The questions that is begging for answer is " Why has they(EFCC) never prosecuted ATIKU" . From one of the posts above EFCC received pertition against OBJ and Sen IYABO(since 2006) but did not do anything about that Why?. Removing him from EFCC is not enough he must be probed.

And you truly think this man understands protecting the pride of Nigeria and getting his job done at the same time. I don't think so>>>>>
Bigb1, Per your above comment, what is the "pride of Nigeria" you are referring to, could that be 419 and corruption? Please stop living in that little fantasy world of yours because Nigeria is an inconsequential nation, only known for its major exports: oil, 419, and corruption. If you don't know, ask somebody!

The coast is clear now. . . He is ready to face a soon to be non-existent probe, makes you wonder why he wasn't willing to come out in the open when Ribadu was around. I am sure Odili will be making an appearance soon too. My only prayer now is that may the the likes of MEND descend Igbinedion Returns from Morocco this Week •Ready to face probe From Richard Amayo in Benin City, 12.30.2007
Former Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbi-nedion, would return to Nigeria this week. Igbinedion had taken a flight abroad immediately after the May 29 hand-over ceremony at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City. He had since transited in a number of countries before settling down in Morocco, North Africa. THISDAY checks reve-aled that Igbinedion flew to London on Christmas Eve from his expensive holiday resort in Morocco as a prelude to his desire to return home to face investigation of his eight year tenure as the chief executive of the state.
Besides, THISDAY also gathered that Igbinedion’s planned return is a direct fall-out of what his supporters consider to be a positive development in the removal of Chairman of the Economic and Fina-ncial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. The source, which pleaded anonymity said: “the former governor is home- sick and coming to Nigeria this week to face the EFCC.”
Igbinedion a few weeks to the hand over date on May 29, visited the EFCC headquarters, Abuja in company with his father, Sir Gabriel Osawaru Igninedion, and made a comprehensive statement on the financial transanctions for the eight years he was governor of Edo State. He has, however, not been declared wanted by the EFCC.
The source also said: “Since the former governor missed his father’s 73rd birthday and his traditional Christmas and Igue festival conviviality as well as his much-cherished pleasantries with his boyhood friends, life has not been well with him.” He was last seen in public outing at the handing over ceremony to the new governor, Prof. Oser-heimen Osunbor May 29 at the Sam Ogbemudia Stadium where PDP youths attacked his car with pure water sachet and rained insults on him over the allegedly poor performance of his administration in Edo State.
First to talk of his financial recklessness was Minister of the Interior, General Godwin Abbe (rtd), who headed the transition committee that submitted a report detailing the debt profile left by Igbinedion. Osunbor came out three months after he took over to say he met an empty treasury with the indebtedness of the state put at N11 billion. Following the disclosure of an empty treasury, Osunbor had to quickly set up a probe panel to look into the financial transactions of the state government. The sale of government buildings at the Government Reservation Area (GRA) at ridiculously low prices is also being probed. The EFCC had since applied for the panel’s report from Edo State Government to enable it file more charges against the ex-governor while his case file had been okayed for prosecution.

These military boys go just dey somewhere dey laugh dey talk say: " these civilians are not serious" . If Yar'Adua dosn't clear his head by next week, we may be faced with a terrible year ahead. Either of corrupt elements and single voices getting their way or the courts decide to cancel Yar'Adua's election and we are faced with Atiku the looter as President, Jacques Chirac was right: "Democracy is a luxury Africans cannot afford". The last eight years were just a disguised dictatorship under seemingly "democratic illusions" of a ex-General who ruled us military style,

. . . . . . .OBJs misdeeds that EFCC decided to overlook.
The former President, they contended, illegally appointed himself as the Petroleum Resources Minister contrary to the 1999 Constitution and “hence, his activities in the oil industry were shrouded in secrecy and he never rendered accounts of the oil revenue to relevant agencies like the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).”
The body also alleged that “between 2000-2006, Nigeria lost over $130 billion unaccounted revenue”, adding, “for 8 years Obasanjo unilaterally withdrew over N1 trillion from the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Federation Accounts.”
Other allegations of financial crime they made against Obasanjo include: Sale of refineries to his cronies as scraps, illegal sales of NITEL, Egbin (power station), underhand deals in the privatization of ALSCON, Ajaokuta Steel Rolling Mill and Hilton Hotel.
Other allegations against the former president include contract awards for Niger Delta Integrated Power Projects and Equipment of University Teaching Hospitals by presidential fiat, sales of government houses for peanuts, the acquisition of Transcorp shares while in office.
. . . . . . . . . . . . .it's all coming back to him now.

Their alleged grouse with all this, is that he didn't open the coffers of tha nation for everybody to loot as they wished. Thief na thief but some better pass other people, no Nation is a Utopia but at least the point is that Nuhu Ribadu made it a matter of focus to catch some of these corrupt politicians, 10 of them in jail is and 2 corrupt left alone is better than leaving 12 corrupt people running amok and looting the country for themselves. In the past criminals like Ibori and Igbinedion were seen as untouchables, now they are looking for ways to return the money they stole.
And BigB should take note that Ribadu didn't make the situation of Nigeria's reputation worse by carrying his anti-corrpution crusade abroad, he made our reputation better by convincing the world that we were doing something about the whole issue of corruption and not just sitting back and paing lip-service to the whole situation. Look at our corrpution ratings by Transperency before Ribadu and during his tenure,
Rawlings in Ghana had his weak points and he did enrich himself to some degree, however he routed out the most corrupt of Ghanian politicians in his day and nowthe country is better for it. Same thing in Singapore and other countries of the world.

. . . same old song, they might as well probe everyday he was president of the country. Frankly, if you are of the opinion that Ribadu was eased out so that OBJ can be probed effectively, then you really need your head re-examined. So if the next guy for whatever reason fails to probe OBJ, he will be eased out as well? Does your president have any balls or kidneys at all? I thought the office of the AGF is there, what they don't have any one on staff that can effectively probe OBJ if they feel he is being shielded by the EFCC? Just wondering, who heads the petroleum ministry currently? Don't worry, guys like you will be singing OBJ praises in the months ahead because this guy ain't taking Nigeria no where. After he is through reversing OBJ's policies, he will re-reverse himself again.

Why do they want to give the position to the south west. Is it because they want to use that person to punish the southwest or what?? something fishe. When ever they give people something , they have their motive. When an igbo becomes INEC chairman, we know, they have decided that Igbos would not be president. Why a Yorubaman? Someone said if they want to be honest with us, they should let a man from North west be INEC chairman???

Na wah o, what are we whining about? Look, there is corruption everywhere, from USA to europe, and on other continents and of course Nigeria is no difference. Stealing and looting from public coffers is not a new thing but this rogues should invest the money at home first. if you steal your fathers money and buy a car for your younger ones, will they not love you? ( Not everyone may agree with me, anyway)
Ribadu came into EFCC for a reason and he is being "sacked" for a reason. my people, such is life. The president is a politician and he thinks politically. If Ribadu is an obstacle to him , them he has to remove him but what we as a people should do is that we should stand up for what is right and moral. Morality and Politics don't often go together.

@FBS You better shut up, there is corruption everywhere but definitely not on the scale of Nigeria so just shut your mouth, in fact, i can boldly say that in developed countries, there are checks and balances in the govt that prevent against looting govt funds so be quiet. A thief is a thief whether he is in America or Timbuktu, or whether he invests it in Nigeria. You're probably one of those dishonest people who would loot state funds if you were in that position, what a shame.

IS RIBADU EFCC?
Honestly, I am shocked by most people's reaction on this issue. Is EFCC founded on Ribadu? That only Ribadu can drive it? The EFCC, from what I understand, is a body founded by Nigeria govt to operate under processes and procedures just like the House of Representatives and the Senate. If we say without Ribadu, the EFCC will no longer function, then we should scrap the EFCC and name it NUHU RIBADU and allow it to function like Rev. King! Seriously, for me, Ribadu leaving office is a welcomed development and opportunity to see what another Nigerian can do with the office. Don't forget, Nigeria is ours and if the new boss refuses to perform, the onus rest on us to kick him out, just like we did to Obasanjo 3rd term bid! Simple
I think EFCC chairmanship should also be rotational, now a northerner should not replace Ribadu, since the north has serve their turn uptill now. Power must change hand That is democracy

I said it in my earlier post. EFCC is a very corrupt organization. My petition to the EFCC over a misdemeanour at the Cross River State Water Board Limited developed wings and flew from the coffers of the EFCC till this day. Every effort to trace it has met with brick walls erected from within. I know of at least 2 operatives of the agency who have acquired exotic properties in real estate, luxury automobiles etc, and who's means could not have legitimately paid for such assets. There is a big racket in the EFCC, and let me explain how that racket works. When a petition is sent to EFCC, members of the racket (who are stationed in different departments) intercept the petition, open same, check the contents and make effort to contact whomsoever is accused in the letter. They then proceed to contact the accused person or organization, lay the letter before him (them) and ask for his 'cooperation' so that the matter is settled 'amicably'. If the accused has the muscle, the racket gets paid, and the matter is swept under the carpet. The racket also promises to shield the 'accused' from any further action. Members would then open their eyes to watch and intercept any more petitions that may come as a result of the 'settled' issue. It happened to me! http://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-99610.0.html Only matters that can be sustained by media razzmatazz gets treated and properly investigated. And, it is not cheap to sustain a long media campaign against a corrupt person unless, you can afford to pay for such campaign, to keep the issue on the national front burner. Institutions cannot function properly when they are built around individuals. Let Ribadu go. I guess there are so many other Ribadu's out there in the country. No one person should be elevated to a point where he feels, he is untouchable. The EFCC needs proper cleansing because it is corrupt; very deeply corrupt.
