Source http://nigerside.com/official-statement-stephen-keshi-withdraws-resignation-from-super-eagles-coach-role/

It’s been a few hours since Stephen Keshi‘s surprising resignation as the head coach of the Super Eagles. He is currently reconsidering his decision and has released the following statement.

My attention has been drawn to reports in the media that I have resigned my appointment as the Head Coach of Super Eagles of Nigeria.
While I have had cause to express my displeasure over some issues that happened in the course of our participation in the AFCON 2013, which my team won by the grace of God, especially concerning my relationship with the Nigerian Football Federation, I have since had opportunity to discuss the various issues with all concerned. I am therefore pleased to say that I have reconsidered my position and have decided to continue with my job.
I want to thank the Honourable Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, for his swift and kind intervention.

Amd you all forget the zoning thing in Anambra. Forget the headlines, i work in the most influential media house in anambra at the moment. A private radio station based in onitsha, so am not partisan here. I am not from anambra either. My unbiased opinion; The big truth is that things have changed. I feel that Governor Obi WILL still determine who replaces him. He is very smart, has the power and grassroots influence. He has invested a lot in the state too. The last time he came around here, he admitted on air that the governorship is going to Anambra North who have not produced any governor in the state history. Unfortunately, 90% of the popular candidates are not from anamra north. I see Obi picking a CATHOLIC APGA member as obi's replacement. Probably someone in the current cabinet or from past ones like former SSG, Mr Paul Odenigo. You can quote me in 2014. Also watch out for the CATHOLIC i wrote in caps. The catholic church in Anambra has a lot of influence too.

Politics / Orient Petroleum, Anambra And Enugu Oil Well Dispute: No Resolution Yet – Enugu by marocguy(m): 8:04am On Aug 30, 2012
http://nationalmirroronline.net/news/49852.html

Enugu State Government has refuted claims that the rift between it and the Orient Petroleum Plc, OPR, over oil wells has been resolved. The OPR Managing Director, Mr. Emeka Nwawka, was recently quoted by the media as saying that the issues relating to the operations of the oil wells in Ojjor, Iggah and Asaba communities, all in the Uzo- Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, were resolved at a meeting between officials of the state government led by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Amaechi Okolo, and the company. However, the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Chuks Ugwoke, described Nwawka’s claim as an “unfortunate misrepresentation of the facts”.

He said though the government would continue to encourage OPR and other private sector investments in the state or elsewhere in the country, it had become necessary to correct the wrong impression created by Nwawka that the issues had been resolved.

The face-off is over the refusal of the company to acknowledge that it has oil wells in Enugu State and not only in Anambra State and the need to reflect the existence of oil wells in the three communities in all its communications and instruments.

Admitting that the two parties met over the matter on the July 31, the commissioner noted that “no resolution of any sort was reached” as the company merely briefed the representatives of the state government on its operations in the affected communities and even proposed that a conflict resolution committee be set up to address the issues while holding further talks on it.

Politics / Oyo Lawmakers' Wives Harassed In London by marocguy(m): 10:25am On Jul 22, 2012

Public angst against the London trip of wives of Oyo State legislators has spread to London, where irate indigenes of the state living in the British capital stormed the Custom House London hotel, where they were lodged, to protest their stay.

The 31 women, who were led by Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Jumoke Sumonu, were in London to attend a workshop on how to support their husbands for effective performance in their legislative duties.

The trip has generated public anger and criticisms, as it was funded with state funds, allegedly to the tune of N50 million, with stipends given to the women for shopping.

According to online media network, newsbreaknigeria, Oyo citizens resident in London, who got wind of the jamboree, staged a peaceful demonstration, vowing to occupy the venue until the women left town. They were said to have rained curses and abuses on the lawmakers and their spouses for allegedly wasting “the scarce resources of the state”.

Sumonu, who headed the delegation, was reported to have called in the London police when it became obvious the protesters were not ready to shift ground. The police, on arrival, appealed to the protesters to disperse. The protesters reportedly left the hotel after police persuasion.

Locally, there have been wide condemnations of the state government’s sponsorship of the programme, with the Zonal Publicity Secretary of the party, Kayode Babade, querying the constitutionality, justification and relevance of the trip .

The state’s PDP group through Dotun Oyelade also expressed misgivings over the trip “at a time thousands of indigenes have lost all they have and most structures in the state under severe stress”. The Speaker in an interview with yet another online journalist, Kola Ogundamisi, defended the training programme, which she admitted also had sight-seeing component during the weekend.

She described as false claims that the hotel was booked for 10 days, or that each room cost £100, adding that a room cost £75, while two women were paired in a room. Sumonu said no principal officer of the house was involved, while she was the only legislator on the trip. Dismissing criticisms, she said: “Oyo is not the only state doing this. Some other states had been around before.”

She said the various media attacks as well as invasion of the hotel by Oyo indigenes in London have made her apprehensive because the wives of the legislators were already jittery, just as many of them said they were no longer interested in the programme.

According to her, “everywhere in the world, leaders get paid from public funds; the only thing is to ensure that money is judiciously spent.” Asked whether it would not have been more judicious to hold the course in Nigeria, Sumonu brushed the suggestion aside, saying many Nigerians, especially those in Diaspora, like to run good things down

Politics / Anambra Govt And Orient Petroleum Soldiers Intimidate Enugu Oil Comm. Wit Murder by marocguy(m): 6:29am On Jun 26, 2012
Anxiety and confusion has enveloped Igga Community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government area of Enugu state following the alleged killing of a teenager by a combined patrol team of Umueje Vigilante group and some armed soldiers in the area.

The deceased who was simply identified as Onyibo Obiora was allegedly killed by the security operatives while he was asleep in front of his residence when the armed soldiers and some members of Umueje vigilante group besieged the community on routine security patrol of the area.

Crime Guard gathered that Iggah Community in Enugu State has a boundary with Umueje community in Anambra State while the army patrol team from Anambra State allegedly invaded Igga where the said Obiora was shot dead.

Investigations showed that no tangible reason was given on why the deceased was allegedly shot dead by the operatives who entered the community with a Hilux van belonging to an oil construction company, Niger Cat.

Igga community is endowed with natural oil deposits which has been explored over the years for mining but there has been a simmering disagreement between Enugu and Anambra states over the ownership of the land where the oil deposits was discovered.

Amidst the controversy, reports said Anambra State Government allegedly granted license to Orient Oil Company to prospect and exploit the oil deposits in the area.

Crime Guard learnt that the combined patrol team of the army and vigilante group may have been on mission, patrolling the oil well when a trigger-happy officer allegedly shot and killed Obiora in front of his residence. A relation to the deceased, Anselem Onyibo told Crime Guard that it was unbelievable that some one could be shot dead without committing any offence.

He noted that Obiora was sleeping in front of their house when he suddenly heard loud sound and foot prints. He reportedly jumped up from sleep and started running and was allegedly gunned down for no reason.

Contacted for comment on mobile phone, the Chairman of Uzo-Uwani local government area, Cornel Onwubuya told Crime Guard that news of the alleged killing of the youth was surprising to him, and a source of worry to Uzo-Uwnai L.G.A.

He noted that he had forwarded a complaint to Enugu State Governor Sullivan Chime over the killing stressing that he had earlier met with the Chief Security Officer of Orient company who promised to dialogue with the local government council but he never showed up till the time of the killing. “As I speak with you, I have not seen the CSO who had promised to dialogue with us”, he explained.

Also commenting on the incident, the regent of Igga community, Prince Herbert Ukuta said he was yet to know exactly why the deceased was allegedly killed by the combined patrol team of army and Umueje vigilante group stressing that the General Officer Commanding the army in Enugu State has been contacted while Uzo-Uwani police division took the corpse and deposited it at a mortuary in Adani

Prince Ukuta said that Igga is a peace-loving community that will not take laws into their hands and called for detailed investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged killing of Obiora Onyibo.

He also assured members of his community that Gov. Sullivan Chime is greatly concern, and will not relent in seeing that justice was done.

Efforts made to speak with the police public relations officer in Enugu State, Ebere Amarizu proved abortive as he did not confirm the incident.

FINALLY THE TRUTH COMES OUT, ALL THANKS TO MY FORMIDABLE L.G.A CHAIRMAN. NOBODY BELIEVED MY EARLIER POST CONCERNING MY COMMUNITY ON THIS CASE AGAINST ANSG AND ORIENT PETROLEUM PLC.

By TONY EDIKE
ENUGU—ANAMBRA State government’s desire to join the league of oil producing states in the country may be stalemated if the crisis brewing between the state and host communities of the oil wells in Enugu State is not resolved.

Uzo-Uwani local government area of Enugu State where the two oil blocks acquired by Orient Petroleum are located, have threatened to stop the company from commencing activities in the area for allegedly failing to accord the council its due recognition.

Chairman of the council, Cornel Onwubuya, who briefed newsmen on the development yesterday, frowned on what he described as misleading pronouncement from chairman of the Board of Directors of Orient Petroleum, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, that Anambra would soon become an oil producing state, even when the oil wells which the company intended to explore are located in Enugu State.

According to him, the pronouncement by the former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth is already generating tension among the host communities of Igga, Asaba, Ojjor and Ogrugu in Enugu State.

He said: “Following the widely publicized Orient Petroleum’s facilities inspection trip to Enugu Otu by the company’s chairman, board of directors, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, alongside Anambra State governor, Mr. Peter Obi and other notable personalities and statements coming therefrom that Anambra State, to the exclusion of Enugu State, was set to join the league of other oil producing states in Nigeria, I on behalf of Uzo-Uwani LGA of Enugu State, want to register my peoples’ displeasure against the above misleading pronouncements from Chief Emeka Anyaoku which is already generating tension amongst oil hosting communities of Igga, Asaba, Ojjor and Ogrugu in Enugu State.”

Onwubuya contended that since these communities were in Enugu State, the records have to be put straight that with the commencement of production of crude oil any time from now, Anambra and Enugu states would automatically become oil producing states and have their fair share of liabilities and privileges accruable to other oil producing states in the country.

Agreeing that Orient Petroleum was promoted by majority of Anambra State indigenes, with controlling shares of the company, Onwubuya insisted that the least his local council will expect from the management of the company was to ensure that the council was put in the picture of what was happening about the exploration of oil in the wells.

He vowed that his local government would not allow itself to be excluded from being fully involved in benefitting from the resource.

“This is because the two oil wells, from all historical and documentary evidence are situated in Igga land in Uzo-Uwani local government of Enugu state.

“The distance of the oil wells to Igga is 8 kilometres and 7 kilometres from Echenwo community in Ibaji local council of Kogi state. The nearest Anambra migrant settlement, Enugu Otu to the oil well is 50 kilometres,” he said.

Onwubuya, however, declared his council’s willingness to co-operate with Orient Petroleum to execute its crude oil production mandate from the inland basin belonging to Enugu, Anambra and Kogi states, saying that this was as a result of courtesy visit paid Governor Sullivan Chime by Orient Petroleum in which the governor assured them of the commitment of Enugu in the successful take off of oil production.

He also demanded that his local government should be in the Local Content Act of 2006 in terms of offering employment to qualified indigenes of the area by the Orient Petroleum just as he asked the oil company to observe international best practices in the environment management of the inland basin as crude oil production commences, bearing in mind that the host communities in Uzo-Uwani LGA are predominantly fishermen and rice farmers.

@nduchucks sure,i have edited the title. Now down to the matter.
According to emeka anyaoku, the exploration work i put some of its pic above have yielded 3D seismic data or whateva. That and other remarks by the governor yesterday at the site proves there is oil there. You can recheck the Sun News report. Now it is worthy to note that they were careful not to mention my community yesterday, but rather aguleri otu(a farming camp settlement of aguleri people on my communal land). Prior to the sun news report of the visit, i was informed on friday that governor obi came on an impromptu visit to the site. They didnt notify the community of the visit.

more pics.
I ask,is it too much to ask for Environmental impact study? I ask this for those who misunderstand me on this. The refinery site host communities have this already, compensation and CSR agreements too. I believe the principal funders of the company, chinese nexim bank who commited more than $600 million into this venture got them capable enough to undertake environmental impact assesment at least.
For those who keep saying 'they found oil in your place', the oil block wells have been explored b4 the civil war by a foreign company, though i dont know the extent of the activity, but a lot of their facilities abandoned during the war are still there. A mechanised transport medium accross the anambra river, used by my townsmen and the exploration company currently is still working.

i will attach pics of exploration activities i personally took when i went for xmas at the villa. The location of the pic shots is their base in the community.
Mind you,at the time of taking these pics, the refinery host communities have been approached by orient petroleum(which is still rumoured anambra state govt has stakes in) and CSR,compensation and every other company/host community agreements reached.
Even as they have not extraced crude oil, we need a full Environmental Impact Assesment on the sites, not so far from Anambra river, major springs, our rice farms and fishing ponds. Any pollution would affect my people's lives for a long time.

i admit i hurriedly put this up in fast reaction to the yesterday's event, but i emphasize my point and wont still retrace on it. They really have to carry all along, which they have so far not shown any plans of. The oil exploration is taking place right now in the farms and residences of my people, comon guys! I solicited for advice, not insults. There is no fighting here. We accomodated them since last year without even asking what they were doing in our farms and land. Their wires are connected all over the town, with sensors dug into the ground in people's compounds. Yet they have been protecting their exploration wires and equipment. My people even house the workers, some for free!
We are not bringing any fight between both governments but however wish the needful be done. Several complaints have been sent to the non chalant enugu state government.
Meanwhile,@Nduchu thanks for the map, even as i try much to laugh your language and that of others off. Anyway this is nairaland, and i have been here since 2006 to know too well.
I will appreciate more advice though. Meanwhile,i dont know how i look jobless to some pathetic people above here. My responsibility to the plight of my people shouldnt be taken for that too. I came here to get advice and info,i believe i would. Thanks.
