Award-winning singer/songwriter, Wande Coal, of Mavin Records has announced in a press statement that he has no plans to set up his own record label. The Mavin artist has emphatically denied online reports, stating that he that he wished to set up his own music label. The RnB star reaffirmed his commitment to Don Jazzy’s label and insisted that Mavin provided an enabling environment for him to realize all his ambitions as an artist.

In the press statement Wande Coal expressed his anger at the rumours being peddled that he is dissatisfied with the operations of Mavin Records. He equally stated that he and Don Jazzy had never once discussed the possibility of setting up a new label. He added that it was quite unfortunate that reputable entertainment magazines were sharing unconfirmed news.

“There have been no such plans, and I wish to remain in Mavin Records,” he said.

“Mavin Records is my family and will always remain so. I want to thank all my fans for continuing to support me. We still have a very long journey ahead.”

Wande Coal, born Wande Ojosipe, joined the fast-growing records outfit after leaving Mo’Hits Records, together with Dr SID, Dr Prince, and Don Jazzy, who founded Mavin Records in May 2012. Wande’s songs were included in the Solar Plexus album, featuring songs that have since dominated the airwaves in Nigeria. Wande has collaborated with several other major African artists such as WizKid, Naeto C, Duncan Mighty and R2B.

He has also brought his irrepressible energy when sharing the stage with international acts such as Jay Z, Beyonce, Snoop Dogg, Ciara, Rihanna, Busta Rhymes and many more. Wande has won several awards and his searing vocals can be heard on Solar Plexus in “Forever,” “See me Ri,” and “Pretty Girls.”

The singer is currently working on his second album following the huge successes of “Private Trips” and “Go Low”

DISTURBED by the high level of immorality it has caused among Imo people, the State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has ordered the immediate closure of all clubs where women dance in the nude.

Briefing journalists on Tuesday in Owerri, the state capital, Okorocha regretted that the state had been turned into ‘Sodom and Gomorrah’ of the Bible where young girls dance completely naked in the clubs at night, threatening to deal with any such club operator who fails to carry the order.

He said: “This administration will not tolerate any lawlessness any more. We notice some lawlessness in the state and this government will deal ruthlessly with anybody found to be exposing our young girls. Enough of this nonsense.”

It was discovered by The Guardian that several nude clubs operate in many parts of Owerri with certain days designated for particular activities, such as dancing with their pants on, or completely naked.

The governor, who noted that such clubs were havens for criminals, directed immediate enforcement of the law on demolition of any house found to be a hideout for kidnappers.

While commending security operatives in the state for rescuing a five- year- old baby from kidnappers,who stormed a village in Isiala Mbano, he urged the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adisa Bolanta, to direct his men to work harder to secure the state during the festive period.

Also speaking, Bolanta said the command has successfully apprehended three suspects who allegedly masterminded the murder of the ruler of Umueze Abazu Ogwa, Mbaitoli Local Council, Eze Stanley Akuneto, last May, adding that they had been arraigned in court.

Bolanta also assured the family of the abducted Permanent Secretary in the office of the Deputy Governor of the state, Emenike Ihekwuaba , of the preparedness to track down his kidnappers and that from all indications, he was still alive in their den.

“We were able to trace them. Victims are highly-placed citizens of this state,” he said.

The commissioner also said about two kidnap victims were rescued in Otulu, Oru East Council while five suspected kidnappers were arrested.

He regretted that those who abducted the five-year- old child were taking her to Zamfara for ritual purposes.

He promised Imo people of continued efforts to rid the state of criminals, criminals, especially during this festive season.

The wife of the Oyo State governor, Florence Ajimobi, on Wednesday dismissed media reports that she had been arrested by London Metropolitan Police for alleged money laundering.

Mrs Ajimobi, who arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos at 6:50am aboard a Virgin Atlantic Airways aircraft, said the PM News report that she was arrested in London last Saturday for money laundering was the handiwork of mischief makers, who she said were playing “dirty politics”.

She said the originators of the report were out to tarnish her image.

The Oyo state first lady explained that she had on Sunday accompanied her daughter, who was returning to school in London.

She said: “I have never had any encounter with the London Metropolitan Police and I will never do. It was just a rumour, like you said. I think the time has come for Nigerians to stop playing dirty politics.

“We should be very objective when giving information, particularly members of the press. We should always verify the information we are given. The ultimate measure of any man or woman is where you stand in times of conflict, challenges and controversy and not in times of comfort. I stand on the solid rock of Jesus Christ and all other grounds are sinking sand.

“This is a phase and it will pass over, because I am more than a conqueror. It is the price I have to pay as the wife of a politician, particularly in Oyo State, where there is a record of dirty politics. I do not have any blemish in my wardrobe and I am never going to have any.”
Mrs Ajimobi said contrary to another rumour that she was arrested two weeks ago, she travelled with her husband to Taipei, Asia, through Dubai, for an official assignment.

She said: “I went on an official visit to Taiwan with my husband and we did not go to London. From Lagos, we went to Dubai, then Hong Kong and Taipei. From Taipei, we returned to Hong Kong, Dubai and back to Lagos. The record is there in my international passport. I can give you my passport to photocopy.

“It was also alleged that I had travelled out of Nigeria 52 times since my husband assumed office. That sounds very ridiculous to me. It means I do not even live in Nigeria. Like I said, we can make photocopies of my passport for verification.”

On her mission to London on Sunday, Mrs. Ajimobi said: “I have a 14-year-old child that has been in England since 2007. She is still in secondary school and comes home. The school insists that parents pick up their children because they are minors and there are no exemptions for international pupils.

“I cannot shelve my responsibilities as a mother because my husband is a governor. I have to manage my home, take care of my children and be a responsible and committed mother. That I will do, no matter what anybody says. My children need me. My daughter in London needs me and I will be there for her. I am not using government funds because she has been there since 2007.”

The first lady said those spreading rumours about her arrest should fear God.

She said: “The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. If they have the fear of God, they will stop being mischievous. They should think before they act because on judgment day, we will all account for our actions.

“I do not grudge them; I just know they have God to contend with. I have maintained a good reputation for over 32 years and anybody trying to tarnish that image will have God to contend with. I know they will pay for it.”

Venus Williams has arrived Lagos, Nigeria aboard Turkish Airline and was received at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

Then on Thursday, the tennis legends will pay a visit to the Government College, Osborne Road, Ikoyi and a red carpet Gala slated for the Federal Palace Hotel in the evening.

Another exhibition match at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan is scheduled for Friday before their departure that day.

The Rivers State Government has confirmed the purchase of a brand new Bombardier Jet for Governor Chibuike Amaechi at a cost of $45million.

Mrs. Ibim Semenitari,the Commissioner for Information in reaction to inquiries by P.M.NEWS said “It was paid for two years ago. The reason is for safety. The new aircraft is a much safer one.”

She said the old aircraft will be sold.

According to a report, Amaechi acquired the brand new Bombardier Global 5000 (N565RS) for his exclusive use.

The report criticised Amaechi for going for such luxury ” at time hundreds of thousands of residents in his state are displaced by the worst flooding crisis in the state’s history”.

However,Semenitari pointed out that the purchase was made two years ago based on expert advice that the new one is safer.

She argued that the Governor duly consulted the Rivers state House of Assembly and the purchase was approved.

She said that the state government has not neglected the flood victims.

According to the Saharareporters, however,the newly purchased jet left Montreal-Trudeau Airport in Montreal, Quebec to Dakar Yoff International Airport.

And then it was delivered to the state government on 7 October 2012.

The jet was primarily purchased from Bombardier in Canada for $45.7 million through the Bank of Utah Trustee account.

“This is an ungodly act,” said a Port Harcourt-based human rights campaigner.

Amaechi was said to have traded off the state’s current Embraer Legacy 600 claiming it was too expensive to maintain.

There were also unconfirmed claims that the jet was struck by lightning”.

P.M.NEWS recalls that the sale of Rivers’ Dash 8-Q200 aircraft to Cross River State for $6 million.

Cross River State government decision to lease the plane to Aero Contractors to undertake commercial flights to and from Obudu airstrip was a source of media war between the State Action Congress of Nigeria,A C N,the State government.

The state claimed it sold the plane at 6Million US Dollars,while the Cross Rivers state goverment claimed it bought it at 9Million Dollars.

The ACN spokesman,Jerry Needam, asked the state government to come out clean about the actual amount it sold the aircraft.

The Federal Ministry of Aviation has just issued a statement saying the Taraba State Governor, Danbaba Suntai, and the other five passengers aboard the crashed plane are alive.

The statement titled “Incident Involving Aircraft, Cessna 208, 5N-BMJ in Yola, Adamawa State, reads:

“An aircraft, Cessna 208 with 6 souls on board including crew, operated by the Taraba State Government departed Jalingo, Taraba State for Yola this evening and reported contact with the Yola Control Tower (1720Z) and field in sight at 38 miles estimating landing at 1730Z. The pilot subsequently lost contact with Yola Control Tower and subsequent effort to raise the aircraft failed.”

“Search & Rescue was immediately activated and site of incident located with all victims alive with various degrees of injuries. The victims have been evacuated to the hospital for treatment pending further investigation of the incident.”

“This is the correct version of the incident; every other one that is contrary to this is incorrect.”
