Programming / Re: Do I Need Certificate As A Programmer? by Kobojunkie: 9:00pm On Jun 02, 2013
talk2hb1:
Just kidding wink if at all those organization want to recruit you must have some security clearance, @OP most employer do not request for your certificate all they need is/are prove to show that you are competent to work for them, in most case your portfolio.

Security clearance is obtainable as long as your record is traceable. If not, I don't know what happens then.
Programming / Re: Do I Need Certificate As A Programmer? by Kobojunkie: 8:35pm On Jun 02, 2013
talk2hb1: Yes you can easily get a job without certificate, but some programming jobs required certification eg NSA, FBI, and CIA.

Those organizations you listed only require certification mostly in cases where they are not able to accurately establish proof of your experience/record. If you have a verifiable record as a professional, and you meet the basic educational requirements, you are able to get any job out there.
Programming / Re: The Exercises In Java How To Program Books Are Too Hard For Me by Kobojunkie: 11:56pm On May 26, 2013
Onliie: Ive been studying the book Java How to Program for a while now, i easily grasp the concepts and explanations. But when it comes to the exercises at the end of each chapter, i find it difficult to solve. Can anybody advise me on this problem.

ADVISE STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART: If this problem is not just to do with Java examples and exams, Go see a clinical Psychologist and take the ADHD exam. I am not sure if you have good psychologists/psychiatrists in Nigeria, but I think you should try to find one and make sure you do not have that problem at least.
Programming / Re: Testing Twoway Sms Application by Kobojunkie: 11:54pm On May 26, 2013
coolcurrent4u: I need to test the application in some way before going live.

i just developed a twoway sms application. when you send message to a 5 digit shortcode, that message get forwarded to a url i have specified in the service provider so i can process it and send response

is there any emulator/simulator that you have used to do this your self

Thanks

Have you sufficiently unit tested the application? If yes, then you don't really need an emulator . .. you can create a test app to send to a test 5-digit code and have a test in the url that it is forwarded to to, catch messages from your test code, and send responses back letting you know your test worked, or not.

caroline2120: please the conversion is in vb.net: from string to ascii code and vice versa

You want to, given a string, print out the ASCII code that corresponds to each character? That is easy. You can simply write you a function to map each character in your string to the corresponding ASCII code. Here is a link to show you what ASCII code maps to what character.

http://www.asciitable.com/

Once you get writing your function, you will definitely start to see the pattern and be better able to re-factor your code appropriately. Post the code you come up with and maybe then we can better help you see what you may be missing still.
Programming / Re: Want To Learn To Program In A New Language? by Kobojunkie: 11:46pm On May 26, 2013
madelinekim: If you want to learn new programming language then you have to make your base or fundamental of programming clear which is the first step to move ahead. After making the base clear you can move high level language like .NET, JAVA, PHP etc whatever you want.

I disagree! You can start learning with any language out there, whether it be a high-level language, a pure language, hybrid or even low level languages like assembly and machine code. The main is to understand the basics of programming in general, and I am talking memory organization, control structures, procedures calls, types etc. Then you can learn basically any programming language in the world, in a matter of days, even.

convert vector to string..? you know that the string class is a subclass of vector

A String is not a subclass of a Vector class . .. not in C, C++, Java, .NET, or any of the other languages I know. You probably meant something else.
Programming / Re: C Code Help: How Do I Go About This? (pointer To Pointer) by Kobojunkie: 2:04am On May 21, 2013

Char* Page1[] is an array of pointers, but the members "Header1", "pg1menu1" etc are not pointers, but strings! This makes nonsense of the rest of the code /*pardon my dull head*/

In C, a string is represented by an array of chars, and what you really are getting is a pointer to the first element in the array. i.e the definition

char CString[] ="MyString";

is really a pointer pointing to the first element in the array CString

So, if you were to try to get the third element in that array by using code such as below

char element = CString[2];

what you in fact doing is specifying an offset from the start pointer location to the element you want. In this case, since this is an array of characters, you are indicating that you want the value at the address[location pointed to by the pointer CString(i.e location 0 + 2 bytes], this translates to the location where element with index 2 or element 3 is stored in the array.

@Poster, looking carefully at your test code there

for(i=0; i<=sizeof(page1); i++)
{
Printf("%s", allpages[i];
}

What the above says is,

* Starting from index 0, to the sizeof the array defined by Char* page1[] = {"Header1","pg1menu1","pg1menu2","pg1menu3"};, which is 3, print in string format, all the entries in the array defined by Char** allpages[] = {page1, page2, page3};

* It so happens that the elements in Char** allpages[] = {page1, page2, page3}; , are addresses, and not Strings as you seem to expect there. So what you get printed out there is a list of the all the pointer addresses contained in allpages(the pointers will store the address to the first character in it's own array), after which it errors out or prints more crap since your loop there is looking for items from 0 to 3, which is beyond the bounds of the array, allpages.
Family / Re: An Abandoned Child At Iyana Ipaja. by Kobojunkie: 3:33am On Mar 01, 2013
berem: I was on my to Oshodi via Iyana Ipaja and came across a crowd gathered around a child about 4 years old. I ask few women what happened and they asked me if i was a presswoman. I told them no but will like to know what happened. They told me they found the boy at the foot of the bridge heavily asleep. Probably he was drugged by the mother. When he woke up he started demanding for food. The boy looked malnourished and couldn't utter a word. As i was recording this he was being fed.

I couldn't wait to know what the crowd wanted to do to help the child because i was in a hurry.

Poster, can you find your way back to the same area in the morning to at least confirm that the boy was not later on abandoned by the people who fed him?

Pick up a book about Programming and software Design. Read all the chapters in the book and you should have more than the basics to do this simple assignment of yours @Poster.

Please do not be afraid of books. . . . Get to the point where you read through 2 programming books a month. Even if you do not get all that was explained, pick up reference books to help you, and in no time, it will all make so much sense that you will wonder what the frell stopped you from getting it in the beginning.

// If a does not exist in the graph yet.
//Try using a less than one instead of an equal to minus 1. The reason I say this is because no where in your code here do you actually set the value of aPosition and bPosition to -1, and in Java, the default value for integers is not really -1.

if(aPosition < 1)
aPosition = graph.addNode(a);
// If b does not exist in the graph yet.

It is likely that the program is failing somewhere in your code, but you aren't catching or handling the issue. Please try to unit test your class, and step throu7ggh this bit to find where the potential bugs may exist. Scanner class is not the problem.

Since you are not satisfied with your current level, have you at least worked on re-learning it all on your own first? I have found that the same textbooks you use in class, can help you gain the same knowledge if you read them on your own. I have learnt quite a bit that way. Though I still sign up at the colleges to get the credits for the class afterwards.

What kind of a response is this? Is it that you folks have suffered so much that more of the same is all you think you are worth? If you do not know how things should work at least look to examples around the world of how these same issues are tackled. As someone suggested, rather the number of coaches on that route ought to be increased to accommodate the people. I don't understand how anyone sane being can suggest that increasing fare is the way to go simply because there is high traffic to this particular destination. That is nothing but suffering-is-you-lot mentality.
