weelll, its true that the salary was restructured. the bottom line is that the annual pay is still the same but the monthly pay reduced hence personal budget seriously affected.
the reduction in monthly payment, has actually been transfered to productivity bonus, hence if you don't score A you get that bonus reduced instead of an assured income per year.
Zenith is still cool

@BENALA. Zenith securities is really good prior to some tool upgrade. They use the Symbols stock broking software which is excellent. You can raise buy and sell mandates on-line. They get executed immediately on the next trading session once there are buyers or sellers for the stock. The only weakness they had from time is they are not that prompt in crediting the stockbroking account once you issue a check. But are very prompt in clearing your check. I believe the delay here is the manual human interface. I hope this helps.

What happened in Zenith is not new to this environment especially in the banking sector. The Executive mamangement team seem to forget that people plan based on their salaries and any reduction affects so many things and many people.
What Management should do is to sensitise staff of what could happen in the next 3-6mths. i.e. both posive and or negative, whenever salary cuts or staff reduction are planned and they should not be carried out at such crutial months as December or January.
There is a bank that lays off staff in the first week of November, at least its been done 2 years running now. Irrespective of the fact that your appraisal during the year is excellent or very good and you had no queries or suspension. The layoff is most insensitive in that you are called or sent an email (Its so bad that if you are sent mail immediately you read the mail and close it you have no access to internal mails again, if you were told verbally you would have had no access to your mails etc from the morning when you come in) and informed that the bank no longer requires your services and you should write a letter of resignation. If you refuse, I guess they could make life difficult for you that you will eventually resign or get sacked somehow, but I don't think anyone has had the guts not to resign. The sad thing is that after that they go through another bout of recruitment.
I believe our banks should treat their staff better. After all without either staff or customes the banks would not exist. Also banks should stop this overpayment in salaries. They should pay what is sustainable, to keep more people employed.

ZENITH BANK IN 24 MONTH MESS WITH T24
Zenith Bank as at last month was in a state of great disorder due to failure in their system upgrade. News has it that the Information & Technology team at Zenith sent emails to customers on the 28 November, 2007 assuring an upgrade to the T24 banking system from Temenos, whose implementation had since 24months been in a deplorable state at the bank.
There was pandemonium in the banking halls as the new software was not debiting accounts as at first week of December. The Emirates airline which Zenith services, was thrown into a state of intense desperation and a rival bank has moved very quickly to Dubai to take over the business. To worsen the already bad situation, T24 which claims that it has no end-of-day processing runs end of day for four or more hours. Arik was also having problems with them.
Our sources had it that Zenith switched back to the Phoenix Banking System on Monday 10th December, which it had implemented in 1999 after only four months attempt and which had remained unwavering. Stakeholders are having difficulty understanding how Zenith with its hundreds of IT staff could not pull this much glorified technology through in over two years.
A confirmatory statement from Zenith staff has it that the reversion to Phoenix is to dodge trying something new while the IPO is on. But the IPO was already on before 3rd December when the T24 cutover was tried unsuccessfully. This is a case of escaping bad publicity and doubtful speculations about decision making at Zenith.
T24 had been selected after a ‘thorough’ evaluation involving Equinox from Neptune, Flexcube from Iflex, and Finnacle from Infosys. At the period of selection, T24 was alleged to be the most technically advanced banking system available, which makes the other evaluated systems look like labor-intensive systems. As it now turned out, over blown image and sensation of being a first user of a new software played a part in the evaluation with a high ranking IT staff telling our source that T24 is a monster.

Having sat down to consider the events of the last few weeks on this forum as regards what the bank(s) have done to their employees, there's the need for this thought to be published. Is Zenith Bank turning to or (has always been a SLAVE COLONY)? It's known that a slave does not have any choice and he/she is at the mercy of his/her master. The master determines the level of the freedom that the slave enjoys, what he/she eats, where he/she goes, what he/she wears? The slave is confined to a life of perpetual hopelessness. This is what the acclaimed ZENITH BANK has turned into. The management of the organization is bent on ensuring that the staffers do not have a say in the running of the organization even though they are responsible for the huge profits that the bank has been declaring over the years. It's no news that what is happening is happening. Afterall, a PROPHET in their midst prophesied the IMMINENT WAVE and I must say with all emphasis that the prophecy is gradually coming to pass. I am still liaising with my in-house informant for the full text of the 'prophecies' as published by the 'PROPHET' and you can be rest assured that this will be made available on this forum in no distant future. The information was removed from the bank's intranet by a few psycophants amongst them. For a slave to be free from the TASK-MASTER he/she must go through a process. Watch out on this channel!

As promised. I have pasted below the information as sent to me by one of the staffers. I believe the last is yet to be heard about the debacle in zenith bank.
This is the Part One. Part Two follows immediately. Dear JO, It's with great grief of heart that I decided to send this mail to you on the behalf of a host of others who are been oppressed and suppressed in the system. Unfortunately though, none has been able to voice out the emotion that's been bottled up over the years. The few (management team) that should be responsible to stand out for the numerous will not fight for the cause of the common man so far their interests are adequately covered. I have decided to highlight the following issues because it cut across the entire system which is currently facing an imminent wave of collapse (if not curtailed). The well-being and interest of individuals are being traded on the platform of self-gain and advancement at the expense of thousands who are making things happen. Promotion: It's only in our system that rewards are not based on effort any longer but on eye-service. The recent list that was released buttressed this point. It has become a phenomenon where "monkeys dey work, baboon dey chop". Where is the integrity of management that cannot keep to its words. Few months ago, a memo was circulated that reflect a change in the entire structure. But what do we have today, the same words have been eaten up. I pity the individuals whose hopes were dashed in this exercise. I look with disdain at the caliber of people that were moved to the cadre of manager and only few merit it. I won't mention names but of course it is well known to the entire system. If others will not come out to challenge this negative trend, I decided of my own accord after a few deliberations with a caucus to take the bull by the horns. I am not a prophet of doom but I see a situation that will ultimately affect the profile of the organisation. The perception of the market is that our salaries are the best. This is very wrong because of the deceitful package which include bonus and housing allowances. Other banks pay better and the light is out and already moves are on. The entire productivity bonus should be removed from the package.
Appraisal There should be a uniform standard to measure performance. In a situation where preference is given to one arm than the other(s), you don't expect to have equity and fairplay.
Risk and Insurance On a daily basis, individuals are exposed to countless harm without an insurance policy in place. People have died while in the line of duty and there's no remembrance of them again. This brings to bear the recent collapse of one of our buildings. Even though it was suppressed from the view of the public, the truth must be spoken. If not for divine intervention, only God knows how many individuals would have been buried without any just cause. And this is because of the level of corruption in the system being perpetrated by the so-called property department. I want to make it clear here that due-process and diligence is what is required to ensure that contractors deliver as and when due and to the extent that lives will not be endangered. Management should put in place insurance policy to cover the health, risk, hazards and other dangers that the employees are faced with while in the line of duty.
Medical No doubt that we have retainerships with viable hospitals but medical allowance shlould be reviewed and unused ones should be 100% refunded. It's of note also by one of the hospitals that 80% of patients with HBP are employees of our great organization.
In conclusion, a drastic action needs to be taken to correct the trend that's gradually eating into the system. I forsee a situation where accomplishments will be a reference in history classes. We took it upon ourselves to voice out on the behalf of countless others who are being repressed in the system. Let the psycophants go to sleep. Time is up!
THE PROPHET Watch out for Part 2!
And here's the Part Two (2) Dear Sir, It's still with a great grief of heart that I wrote these few lines again to you after what seems like a year ago. I wrote then to pour out the emotion that has been bottled up in the heart of your employees seeking for expression. To my utter chagrin I understand that our 'all powerful' infotech deleted the mails from domino. And that portray to me the extent of the illusion in the system. I have for your information attached with this mail the first part of this prophecy. Here begins the second part. After careful discussion and deliberation, we(my team) decided to publish this long awaited second part as a result of the unfolding events in recent times. It has been sounded loud and clear that an imminent wave is in the offering and this great bank will be hit by it. But God forbid that it will be swept by it. We have reached an enviable height that takes wisdom, fairness, justice and equity to maintain the height otherwise, the law of diminishing returns will set in. EMPLOYEE SURVEY Our amiable head of HR spearheaded a move of sampling out the opinions of the work-force of this great institution by requesting that all employees submit their response on an online survey. This is a step in the right direction because it ought to have been a part of the system from the beginning. We are yet to see the result of this action because we know that it will bear no fruit. The powers that be will ensure that the result does not see the daylight. May the effort of this noble woman not be wasted. We strongly believe that the entries submitted are quite objective and portray the true position of things in zenith bank as of today. RECENT 'REVIEW' In as much as management in its magnanimity recently 'reviewed' the take home pay that cannot take the workforce home as it usually does yearly, the entire staff are highly disgruntled. This is because as of today infact for the last one year, our great bank that used to delight itself as the 'highest' paying bank in the country has been relegated to the background because of the selfish tendencies of a few. It's no news that other competition today pays better and with conducive atmosphere to match. An average zenith staff today is nothing but a slave working to enrich the pockets of a few 'talibans'. An entry level staff today in some of the competition today earns what a middle level officer in zenith bank today cannot boast of. What a paradox? ALERT As of today, we decide to inform and to warn ahead because of what is about to happen. The turn-over that shall be experienced in the next couple of weeks will be unimaginable in the history of this organisation and effort must be made and earlier too, to curtail this by doing what is right and not what you feel is right. PROMOTION It's been widely reported that the panel is confused on what next step to take as a result of what is currently happening in the sector from our strong competition. In the last couple of months, we have witnessed massive resignation from many of the good hands that we boast of. And these hands are making tremendous impacts in their current pursuit with the competition. Why? If the right procedure is in place, there won't be need for panic and secret meetings when promotion period is around the corner. WELFARE It's high time management review the welfare of its members of staff. An average zenith staff hardly sleeps in his / her house. They are usually the last to leave and the first to come. And in term of profitability we are not better off than the competition because it's well known that profitability in zenith bank is not as a result of the productivity of it's work-force. Where's the room for productivity? The percentage that enjoys the fruit is far less than the percentage that ensure that the fruits keep coming. Other competitions make life sweeter and better for their workforce by ensuring that adequate incentives are in place for them. The reverse is the case here. The top 20% are responsible for the oppression of the 80%.
Sir, These are just a few of the many issues currently plaguing this great insitution. There are advisers and there are advisers. We believe so strongly that necessary actions will be taking to forestall this holocaust. This mail is available to a few persons within the organization. We do hope that this will be made available to you and that you will spare a few time to ponder on them. It must also be pointed out that there's the need to shed unnecessary weights at the top echleon. They have become liabilities and they lack capacities to drive this organization to the next level. A word is enough! THE PROPHET
