Anyone who says the N82 is ugly hasnt seen it before. I got the phone two weeks ago. The front silver finishing makes it look that way in pictures. when you hold it, it actually feels so solid (no feelings of assembly issues like the N95). Moreso, how dare you compare it with N70? It can't even be compared to the N81 which was announced this August. The N82 is basically N95 in an N73 form factor. With added features like Assisted-GPS out of the box (as opposed to getting it via firmware upgrades on N95), Xenon flash (first Nseries to feature that), etc. N82 and N95 have a built in accelerometer that detects the phone's position relative to the ground. This accelerometer has its APIs so developers can utilize it in their applications. Examples of whre this can be applied is unlimited. eg, on my N82, the screen autorotates in almost every application from portrait to landscape mode depending on how i hold it. Another use of the accelerometer is in conjunction with the built in GPS - Nokia created an application called Sports Tracker (N82 and N95 only). Check one of my strolls here, recorded by the phone and uploaded to their service. http://sportstracker.nokia.com/nts/workoutdetail/index.do?id=23319. You can open it, download the KML file and view in google earth to see the real thing. THat was on some street off Allen Avenue. It's got WIFI. This is really no news tho as its present on the N95 as well. RAM is in excess and personally, I havent had a reason to restart the phone since I got it. That's because applications 'rarely' crash. No user worldwide has reported an 'out of memory' error - referring to the RAM o! The camera is about the best on an Nseries right now - yea, because of the xenon flash. K850i too got a 5MP camera with Xenon flash but on a photo shootout, N82's pictures come out lots brighter, because of the bug in K850i where the flash doesnt sync accurately enough with the shutter. For those saying this phone is ugly, you probably should visit Nokia Store and get a hands-on experience and see if you wont change your views. If you're that much fashion consious, you shldnt be using an Nseries anyway . Its arguably Nokia's best Nseries till date according to numerous mobile bloggers like this one below I've talked a lot about the N82 recently, but it really does deserve all the good press it gets, it simply is one of the best, if not the best, NSeries phone to date. http://nseries-mobile/2007/12/nokia-launches-n82-with-free-adventure.htmlI even started my own n82-centric blog on http://n82blog.wordpress.com .

I use the N95.It is a wonderful phone as I get to use it for my dayly browing, messaging, watching TV and slinging. It has it's downs- 1.Mine crashed often 2.The battery life is low
Other than that a very good phone. But then newer products like the LG Qwerty are a beauty to behold. And they come much cheaper!

you obviously don't knw what i mean by crashing. I mean 'hanging' (application crashes, not hardware crashes.) . . .i.e. not necessarily requiring a flashing tho. I never flashed my old N70 as well. But I can tell anyone out there that its the most unstable Nseries phone out there. And heck, 128MB of RAM is a whole lot for a phone ( lol, Nokia calls is a multimedia computer anyway ). . . that on its own is an add on. Now, coming to fashion, the N95 classic and N95_8GB are elegant phones, not beautiful phones. Think Apple iPhone and most Samsung handsets if you want beauty. While the N70 has a terribly fugly design . Compare it with the N73 and think again. @ naijafan You toke those words right out of my butt thank God for you o, But Please how much did u get your N82 am getting mine immediately the music edition is released. I guess the price shld go down after this festive period. . . i couldnt wait to get mine anyway. lol by the way, hw much will your N73 go for? A friend of mine is interested.

@naijafan maybe u need to know dt my phone got d latest firmware so no crashes at all.let me reiterate that if i'm offered that ugly device (N82) for free i will sell it off immediately. The RAM issue has been fixed with the latest N95 firmware which now gives the phone about 100MB RAM coupled with demand paging features and according to Sandisk it now supports 8GB SDHC,until Nokia manufactures a worthy successor N95 rules the market,if u want to compare N82 with any phone then it got its rival the K850.

@bimbor. if you're offered that 'ugly' N82, you'll realise that pictures can be decieving. That's all i can say about that. All features added with the latest firmware upgrade to N95 comes by default in the N82-1. So what are you asking for? Its got the second fastest ARM processor in an Nseries device (ARM 11 332 MHz), same with the N95 closely following N81 at 369MHz. guy, check http://web.nseries.com/truestories/. Even mobile reviewers have noted that its positioned to succeed the N95 and take over from the N73 as the most successful Nseries device. Honestly, the only arguable reason to choose the N95 over the N82 is if bigger screens take priority over brighter images. Nothing else! If you get to the technicalities, N95 uses GPRS class 10 (32-48kbps) while N82 uses GPRS Class 32 (107kbps). And the N82 lacks an infrared port. If your choice is determined by factors outside these, then it becomes a case of candybar vs slide or simply some affection for design. And you can be sure those reasons are simply personal views and stop at that. Did i hear you say you want to compare it wit k850 Even P1i isnt a rival

I wonder why gsmarena.com compared our N82 and some k850i (not even P1i) side by side (shit happens) That's because k850i is sony ericsson's best camphone with a xenon flash while the N82 is Nokia's first Nseries with a xenon flash. They were simply comparing the cameras. . . SE lost ( dull images), despite their supposed xenon experience

@ naijafan Stop taking words out of my butt as per that your request, send me an email to infoyedo@gmail.com so we can negotiate my selling price Note I already did a firm work upgrade on the phone Plus lot of songs on the memory card and all application u culd ever need. (All applications are registered) @ bimbor Gsmarena.com makes hell of mistakes sometimes imagine them saying N73 came with a 64MB memory card which isn't true. The ordinary N73 came with 1 GB while the music edition came with a 2 GB ( abi na something ) @ imaibehe The hottest currently is N82 don't go for N95 o, it waste of money

If you want to have great quality camera and good video recording (VGA) go for N82 plus you have GPS, WIFI, 3.5 mm audio output jack, TV out, bigger screen and many more features ( yet to be discovered) Just the first release comes with a 2Gb memory i wonder what the music edition will give birth to ( let await technology) The K850i has almost nothing to offer except if you want to have great quality camera and good video recording only. So Go for N82 for more options

Very well then, since u guys r so crazy about this phone i think i'll need to see it before i make my final comments but i still doubt if i'll accept it as a successor to the present king (Multimedia 95) because as far as i'm concerned the heir is still unborn! To all ye N82 fans be ready to chill for another one year before u start getting nice third party applications for your handheld bearing in mind dt its a v9.2 symbian. Another bad side about d phone is d keypad d buttons r too tiny. @info that must have been a typo GSM Arena tries when it comes mobile phone reviews and analysis.

@ bimbor There's no comparison to make between the all-in-one N82 and the simple crappy K850! Agreed? say it louder yes got ya @ naijafan About the NAND memory and the Internal memory of N82, say if you want to save a file or pic in to the phone and when u save it into Phone memory, which memory the file goes to, the NAND or the Internal memory? What a beauty to hold, it even a 3.5G phone

@infobabait goes to the internal one. yet to find out what the NAND does. . . @bimborsince the device uses the exact operating system and UI with the N95, it runs N95 applications. . . even installs N95 themes. as i said, they both share almost everythn in common. yes, the keys are tiny. . . but funny enough, easy to use. Altho honestly, i'd have preferred the n95 or n73 keys

@infobabayou knw, now that's where personal preferences come into play - referring to the keypad. That's what i was trying to point out to bimbor @jassieyea, i got it for 75k as infobaba said. where ? I really don't knw. there's a guy who purchases computer related stuff for us at the office. I just placed an order and i got it. he sure knows where to get things at cheap rates but you can be sure he'll add his comission to it. except he's not a nigerian on the package tho, there's a sticker of e.tel nigeria there (a nokia's authorised distributor in nigeria). www.etelnigeria.com | 01 4611223

@info have u seen the new microSD high capacity(SDHC) Its damn small i wonder how they managed to package such huge memory size into such tiny chip. The highest available now is 16GB. @naijafan i think the NAND is a flash memory also used for storing files but since u got d phone with u why don't u explore it @tope i'll advice u chill till they release the ME but be ready to package more dough as well. I really don't like buying phones at their first release its like using a beta software there are always bugs to be fixed.

@bimbor. . . you know why you havent exhausted you 1GB? because you have just 1GB. the nand isnt accessible from the phone via any interface. that's what i mean. maybe when i get to install fexplorer, i'll find out. I only hope its not readonly . But really, accessing the memory card is as fast as the phone memory. . . users have reported fast access too on the 8GB SDHC. so wats ma fuse wit the nand anyway? lol @tope_teadr i have a problem with music editions of these type of devices. This is because the memory card slot will most likely be eliminated and the internal memory will be upped to 8GB, in N82's case, i guess 16GB is more likely. . which is not actually bad. But then, you'll always envy your friend with a 32GB card on his N82-1 . That's if they don't put the internal memory at 8GB self.
