Inconsistent odometer reading means that the mileage was rolled back or incorrectly reported due to clerical error

That does not mean that the vehicle was not properly repaired. Have a trusted mechanic and body shop inspect it for you and if you are told that the car is structurally sound and mechanically adequate, you'D probably get some more mileage out of it,

If I were to guess from the vehicle's records, the true mileage will probably be approaching 180K - 200k. I'D also plan for a major engine and/or transmission repair in the near future.

Mind you, this is all subjective on my part.  As they say, shine your eyes well well.  As a general rule, I tell my friends never to buy a car with Savage title unless they can verify that the vehicle was properly repaired.

I would love to check it for you but my subscription ended yesterday (the 7th).  I will resubscribe in the next month-and-a half for anther two months and this time will be a lot comprehensive than CARFAX.

I don't know the taxes in New York but New York cars don't have value as Texas does.  You get more for your money buying from Texas.  The state realised they were loosing revenue off private sellers so whatever price you purchase from a private seller, you still pay the tax worth the resale value.  It is otherwise when you purchase it through the dealer.

[New York] - I suggest you don't buy the car at $5000 and then pay taxes.  Talk the dealer that all you are going to pay would be 5000 and it would include change of title and registration and other misc. fees.  That's how I bought my last car.  In otherwords, 5000 for exchange of vehicle ownership.  The dealer does his homework and the rest becomes his money.  The dealer that refuses to this isn't ready to feed himself.  Look for somebody else. 

Some people are stubborn but you'D find someone that will work something out for you.  Your best bet will be Texas.  It doesn't snow here and the cars car highway driven.

It is clear you haven't bought a new car.  When you fill out the order and the necessary paper work you expect the right thing to be done.  You wouldn't buy a Toyota and then they ship a right-hand drive assembly or black cell radiator to your house of residence after waiting 6 to 8 months (depending on the model).  A car designed for Mexico or Arizona is not the same as a car to be driven in Lagos.  Cars driven for Nigerian or African climate are built to run cooler.  Different materials are used - f.instance upholstery glue; you'D never see interior ceiling bubbling.  They usually have bigger radiators and definitely not suspension with bags in them.  You don't order a car and then it is equipped with a limited slip differential - it doesn't snow in Lagos

FYI, Toyota will assemble a vehicle for use in Nigeria with the necessary options you can have.  You just need to specify where the car would be driven so that the appropriate package can be fitted.  Houston is almost twice as hot as Nigeria, yet American cars are not as good to ply Lagos roads. 

If Toyota decides not to PLANT with us, it is because we made that choice with the appropriate conditions not to.  If we can allow Shell and Mobil business with us, what stops automotive companies?  There is no gain in that market so the government resorts to the bigger catch.
