bamosagie:

I spent nine years in Makurdi, though I never enjoyed the benefit of having intercourse with another man's wife, I know that such culture exist.
Only it is not WIDELY practiced anymore.
You spent 9 years good. Did you ever get such an offer? How did you arrive at the conclusion that the culture exist and is not widely practised?
Culture / Re: 7 Facts About The North by Ngutor(m): 8:12pm On Feb 09
indoorlove: Oga, if you said the tradition is no longer practise again, u would have made more sense than outrightly denied it was ever practised. I was in Benue for a visit around 1996 or thereabout and believe me, this act was practised before my very eye. Pls dont ask me if i live with them, they were my neigbour and one of their son who was my friend told me there was nothing wrong with it.
Sir I think you have a problem with comprehension/understanding. But I would prefer you throw more light. When you say you "it was practised before my very eye" what do you mean? That you were offered someones wife or someones wife was offered to someone and you witnessed them being intimate? What do you mean when you say Benue? I remember meeting a guy during NYSC who said the first time he heard of Yobe was when he got his posting and another girl that could not tell the capital of Yobe when in camp.
Culture / Re: 7 Facts About The North by Ngutor(m): 1:47pm On Feb 09
It is good that the op labeled those 7 things facts and not truths. Someone once argued that that all truths are facts but not all facts are truths, but thats talk for another day.
Speaking as a tiv man I would say the op is uninformed or being mischievous. You can try to inquire from those that served (NYSC) in Benue state, perhaps they will give you a little insight of how many peoples wives they were offered to make thier 1year stay worth the while.
PLEASE we should not just write things because we have access to a device and internet, we should write to share accurate knowledge that would enlighten minds

Politics / Re: British Politician Chides Nigerian Press For Their Negativity by Ngutor(m): 6:09am On Dec 03, 2012
Ikengawo: Someone who is using a personal computer is talking about a jeopordized economy. I left Nigeria in 1995. Nobody had a computer. Nobody had a phone. You're talking about bad signal today, when I was living in Nigeria there was no such a thing a signal unless you worked for the government. If you wanted a message relayed you would send someone on an errand like in the stone age.

I remember kids trying to fight me and my siblings because we had socks. Everyone was skinning and weak, people could legitimately die of hungry. In todays nigeria that's not possible. Everything that's in the west is in Nigeria, except in an inferior quality but once upon a time non of those things were anywhere close to Nigeria.

If i say any of these things Nigerians, being so negative and hateful will get on their laptop, or their blackberry and start attacking me, telling me they're poor and suffering. Nigerians are just negative. Only whites can see the progress and growth potential and that's why they're buying up the country and making money.
Oga I think you should check your calender and revise some your sweeping statements. Except..

Family / Re: Unemployed Man Marrying An Unemployed Woman; Your Take? by Ngutor(m): 3:17pm On Nov 29, 2012
I think you have to first define what is unemployed and distinguish between wedding and marriage. It is sad to see many adults wait for someone to hand them a 9 to 5 schedule for them to see themselves as emplopyed and successful. What happens if they both loose them jobs after the marriage? Know of a couple(former bankers) guy lost his job a week after the wedding, lady a month later. Two years on and they dont have the 9 to 5 schedule yet. So what do they do? Break up or brace up?
Some people comenting have never been married so they dont have an idea of what it is.Truth be told, they type of person you wanted to marry when you were twenty will change when you get to thirty, due to exsisting realities, changing priorities and clearer insight.
What should be important is the direction, effort, ability to have a means of existence.
Just my thought and in no way indisputable.

Politics / Re: Sanusi To FG: Sack 50% Of Civil Servants by Ngutor(m): 11:02am On Nov 28, 2012
He may have his opinions but on the issue of sacking 50% of civil service as cost saving is a diabolical fallacy. For a man who drives around with 5cars at government expense, for guy who created new positions in the CBN, for a guy with a robust number of aides, for a country without any welfare system, for country without a functional pension scheme, for a country without basic amenities? What percentage of the population are civil servants? What percentage of the population are dependants? So many questions. The main problem is at the top, of which Sanusi is a 'top-active' member and religiously contributing to the wastages. I stand to be corrected but, the cost of maintaining levels 1 to 15 is significantly less than what it takes to maintain 16 and above including permanent secs and commissioners/ministers. The perks at the higher levels are only limited by the avarice of the holder of that position. Ask Sanusi one on one and he will confirm it

Ikenna351: My OBD II Scanner i ordered arrived this morning from UK ( thanks to Siena).

I would advised everyone, Peugeot owners ,to have a personal OBD II scanner. It will save you from Nigerian mechanics and re-wires nightmares.

Ikenna
Ikenna sir. Your knowledge of the lion warms the heart. Grew up with one; 504 GL. Please how much will the scanner cost at landing?
Which 2003 406 will you recommend? Will appreciate your response as usual.

Car Talk / Re: New Or Tokunboh Car Parts: Which Do You Prefer? by Ngutor(m): 11:26am On Oct 02, 2012
pannyman: There are still a few decent spare parts shops around. That's the beauty of Nigeria-in the midst of the rot you still find some reason for cheer once in a while.

There is this guy i discovered in Port Harcourt at the spare parts area called Ikoku. It was while i was looking for air-fuel sensors for my car and had almost given up that somebody directed me to him. His name is Amaechi and he even has an internet connection in his air conditioned shop and orders parts from the US.
We seriously need guys like this to bail us out
