Geologists Wanted

ERIN MINERAL RESOURCES, an Abuja based subsidiary of an international minerals exploration company operating in Nigeria, requires the services of a number of geologists to participate in an intensive exploration program on several properties in northern and western Nigeria, commencing February 2008. On-the-job training will be conducted in the many aspects of mineral exploration, both in the field and on computer.

It would be advantegeous if applicants have the following:
- willingness to learn
- ability to work individually and in a team
- organisational capacity to manage programs
- basic computer literacy (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, e-mail, internet)
- knowledge of GIS software (e.g. MapInfo) and digitising
- knowledge of relational databases (e.g. MS Access)
- Capacity to work long hours when required
- Ability to log drill core and chip samples
- knowledge about how to conduct stream sediment and soil sampling
- surveying skills (e.g. use of GPS, tape and compass)
- good communication skills, good English and either Hausa or Yoruba
- like travelling and being away from home for a while
- enthusiasm for exploration
- driver's licence
