You know what? Iyke-D

The battle to move Nigeria forward should move to the Federal Executive Council. What is their use as an institution and why must they be part of the Government.

It is no doubt that as Nigerians we have a past we do not wish to remember, when it comes to leadership. So what is the very essence of keeping an association of failed leaders as the Presidential think-thank.

Whats the point having an election in this country when no matter who we vote, whether progressive or conservative, whether right-wing or left-wing; they will inherit a group of generals who failed as leaders and bent to protect their interest as advisors.

Is it not clear that our whole idea of democracy is cosmetic since we have leaders by default who will teleguide whoever is votedHuhHuh?

Ok guys, what ever makes you happy, please go for it.
But I'm telling you that the man truly did not want to contest. Going to pick up the registration form means nothing, advertising and campaigning also mean absolutely nothing.

His heart was not fully there; folks who are close to him knew this and that was the only reason the man gave way to others.

The money wasted on stopping the unstoppable ATIKU could have been spent on upgrading the election process and educating the voters.
OBJ had a great opportunity to turn things around in this country during his time, but Rabidu and his master traded the opportunity for vindictive agenda.

Instead of looking to blame IBB for this latest development, I think you guys should change direction and blame OBJ.
I wouldn't been surprised if OBJ has already stopped answering Rabidu's phone calls.

Finally, Ribadu and IBB will not appear on the same pages of our history books

If IBB is honest enough he will tell you how much he admires Ribadu's reputation which his $3b can not buy.

na wah ooo, i leave 4 a while and come back to meet this
u mean we still have nigerians who are praise singers for the devil himself, BigB i shame for you my brother, i really shame for you,
u cannot be helped, ur case is beyound redemption. even IBB himself will tell u he is the pioneer of this Nigeria, this our corrupt Nigeria,
IBB himself will tell u he wanted to come back and continue the good job he wasnt allowed to finish in 1993. and foolish u are here telling us a man who collected forms, paid for the right to contest the election, had groups touring the nation mobilizing support for him, visiting eminent people around the nation, saying with his own mouth he stepped down for his brother not willing to contest. i weak for you, u see the truth staring at u in the face but u fail to accept so how then can u appreciate a man like Nuhu Ribadu.
u come here an make baseless accusations about his person talking about his houses and foreign accounts, i repeat if u have anything on the man froma nywhere spill it, lets see it or lets hear it, tell ur brodas to make it open 4 all nigerians to see and believe me i ll be the first to say they should crucify him, but till then he is one of the few living legends we have in this country, whether he did selective judgement or investigation or not, i don't care, whetehr he used conventional methods or not i don't care, all i care about is the people who are looting our funds should be brought to book including OBJ or Ribadu himself if there is any evidence that finds him wanting

so i hope u now get the point my brother, its not just about Ribadu its about the people trying to deny innocent Nigerians their future, making them thieves, making people like us who are trying to earn a honest living even in this trying time live in fear because the country is unsafe, lawless, what else can i say

but i repeat whether u rich or u poor as long as u don't have the interest of this great nation at heart u will meet ur peril in the ruins u have created, OBJ go meet him own, if Ibori like make e go import more people who go naked 4 am come this country if he escapes this he will meet worse ahead, and all the others u cannot cause people pain and anguish and expect to get away with it.

BigB i wish u luck, and i encourage u to continue to champion the ways of evil. Justice will surely catch up with all of u,  una don dey vex me sef

I do not know why you guys continue to despise me and tarnish my great image just because of my incompressible support for IBB.
This is absurd, unfair, uncivilized, unacceptable and absolutely crazy.

This is democracy; it is absolutely OK for us to pick and choose who ever we desire under all circumstances. It is ridiculous and senseless to judge one by their selection of political candidate.

Ribadu's removal delayed by US,UK intervention.

Even though hawks within the Yar’adua kitchen cabinet have foreclosed rescind of the planned removal of EFCC Chairman Nuhu Ribadu the plot may have been put on hold, temporarily by the Umar Yar'adua government as the US and UK authorities waded in yesterday to prevent an outright removal of Ribadu by government.  The delay is issuing a statement was  so because Yar’adua contemplated that Nuhu Ribadu might see the handwriting clearly on the wall and resign both his commission in the police force and his headship of the EFCC, neither has happened as of the time of publishing this report.

Saharareporters was first to report about series of detailed plans by the regime to get rid of Nuhu Ribadu as the EFCC chairman, in an attempt to please former Governor James Ibori, a major financier of the Yar'adua presidential election.

At the latest, Ribadu’s removal was hatched in Kaduna prison at the behest of James Ibori and former governors indicted for corruption with active collaboration by Yar’adua, Governor Bukola Saraki of Kwara State, Baba Gana Kingibe and Michael Aondoakaa and lately Andy Uba whose police escorts were yanked by the IG on Christmas eve (Andy Uba was said to have found out from his sources at the EFCC that the commission had reached an advanced stage in investigations detailing corruption, money laundering and racketeering activities against him). Ibori is currently remanded in prison custody where he enjoys a luxurious lifestyle that one source described as akin to those of Colombian drug kingpins of the 1990s.

Inspector General of Police, Mike Okiro had announced that Nuhu Ribadu was proceeding to the National Institute for Policy and Strategy Studies (NIPSS), Kuru-Jos on a compulsory one-year course.

New information surfaced last night that Ribadu was nominated by the Inspector General of Police for the NIPSS course after nominations had closed. A top police officer who requested anonymity told Saharareporters that officers nominated to the NIPSS course at Kuru typically get up to six-three months notice from the IG.“It is general knowledge in the NPF that you don’t get nominated to go to Kuru without your knowledge”, insisted our source.

Also, a source close to Ribadu said the Inspector General had not informed Ribadu or any member of the board of the commission about the impending course but instead the IG wrote a backdated memo to Yar’adua seeking approval to send Ribadu to the NIPSS last week.

The source described Ribadu's nomination as a smoke screen. “The real deal behind the Inspector General's decision was James Ibori,” said the source.

Saharareporters interviewed several members of Ibori’s inner circle and other political interests involved in the plot and they admitted to our reporters that they recently stumbled on the "Kuru Option” as they sought to tame a rampaging Nuhu Ribadu from wreaking further damage on the political class. But they now express cautious optimism as they fear that Ribadu might raid all of James Ibori’s associates before his departure from the EFCC.

The EFCC had penciled down Senators Markafi, Sanni Yerima, and George Akume all former governors for arrest and prosecution in the first week of January 2008.

They also have lined up former governor of Edo State, Lucky Igbinedion (currently hiding in Europe); former governor, Peter Odili of Rivers State (said to have fled to Rome, Italy), Obong Victor Attah, formerly of Akwa Ibom and also the patriarch of the  Saraki and other family members of the Saraki family for the fraud perpetrated by the Saraki’s at the failed Societe Generale Bank of Nigeria.

The  decision to send Nuhu Ribadu to the NIPSS was taken last week at a meeting of several politicians meeting in Kaduna after they visited James Ibori in prison, and then at   Maitama area of Abuja. The decision was then consummated on Christmas eve.

Although the American and British embassies have issued no statement regarding their intervention, Saharareporters gathered that both countries were working feverishly behind the scene to prevail on Yar’adua to grant Ribadu at least a one-year deferment on his NIPSS course.

We also gathered that both the US and the UK governments were working to bring in the German Chancellor to join their efforts. The Germans have better leverage on Yar'adua since Yar’adua has been receiving medical treatment in Germany. German doctors have been managing Yar’adua’s kidney ailment.
Meanwhile a silent war may brewing within the EFCC, two camps have emerged within the agency over the replacement of Nuhu Ribadu, while civilians professionals and operatives the NFIU (the intellgence gathering arm of the EFCC) support the emergence of Akomaye as the new EFCC chairman, police operatives who make up 70% of the EFCC want one of their own to become the chairman. It is not clear who will be chosen to head the EFCC if diplomatic efforts led by the UK and US government fail to get Yar'adua tochange the decision of the IG on Nuhu Ribadu.

Whether Ribadu goes or not, Mike Okiro is in trouble

That is the price of standing against the truth.

I left Nigeria 3 months ago. Before I left, I had great expectation of our president. After reading what u guys have to say, its certain President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua is as hopeless as other pass president. To make it worse, he is a graduate.  When u c how other leaders take care of their citizens, u begin to wonder if the black man cursed. No Nigerian is happy 2 be here. Honestly we go through a lot here with the cold weather, immigration wahala, racism etc. All these leaders in Nigeria have their kids here. spending Nigerians tax payers  money foolishly.
Ribadu is a good man. He has my respect. I pray President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, former Governor James Ibori, Inspector General of Police and other thieves get same judgment like Abacha

Please stop deceiving ourselves.  no amount of pressure will change this posting.  Ribadu will attend the course.

As competent as Ribadu is, there are allot of people within the Nigerian police force who sees him as a threat and they will do whatever it takes to get him out of EFCC.

Inspector General of Police Mike Okiro’s decision to contest the Appeal Court ruling voiding the Public Order Act is causing ripples among the top echelons of the force.

A competent source in Louis Edet House, Abuja told Daily Independent in a telephone interview that some of the deputy inspectors general of police (DIGs) have told Okiro that his position is not in the best interest of the police.

"I and three of my colleagues have let him know that we are in the democratic dispensation where the tenets of the rule of law and respect for the fundamental human rights of citizens must be respected by all strata of the government and that the President has already pointed the light, when he said we would uphold the rule of law," the source said.

It was also learnt that Okiro took the decision to challenge the judgment unilaterally.

"He did not consult anybody before he made his statement public and some of us consider that as not good enough because we are all representatives of sections of this great nation and the inertest of Nigerians from each of these parts. So we feel we should have discussed this issue thoroughly before we took our final decision on it," the source added.

The antagonists’ position is that challenging the verdict would further worsen the already battered image of the police. They added that there is nothing the police as an institution would gain by fighting to protect a colonial instrument of intimidation and coercion like the Public Order Act which the British that handed it down to the country have since done away with it from their statute book.

It was learnt that following the disagreement, the last police management meeting failed to agree on whether to sanction Okiro’s plan to challenge the ruling at the Supreme Court.

Nigerians are the hardest set of people to lead. Guys, no need for emotions and sentiments. Everyone agrees that Ribadu has been contaminated in his fight against corruption. We all should watch Yaradua and Ribadu's replacement to see if the fight on corruption is discontinued. That is the only time we should call Yara names. For now, he remains the President and has powers to do what he feels is right within the ambits of the law.
Ribadu is not EFCC. EFCC has not been scrapped so i do not understand the noise.

A change of guard in the EFCC could be all we need to check allegations of corruption in the anti-corruption body. It is time the sale of Nwude's assets, forfeited to the FGN, is investigated. Yesterday it was El Rufais deeds that was busted, now Iyabo and her papa. Lets be open minded and watch the drama unfold. The real fight agaisnt corruption might soon be about to start.

u ve missed the point, nobody is insisting that its only Ribadu that can do the job, i for one wouldnt say that
but why remove a man doing a good job thats not finished for another
and if at all u want to remove him why give flimsy excuse like 1 yr training to become a better candidate for IG or whatever
the prob is the timing and the manner which now brings room 4 conspiracy theories.
so its the manner its more like forcing out a man doing a good job than the person of Ribadu himself

Lets try this other analogy is Dora the first leader of NAFDAC, or is she the only one working in NAFDAC why do people keep singing her praises? answer: because she is doing a fucking good job but that doesnt mean NAFDAC is perfect or another person cannot come and improve on it. now imagine one of Yarduas close friends is cought importing fake drugs and NAFDAC takes up the case and innocently (that is me giving the president benefit of doubt) Yardua decides to bring another person to head the agency by saying she should go to school at that very moment to learn on how to be health minister would u say DORA is not NAFDAC?Huh if yes then i rest my case

In 2003 Ribadu was a Chief Supritendant of Police. In 2007 he was made an AIG.Nigerians don't like doing things the right way and that is why Ribadu deployed tactics that were far from right. He arrested and detained Taraba House of Assembly members for 7 months because they refused to impeach their governor. He arrested Plateau house of Assembly mebers for weeks, put 6 of them in a bus and drove them to Jos to impeach Dariye. He did the same in Ekiti. We can go on and on and on.In doing the right thing we must not lose fact that it should be done the right way or else it loses it's value. We cannot continue running things like that.

Ribadu rose from CSP to AIG in four years without going to the War College and NIPSS.He does not understand that the music has changed. He should have kept his ears to the floor,to listen to the tune of the current music and dance accordingly. This is the time of rule of law.

Lets face facts, under Yaradua more big shots have been arrested unlike under OBJ.If Yaradua did not want Ibori to be arested I can assure you he would have stopped it.MAybe Yaradua is unhappy with the selective justice EFCC is metting out.I have been waiting for Ribadu to arrest Makarfi,Akume,Odili and Yerima, and before I forget,Bode George and Mrs.Akinlawon(Former Senator Obasanjo).

Tell me why anybody who takes over will do his job fearlessly and thereby put himself at risk of suffering Ribadu's faith.

Just waiting for the NASS to resume, if they don't veto this illegality by the IGP then there is no use having them. Mike Okiro will never get away with this. He more than anyone else needs to go to school to learn how to be a man.

Routing of EFCC operatives continue, another top EFCC operative, Ibrahim Lamorde, Director of Operations sent on compulsory course in Jos, Plateau State.

Saharareporters, NewYork

Routing of EFCC operatives continue, another top EFCC operative, Ibrahim Lamorde, Director of Operations sent on compulsory course in Jos, Plateau State.
The routing of top EFCC operatives from their immediate constituency, the Nigerian Police Force continued today with another police communication signal directing Lagos-based EFCC Director of Operations, Ibrahim Lamorde to proceed on a compulsory yearlong course at the Police Staff College in Jos, Plateau State.

As earlier reported by Saharareporters, politicians opposed to the anti-graft agency leadership have intensified their efforts through Yar'adua to completely emasculate the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Their first target was the agency's head, Mr. Nuhu Ribadu who was suddenly asked to proceed on a one-year course at Nigeria's Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) though the police hierarchy led by the Inspector General of Police denies any ulterior motives, the actions have exposed a trend that tallies with the plot by corrupt former governors indicted by the agency for corruption and money laundering.

"This project (emasculation of the EFCC) is a rare coming together of otherwise strange bedfellows to extinguish the anti-corruption war", said an insider at the Aso Rock Villa who maintains that the proponents of the plot have taken over the presidency.

By the latest action, Ibrahim Lamorde, an assistant commissioner of police will have to proceed to the “Senior Command Course” also known as ‘C’ course at the police staff college in Jos, Plateau State.

Just like Nuhu Ribadu, the agency head, Lamorde only knew about his impending course through colleagues in the police force. The Inspector General of Police, IG Mike Okiro nominated and approved of Lamorde’s training without contacting the subject. The ‘C’ course is billed to commence on January 14 2008.
With the successful sidelining of Nuhu Ribadu and Ibrahim Lamorde, sources said the IG’s office acting in cahoots with disgraced politicians now targets six more senior police officers within the EFCC for transfer. The EFCC is primarily dominated by police operatives who make up 70% of its roughly 1,400 staff.

Nigerians need to realize that that they've been held hostage by some group of individuals who are bent on doing things their own way, imposing their surrogates to be in power, and doing whatever they like, until an ordinary Nigerian realizes this truth and begin to systematically find a way out of their grip, the cycle continues,I heard some Military guys are already disgruntled about what is happening in Nigeria,Don't forget as Former US secretary of state for Africa once said 'Nigeria is a country where anything can happen!'We'll be waiting to see as recent events is unfolding
