Politics / Beachland Estate Bridge In Trouble by kech(f): 5:03pm On Jan 27, 2012
MODERATOR PLEASE PUT ON THE FRONT PAGE. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!

Guys please I need to make a complaint oooo. How do I reach Oga Fashola. If u guys are familiar with Beachland Estate area you’ll know that for the past two weeks tankers have taken over the area because of the 3 fuel depots located there. They are on the bridge, on the road, EVERYWHERE!, The residents of the estate can’t even leave their houses in the morning! Those tankers are there from morning till night. My main reason for complaint is that I was caught in that traffic jam on the bridge to the estate and as I was in the car, I felt the bridge MOVE!!! Not vibrate o! I know what a vibration feels like, I said MOVE!, I promise you!!!, As in, I left my car and started running! Someone parked close to me did the same. You guys, if you see the bridge, it’s not a big bridge like Carter or Marina oo, it’s just one of all these small bridges that link one side of the road to the other. Yet tankers are parked on it on both lanes EVERYDAY!!!, TANKERS WITH FUEL! How do I spread this message because that bridge will fall if they don’t get those tankers off. At the moment I do not even walk on the bridge anymore. If that bridge falls, that whole area, up to Tin-Can is finished. Guys please if you know anyone that can get this message across to the appropriate authorities, please do!

Politics / Aide To Gov.ikedi Ohakim Threatens Imo State Blog Author. by kech(f): 11:56pm On Jun 19, 2011
Guys, you guys need to visit this blog, Imolites especially. We need more of these brave bloggers in Naija. In fact I think every state should have one of these where they can hold their respective governors accountable for their actions. Here's an article the author wrote about a threat she received from the aide to the past Imo State governor because of her articles.

[b]So here I am minding my business on Facebook and I get an inbox-message from an IKEDI OHAKIM account.
Subject line: U better mind Ur language,
OK. I dont see an elderly man like Gov.Ohakim using abbreviations like  (U and UR) ; moreover, shouldnt Gov.Ohakim be too busy for Facebook? I was reliably informed he frequents this blog from his IPAD. I hear he reads and sometimes laughs it off so, I was shocked to receive such an ikiriotic message from a faceless Coward.
I had made up my mind to overlook the empty threat but its 2:30am my time and here I am with another express inbox message:

Between You and Ikedi Godson Ohakim
Subject: U better mind ur language,
Ikedi Godson Ohakim May 24 at 4:45pm Report

Joi John May 24 at 5:31pm
How do you mean? Is this a joke? Mind which Language?
The Gov.Ohakim we know should not have time for Facebook at this critical period. Have you people finished packing?
If you are an AIDE of His Excellency, you must be very stupid to threaten me with such nonsense. EWU!
Oh and by the way, I will dedidate a special shout out to His Excellency for reading the Blog. Heard that yesterday so go back and tell him that I am humbled. More articles to follow.

Ikedi Godson Ohakim May 24 at 5:43pm Report
U will definitely see… Hope u know

Joi John May 24 at 6:20pm
Now I am convinced you are retarded. Why am I even wasting my time with a mere AIDE?

Ikedi Godson Ohakim May 25 at 2:23am  Report
We shall see who definitely laughs last: Dont say i didnt warn u

Politics / Rochas Okorocha Declares Free Education For All In Imo State At Inauguration. by kech(f): 8:59am On May 30, 2011
Rochas Ooooooo! I heard it was something else in Owerri! The gist was that, as Rochas was coming out he was crying and singing "There is something that makes me come into your presence, my Helper!" As he reached the podium, he declared, "As from today!, education in Imo State is free! Everybody screamed! The Imo people asked him about a lot of issues including if he was going to probe Ohakim, he said "No", that Ohakim will reap what he sowed. He quietly asked robbers and kidnappers to leave the state for their own good because Imo was going to be too hot for them. I 'm so proud to be from Imo right now. I pray God guides him to deliver on his promises. I agree with u Rochas, leave Ohakim and face your duty, let the EFCC deal with him. They said a lot of people were crying in the crowd. My friends who watched it on TV also cried. That man is truly inspirational.

Politics / Efcc After Governors Daniel, Akala, Ohakim, Saraki, And 5 Others by kech(f): 10:16pm On May 11, 2011
Immunity clause may have prevented the long arm of the law from encircling them but that will soon be over for nine outgoing state governors across Nigeria. Sources at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC told P.M.NEWS this morning that the anti-graft agency is going after the nine state governors it perceives have cases to answer over how they spent the billions of naira allocated to their states throughout their tenure.

According to our sources, loads of petitions against the nine governors are now with the EFCC and in a matter of days the governors will be made to account for their deeds as the commission says it has begun to investigate them. The nine outgoing governors, according to P.M.NEWS findings, are Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State, Adebayo Alao-Akala of Oyo State, Bukola Saraki of Kwara State and Ikedi Ohakim of Imo State.

Others are,

Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano State, Ibrahim Shinkafi of Zamfara State, Muhammadu Goje of Gombe State, Modu Sheriff of Borno State and Akwe Doma of Nassarawa State. On 29 May, precisely 19 days from today, these governors will lose their immunity as none of them will return to office, having either completed their two terms in office or lost their re-election bid in last month’s governorship election.

P.M.NEWS gathered that one of the petitions sent to EFCC against Akwe Doma, the outgoing Nassarawa state governor, was written by Alhaji Ibrahim Shekarau Musa, Secretary of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, in Nasarawa State. In the petition, Alhaji Musa alleged that Akwe Doma’s son, Umar, is one of the fronts the governor is using to siphon money to the tune of N9 billion.

It was also alleged that the state’s Ministry of Water Resources raised the sum of N900 million through a backdated memo for the purported supply of chemicals. The Ministry of Housing and Health were also allegedly ordered to raise N200 million and N340 million through a fictitious backdated memo for the construction of the Banquet Hall of Government House.

It was further alleged in the petition that a backdated memo was used to raise an additional N68 million to cover the cost of accommodation for pilgrims participating in this year’s Hajj operation. EFCC has already moved to Nassarawa state as well as the other 8 states whose governors are under probe.

Already, EFCC is prosecuting 14 former state governors for alleged corrupt enrichment while they were in office between 1999 and 2007. The former governors are Joshua Dariye of Plateau State whose case is pending at the Federal High Court in Abuja; Abdullahi Adamu of Nassarawa dragged to the Federal High Court, Lafia; Abubakar Audu of Kogi State with case at the Federal High Court in Lokoja; Saminu Turaki, former governor of Jigawa State who is being tried at the Federal High Court, Abuja; Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia State facing trial also in Abuja; Boni Haruna of Adamawa with case at Federal High Court, Abuja and Michael Botmang of Plateau facing trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Other former governors on trial at various Federal High Courts are Ayo Fayose of Ekiti, James Ibori of Delta, Lucky Igbinedion of Edo, Chimaroke Nnamani of Enugu, Jolly Nyame of Taraba, Rasheed Ladoja of Oyo and Attahiru Bafarawa of Sokoto State. Ibori is also currently facing trial in the United Kingdom after he was extradited from Dubai to face money laundering charges.

His wife, sister and associate have been jailed for the same offence in UK. EFCC operatives had tried to arrest Ibori last year but he escaped to Dubai where he was eventually arrested and extradited to the UK.

Politics / The Man Ohakim Flogged Like A Dog! by kech(f): 10:46pm On Apr 24, 2011
On the morning of January 21, 2010, as five armed policemen escorted Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha into the black Toyota Prado SUV registered to the Imo State government house, his neighbours must have looked on with envy.

They would have thought that Mr Iwuoha's activism had finally caught the attention of the authorities and that the government had decided to hush him up by rewarding him with a cabinet position. Or what else could be the reason for the VIP treatment he was receiving?

Little did they know that this wasn't actually a luxury ride but one that would take Mr Iwuoha to hell. On that day, the governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, took it upon himself to personally flog the 40-year-old father of two. Right inside the governor's office, the governor, armed with a horsewhip, stripped Mr Iwuoha completely naked and for almost two hours flogged him like an erring donkey.

The activist, who has filed several legal suits against the governor, said his experience is one he will not forget in a hurry. He said it is his efforts to point out the excesses of state officials that have turned him into the governor's number one enemy.

But an aide to the governor, Henry Ekpe, decribed Mr Iwuoha as little more than a criminal. He said the conviction of the man by a state magistrate should caution reporters against believing his story.

"This matter has been over-flogged by the press," Mr Ekpe, the spokesperson to the governor, said. "He was taken to court over the defamation of the character of the governor and he was convicted. I learnt he appealed, but the appeal was thrown out. He is even a jail bird as I'm talking to you now over this allegation. I don't know why he is revisiting that issue. What he said was discovered to be baseless and he was convicted over the allegation. Nothing of such ever happened. He raised this issue to smear the character of the governor. It was discovered to be a fabrication and he was jailed."

The abused man however said his conviction had nothing to do with the substance of his allegations. "The magistrate sentenced me to three months in jail for abusing the judicial process," he said. "On July 2, 2010, I went to court for the usual hearing of my suit against the governor and the chief magistrate, Victoria Isiguzo, said I granted an interview with a local paper. The magistrate sentenced me to three months in prison for granting an interview on a matter that was still pending in court."

Enemy No. 1

Mr Iwuoha, when asked how he was transformed from being a staunch supporter of the governor to being his number one enemy, said his refusal to keep quiet in the face of misgovernance was the source of his suffering.

"When Ikedi Ohakim was sworn in as the governor of Imo State, he was wholeheartedly received by the people," he said. "People believed that his coming into governance will bring the needed peace. But unfortunately, he shot himself in the foot when he embarked on the destruction of the economic activities of the poor masses without cogent reasons."

Mr Iwuoha confronted Mr Ohakim by putting his pen to work. He churned out a series of commentaries in the vibrant local media in Owerri as well as in national newspapers where he highlighted the alleged misrule and misappropriations of the Ohakim's administration.

His write-ups caught the governor's attention.

"The governor became jittery", he said. According to Mr Iwuoha, in a desperate means to shut him up, the governor ordered that his businesses be shut down.

Attack on his business

Mr Iwuoha is a petroleum product dealer. He sells kerosene and engine oil and he has several outlets in Owerri and its environs.

"As a way to melt down my opinion and force me to recoil in my cocoon, he instructed his special assistant on environment, Willie Amadi, to destroy my businesses," the man said.

The attack on his means of livelihood, rather than shut Mr Iwuoha up, instead fired him up. "But he was shocked. Rather than subdue me I came out boldly to challenge him".

Mr Iwuoha wrote several petitions to security and anti-graft agencies which did not elicit any meaningful response. Matters came to a head after Mr Iwuoha wrote a petition to the state house of assembly demanding that the legislators constitute a probe panel to look into the alleged widespread mismanagement and misappropriation of public fund of the Ohakim administration.

At this juncture, the governor allegedly decided he had had enough. Mr Iwuoha's "excesses" had become personal and needed to be dealt with personally.

The abduction and beating

"It was like a mafioso movie", said Mr Iwuoha while recounting the way the governor's security detail abducted him from his house and presented him to their ‘godfather'.

"The governor sent five armed men to my house at Plot 98, Ikenegbu Extension, Owerri. Four of them were wearing mufti; only one was wearing a bulletproof vest. They knocked at my gate and told me that the then-commissioner of police, Aloysius Okorie, was looking for me. I told them it wasn't true because two days earlier I had a conversation with the commissioner where I agree to see him in two days' time. They pulled their guns on me and ordered me to come out."

But before Mr Iwuoha followed the policemen, he put a call through to the commissioner who, after initially denying that he sent the men, reluctantly told Mr Iwuoha to follow them. But before he did, he told Mr Okorie that he had called his folks and told them that if anything happens to him, the police commissioner should be held responsible.

At this point, Mr Iwuoha had no inkling of what awaited him until he stepped out of his house and discovered that the SUV had a government house number plate. He protested, but he was ordered to get into the vehicle.

At the government house, after more than two hours of being held hostage in the SUV, he was driven to the governor's office.

"As I was led into the governor's office by the chief security officer, the governor shouted, ‘Lock the door, lock the door,' and the door was shut. The chief security officer pointed a gun to my head and the governor ordered me to pull off my clothes," he said.

Mr Iwuoha said he was too shocked to think. While he hesitated, he said governor walked to him and with the help of one of his goons, identified as Kenneth, personally tore off all items of clothing on him. He was completely naked.

"The governor head-butted me, punched me in the face and kicked me before returning to his table to grab a horsewhip," recalled Mr Iwuoha. "He ordered me to lie on the rug and he flogged me ruthless. It is natural, when the pains became unbearable, I cried for mercy.

"While he was at it, his younger brother, Emmanuel Ohakim, who doubles as his chief of staff rushed in and shouted, ‘His excellency, his excellency!' The governor looked up and said, ‘Emma, this is Ikenna Samuelson. I will kill him today.'"

Luckily for Mr Iwuoha, the governor's brother wasn't happy about what was going on. He sighed and walked out of the office. His brother's reaction calmed the governor little. Mr Iwuoha quickly saw an opening to save his head.

"Then I told him that what he was doing was abnormal, that he was desecrating the office of the governor; besides, I also reminded him that my wife is from his town and that according to Igbo culture, he was my children's Nna Ochie (godfather)," the beaten man said.

He said his plea apparently had some effect on Mr Ohakim and he stopped the beating completely.

"He pulled a seat and started shouting: ‘Samuelson, why are you disgracing me in this country? Why are you disgracing the governor of Imo State?'"

Mr Iwuoha said he believed the governor had planned to kill him on that day. He said his saving grace was probably the call he made to the state police commissioner when he was being taken from his home and the reaction of the governor's brother.

Mr Iwuoha has initiated several court cases against the governor which have ended up nowhere, due to the immunity from prosecution the governor enjoys.

Politics / Youth Corper Butcherd In Bauchi! by kech(f): 11:34pm On Apr 20, 2011
A friend's status on Facebook read:

"Let's all give a moment of silence and think about the senseless loss of obinna okpokiri, 27years of age estate management graduate,Abia state university, butchered and burnt in bauchi state. Can he be brought back ? No, never, not ever! This is the shameful reality of electoral madness as seen in the north! Its a bad thing, cos soon, blood shall gladly beget blood!"

I'm so upset! Tears are in my eyes as I type. And these are the same corpers INEC tried to call irresponsible and illiterate when INEC goofed at the the start of registration. These are these are the same corpers that are now expendable abi? As for NYSC, please stop sending southerners to the north! This is so unfair! What of the 50 corpers they locked in a building and tried to burn? Imagine if they had succeeded?
Romance / Re: Is It A Must To Marry The Girl You Impregnated by kech(f): 1:58am On Mar 12, 2011
I was about to bring up this topic. I have a friend in this situation. To the OP and his question, my answer is a capital NO! One thing that irks and irritates me is when some women try to play the victim. (Please note I said some) Please tell me how two consenting adults will decide to sleep together without protection, one gets pregnant and decides for some funny reason that the other should pay the ultimate price because of the calamity THEY BOTH got themselves into. Was the sekx at gun point? They are both adults, they both consciously made the mistake so they should both EQUALLY bear the consequences. Unfortunately, we women are at a disadvantage because we get to carry the baby for 9 months while the man just goes about his business; and after the baby is born, we live with the stigma. Well, the more reason why women should be more careful. I would think that when two adults want to have sekx the woman is the more careful one because she has more to lose. In the heat of the moment, most men lose their senses and become careless, but women are still sane enough to stop the act and demand protection because even in that moment, the thought of an unwanted pregnancy flashes briefly thru her mind. If she decides to go ahead without one, she is responsible for that decision and should be ready to bear the consequences if they don't turn out the way she wants them to. (As in the guy marrying her).

My friend is in the same situation with a girl he just met a few months ago. They started having casual sekx and kasala come burst. My friend is devastated, he thinks he was set up (usual excuse). I asked what his plans were and he said marriage was out of the question cos he couldn't confidently say he knew the girl well enough, let alone have feelings for her. I was shocked and scolded him about being careless and irresponsible. Told him to man up and accept responsibility for the child which he said he would. Of course we know that for most girls, that's not the point. The point is "When are u coming to see my parents?" Infact, the girl and the mom are already planning an Easter wedding "before the belle shows"  shocked. The boy's parents never know o! This thing just happened and wedding plans are already under-way? Wonderful! Anyway, my friend told the girl what he felt and the girl is not happy obviously, she's playing the sentiment card and already threatening fire and brimstone and running-around-naked-while-praying and all that ish! BULLSHIT! I told him that if she does that, he should also run around naked and pray, then let the "blameless" and "innocent" one among them win. I don't buy into that idea that the man should forcefully marry you because he got you pregnant. If he wants to, and I mean truly wants to, as in he-loves-u-and-all, fine; if he doesn't, please RUN! It's not worth it. I've seen it ruin marriages. It's tempting to just get married immediately to "save face", but when the repercussions come, you'll gnash your teeth. And please don't blame the devil then o! YOU did it!

To the person saying, "its the Christain thing to do", say who? I don't buy that. I don't know what happens in other churches but in the Catholic Church pregnancy is not a good enough reason for marriage.  If a couple gets married because it is the "responsible" thing to do after a pregnancy has occured, it just makes the situation worse in the future. The Catholic Church demands that people enter into marriage freely, with no external pressures. Anything short of that could be grounds for annulment in the future (that is if all attempts at resolving the marriage fails). Marriage is SACRED!
As a woman, I feel for the lady involved but I like to tell it like it is. I wouldn't want anyone to sugar-coat things for me either. All it does is cause bigger heartaches in the future. I know how it feels cos it hits close to home. When my sister got pregnant for a guy who wasn't ready to settle down, I looked her in the eye and told her she goofed and should have known better. I told her to stop playing victim and move on with her life. Luckily I have parents who share my views and have no time for unnecessary drama. My sister is a happier person now.

That being said, I think guys in this situation should be responsible for the child's upkeep and expenses until he/she is an adult (by Naija standards o! No be 21). You also have a responsibility as a father to that child to care for him/her like one and do all the things daddies do. Even when you eventually get married to someone else, you have a responsibility to protect the child and his future, cos we all know it's not going to be easy when another woman gets into the picture.

Morale of the long story? Men and Women, if you don't want to deal with an unplanned pregnancy, don't have sekx, or use protection. If you don't, don't start crying foul. It's pathetic.

Infact, sometime last year it was in the news that she was seriously thinking about getting implants. She hasn't done it yet. If she does, I'm sure we'll all hear it. Used to have this colleague in the office that will always beg you to give him a small piece of what you are eating. Whether its a snack or your lunch, he must have a spoon or two. I mean WTF !! angry angry You cannot keep anything like a drink or snack in the office fridge but he will eat it. Whether its chin-chin, popcorn, meat pie, burger etc, he will pester you to give him a taste.[b] I once told him i would put Gamalin-20 in a snack and leave it for him to eat and die. Celebrities / D'banj Vs Ikechukwu Update! Sarah Blasts D'banj. by kech(f): 5:39pm On Nov 17, 2010
Rapper Ikechukwu and the Mohits team have parted ways and all is not well between them,so it was no suprise when the rumour started like a whisper ,but then it slowly spread round and soon;the it grew louder until Someone tweeted the rumour on the rappers timeline saying

''Theres a rumour going round that dbanj slept with your chick''.

Killz says:''Nobody slept with sarah ofili!,Ok o I don't know how these stories are being made but nobody tried to toast my woman o. Gosh you guys can entertain yourselves o kai''.

And Sarah replies: ''Over my f**king  dead body will Dbanj sleep with me, thats just gross, have you seen my man Killz? I have enough 6pack, I dont need two and half. I live in london and not ikeja. We have never been friends not to talk of lovers. If he has problems with my man he should take it up with him like a man and leave my name out of this market crap. How come he has not responded that this rumour is a lie? Because it is feeding his ego, but when they said Ike beat him up his team quickly tweeted that its a lie but now that a woman is involved they dont want to clear names. Its disgusting Nigerian men quickly turn to women to do their dirty work, they cant stand the heat so all the blame is put on a woman. I will not tolerate my name and image being toyed with. If anyone carries this dirty rumour further without proof they will face the consequences. This is libel. What a disgusting defamation of my character!''

Sarahs 'camp'further responded that 'She has a lot of projects coming up, including her childrens foundation and this is not an image she wants to potray as a dirty cheating woman. Everyone knows by now who her man is and she is very satisfied with him.''.
