Why the hating, let's all calm down a second and take a breadth. Igbo or Edo or whatever tribe, it's the same air that we all inhale and no matter what we do about it, there will always be vice in the society irrespective of the particular geographic location. Mohadana my brother, please let them be, they were not aware that they were touching on raw nerves by the postb but you have beat them enough.

Most of these guys here are either less informed or are just unreasoning, and thank goodness that most of the things said here in this thread are not the true reflection of the average Nigerian mind. Make una no fear, Nigeria is still one, we just need to change some peoples way of thinking towards the good and the positive.

The poster knew what he was doing when he created this thread. I know him to be a smart guy who understands how things work here on Nairaland. It was just an excuse to throw the entire State of Edo into the drain. Well he made a big mistake. he didn't consider that his tribe as well is being chased around with negative prejudices. At least we are accused of being just prostitutes while you are 419s, drug dealers, ritualists and many more.
I'd really like to know what he thought he was doing. I can't believe he is so callous!
i did not create this thread for some people to think i am against Bini people or whatever! rather to shed light on what is going on and at the same time trying to understand why there are too many of them. 419, rituals, drugs and whatever is a national phenomenon in naija, all tribes do 419 and rituals and whatever. the Igbo might be more successful in all this but i assure you that all these things are our national hobby, love it or hate it why are we not condemning all this forced prostitution this girls are suffering? i have watched documentaries here in spain made in Bini about how they go to the shrines for their rituals before coming to Europe and how their families sell them for peanuts to the mafia to exploit my question was is it a culture? i want an answer and not sentimental posts to defend a tribe because the poster happens to be igbo and his people also do bad things and for me being so callous: i will simply put it like this if i did not post this topic then i am very insensitive and unsympathetic to the sufferings of all these girls |

can you define infrastructure? Igbos are in Lagos,Lagos is naijas commercial nerve center and we are business men. Igbos are in all nooks and crannies of Nigeria,that is our nature,risk takers and go getters. We find a business any and everywhere. We will even sell you guys your fishing nets and buy the fishes from you when you return from casting the nets. The Igboman is a big blessing in Naija. All those luxurious buses,911 lorries carrying foodstuff all over Naija. The day my aunt took me to an interior market in Kano and I saw where they buy peppers and transport them all over Naija,I was impressed. Igbos live and go to areas of Naija that no other group can go to in search of business. That does not mean other Nigerians are unambitious but that is not their nature. They prefer to be in their own areas,we are uninhibited and live anywhere. Come to South Carolina and see the market where Igbos buy all those second hand goods you enjoy in PH and everywhere else.
I have seen it and only wish I had the money to buy me a shipload too.

Girl trafficking to Italy made national and international news and nobody denies that Edo State was the main area these girls were coming from because the pimps who got into this international ring happened to concentrate there. That is not to say that if a pimp came recruiting Igbo or Yorubas girls,the willing ones will not say yes. Poverty,which is the main reason women go into prostitution is not limited to Edo state. There are prostitutes everywhere and from every tribe.Even the Bible had accounts of prostitutes. many of these girls got into prostitution by tricks. Some were told they were given a job and when they got there they were forced and threatened into prostitution. Who we need to fight are these Nigerian pimps that take advantage of these young women. I don't think prostitution is promoted in any place including edo state,the first ladies spoke and fought against it. Greed is a great evil and poverty is even a greater evil. |

ogidi,We heard it takes about 10,000 to put a container together. I am not a born business woman so I'm afraid of losing money. But the guys I met doing it, live very modest lives here in the states but the mansions they have in Naija speak for themselves. The ones we met have their families in Naija and shuttle between Naija and America. South Carolina has some big flea markets where you can buy anything including mohadana |
