan were good ideas. He also supported the need to amend the NDDC Establishment Act to ensure the appointment of competent and capable Director of Projects.

Moreso, Okon Akwa also appealed to members of the House Committee on NDDC to forgive members of the Commission for wrongdoings of the past. He also pleaded for a robust working relationship between members of the House Committee on NDDC and management of the commission.

Meanwhile, Tunji-Ojo has assured that the House of Representatives Committee on NDDC would continue to provide the necessary legislative support to ensure physical and developmental growth of the Niger Delta region.

Politics / ENDSARS PROTEST: Examining The Role Of The Nigerian Army And The Lagos State Gov by jadesoletee(m): 7:47am On Nov 21, 2020
By Shola Orekunle

The October 20 Lekki Toll Gate incident is one which many Nigerians cannot forget in an hurry, an incident which will later lead to the wanton destruction of lives and properties in Lagos and other states across the Federation.

The true account of what really happened at the Lekki Toll Gate might have been distorted due to the variation in the account of eyewitnesses, the Lagos state government, the federal government, and most especially the social media platforms.

Just few days ago, the CNN came up with their accounts based on their investigation on what really happened on the 20th of October 2020, corroborating the popular accounts of many Nigerians, it’s proven to a very great extent that the men of the Nigerian Army did open fire on innocent and peaceful protesters who have gathered at the Lekki Toll gate to make their voices heard in their protest against Police brutality in the Country.

While the rest of the nation continue to await the conclusion of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry for Victims of SARS Related Abuses and other Matters on its current investigation of the issue, it’s imperative that we take a closer look and objectively analyse the role played by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu, as the chief executive of Lagos and the men of the Nigerian Army.

According to the account of the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu, the Lagos State Government after it had announced the imposition of a 6pm Curfew in Lagos, had sent the usual security communication to all security agencies to ensure compliance with the government's directives on the curfew. This was a necessary and standard operational procedure. The communication was to ALL security agencies operating in the state, including the Army, Police, DSS, Civil Defence etc.

The standard practice is that, these agencies, haven received the security communications , will make necessary contacts with their various leaderships from where they will receive their operational security briefs concerning their subsequent deployments. The Lagos state governor as a civilian authority is Not responsible for the mode of operation or conduct of the security operatives in the discharge of their lawful duties.

This perhaps what Governor Sanwo Olu meant when he described the unsavoury and brutal actions of the army against unarmed, non violent and innocent protesters as " acting on orders beyond his control"

No civilian authority or government will instruct security agents to shoot and kill unarmed peaceful protesters. This must be viewed against the back drop of the fact that this same governor had with all humility identified with the protesters by visiting them and carrying their complaints and demands all the way to the President in Abuja.

It is assumed that all security agents including the members of the armed forces, must have acquired the necessary training and skill to manage civil unrest. The unbridled engagement if the army at the Toll gate is shameful, barbaric and condemnable, but certainly cannot be blamed on the Governor's supposed invitation.

The blame for the senseless killing must be put squarely where it belongs and that is on the officers of the Nigerian Army who were at the Toll gate on the night of November 20, 2020 who must be held responsible for their evil actions. The governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu is not and cannot be culpable in this sad and regrettable heinous crime by the Army.

The account given by the Nigerian Army at the Lagos Judiciary Panel of Inquiry states that the Nigerian Army had only fired blank bullets into the air and no lives were lost, is shocking and falls flat in the face of the reality. Even the Lagos state governor's account on his observation after going round to visit the wounded in various hospitals totally exposes the military's submission as absolute falsehood and an afterthought. An obvious futile attempt to excuse the unprofessional manner the Army discharged its duties on the sad night.

The CNN footage, recently released, shows an event which is different from the account given by the Nigerian Army.

Truth can never be hidden, it will certainly be revealed, and when it happens, there will be no place for the real culprits to hide.

Politics / Webster Global Denies Coerced Payment Claim By NDDC by jadesoletee(m): 9:05pm On Aug 08, 2020
A construction company, Webster Global Ventures has denied the claim made by the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of NDDC that it used the National Assembly Committee to coerce the agency into making payment to the firm. The claim was described by the management of Webster Global Ventures as a a deliberate attempt by the IMC to bring the company's reputation into disrepute.

Webster Global Ventures described the statement credited to the Acting Managing Director of the NDDC, Prof. Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei as false, inaccurate and misleading. The company was emphatic that the National Assembly never influenced any payment made to the company by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

According to a statement made available on Saturday by Opeolu Adarae, the Operations Director of Webster Global Ventures, "We are a company of international repute and no one should dent our image. National Assembly never influenced payment made to our company because we completed all projects we handled. We have been in operations for more than 20 years and we have never been linked to any form of fraud as a corporate company.

"Nobody gave us any recommendation and we do not have any business with the National Assembly. As a matter of fact, the Executive Director, Project for the NDDC, Dr Cairo Ojougboh inspected our project and certified it satisfactorily completed before payment was made".

Meanwhile, Webster Global Ventures has advised the management of NDDC not to involve the forthrightly professional company in its ongoing face-off with the National Assembly.

Politics / NYCN Tells Buhari To Suspend Akpabio And Dissolve NDDC Management Committee by jadesoletee(m): 11:48pm On Jul 27, 2020
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has once again called for the suspension of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the dissolution of the Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) over allegations of corruption and mismanagement of funds against in the NDDC.

Recall that the NDDC and the embattled minister have been in the eye of the storm over the myriads of corruption allegations hovering around the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the NDDC which promoted the NYCN, last Sunday, to call for the removal of the Minister to allow for a thorough probe into his activities and the corruption scandal rocking the NDDC.

NYCN in a statement by its Deputy President, Comrade Adamu Kabir Matazu, on Monday, faulted the list of alleged beneficiaries of NDDC projects in the National Assembly, saying “the person who has benefitted from NDDC contracts while in the Senate is no other than the present Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio.”

Matazu claimed that “It's on record that on the 7th of August, 2017, Senator Akpabio while in the Senate wrote to the Chairman Senate Committee on Niger Delta requesting for contracts to be given to him from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and to be sited in his constituency. Unfortunately Senator Akpabio failed to execute those contracts.”

The NYCN which has always been at the forefront calling for attention to all the allegations of sleaze and malfeasance perpetrated in the NDDC and thorough investigation, said it is pained to see that Akpabio is “trying to deflect and change the narrative with a view to evading accountability thereby subverting the course of Justice in respect of the latest N81 billion scandal rocking the NDDC.”

The NYCN statement further read:

“It's sad to see that the NDDC under the supervision of the Niger Delta Ministry has become a cesspool of corruption and the man at the center of these corrupt practices is Senator Godswill Akpabio who has brought misery and penury to the people of the Niger Delta region.

“The NYCN wishes to reiterate it's call to President Muhammadu Buhari to sack Akpabio and dissolve the Interim Management Committee with a view to ensuring the speedy completion of the probe initiated by the National Assembly without let or hindrance because from our findings, we discovered that the reason Akpabio is attacking the members of the National Assembly Committee on NDDC is simply because he couldn't compromise them and they are determined to expose the corruption perpetrated by NDDC under his supervision in line with the vision of President Buhari's Zero tolerance for corruption.

“The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), hereby, calls on the House Committee on NDDC to stay focused and complete it's assignment without fear or favour, and not to be distracted by the noise of those who are vehemently opposed to accountability.

“Finally, we call on President Muhammadu Buhari to take seriously the allegations against Senator Akpabio and the Interim Management Committee of the NDDC and order their suspension in the same manner Ibrahim Magu and Justice Walter Onnoghen were suspended. Failure to heed to our call will lead to a massive protest by our organization.”

Politics / NDDC Probe: NANS, NYCN Tell Akpabio To Step Down For Proper Investigation by jadesoletee(m): 6:02pm On Jul 19, 2020
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) have called on the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio and others indicted in the corruption scandal rocking the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to step down in order to give room for proper investigation and audit of their activities.

NANS and NYCN made the call in separate statements on Sunday.

NANS in its statement signed by its Senate President, Gambo Abu Mohammed, said it decided to lend its voice to the ongoing corruption scandal in order to protect the interest of youths and students in the Niger Delta region whose lives and wellbeing will be directly affected by the activities of NDDC as the body set up to make life better for the people of the oil rich region.
The statement read:

“The Senate Secretariat of NANS have observed with utter dismay the recent ignominious fiasco playing out by the Interim Management Committee of NDDC and it’s supervisory Minister, after careful consideration of the revelations into the activities of the agency by various members involved, it’s only sane for the actors to recuse themselves by stepping down while the verification and hearing into the colossal fraud revealed lasted.”

Mohammed called on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently wade into the crisis by asking those accused of fraud to step down “ while the audits, as well as the hearing from the National assembly Committee is concluded”.

“The riot act read to MDAs by the President and conveyed by his Media Aide, Mal. Garba Shehu isn’t enough to the flagrant disobedience shown by members of his cabinet,” the statement read. “The Niger Delta region deserves a better deal considering the humongous budgetary allocation year in year out, hence the NDDC and it’s supervisory ministry must be purged. The National assembly must be allowed to perform its constitutionally saddled function.”

While calling on all actors in the case to allow the NASS perform its duty of oversight function, the NANS Senate President said “the parliament remains the conscience of every virile democracy and it should be seen to be discharging such responsibilities of oversight into government expenditures without hindrance or disrespect, as provided by our constitution and National assembly act, with a view of blocking wastages, manifest corruption and corrupt practices like the those exposed by Ms Joi Nunieh in NDDC.”

NYCN in a statement by its Deputy President, Comrade Adamu Kabir Matazu, called on President Buhari to immediately suspend Akpabio, in order to give room for unhindered investigation into the damning allegations of corruption levelled against the Minister by the former Interim MD of the Commission, Joy Nunieh.

NYCN said it is disturbed by the growing corruption in the NDDC which has continued to cripple development in the oil rich Niger Delta region since it was established 20 years ago.

“We are stating our position because we are interested in seeing NDDC that works for the benefit of the Niger Delta people,” the statement read.

“We demand President Buhari to act in the best interest of the nation and in the spirit of fighting corruption and routing corrupt public officials in his administration to immediately without further delay suspend Senator Godswill Akpabio.”

The group also passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the House of Representatives and National Assembly for beaming search light into the books of the NDDC.

The statement further read:

“The NYCN salutes, commend and appreciate the House Committee on NDDC for instituting a probe and immediately swung into action in order to unravel the alleged illegal expenditure and mismanagement by the Commission under the supervision of Senator Godswill Akpabio.

“The National Youth Council of Nigeria is a responsible National Youth organization that is interested in seeing a corrupt free Nigeria and will do everything within our powers to fight and bring corrupt public officials to book who are denting the image of Nigeria amongst the comity of nations. And we will not fold our arms to allow this Akpabio matter to be swept under the carpet.

“Finally, we stand with the National assembly Ad-hoc committee and people of the Niger Delta region and we hope and pray that Justice will prevail at the end of the day and all those vultures and economic vampires who are wreaking havoc in the NDDC would be exposed and put to shame.”

Politics / Efcc's Case Against Okupe Suffers Major Setback by jadesoletee(m): 5:40pm On Jun 26, 2019
Okupe did not commit any crime - Shuiabu Salisu, ONSA Director of Finance and Admin

The ongoing corruption trial of Dr. Doyin Okupe by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) appears to have suffered a major setback. The star prosucution witness admitted that Okupe did not commit any crime by receiving money from the office of the NSA, because the payments were made from the budget of the office of National Security Adviser.

The prosecution witness, Alhaji Shuaibu Salisu who is the Director of Finance and Admin in the office National Security Adviser told the court today under cross-examination that he made monthly payments of N10m to the office Senior Special Assistant to President on Media for 'special services' from the budget of the office of National Security Adviser (NSA). Shuaibu who admitted that the payments were not made directly to Dr. Doyin Okupe; also added that the former presidential spokesman has committed no crime by receiving the sundry payments released to his office.

Shauibu also admitted that the Finance Department in the Office of National Security Adviser is exmepted from following Civil Service rules and regulations. He therefore asserted that payments made to individuals and Departments under the presidency do not require receipts or to be retired.

Shuaibu also confirmed that all payments released to Okupe's office were only made after verbal instructions from the National Security Adviser. Although, Shauibu told the court that he was not aware of whatever specific purpose the payments were meant for since he never attended any any of the meetings between the National Security Adviser and Dr. Okupe.

In the cause of further cross-examination of Alhaji Shuaibu Salisu by Barr. Tolu Babaleye, the counsel to Okupe, he
agreed in view of the evidence provided that the funds were released to the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and not personally to Dr. Okupe; as indicated in the payment vouchers.

The case has however been adjourned to Friday, 28th June, 2019.

Politics / Olubunmi Tunji-ojo: Leadership We Can Trust In Gbajabiamila-wase by jadesoletee(m): 9:29am On Jun 09, 2019
Inauguration of the 9th National Assembly as well as the election of the principal officers is only a few days away from now. We the members of the 9th House of Representatives sure have a date with history on Tuesday June 11, 2019 by ensuring that national interest is placed far ahead of all other person interests. We must patriotically endeavour to elect for the House principal officers that have the capacity to deliver good governance, harmonious working relationship with the executive and sustainable development in the country.

We the Honourable members of the 9th House are lucky so to say due to the fact that a viable and competent leadership choice has already been cut out for us and same choice has been endorsed by the majority members of the House. The manifestly and undeniably competent leadership option before us is Gbajabiamila- Wase. This is a leadership option we can trust to run an all inclusive House that will deliver on impactful legislation and accommodate the interests of all members of the lower legislative chamber across party lines.

For the aspiration of Gbajabiamila-Wase, it has been a torrent of endorsements across party lines. This ticket has since been openly endorsed by serving and immediate past governors of both the ruling All Progressive Congress ( APC) and the leading opposition parties in the country. However, it is particularly instructive that the flood gate of endorsements for Gbajabiamila was opened by President Muhammadu Buhari. The president had made it known at several fora that he could only work comfortably with Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.

As the Chairman of the First Timers Forum in the 9th House, I am in the best position to posit that the choice of Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila was not imposed on any one of us. Speakership aspiration of Gbaja had been willingly and gleefully embraced by majority members of the House across party lines, even before the light of widespread endorsements was ignited by President Buhari. As an active player in the Gbajabiamila - Wase project, I make bold to declare that this aspiration has so far secured endorsements of a part of the PDP caucus and other parties. Without being immodest, I can humbly state that this aspiration is victory bound.

The ongoing campaign of calumny on the person of Hon. Gbajabiamila, albeit ineffective one is not totally unexpected. It is however regrettable that wicked and fabricated lies are repeatedly being churned out by a few tantrum throwers to create an illusion of the truth. Meanwhile, the sad news for these mindless elements is that we the concerned actors in the House of Representatives have since made up our minds to swim and stick with Gbajabiamila-Wase leadership.

Moreso, it has become necessary to state emphatically here so as to clear all doubts and further reinforce confidence in the ability Hon. Gbajabiamila that he has never been convicted for any crime in the United States of America, Nigeria or any other country in the whole wide world. It is also an open fact that Hon. Femi has never been accused of corruption and has no corruption charge leveled against him in Nigeria or any where in the whole wide world. The gentleman has never committed perjury nor get convicted for same offence in Nigeria or any nation on the face of earth. What other evidence do we even need on the wicked allegation against Femi Gbajabiamila than the letter of exoneration written by the State Bar of Georgia, in which it was unambiguously stated thus: "There is no criminal conviction in the matter relating to Hon. Femi and he is currently an active member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia”.

Of a particular importance to Gbajabiamila- Wase aspiration was the endorsement and clarification made by the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. He had emphasized on the working chemistry that President Buhari already underscored between himself and Femi Gbajabiamila. The Governor had further cleared the air that it was President Muhammadu Buhari himself that chose Femi Gbajabiamila as the person he could work with in the House of Representatives. Mallam Nasir El-Rufai had also emphasized that the duo of Gbajabiamila and Wase deserved to be Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively on account of being ranking lawmakers with requisite experience to effect the needed reforms and deliver legislative deliverables in 9th Assembly.

The trust reposed in the leadership ability of Gbajabiamila and Wase ticket as well as the evidenced national acceptability of its 'Rainbow Coalition' campaign slogan of “Nation Building: A Joint Task” must have informed why a major contender for Speakership of the House, Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas stepped down and had since joined forces with the camp of Gbajabiamila and Wase.

It is noteworthy that the torrent of endorsements for Femi Gbajabiamila in particular could not have been witnessed if not for the fact of his being a very competent and dutiful lawmaker as seen in the last 16 years. He is a 5th term member of the House who had served as the Minority Leader as well as the Majority Leader of the House. He is a highly patriotic Nigeria and a loyal party man. Gbajabiamila is a manifestly upright, enviably honest and infectiously competent politician. He has over the years demonstrated his abilities of competency, independent mindedness and the spirit of a team player.

What could be described as an icing on the endorsement cake of Gbajabiamila- Wase campaign was given by a senator-elect and former governor of Abia State, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu. He said, " You are not Tinubu’s candidate. It is a mistake. You were endorsed by the Commander-in-Chief and President of Nigeria. He told us in an open place, he told all members of the House of the Representatives and he also told all the senators". The senator- elect had also glowingly described Gbajabiamila as a candidate of every party that is represented in the National Assembly as well as the candidate of the people of Nigeria.

Kalu further said, “You have been endorsed by Mr President; you have been endorsed by the National Working Committee of our party; you have been endorsed by Progressive Governors; you have been endorsed by all levels of our political party and I have no regret, and I am not thinking otherwise in endorsing you as a person and endorsing you from our region,".

My admonition as a patriotic Nigerian to all my colleagues in the 9th House is to please give the needed cooperation to President Buhari for him to achieve the Next Level Agenda by voting overwhelmingly for Gbajabiamila-Wase as the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House on Tuesday June 11. As things stand today, there seems to be no better alternative to Gbajabiamila- Wase if we patriotically hope to rebuilding the economy and deliver economic prosperity to our fellow country men and women.

Politics / For Posterity To Be Kind To Us On Gbajabiamila - By Olubunmi Tunji-ojo by jadesoletee(m): 9:29am On May 28, 2019
The question on the lip of an average Nigerian is whether the country of our collective dream could ever be actualized. However tall as this dream may appear in view prevailing realities, Nigeria still stands a good chance of attaining greatness if merit is given a pride of place in selection of leaders. Opportunities may have been bungled in the past, thereby necessitating the loss of hope by many country men and women in the dream of Nigerian greatness. Meanwhile, a new chapter in the nation's democracy is to be opened in June, 2019 for Nigeria to begin her steps towards greatness.

While the president and all elected governors will be sworn into office precisely on May 29, 2019; the federal legislature will be inaugurated on June 10 or thereabout. Nigeria can only begin her walk to true greatness if the executive is complemented by a very effective legislative arm. It is needless to state that no legislative arm can be expectedly effective without principal officers that are strictly chosen on the basis of merit, competence and experience.

All elected federal lawmakers, particularly my colleagues in the lower legislative chamber are expected to rise above partisan and personal interests by ensuring the election of Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as the Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives.

It has been said that a great person attracts great people and knows how to hold them together. Femi Gbajabiamia is not just a great lawmaker, he is undoubtedly the all embracing best to help in actualizing a greater Nigeria through the instrumentality of innovative legislation. He is also a man of extreme cerebral powers and the charisma to competently pilot the affairs of the lower legislative chamber. It is important to note that no nation can ever attain greatness as long as the very best amongst the citizenry are not in leadership position. Candidature of Gbaabiamila is therefore a matter of much the needed competence, experience and integrity to midwife a greater Nigeria.

The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionably integrity, which Gbajabiamila has demonstrated over the years. Aside this, he is also a lawmaker of note who is unarguably the most proficient in the last sixteen years at the House of Representatives. He has over the years demonstrated true passion on issues concerning Nigeria as a whole and he had worked passionately to address matters of great concern to him. He had promptly in his first term in the House earned an enduring reputation of a true and brilliant legislator on account of his demonstrated passion for the nation and infectious brilliance.

The House Majority Leader of the 8th House, who was also the Minority Whip of the House has to his credit the unmatched record of sponsoring the highest number of Bills in the National Assembly amongst all the legislators. A few of his Bills and Motions so far sponsored in national Included the
Employee Rights Bill, Local content in Construction Industry Bill, Vocational Schools Bill, The Economic Stimulus Bill, Interest-Free Students Loan and Establishment of Nigeria Education Bank Bill.

The lawyer turned politician has been as productive in academics, just the way he has also been in politics. Cerebral Gbajabiamila proved his brilliance at the King Williams College, Isle of Man, United Kingdom where he graduated at the top of his 'A Levels' class around 1980. He repeated the same feat at John Marshall Law School in Atlanta Georgia where he also graduated top of his class and earned himself a Juris Doctorate.

The 56 year old Gbajabiamila is a loyal party man that is always prepared to sacrifice his personal ambition for the interest of his party. He is also a man of proven passion for his country. He has consistently over the years championed the call for fiscal federalism and accountability in public spending. He is a man that had used his personal resources to file several lawsuits against past governments for operating an illegal excess crude oil account and spending of national resources without appropriation.

Gbajabiamila has also proven himself over the years as a true believer in qualitative representation on account of his sterling performance as a lawmaker and delivery of democratic deliverables. Aside his earned reputation as one of the most brilliant minds in the National Assembly, he is also known for always been on the side of truth and justice. Femi has likewise proven himself to be a fearless and independent minded lawmaker who had in the past taken some decisions in national interests which were clearly at great risk to his life and political career. One example of such high risk move by Gbajabiamila in national interest was when he served as the Chairman of the 2007 movement in the House, which effectively ended the “third term agenda” and machinations deployed by former President Obasanjo to perpetuate himself in power back then.

Another instance of demonstration of rare courage by Gbajabiamila in the overall national interest was when he brought a motion on the floor of the House for the invocation of the doctrine of necessity, during the illness and absence of President Umar Musa Yar'adua. This effort in the end led to the swearing-in of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as Acting President. It is apropos to note that Gbajabiamila was the first and only legislator to have mustered the courage to move such motion in the House.

The amply demonstrated instances of patriotic courage by Gbajabiamila was what brought about a popular cliché amongst members of the House that “the fear of Gbajabiamila is the beginning of wisdom". The man has simply earned profound respect from colleagues.

Another demonstrated height of patriotism by Gbajabiamila was in 2011 when he truthfully turned down his nomination for a high ranking National Award of the Officer of the Federal Republic, (OFR). His reason was that he did not deserve it and that the awards system in Nigeria was no longer achieving its original intent. Could there have been a better act of patriotism than this? Gbajabiamila thereafter, went ahead to put up an amendment to the National Honors Act of 1964 for stringent guidelines in the selection of National Award nominees. Femi Gbajabiamila has thus became the third and youngest Nigerian to have rejected National Honours after Late Chinua Achebe and Prof. Grace Alele-Williams.

It is without doubt that the speakership aspiration of Femi Gbajabiamila is an idea whose time has come. Acceptability of his speakership aspiration has no doubt cut across tribes and party lines. Governor Willy Obiano of Anambra state had urged Gbajabiamila and Wase to always prioritise issues that concern Anambra State when they become the presiding officers. In the words of Obiano, “I know Gbajabiamila. He is not someone who would say it is black now and it would suddenly turn to white. That is why I’ve been campaigning for him for long".
The story of acceptance was not different with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state. The Governor in Port Harcourt that he would support Gbajabiamila because he had shown over the years to be able, capable and experienced enough to lead the next House. Woke had further stressed that his support for Gbajabiamila and Wase was not based on party line nor ethnic considerations. “I don’t support you based on party lines; I support you based on capacity. When you get there, we must work as a people. Your party is just a vehicle to convey you to your political destination”. Wike said.

Succinctly put, the chance to put Nigeria on the right footing beckons now through the candidature of Gbajabiamila as the Speaker of the 9th House. Members of the lower House that I am proud to be one of them are therefore urged to take advantage of this golden opportunity in the overall best interest of our nation and children's children and for posterity to continually be kind to us.

Politics / Gbajabiamila Is On Course To Become Speaker - Tunji-ojo, Reps-elect Chairman by jadesoletee(m): 4:53pm On May 21, 2019
Chairman of the First Timers Forum in the soon to be inaugurated 9th House of Representatives, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has described the report of adoption of Hon. Umaru Bago by 156 Reps-elect as untrue and a mere wishful thinking. Tunji-Ojo said he could confidently assert that absolute loyalty of all the 203 'first timers' in the House to the speakership ambition of Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila is never in doubt.

Tunji-Ojo said that all the 203 elected 'first timers' in the House of Representatives would not only strive for the emergence of Gbajabiamila, but would also insist on an open ballot for the election of presiding officers of the 9th National Assembly in June.

Tunji-Ojo added, "We are seriously agitating for open ballot. Our people should also be able to know our position on any national issue. It is ideal for the beauty of democracy and for the preservation of the hallowed chamber, the open ballot should be given a place of priority in our process.”

Tunji-Ojo also described the claim of the Bago's camp as refreshing comedy that could only be dignified with hearty laughter. He said, "As the Chairman of First Timers Forum, I can confidently assure that all our 203 members are with Hon. Gbajabiamila. We have our records, strategy and obtained loyal commitment from members. With all these, I am overly confident that Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila is very much on course to become the Speaker of the 9th House".

It will be recalled that 156 Representatives elect were reported to have declared support for the member representing Chanchanga Federal Constituency of Niger State, Honourable Umaru Mohammed Bago to become Speaker of the 9th House. The meeting where the endorsement took place was said to have been held at a location in Gwarimpa, Abuja early on Saturday, May 18.

Meanwhile, the report of rising support for Hon. Bago has been dismissed by the camp of Hon. Gbajabiamila who is the preferred candidate of the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC). Moreso, the Gbajabiamila's camp had said that nothing concrete was realistically on ground in the opposition camp to stop the member representing Surulere Federal Constituency of Lagos State from becoming the Speaker of the 9th House.

"Politics of who becomes the next Speaker of the House is favourably titling towards the direction of the House Leader, Hon. Gbajabiamila. Although, we are not leaving anything to chance and we will continue to reach out to those that are yet to join our camp. Be as it may, this for us, is a task that must be achieved", said Tunji-Ojo.

Health / Pharmacies Threaten Nationwide Shut Down On Tuesday If Buhari Doesn't Sign Pharm by jadesoletee(m): 8:29pm On May 05, 2019
Pharmacists threaten nationwide shut down of pharmacies on Tuesday if Buhari doesn't sign Pharmacy Bill into law

COMMUNIQUÉ OF THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING OF THE ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY PHARMACISTS OF NIGERIA (ACPN), HELD ON THE
30TH APRIL, 2019 AT TAHIR GUEST PALACE, NASSARAWA GRA, KANO, KANO STATE

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) is made up of The National Executive Committee and Chairmen & Secretaries of the Thirty Six (36) States and FCT Abuja Chapters of the Association.

NEC deliberated on contemporary issues in Community Pharmacy Practice, current national health industry matters and the general state of the Country and came up with the following Resolutions.

1) NEC reviewed the unfortunate fate of the yet to be signed Pharmacy Bill 2017 with barely 25 days to the end of the 2015/2019 Buhari Presidency and the 8th National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It observed with dismay that for a Country like ours which is bedevilled with the twin evils of drug abuse of epidemic proportion and fake drugs, it is unfortunate that the most potent legal instrument that can help to curb this menace is seemingly being treated with levity. After a careful evaluation, NEC resolved as follows:

i) That every community pharmacy practitioner in Nigeria will withdraw their services by closing down their Pharmacies on Tuesday 7th May, 2019 between the 12.00hours and 14.00hours to draw the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari GCOFR on the need to do the needful in public health interest.
ii) That each State branch of the Association should commence advocacy through media interactions to further sensitize the Federal Government of Nigeria on the need to uphold good Pharmacy practise for the citizenry as it is obtainable globally.
iii) That Pharmacists and other stakeholders in health be mobilized to Abuja for a peaceful march in support of this patriotic call for immediate assent of Mr. President to the Pharmacy Council Bill 2017.

2) NEC reviewed the level of effectiveness of regulatory and enforcement activities across the States. As a way of improving this, it mandated the National Executive Committee to broker stakeholder’s meeting between the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN), PCN State Officers, Directors of Pharmaceutical services and the NEC of ACPN.

3) NEC deliberated on the chaotic Drug Distribution System in the country and agreed that the implementation of the National Drugs Distribution Guidelines (NDDGs) remains a viable panacea to chaotic drug distribution, proliferation of fake and counterfeit pharmaceutical products in the country. NEC observed with dismay that despite assurances from the Federal Government of January 2019 as take-off date for implementation, it is yet to take off. The NEC of ACPN therefore urged Government to do the needful to protect Nigerians.

4) NEC commended the management of Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, especially its Registrar, for his efforts in conflict resolution and maintaining a harmonious working relationship with the leadership of ACPN but implored the council to double its efforts in closing down all open drug markets and illegal premises all over the country.

5) NEC congratulated the management of NAFDAC led by Pharm. (Prof) Mrs Mojisola Adeyeye, FPSN, FAS on their 25th anniversary and commended the Director-General for the giant strides being taken to reposition the Agency.

6) NEC, however, observed the drastic increase in the use of narcotics, psychotropic substances and other related drugs by our youths and commended the Conference Planning Committee (CPC) for making this burning issue the theme of this year’s Annual National Scientific Conference for the Association billed to hold from 30th June-6th July, 2019 at the Afficent Event Centre, Nasarawa G. R. A, Kano with the theme “Tackling the menace of drug abuse: An innovative approach”.

NEC reiterated the need for the Federal Government to step up advocacy against drug abuse in print and electronic media in other to safeguard the future of the country.

7) NEC reviewed the level of insecurity in the country with special emphasis on kidnapping, abductions and wanton destruction of innocent lives and properties. NEC therefore, commended the effort of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in curbing this menace and urged all Nigerians to contribute their quota in support of government efforts to bring about reduction of the unfortunate situation.

cool NEC appreciates His Excellency, Gov. Umar Ganduje OFR, the government and the good people of Kano State for hosting the ACPN meeting with its traditional hospitality.

Politics / Much Ado About Arrests Of Opposition Candidates, Leaders On Election Eve by jadesoletee(m): 8:56pm On Feb 22, 2019
It is sad and disheartening that the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu is a new wine in an old wine bottle.

His statement tries unsuccessfully to defend the arrests of PDP senatorial candidates in Kwara and Kano on the pretext that they were involved in political violence that involved loss if lives.

Yes in a situation of this nature Police can apprehend anyone and bring them in for questioning, but essentially they remain suspects in the face of the law. Being suspects all their rights remain intact and inviolable.

Therefore nothing should be done to preclude them from exercising their inalienable right to vote or be voted for.

They should be made to make preliminary statements and immediately released on bail. Anything short of this is tantamount to political victimisation and persecution. In 2019 Nigeria ought to have gone beyond this level.

Murder cases require intense and diligent investigations, and this takes time.

The IG is a high breed police officer who has practiced policing in very civilized climes. He is reputed to have held the very exalted and distinguished post of deputy commandant of INTERPOLE in France.

He must of necessity and commitment to patriotism, rise above the crude shenanigans of out recent and inglorious past.

Politics / Group Accuses Akeredolu Of Being In Possession Of Prepared Inec Results by jadesoletee(m): 3:24pm On Feb 22, 2019
A group within the All Progressives Congress in Ondo state, Patriotic Youths of APC (PYA), has accused the state Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of being in possession of already prepared INEC results ahead of Saturday's presidential and National Assembly elections.

This allegation was made by the Coordinator of the group, Comrade Abayomi Ayerin in a press release issued on Friday. He further alleged that Akeredou had financially compromised INEC Collation Officers in the targeted wards across the state. Abayomi said, "We have it on good authority that this whole anti-party activities are being executed by Ondo State Deputy Gobernor, Agboola Ajayi; albeit on instructions of his boss, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. We want to inform national leadership of APC and security agents that Akeredolu has compromised INEC Collation Officers who have agreed to make room for substitution of original results for already prepared ones in favour of Action Alliance candidates".

It was also alleged by the group that Governor Akeredolu had earlier released the mobilization fund meant for APC agents in Akoko land and some parts of Ondo South Senatorial District to agents of Action Alliance before INEC eventually announced postponement of the election. Abayomi has further alleged that Akeredolu has again concluded plans to starve agents of APC of mobilization funds in all areas where his favorite candidates are contesting on the platform of Action Alliance (AA) during the rescheduled elections on Saturday.

The statement also reads, " The governor became very desperate when leadership of Action Alliance in Ondo State described Tunji Abayomi and other favourite candidates of the Akeredolu as impostors. We are also not unaware of the fact that the new twist of rejection of Akeredolu's candidates by AA leaders in Ondo State and stark reality that the impostors flying the ticket of AA cannot win; must have necessitated the desperate option of result swap".

Meanwhile, Abayomi has however called on all members of APC in Ondo State to do the needful by frustrating the plans of Akeredolu with extreme vigilance. He also advised that Governor Akeredolu should be held responsible in the event that APC recorded a bad outing at the elections.

Politics / Akeredolu, A Threat To APC Victory In Ondo by jadesoletee(m): 1:14pm On Feb 19, 2019
APC Leaders and Elders in Akoko North West Local Government have described the governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu as a huge threat to the victory of the party in the state in the forthcoming elections.

In a statement by its spokesperson, Apalowo Thalis, the elders called on the President and the leadership of the party to look into the looming threat to the victory of the party in the state.

The statement reads:

In line with the ethics and ideology of our party, the APC, we, the leaders and elders of the party in Akoko North West local government wish to call the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari and the National leadership of our party to the looming threat to the victory of our party in Ondo State.

It is no longer news that the media has reported the involvement of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in anti-party activities. What the Media is yet to report is that the governor has mobilised the machineries of the government of Ondo State and local councils to work for his preferred candidates in the Action Alliance (AA).

As a matter of fact, the governor has commissioned many APC leaders in Ondo State for his personal political interest in the Action Alliance (AA).

For us, we consider the report that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu disbursed the money meant for Ondo APC to his political allies in Ondo AA as the height of anti-party activities. In Ondo North senatorial district and other parts of Ondo State, the money meant for APC was distributed to members of AA.

In 2015, Ondo North senatorial district contributed 108,062 votes out of the 299,889 votes polled by the APC in Ondo State. The district, being the abode of the progressives, has never been won over by the opposition.

However, the task of increasing the number of votes polled in 2015 by over 50% is being threatened by presumed friends of our party. Governor Rotimi Akeredolu is the principal threat to the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and other APC candidates in Ondo State.

Meanwhile, it is a known fact that the leadership of AA in Ondo state has complied with the directives of their National leaders to work for the success of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and all PDP candidates in Ondo State.

Despite this reality, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has continued to finance the AA and its candidates in Ondo State. It therefore indicates that the governor is indirectly funding the presidential aspiration of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

As much as we respect the established hierarchy of the party, we wish to express our displeasure at the anti-party activities of the governor and the silence of the National leadership of the party.

As leaders of the party in Ondo State, we no longer trust the governor to lead the party to victory on the 23rd of February 2019. The governor cannot be trusted.

On this note, we reiterate our total support for all APC candidates; President Muhammad Buhari as the President of Nigeria, Senator Robert Ajayi Boroffice as the Senator representing Ondo North senatorial district, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo as House of Representative member to represent Akoko north east/north west Federal constituency.

To ensure the victory of APC in Ondo State, we demand that President Muhammadu Buhari and the National leadership of APC should relate directly with all APC candidates in Ondo State.

Finally, we urge the National leadership of APC to provide necessary support for all APC candidates in Ondo State. This is the sure way to APC's victory in Ondo State.

Politics / Group Accuses Akeredolu Of Ordering Appointees To Win Ward For Action Alliance by jadesoletee(m): 3:58pm On Feb 12, 2019
A group known as Concerned Ondo Youths in APC has once again accused Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu of highest level of anti-party activity by mandating all his political appointees to ensure that they win their wards for Action Alliance (AA) at the expense of All Progressive Congress (APC) in the February 16 elections.

This alarm was raised by the group's Coordinator, Comrade Saheed Atunwa on Sunday in Akure. Akeredolu was earlier accused by the group of releasing fund to all caretaker chairmen and supervisory councillors in Ondo State for the purpose of mobilizing support for Action Alliance. Atunwa lamented that it was unbelievable that Governor Akeredolu could go to the extent of plotting the defeat of his party, APC in Ondo State by threatening to sack any political appointee who fails to win his or her ward for Action Alliance (AA).

Comrade Atunwa said, " We have always been raising alarm that Arakunrin Akeredolu has an agenda to ensure the defeat of APC in Ondo State. We had earlier alerted all members of APC when Akeredolu was about to release fund to all caretaker chairmen and supervisory councillors for the purpose of mobilizing support for Action Alliance. It is quite saddening that a governor that ought to be at the forefront of galvanising support for his party is regrettably the one plotting its failure".

" We are here to reliably raise another alarm and alert all APC members in Ondo State that Akeredolu has made arrangements to give #500,000 to each INEC Collation Officer to rig elections in favour of AA candidates across the state. The governor has also hatched plans to use militants and violence to disrupt elections in all APC strongholds across the states and particularly in Ondo South and Ondo North Senatorial Districts", said Atunwa.

The group further said the Director General of Buhari Campaign was right when he declared at the presidential rally held in Akure that victory may be elusive for APC in Ondo State if all concerned party members fail to work as a team. The latest move by Akeredolu according to Atunwa seemed to have effectively justified the assertion of Rotimi Amaechi. Also,
Comrade Atunwa described the latest action of Akeredolu as the height of anti-party activity that should be appropriately sanctioned by the national leadership of APC.

"The height of anti-party activity is for Governor Akeredolu to have teamed up with a party that has already adopted the presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. The governor cannot in clear conscience justify this action because it is quite inimical to the overall interest of APC", added Atunwa.

Politics / Akeredolu Moves To Destroy APC In Ondo - Members Allege by jadesoletee(m): 11:27pm On Feb 04, 2019
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu is making frantic efforts to ensure the defeat of his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the February 16 elections, concerned members of the party in Ondo state have said.

A reliable source revealed that Akeredolu is expected to release huge fund to all the Caretaker Chairmen and Supervisory Councillors in the state for the purpose of mobilizing support for favourite candidates of the Governor that are contesting on the platform Action Alliance (AA).

The source also revealed that Akeredolu has perfected plans to release fund to all the sacked PDP local government chairmen and councillors. The understanding between the sacked Council bosses and Governor Akeredolu is for them to mobilize for all candidates of Action Alliance (AA) during the February 16 elections.

Concerned members of APC in Ondo State have expressed worry with the anti party activity of Governor Akeredolu which is capable of making the party to lose the February 16 elections in the state.

Apparently disturbed party members in Ondo have called on
national leadership of APC to as a matter of urgency call Governor Akeredolu to order before he succeed in his mission to destroy the party in the Sunshine State.

Politics / Group Asks APC To Expel Akeredolu, Okorocha Over Aa's Adoption Of Atiku by jadesoletee(m): 4:33pm On Jan 15, 2019
A political group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state, the Ondo State Youth Alliance (OSYA), has called for the expulsion of the Governors of Ondo State and Imo state, Rotimi Akeredolu and Rochas Okorocha from the APC over their romance with the Action Alliance (AA) which has adopted the candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar as it's candidate in next month's presidential election.

The group in a statement issued in Akure on Tuesday by its coordinator, Sanya Akinwale, said the anti-party activities of the Governor have gotten to a height where it need to be checked and necessary disciplinary actions needed to be taken before it spells great doom for the APC in the coming presidential election.

The statement reads:
"Governors Akeredolu and Okorocha, though members of the APC have openly declared that they are sponsoring candidates on the platform of the Action Alliance (AA) after failing to get the APC's ticket for their anointed candidates during the APC primaries last year.

"In Ondo state, Akeredolu's candidates who lost out in the APC primaries are in the AA running for National Assembly elections, while the son-in-law of Okorocha and his Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu is the governorship candidate of the AA in Imo state."

Akinwale added that "In Abuja, Akeredolu and Okorocha pretend to be supporting President Buhari's second term agenda, meanwhile their actions back in their respective states show otherwise from what they profess. It is good that their intent has been exposed before it's too late by the recent declaration of the Action Alliance that it has adopted the PDP Presidential candidate as it's candidate.

"The president and the leadership of the APC should not be deceived by the antics of these men who are only concerned about how to actualize their selfish political agenda at the detriment of the APC and the second term agenda of President Buhari."

He therefore stated that "now that the AA has made known it's intentions to support Atiku, it's high time the leadership of the APC stopped condoning and encouraging anti-party activities. No matter their position, nobody is greater than the party, disciplinary actions need to be taken now before it's too late, the party is supreme to everybody and as such nobody should be allowed to get away with actions that would destroy the party and spoil its chances at the polls. Failure to sanction the governors will be seen as setting a very bad precedence for indiscipline among the rank and file of the APC.

"Should the Governors be allowed to get away with their open display of anti-party activities, it will send a very wrong signal to members at the grassroots that such act is encouraged and portray the APC as a party that lacks the power to sanction erring members."

Politics / Efcc Concocts Lies To Incarcerate Okupe Indefinitely by jadesoletee(m): 6:22am On Jan 13, 2019
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has come up with what seems a 'white lie' to justify the detention and hasty arraignment of Dr. Doyin Okupe. The Commission claimed that the former presidential spokesman is being detained because he jumped bail. This is definitely appears a poorly conducted lie because record has it that Okupe has made it a ritual to report daily at the anti-graft agency's office in line with term of his administrative bail.

It is also a fact that Okupe reported as usual at the EFCC office on Friday that he was detained. The question now for EFCC is how could a man being accused of jumping bail still comply with the burdensome terms of his bail to report daily at the Commission's office.

A source close to Doyin Okupe but pleaded anonymity informed journalists in Abuja that the real reason for his (Okupe) detention and planned hasty arraignment is to get the vocal former presidential spokesman out of circulation at the peak of electioneering campaigns.

The source also told journalists that EFCC is acting on the instructions of presidency to ensure that Okupe is particularly silenced ahead of the PDP presidential campaign that is slated for Monday, January 14; which is coincidentally the new date for his hasty arraignment.

" The latest tactic employed by the ruling party is quite worrisome and gives serious cause for concern. This is clearly an effort by the ruling party to silence major opposition voices before the 2019 general elections. Nigerians must wake up to this unfortunate development because of the danger it posses for our democracy" added the source.

Politics / Ajulo Writes INEC, Says Ondo AA Should Not Be Allowed To Flout Electoral Act by jadesoletee(m): 5:08pm On Jan 07, 2019
Legal Practitioner and Human rights activists, Dr Kayode Ajulo has written the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, informing him that the Action Alliance (AA) has no candidate in the 2019 elections in Ondo state and as such should not be allowed to flout the electoral law by fielding candidates for the elections.

In the letter dated 4th January, 2019, Ajulo said the letter became necessary because of the need to guide against the flouting of any part of the Electoral Act as amended. More so, because he is a concerned stakeholder in Ondo State.

The letter reads:

Dear Sir,

LETTER TO INFORM THAT ACTION ALLIANCE HAS NO CANDIDATE IN ONDO STATE

We write to inform you that the Action Alliance (AA) in the eye of the Law governing the conduct of elections in Nigeria do not have any candidate in Ondo State.

The need for this letter has been informed by the fact that we are advocates of strict adherence to the laws guiding conduct of elections in Nigeria and the need to guide against the flouting of any part of the Electoral Act as amended. More so, we are concerned stakeholders in Ondo State.

Sir, you will agree with us that no primary election was conducted in any part of Ondo State by the Action Alliance and this amounts to a major contravention of the Electoral Act as amended. We also like to call your attention to the semblance in the case of Action Alliance in Ondo State and that of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Zamfara State which has no candidate in the forthcoming general elections to be conducted in the state, for its failure to conduct primaries within the time stipulated by the law.

You are to please note that the Law clearly states that all parties must submit their lists of candidates to your Commission not later than sixty (60) days before the date of any election. The Law further states that parties can substitute the names of candidates before the deadline for final submission of names; only when they have conducted primaries that is duly observed and certified by INEC.

We have it on good authority that the Action Alliance (AA) in Ondo State has not complied with any of these provisions in the Electoral Act; thereby forfeiting the legal right to field candidates in Ondo State in the 2019 general elections.

Meanwhile, we urge your Commission to promptly inform the national leadership of AA that it has forfeited its right to field candidate in Ondo State and therefore has no candidate in the 2019 general elections in the state. However, we will not hesitate to approach the court of law for appropriate legal actions if the needful is not done by your Commission.

Please accept our assurances of the highest regards.

Yours faithfully,

Barrister Kayode Ajulo

Politics / AA Has No Candidate In Ondo State - INEC Source Reveals by jadesoletee(m): 7:47pm On Jan 03, 2019
New findings and investigation have revealed that the Action Alliance cannot field any candidate to run in the 2019 general elections in Ondo state.

It would be recalled that the Governor of the State, Rotimi Akeredolu having lost out in the bid to have his candidates as the flagbearer of the APC in the Senate and House of Representatives elections, moved all his anointed candidates who lost out in the APC to run under the platform of the AA.

The Governor's move has raised eyebrows in his party the APC causing bickering between him and the State EXCO of the APC, with many stakeholders in the APC also calling for his sanction by the national leadership of the party for anti-party activities.

According to a highly placed source at the INEC heahquarters, "the Electoral law is clear on this case of submission of names by political parties for election. Political Parties must conduct primaries that must be observed by the officials of INEC, after which the parties must submit their lists of candidates to INEC sixty (60) days before the date of any election.

"Thereafter the party can substitute names of candidates before the deadline for final submission of names, only when they have conducted a primaries duly observed and certified by INEC to be in conformity with the Electoral law.

"In the case of the AA in Ondo state, the party never conducted any congress to elect it's candidates, the party in the state didn't submit any name to the INEC before the closing date stipulated by INEC. Since there was no submission of names initially, there can be no substitution, so as it stands today, the AA in Ondo state and it's pseudo-candidates are only embarking on wild goose chase all their campaign is an effort in futility," the source said.

Politics / Arrest Of Okupe By Efcc, illegal, A Political Witch-hunt To Silence Him - Lawyer by jadesoletee(m): 8:36am On Dec 12, 2018
The detention of former Presidential Spokesperson, Dr Doyin Okupe by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after honouring its invitation on Monday, is a political witch-hunt aimed at silencing him for being critical of the APC-led federal government, his lawyer, Barr Tolu Babaleye has said.

Babaleye in a statement on Tuesday said, for the EFCC to be charging Okupe for an allegation he was investigated two years ago, and was cleared at that time that he had no case to answer, hence he was not charged to any court while his travelling document was returned to him, shows that EFCC is fighting a political war against Okupe.

"Fom all indications, Okupe's detention and the circumstances surrounding his detention is a pointer that it had political undertone as the procedure adopted in detaining him is unconstitutional and unknown to our Law."

Babaleye further stated that Okupe had informed him that his latest ordeal in the hands of the anti-graft agency is not  unconnected with the evidence he gave in support of Chief Olisa Metuh the former National Publicity Secretary of PDP and his turning down of several overtures to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said Okupe's matter with the EFCC got worse when he was appointed as Special Adviser, Media to the Director General of Atiku Presidential Campaign Organization, Dr Bukola Saraki, and started issuing statements that are critical of the ruling APC especially his recent Tweets calling for the change of the Service Chiefs.

Babaleye however called for the immediate release of Okupe "on the basis of his existing administrative bail pending his arraignment in Court to face his Charge which he is prepared to defend whenever called upon to do so."

The statement reads:

"Recall that the operatives of Economics and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) visited the Lagos home of Dr. Doyin Okupe with the aim of arresting him on Saturday the 8th December, 2018.

"On getting to his home, he demanded for letter of invitation or arrest warrant to make the mission of EFCC operatives come within the law of the land; but they were unable to produce any instrument with which to arrest or invite him.

"As a law abiding citizen of Federal Republic of Nigeria, he offered to turn himself in at the office of EFCC at Abuja on Monday 10th December, 2018 at 12 noon and true to his promise; he kept his words and reported at EFCC office at Idiagbon House, opposite Rockview Hotel, Wuse II-Abuja on Monday 10th December, 2018 at 12 noon in company of his team of Lawyers from where he was directed to the Head office at Education Institution District, Jabi-Abuja.

"He was not attended to until about 6pm in the evening when most of the offices had closed as he was led back to the headquarters at this time with a mobile policeman that was armed to the teeth.

"On getting to Idiagbon House, our Client was served with Criminal Charge number FHC/ABJ/CR/222/2018 which is a 59 count Charge filed at the Federal High Court on 6th December, 2018 and there and then, our Client was informed that based on ORDER FROM ABOVE, he would be detained.

"One would have expected the immediate release of someone who has been served with a Criminal Charge to give him adequate time and facility as provided by the Constitution to defend himself but in this case, the Commission chose to disobey the express wordings of the Constitution and detained our Client.

"On Tuesday (11th December, 2018), we proceeded to Federal High Court at Abuja with the hope of going to defend Dr Okupe only to find out that the Charge has not been assigned to any court and no lawyer has been fixed for his arraignment.

"Based on the fact in the above preceding paragraph, we came back to EFCC Office at Wuse II where we met the Investigation Officer who directed us to the Legal Department after narrating our findings at the Federal High Court to him. We proceeded to the Legal Unit and met the Director of Legal at the new EFCC Office at Jabi whom we also told about the ugly development.

"The Director of Legal further directed us to operatives after demanding that Dr. Okupe who hitherto is on administrative bail granted him over two years ago be allowed to continue to enjoy the said bail.

"We refused to get tired and visited the Zonal Director of Operation who is in charge of the case of our Client at the Head office on the advice of Director, Legal Services and narrated the ordeal and demanded for the freedom of our Client.

"The Director of Operations who was very receptive of us directed us back to the Investigation Officer and promised to give him instruction on what to do. After waiting endlessly for Investigation Officer to call us for the release of our Client, we returned to the office of I.O at about 3:30 pm to inquire whether he had received instruction from his boss to which he replied NO.

"We demanded that he should call his boss to find out what to do about our Client but he said it is against rules of engagement in the Commission. At that level, we gave up the hope of allowing our Client to enjoy his administrative bail pending an arraignment that has no date.

"It is very important to tell the whole World about the ordeal of Dr Okupe that we suspect from all indications had political undertone as the procedure adopted in detaining our Client is unconstitutional and unknown to our Law.

"It is worthy of note to let you know that the allegations that our Clients have been charged with was investigated two years ago and our Client was cleared at that time that he had no case to answer, hence he was not charged to any court and on that basis, his travelling document was returned to him.

"That after the Passport was returned to our Client, he was about travelling to America for medicals when he was stopped at the Airport by the DSS on the basis of pending allegations and investigation at EFCC. He got in touch with EFCC who wrote letter to the DSS to allow him to travel on the ground that nothing incriminating was found against him and has been cleared of all allegations. He had since then traveled out of the country three times without molestation.

"Dr. Okupe futher informed us that things changed when he gave evidence in support of Chief Olisa Metuh the former Publicity Secretary of PDP and also turned down overture to join the ruling Party, All Progressives Congress.

"The matter with Dr Okupe got worse when he was appointed as Special Adviser, Media to the Senate President Bukola Saraki who is the Director General of Atiku Campaing for 2019 Presidential Election and started issuing statements that are critical of the ruling APC especially his recent Tweets calling for the change of Commander in Chief of Armed Forces.

"We call on all well-meaning Nigerians to allow Dr Okupe to have his freedom or be allowed to have his day in court haven been served with the allegation against him. The present procedure adopted by filling a charge that has not been assigned to any court and/or listed for hearing and yet our Client has been rearrested and detained without knowing the date of his arraignment is an abuse of court process and unconstitutional as he is still presumed to be innocent until the contrary is proved.

"The EFCC and the Federal Government of Nigeria should note that the whole World is watching us as a Nation and are taking note of how opposition party members are being hounded at the eve of a very crucial General Election. EFCC should note that it is not a department of APC, it is an institution that should be fair to all no matter the political divide that one may belong.

"We call for the release of Dr Okupe immediately on the basis of his existing administrative bail pending his arraignment in Court to face his Charge which he is prepared to defend whenever called upon to do so."

Politics / 'politicians Perpetrating Illegality At Inec Office To Change Candidates Names' by jadesoletee(m): 9:05am On Oct 23, 2018
Some desperate politicians have connived with the leadership of their various political parties to form an unholy alliance with some staff of INEC to engage in illegal changing of names already submitted to the Commission after the October 18 deadline.

A reliable source that pleaded anonymity informed that politicians from the contentious states are the ones mostly seen at the INEC office buying their ways into illegality in obvious contravention of timetable released by the electoral body.

The source further informed that it was unclear if the INEC leadership was aware of the ongoing name changing. Although, the source informed that the name changing has been ongoing for some days now, but only became more pronounced on Monday.

Meanwhile, the ongoing name changing is not same as the official substitution of names by registered political parties. The source said, " What is ongoing at the ICT Centre of INEC is a clear illegality by desperate politicians in collusion with the leadership of their political parties. The deadline given by INEC for official submission of names by all the political parties had since elapsed and any other thing to the contrary at this time is a clear act of illegality ". A source disclosed that some incumbent members of the National Assembly are still laying siege in the Aso Drive residence of the chairman of one of the major political parties to put pressure on him to sign new CF002 forms to facilitate the illegal substitution of names.

However, candidates whose names have been officially submitted to INEC by their political parties have called on the leadership of electoral umpire not to allow anything that will tamper with official lists submitted to the Commission at the close of nomination on 18th October 2018. A House of Representatives candidate from Imo State has called on INEC Chairman to immediately investigate the allegation of name swapping and not hesitate to severely sanction any of its staff that is involved in the ignoble act that is capable of denting the integrity of the
electoral body

Politics / Re: Starting The Conversation: The Focus Is Saraki by jadesoletee(m): 1:10pm On Aug 28, 2018
Let this man just declare biko. For how long will Saraki continue to observe things to get worse before he declares his intention for Presidency?

It's time to give this country a life, we have become too lifeless in the last 3yrs.
Never again shall we allow a man who couldn't make 150 cows multiply to at least 500 after 3decades, to rule this nation.
That's business recession and it's happening with the nation Now.
Politics / 2019: Okupe Tells Saraki To Run For President by jadesoletee(m): 12:39pm On Jul 10, 2018
A chieftain of the Accord Party (AP) and former presidential spokesperson, Dr Doyin Okupe, has advised Senate President Bukola Saraki to leverage on his increasing popularity and contest the 2019 presidential election.

Okupe stated this while analysing the All Progressives Congress (APC) crisis and the recent breakaway of the Reformed APC on Channels Television breakfast show, Sunrise Daily yesterday.

According to him, “Apart from Buhari, the next most visible and most notable politician in Nigeria today is Saraki, and he would do himself a great favour if he steps into the ring and run for president, because he has the pedigree.

“Saraki had the required exposure and experience from being a Special Assistant to the president to being a two-term governor, and now the Senate president. He has been through different stages of leadership and this makes him stand out among many other aspirants who have indicated interest to become president.”

Asked about the feasibility of Saraki clinching the APC presidential ticket against President Muhammadu Buhari, who has also indicated interest to run for a second term on the platform of the party, Okupe said: “APC would be doing themselves a favour if they do not allow the president to run, and I don’t see Saraki contesting primaries in the APC, it is impossible, the hostility against him in the APC is too much, and that is why he needs to move to another party where he can form alliance with other parties to contest.”

Analysing the chances of President Buhari winning the 2019 elections with the present crisis rocking the APC, the former presidential spokesperson said: “Buhari’s government and the APC are presently at the lowest ebb of popularity. The saying that Buhari has 12million votes in the North is delusional, the northerners are also affected by the economic problem Nigeria is facing, and a larger percentage of the goodwill and popularity Buhari enjoyed before the 2015 elections have diminished because the people are not happy.

“Take for instance, Buhari had about two million votes from the Middle belt, now 80 percent of that is gone.”

Okupe opined that any vote Buhari and the APC lose in the North cannot be recovered anywhere else.

Politics / Sponsors Of NASS Protest Do Not Mean Well For Nigeria - Group Says by jadesoletee(m): 4:40pm On Jul 03, 2018
A pro-democracy group, Center for Credible Leadership and Citizens Awareness has said sponsors of a protest at the entrance of National Assembly on Tuesday do not mean well for Nigeria and are determined to plunge Nigeria into a state of fascism or totalitarianism.

The group in a statement signed it's Chairman, Dr Gabriel Nwanbu, on Tuesday, said "our attention has been drawn to the activities of some miscreants parading themselves as members of a civil society organization demonstrating in front of the National Assembly purportedly asking for the immediate resignation and/or impeachment of the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, and linking him with the robbery at Offa, Kwara state.

"It is most unfortunate that a group of hoodlums seen fighting over a stipend of N2,000 distributed by their sponsors who obviously do not mean well for Nigeria and Nigerians by trying to mutilate the high integrity of the National Assembly which is practically the only Arm of Government that is still vibrant, defending Nigerians, asking pertinent questions on the checks and balances of Government as provided by the doctrine of checks and balances in any democratic state.

Let's face the facts squarely, the sponsored miscreants at the demonstration carried placards accusing the Senate President of having connections with the Offa bank robbery. But they fail to acknowledge that leaders of the robbery gang had said it very clearly that Saraki did not and has never sent them for the robbery. What could be the reason for asking for his resignation?

"It is most unfortunate that despite the gruesome killings of Nigerians going on in Taraba, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Adamawa, Zamfara, Delta, etc. and kidnapping all over the nation, the sponsors of the faceless group are not asking the right questions, but have hose the NASS as it's point of attack.

"Killers went on rampage in Plateau State for as much as 7 hours without response from any security agency. You are alive today, but you are not sure of being alive the next minute not due to nature or act of God but because of the menace of herdsmen who are continuously on a killing spree," the group said.

It also asked "Perhaps, we need to ask; what is the value of a Nigerian life?"

The group added "Nigeria has lost over 9 million jobs between 2016 till date. Currently, Nigeria has over-taken India with a higher population, as the poorest nation on this planet earth. This is saddening!

"The only arm of Government asking pertinent questions on these burning national issues is the Legislature. It becomes obvious that sponsors of these orchestrated anti-democratic demonstrations are determined to regress Nigeria to fascism or totalitarianism and as such do not mean any well for the nation.

"It becomes inherent that Government should call these miscreants, under-takers and never-do-well to order and as disassociate herself from these individuals.

"However, we warn these irresponsible individuals and enemies of democracy to desist forthwith as our coalition is determined to commence a mobilization of Nigerians in support of the National Assembly in line with the provisions of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria."

Politics / "IGP Has Been Planning To Frame Saraki Since 2017" - Private Investigator by jadesoletee(m): 11:13pm On Jun 05, 2018
The deep seated desperation of Nigerian Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to frame up Dr. Bukola Saraki since October 2017 has been revealed.

Incontrovertible evidence of IGP's desperation was revealed through his leaked Whatsapp chats with mobile number 08106151389 and text messages on his direct mobile number 08129994006.

Contained in the Whatsapp messages were the chats of Ibrahim Idris with a close ally from whom he specifically requested for more detailed information to nail Saraki and Misau. The chat reads, " We need more details on Saraki and Misau please. Can I see it today because I will be in Nigeria tomorrow".

It was further revealed that the ally assured Idris that he would get more detailed information on Saraki while that of Misau would require going to Dubai because he(Misau) was over there at the time. " I will get more on Saraki but Misau has in Dubai and will require going there".

Other Whatsapp chats that revealed IGP's urgent desperation to implicate Saraki include: " Give me Saraki own I need it urgently pls.
Ok let me get that of Saraki urgently today. We will later organize that of Misau when I get to Nigeria tomorrow pls".

Personal email address of IGP Ibrahim Idris, afoleeyah@gmail.com was also sent to the same ally on Friday 6 October, 2017 for onward forwarding of expected information on Bukola Saraki.

This revelation has justified the constant position of the Saraki that recent actions of Ibrahim Idris were premeditated efforts to soil his good name and frame him up at all cost.

Politics / #nottooyoungtorun Bill: Saraki, Senate Deserve Lots Of Accolades by jadesoletee(m): 7:20pm On May 31, 2018
#NotTooYoungToRun Bill: Saraki, Senate deserve lots of accolades

Nigeria democracy recorded a historical and landmark victory on Thursday with the assent to the much celebrated and agitated Not too Young to Run Bill, ten months after the Senate took a hhistorically bold step to pass it into law.

It would not be out of place to say since Nigeria returned to democratic government in 1999, no bill has had this high level of impression and received so much attention like the just assented Not Too Young to Run Bill and no Senate has been so effective and efficient like the present Senate. This is not unconnected with the fact that it is a bill that directly affects the majority of the populace, the youths who make up about 60% of the total population of the nation.

The Bill is an amendment of Section 65 (1), 106(b), 131 (b), 177 (b) of the constitution. Prior to the amendment, the Constitution required that anyone vying for a seat at the National Assembly must attain the age of 35 years for Senate and 30 years for House of Representatives; section 106 (b) stipulated that a candidate must attain the age of 30yrs before contesting for a seat at the state House of Assembly; Section 131 (b) pegged the age of 40 years for candidates vying for the office of the President; while Section 177(b) pegged Age of governorship candidates as for 35 years.

From this, it is clear that the Nigerian constitution was deliberately configured to disenfranchise the majority of the population, who are the youths from age 18 to 28 years from seeking political office at their prime, which is why many take solace in serving as political errand boys.

With this amendment, passage and signing into law, age of a Presidential aspirant has been reduced from 40 years to 30 years; Governors have been reduced from 35 years to 30 years; Senate from 35 years to 30 years; House of Representatives from 30 years to 25 years; and House of Assembly which was hitherto at 30 years has been reduced to 25 years.

Kudos must be given to the present Senate under the leadership of Senator Bukola Saraki for daring all odds and listening to the voice of reasoning to lift the barrier that has cut off so many young people with intellect, vigour and passion to advance the course of the nation through public elective office.

It would be recalled that the bill, which was finally signed into law by the President on Thursday, after so much appeal and advocacy by Civil Society Organisations, was passed into law ten months ago, July 2017. The Senate's passage of the Bill gave it the needed fillip to move forward and see the light of the day, it could have been killed on arrival at the Senate if the Senate is not truly committed to its success.

The Nigerian Senate demonstrated a high level of responsibility and commitment to the inclusion of a very crucial segment of the nation's population in Democratic governance and not the popular use as political thugs and attack dogs.

It is also a huge demonstration that the present Senate led by Saraki is truly committed to youth development and not just mouthing the commitment. It is walking the talk. And this is evident with the high number of young appointees working as aides to the Senate President.

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, was also quoted to have said that the passage and assent to the #NotTooYoungToRun Bill, will be the first phase in the journey for more youth inclusion in politics. Advising the youths "to use same energy that you applied to the ‘Not Too Young to Run’, to push for free and fair elections. When you have the voice, you have the numbers."

While we continue to give lots of accolades to the Senate President and the Senate for the removal of the major barrier serving as impediment to youths inclusion in governance, the ball is now in the court of the young people to fully take charge of this bill to their advantage

Politics / Is It Time To Change The IGP? by jadesoletee(m): 9:02pm On May 18, 2018
By Musa Lawal

The nation’s Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim seems to have risen above the law of the land and control of the president who appointed him. This is as extremely worrisome as it is setting a terrible precedence in the country.

What is particularly curious about the recent actions of the Inspector General of Police is the temerity with which he had repeatedly called the bluff of the Senate institution and disobeyed orders given to him by President Muhammadu Buhari.

It must be agreed that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris would not have ordinarily behaved this way if not for some hidden reasons that are perhaps not known to the public. But one thing that is incontrovertible is the fact that the police boss has been compensated with the position of Inspector General.

It can also be concluded that the same hidden reason that is responsible for the now seeming “above the law” disposition of the Police IG must have also informed his appointment in the first instance.

Meanwhile, record has it that Ibrahim Idris was in 2015 the Police Commissioner in charge of Kano state when he superintended the delivery of millions of votes to the APC.

He was still the same police boss in-charge of Kano state when the INEC Commissioner for the state was burnt to death with his wife and two children in a rather unexplainable circumstance. It will be recalled that President Buhari garnered nearly two million votes in the most populous northern state during the 2015 presidential election.

Meanwhile, curious but disturbing questions need to be asked on the circumstances surrounding the appointment of Ibrahim Idris as the IGP in the first instance.

What could have led to the to compulsorily retirement of 21 AIGs and 7 DIGs just for Ibrahim Idris to become the IGP ? What other factor could have been responsible for the unprecedented promotions given to Ibrahim Idris from the rank of Commissioner of Police in 2015 to Assistant Inspector General, to Deputy Inspector General and Inspector General of Police all from year 2015 to 2016?

We also need to know what could have made the IGP disobeyed the instruction of the president without any consequence till date ?

Another probing question is what was the good quality seen in Ibrahim Idris by President Buhari at the time of his appointment that was not found in any of his compulsorily retired 28 seniors? We need not be told that Idris had been merely compensated for his hatchet job in the 2015 presidential election held in Kano and the subsequent cover-up in the investigation of circumstances leading to and surrounding the death of the INEC Commissioner.

It is most regrettable that Ibrahim Idris has now constituted himself into an authority that cannot be questioned; as a result has become so emboldened to have conveniently disobeyed several Senate invitations. It is particularly very sad that the man even feels at ease in the face of mindless bloodletting across the country.

However, no sinner can hide behind one finger for too long. The dirty past of the IGP has been exposed and the earlier he is relieved of his position, the faster solutions could be found to the reign of impunity and ceaseless killings across the land. Time is now for President Buhari to remove the IGP from office and safe the nation from further gruesome killings and maiming.
