Nigerian VCD Solution

Hey Nairalanders,

Are you tried of VCDs that freeze up when your watching them. Or the Vcds thats have boxes going though them HuhHuh?

Well I have a solution,

When that happens to your Vcd, you just rinse the disc for about 30 secs or 1 mintue with warm water. then wipe the water off and play the disc. it should be clearer and the freezing should stop.

I tried it and it has work for about the past 4 years that I have been doing it.   I hope your Nigerian movies will be more enjoyable.

I actually hated nigerian movies because of that. lol,  so we rent nigerian movies that have been burnt on DVDs.

Anyways i'll try this when i get a VCD,  thanks.

Rinse in warm water? Huh Can anyone explain why that works? Since such VCDs came from Naija, is it possible you are washing away the 'freezing' evil spirit

Just the shiny surface underneath.

YOU can rinse either side or both.

The shiny part is what the laser reads. Washing the top leaves you with the same results.

If the rinsing thing didn't work for you, use toothpaste to solve the scratch problems. Should be used as a last resort as it's a relatively high-abrasive substance.

You can also use Brasso metal polish, auto wax or basically any abrasive compound. Just polish as you would a scratch on your car. The aim should really be only to recover data for reburning not for continued use of the disk.

well check to see if the actual disc is scartched. because if it is then i don't think the warm water will work. and i think it also depends on if u got an original VCD or a bootleged one. (bootleg/bootleged means fake)
