Politics / Re: FG Votes N3bn For Lagos-ibadan Expressway Rehabilitation by koruji(m): 12:23am On Jun 20, 2013 |
Please anybody in the house that has plied the Lagos-Ibadan road in recent times should help confirm/refute the first part of the Chairman of FERMA's statement in the quote below, while we wait for the 10-lane agenda. They did allocate N3 billion to this road in the 2013 budget - we are halfway through 2013 already. Quote: “Lagos/Ibadan route is better than what it used to be. It is going to be a pure reconstruction and realignment as the government tends to increase the number of each side lane to five.” In any case, this is another one for the records. http://tribune.com.ng/news2013/en/news/item/14695-lagos-ibadan-expressway-to-be-10-lanes-%E2%80%94ferma.html koruji: No comment for now - just for the records. |

Bad belleism is worrying you. You think roads are going to be constructed with your words? No, it takes money - and it is these private businesses that will pay the taxes that will allow the kind of public projects you will like to see to be implemented. No wonder Fashola said people are hard to please - build bridge for them, ask them to pay a toll, they refuse. Get private businesses to put up investments that will generate revenue to build more roads and bridges, they condemn. Go back to ya village where you can drink, eat and travel on hot air !!! dplordx: with the whole of alimosho in pitch darkness, and the roads cluttered with potholes and so much insecurity, this is exactly what we need. |
Politics / Re: Jonathan Is The Most Maligned Nigerian Leader, Says Precidency. True Or False? by koruji(m): 3:30am On Jun 14, 2013 |
The reason GEJ is the most MALIGNED leader is because he is also perhaps the most confused and MISALIGNED leader we have ever had. GEJ's convictions are only those that protect his political fortunes and he will do/say anything to that end - everything else (security of life and property, fight against corruption, etc.) be damned. Foreign Affairs / Re: Syrian Government Forces Punched Obama At The Right Eye by koruji(m): 3:20am On Jun 14, 2013 |
I think your last line hit the nail on the head. Libya will not be quickly forgotten by the policy-makers in Washington - despite Mr. "Bmb Bmb" Iran - aka McCain. I think the Middle East is headed towards Somalia. Since US forces left that country it has not known peace - they have fought each other for 20+ years with half-hearted interventions by the powers that be. The US stepped in to stop the slaughter that Ghaddafi promised to conduct on his people, hoping to help the cause of people-rule, but many in the ME complained vehemently. Add to that the killing of the US ambassador in Libya and you have a US that will not step into another internally generated ME crisis for the foreseeable future - except when it involves Israel. Heck some of the underground hawks might even be hoping for an all out Sunnis/Shites war in the ME so the extremists can kill each other off - while standing ready to protect Israel and perhaps make Iran a collateral damage along the way. So, look for the Obama administration to supply some weapons, but nothing that will be a game changer any time soon. Prof Corruption: |

A prophet is not honored in his own home. I also have issues with the quality of our movies but won't condemn them in these words. Recently met a total stranger from Ghana who on hearing that I am Nigerian proudly announced that he has over 200 DVDs of Nigerian movies - and then added "they are great". No matter how you cut it - the average Nigerian and other Africans enjoy these movies !!! So if you know a way to make these movies better - speak up instead of condeming them. 50calibre: Nigerian movies are like jokes, I wonder how any right thinking person can cough out money to buy these nonsense they keep churning out. See how amateurish that set looks, it probably a N500k budget film, but would rake in millions. |

Politics / Re: GEJ Is Destroying His Enemies, Plain And Simple (sanusi, NGF, APC, Amaechi, Etc) by koruji(m): 12:11am On Jun 10, 2013 |
This is silly. Do you know how many 1000s BH killed before GEJ moved his butt? The only reason he moved was because foreign intelligence agencies woke him up to the reality that those animals were about to declare a republic up north. Even in my armchair here I could see that was where they were going - talkless of a man entrusted with the entire intelligence apparatus of a nation. In reality GEJ did not have to wait until his nation was being balkanized. The cries of 1000s of souls should have moved a true leader to deliver the death blow to those beasts long ago. zanga420: perfect analysis, goverment is about being humane not brutal. I'm really happy how GEJ has handled boko haram, free n fair elections(edo, ondo etc). Its those that lack intelligence that turn everything to force. Besides all these saying Jonathan handled boko haram late, would've been the 1st to accusse him of being too froward to attack the north(that he hates the north) and the accussation 'll be in that order, hateful hypocrisy is not they way forward, if we must move forward. |

You are comparing GEJ's incompetent action to the America's NSA. Sleep and death comparison. First, anybody who believes any government that claims they are not snooping on your tel. calls in this age of terrorism need to have his/her head examined. Second, GEJ's assignment of a national security affair to a foreign country is the most egregious action any president can take - at least openly. It was a dangerous move not only for our present but into the far future of Nigeria. Hovabuzz: There is this issue and discussion going on in this social media platform. @automaticcarzz: Good insight here. @OP: You need to shed your chameleon ways. First, you list all manners of undemocratic and despotic tendencies of GEJ, then you declared him the best thing since buttered bread. Please pity your own oblongata - stop feeding it confusing messages. There is no doubt that GEJ found some good people - people that are hitching to make Nigeria better - to serve in his cabinet. However, his indecisive, lack of clear thinking and corrupt ways are preventing these people from making much headway. He is incapable of making serious security decisions until forced to do so, but would come out to say things that make you wonder what he does just before speaking. When GEJ crossed the length and breadth of Nigeria proclaiming TOTAL TRANSFORMATION at the top of his voice we did not realize he meant reviving a 100 year-old train service that will move Nigerians at TWICE THE SPEED OF HORSEBACK RIDING and re-modelling TAXI PARK AIRPORTS. If this is the transformation you are dancing naked over, I wonder what non-transformation under GEJ would have looked like. automaticcarzz: So much I hate Obasanjo, he was better than retardeen Ebele Jonathan. Without Obasanjo's introduction and revolution of GSM service, you wouldn't be here surfing on your phone. Obasanjo paid off our debt, but Jonadunce has mortgaged your life for generations to come. Obasanjo wouldn't have waited over two years before confronting Boko boys, but Jonadunce waited till it was politically convinient before he acted. Obasanjo would not have offered amnesty to people who killed, maimed and murdered innocent men, women and children but incompetent Jonathan offered amnesty to killers. Jonadunce could not get a competent Finance Minister he went for Iweala who served under Obasanjo. Obasanjo left 67 billion dollars surplus but we hardly have 13 billion dollars in reserve. I rate Obasanjo fist three years in power as 30/100 but I have to rate Jonadunce first three years as 10/100. I am being liberal with my grade. |

Politics / Re: Senate Recommendation.: Successors Can’t Vie For Dead President’s, Gov’s Offices by koruji(m): 5:14am On Jun 06, 2013 |
Yes, that is another complication they are not thinking about in making this recommendation. psalmizt: My question on this successor thingy is, what if the successor then refuses to assume the throne because he knows his chances of running 2 terms will be scuffled? He simply refuses and then they have to call a general election. Not sure that is a route that you will want to take 1year into a 4year term. |

Politics / Senate Recommendation.: Successors Can’t Vie For Dead President’s, Gov’s Offices by koruji(m): 3:28am On Jun 06, 2013 |
If you read everything there are some good recommendations in the proposed amendment. However, the headline recommendation is like killing a housefly with a gun. My simpler solution to the GEJ imbrogilio: If a VP serves out more than 1 year of a dead or impeached president he can only run for another single term, otherwise he is allowed to contest for two terms. The real solution is to straighten out the system so that we minimize the chance of a president's death in office. The senate's recommendation seems to envision frequent deaths of presidents far into Nigeria's future !!! My real recommendation is to do away with a single presidency for a joint, never-ending, presidency consisting of 6 or so geopolitical representatives. Under this presidency each region will serve as president for two years in a pre-determined turn. National elections for geo-political "presidents" take place every four years, but each one must be re-confirmed or replaced by a vote of the joint assembly of geo-political states every two years. Each of the geopolitical presidents will hold national security, policing and international diplomacy portfolios (two per portfolio), while ministers are appointed by the presidency/legislature to handle economic development and other non-security related portfolios. National level decisions would be taken jointly by the entire body through open (and frequent votes), with the current president allowed the final decision when there is a tie. The job of each portfolio "president" would mainly consist of implementing decisions and bringing issues requiring decisions to the body. I would also reduce our bicameral legislature to a unicameral one, with a size that is mid-way between the current Senate and House of Assembly. http://www.tribune.com.ng/news2013/en/component/k2/item/13696-senate-constitution-amendment-recommendation-successors-can%E2%80%99t-vie-for-dead-president%E2%80%99s,-gov%E2%80%99s-offices-%E2%80%A2wants-lg-autonomy,-fiscal-federalism,-attorney-general-separated-from-minister-of-justice.html |
