thank you easimoni you are a blessing to this generation. please how can i upload this new data to my aptistock software. would't it overwrite the 2007 datas previously uploaded?

Bless u Man jiro , i keenly follow up as u have instructed. The 2008 easimoni data could't update the 2007 data, Aptistock creates it separately and for each of the NNSE categories i have two coy name. Please help out.

If possible kinly give me the software to run the metastock data i just downloaded.

Thanks

The quickest way forward would be to get Easimoni's 2007 sheet: check his first post or the megaupload link he posted. Not sure if i did. The stock symbol formats should be the same for 2007 and 2008.

Do a search for Kosieboy on Narialand: he uploaded the Metastock stuff. Just make sure you have Avast Anti-virus before you open the zip folder.

Hope this helps.

The "EODData of metastock fomat" is okay.

Click on browse and locate your source file.

Select the market destination to the one you have named for Nigerian Stock Exchange: I think Easimoni uses NNSE

Check that your market symbol tallies with what you have defined e.g NNSE.

Uncheck the thick mark for suffix

Confirm that the destination folder is the one you have defined for your NNSE

Click on import

I am assuming that you have already imported the market symbol file

Assuming you are using Easimoni's Aptistock data (not the data i pasted for Metastock), see below:

1. In the browse section of the downloader, make sure you actually select the file that contains your data: not just the folder

2. if you are still getting the same error, open the csv saved by Easimoni and save it as: CSV (MS DOS)

If the above does not work, copy and paste or upload the first 10 rows of your source data here

@Oga Easi & All,

Have you noticed that the indicators in Aptistock give different readings to that in Nigeriansecurities.  For eg, 14 day RSI for Guaranty Trust today is 52.33 on Nigerian Securities and 46.61 on Aptistock.  Also the values for the Stochastics on Aptistock really differs to that of the Fast/Slow Stochastics on Nigerian Securities.  Does any body know what the J value of the Stochastics on  Aptistock stand for?, If you set the K (14)and D (3) values, you get different results on Aptistock to what you get in Nigerian Securities

I'll have to get back to you since I'm not yet home but my guess is that the difference is due to the varation in OHLC data the differfent sites seem to have. Savvy and I use ZSL for our price updates. It is well documented that ZSL and Nig Sec often have diff sets of numbers on most days.

No I don't know what the J values stand for.

I am reposting tghe third message from this thread

Quote
Now that you have the NSE OLHC/Volume data (named NNSE to avoid confusion with AptiStock's Indian NSE), go through the following steps to import the file.

"Tools"
"Data Downloader"
Under Data Destination, check "Other Market" and input the market name NNSE

Select "Import" at the bottom of the window and the "Import Data from EOD Data File" will come up.
Under "File Select", click on "Browser"
Change file type to "Comma Separated File (*.csv)"
Find the place you saved the NNSE file (which you must have unzipped) and select it.
Click "open"
Back on the "Import Data from EOD Data File" window, click "Import"

AptiStock will spend some time loading the data and creating a CSV file for every stock. Repeat the import process when you get new data and it will append new data to existing stocks. It will also create new symbols for new stocks

wyt,
Have you unzipped the NNSE file?
Did you follow these instructions to the letter?

@Easimoni,

Many thanks for the reply.  Folks really need to watch out when using the stochastics indicator on Aptistock because you get different results depending on the value you assign to J which really distorts the chart.

Love Aptistock is a freeware that could be usedfor technical analysis of NSE. I use it and it works well. All thanks Easi moni, Man Jiro, Savy lanre and so many other nairalanders!

Man jiro welcome on board. I am new to Meta Socks and would need your expertise as need arise. Still studying it. My email is ogunyemi@gmail.com should you have any material or do-it-yourself I have the software installed allready but I am yet to understand how and where to start.

Please do kindly help.

Also, the metastock data supplied are they in any way compartile with local progenics, integra and bestamos softwares?

Thanks for all the education.

I was off the blog for a while and glad to be fully on board once again.

Man jiro consider opening a new thread Technical analysis using Metastock to avoid confusion and redefinition and differentiation.

Or liase with easimoni if he cld adjust the thread topic to Technical analysis using Aptistock and/or Metastock since it is highly "technical" thread and proliferation of such may make the business section boring and "geeky"/too technical
