Is it only bankers that try to show off? Nigerians in general place a lot of value on material things. It doesn't matter if you are battling with debt or still borrowing money to fuel your brand new car, as long as you have one you have arrived in the eyes of naija people. We have a lot of misplaced values that is the plain truth.
@poster there is no need to worry your head. Just inculcate the right values into your life and work hard too so that other people can envy you but make sure you are not suffering in silence while deceiving people sorry yourself.

Lmao! It's AMAZING the kind of rubbish topic that make it the home page. Seriously, is there a silliness criteria or is it at the discretion of the Admin? Oh wait, what am I saying. . . it's the same thing, no? I mean the sillier it is, the more likely admin will find it Home page worthy, innit.
Okay now, let me too think of my own topics. . .
Why do Army officers wear Uniforms? Why do lawyers wear nightrobe and headnet? Why do rich people have money? Why do women wear skirts and Iro & Buba?
. . . . Oya, which one meets?
I object strongly to the statement that lawyers wear nightrobes and headnet. Its called a wig and gown and you stole our after court dressing of wearing suits all day (oK Minus the charge and bail ones sha), lol I like bankers. I love the flamboyance and i love when they are silently swearing for their ogas when they reduce their salaries and expect them to make targets that even yaradua cant make, lol At least it brings back the middle class efizzi that was missing for a while. The only snag is that i cant date a banker lady. They are extremely beautiful (at least most of them are) but the odd hours they have to work gets on my nerves and the more you make money, the more yor demand grows especially for irrelevant things. And the loans!!! (No comment)

Please, this is a forum where you can post any topic that catches your fancy. No need to insult anyone.
Like a poster said its all effizzi. In the telecomms industry, they do no make noise like bankers, yet there is more cash in their system. In one of the GSM companies, the Chief Technical Officer controls a budget of more than $600m(N72billion) per annum and he is just like the guy next door, also the capital side of MTN'S BALANCE SHEET is bigger than that of all the 24banks put together and the MD/CEO does not go in convoy. But have u seen Tony Elumelu(UBA) or Jim Ovia(Zenith) at the Intenational Airport? U will think its a Governor or Senate President that is tavelling.
But bankers need the showmanship cos its all part of marketing. I an not sure I will put my money in a bank, where the tellers look like underpaid and overworked Edo state civil servants. Or in a bank where the Aircon is not working and instead of a water dispenser they put pure water sachets in a tray in the middle of the banking hall.

Do you see ladies Bankers in hot mini skirts? My o My. I see nothing wrong in being flashy as long as you have the right attitude. Flambouyance is a personal thing, and every opne is free to do as he pleases. But it would be foolish to live above one's income. . Secondly, i Thinki its the nature of the job that determines how the banker dresses. bankers aree corporate people, so its understandable if the look sharp. In other words, they are marketing their brands. But oil companies are different. You can wear jeans to work, it doesnt matter. I think i like their style

I don't think banks in nigeria will b able to get the customers they want if they don't portray themselves the way they r doing. Besides we all know that it's all a mere facade; cos i've got a couple of friends in d bank who r always complaining. Why do u think that the least faithful employees to their employers r d bankers?

Am a middle management staff of a new generation bank in Nigeria. well i don't see anything wrong with dressing well. abi you want to to see us like those old union bank staff. well the truth is that banks in Nigeria pay well and infact a friend of mine in a consulting firm told me that there is research conducted where it was agreed that banker earn better that even oil worker their reason is because in the oil industry when you are employed as an entry level staff you will start well with like 5M but you can remain on that scale for 5 years if your in the bank and on an average lane you will be an SBO or AM where you can earn above that. The banking industry in Nigeria is thriving well because there is oil boom and what makes me sad is that these monies are in the hands of few and it hardly tricks to the real sector that actually grows the economy and one other thing that make me sad these days is the promos banks do in Nigeria haba banking is soppose to be a conservative profession like medicine or Law but are now asking people to open account and win generator or Okada haba like indomie or Maggi seller well i don't have a choice for now but that is really disappointing but i like the carriage we have and the KUZA

Nigerian Bankers are tax evaders!!! Fraud Masterminds!!! The biggest Scammers in the world. All of them
First they devide their income into pieces so that government will not tax them: They have basic salary seperate which is less than 1/5 of their income thats d one government tax. Then they have housing allowance, then they have medical allowanc and they have maintenance allowance. These are non taxable. Which is not suppose to be according to FIRS regulation. But they dont declare that to FIRS. I worked for one of the new generation in Nigeria and I know what they do. They are defrauding the government.
They also dont give their shareholders anything. The proportion of the income of the bank to the salary of the staff and the devidends given to share holders is just not a fair bargain. Government have to look deep into their business b4 something bad happen to Nigerian economy

Hey quys,
Let's face the facts.we are in a free society which free information and respect for individual opinion rules.
The poster made a post airing his views about our bankers and their attitudes to customers whobring the money that pays their salary and rather than critically digesting and discussing the points raised. Its being attacks on him, calling him all manner of names which is unethical in all manner of ways(I stand to corrected).
He talked about the non-conservative life style of our bankers in comparison to what is obtainable in the EU countries.Instead of encouraging his view point,we are telling that ''if you beat them, join them",unknowingly marketing our mentality and the level of our financial manageability to the outside world.
We will remember,Prof C.Soludo that what we have before are nothing but cash centers. Not minding the many mergers and acquisitions that gave birth to the 25 banks that we have now.None is the first 200 banks in the world. Our banks are still very far from being what a bank should be and do in a growing economy like ours.
I'm gonna stop 'cos I getting mad

My problem is not what they have or buy but the kind of attitude most of them exhibit while on duty. They see you as nobody more especially when you come to deposit small amount. The word ethics and moral should be their every day subject.

In Nigeria Bankers have made house rent, food and even clothes to be expensive. Lanlords like giving their houses to only bankers, because bankers can aford to pay any amount they are ask to pay. Nigeria is a very funny country, that is why the banks are waxing and growing everyday while manufacturing industries are collapsing. Have you tried to find out why?
