@Arsenal

The vehicle with VIN 5N1ED28Y3YC531294 is a Nissan Xterra. 3.3L V6 full time 4WD and manufactured on the 17th of Sept, 1999.  Sold on the 30th of Oct, 99 on a 7 year lease/payment plan (Woodbury Nissan NJ).  Truck was overdriven (excessively for its drive train) each year until the 31th of Dec 2004 where no records were known at 90763 miles.  Maintenance on this vehicle was simply lube and brake job.  Vehicle was never sold by the initial owner.

Vehicle history resurfaces (New Jersey, Motor Vehicle Dept, Marlton, NJ)  on the 24th of May 2007 with a new owner at 130,400 miles.  Vehicle was sold at an auction at 130,522 miles and was then registered as a dealer vehicle.  I won't go to further in detail but avoid this vehicle.

There is a three year unaccounted period to this vehicle.  It was never sold nor traded in by the original owner.  I guess somebody might have an explanation to this but not me.

Respectfully.

Bro,
I will advise u that as long as your suv runs and everything is fine with it do not bother your self. There are reasons for unacconted years on a carfax report i.e vehicle report .One is that the vehicle may be garaged not used at all for the period unaccounted for.Another reason is that service may be done locally. There are tens of  other reasons.

the SUV is running fine but one  thing for sure is that the odo meter has been tampered with ,  the reading was around 31,000 miles when i got it last month ,  so i guess it is missing a 1 in front .

Certainly,

2000 Toyota Camry CE/LE/XLE, 16V 4 door FWD.  Purchased in 2000 as a corporate lease in North Carolina.  Moderately driven and finally paid off in 2004.  Vehicle was traded on the 26 of Feb 2007 and currently sits on the dealers lot.  It was registered in Dec of 07 with 99,822 miles on it.  Vehicle has a clean record and vehicle was dealer maintained.

Garaged at approx. 90,000 miles and the next thing is it's registered at 131,000 miles.  40,000 unaccounted miles.  In Texas, except it in your own property, you cannot have a car sitting unregistered.  By law, you have 30 days to have it registered or it's considered abandoned.  There are 4 states that don't abide by this.  You don't park a car for 3 years.

To access the onboard system and rolling back the odometer is an intentional motive.  Bypassing prompts and security check is conscious move.  Rolling it back a 100,000 isn't for the customer's benefit and that is illegal.

If the vehicle runs fine, that good but be prepared for a 140,000 mile service.

I know what it means buying a lemon.  You cannot sell it and equivalanet to putting your money in the furnace.  4 years ago, I bought a car that happened to be a lemon and salvaged.  The person that sold it to me gave theimpression that he was leaving and he sold that car to me above market price because it was loaded.  I started having problems the third day.  Worse, I couldn't register the vehicle.  The department told me it was a salvaged vehicle and was not lawful to ply on Louisiana roads.  It was on its second rebuilt title.  It wasn't right to sell it so I had it crushed and bought a certified Camry.  When it comes to money, some people go "some" length.

4T1GB22K3XU394056 is an invalid VIN, however I came up with 4T1BG22K3XU394056.  It's a Toyota Camry '98 for 1999.  Bought by corporate lease and paid off and sold on the 13th of November.  A new owner within a month and wrecks it on two different occassions.  The 7th of March 2007 by DMV, moderate accident with another vehicle (rear).  The vehicle was bought on the 3rd of April and on the 18th, had a total loss.  It was marked total loss and the state of Georgia declared it a salvaged vehicle and green in colour.

The 9th of July, 2007, the vehicle was exported to Ghana and I guess it is where you see it.

It may not be your VIN, check your VIN and let me what's up.  If you bought this, you are in Lagos.  Fight it!

I'm really sorry to hear that.  Non-repairable, in some states, not safe to be driven on US. roads.  Cost to restore to manuf. standard exceed the vehicle's value and sometimes manufacturing cost.  The car's structure and maybe frame is weak.

You are going to have ask the rest of the forum.

Shenny, I suppose you knew that this car had such a high mileage before you bought it. It was driven for 22,000+ miles per year - this means that it was used for commuting. Highway mileage is not quite as bad on a car as driving within the city. This 211,744 miles may very well be equivalent to a normally driven car that has 100,000 to 130,000 miles on it. Good luck.

Check out this post http://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-106764.0.html if you are in the market to buy. I have a nice 2002 Nissan Pathfinder LE available.

Cheers

Doesn't necessarily mean it's bad as high in mileage.  What it details is that there are going to be a lot more repairs to be done and more details to attention (mounts, subframe-mounts etc) replaced.  I want to believe Maryland is a big city.
