No Benjamin Banneker and George washington Carver are black. They were sucessful and never went to college.
hmm, really?? kudos to them, then. They probably grew up from rich parents but what i don't understand about black folks is that: They'd come from very poor background, see violence everyday(shootings, etc), teens gettin' pregnant and bein' abandoned by baby-daddy/mama but at the end of the day, they go back and repeat the same stuff over and over again and it goes on from generation to generation. It still baffles me. do u understand that? So, u mean to tell me that white-Americans didn't have soap(never took showers) or combed their hair till those African-Americans made those inventions??, please tell that to the birds.
Why can't you believe white folks didn't have this until AA invented these thinsg? Damn ya'll Africans are some self hating people. You think white people are some type of damn gods.
George washington Carver invented soap. I never said people didn't take baths. They didn't have soap that lathers. They used other things. Just like people used baking soda until they invented deodorant. People used things for their hair until a black woman invented the nodern day comb and brush. They still groomed their but they couldn't groom it like they do now until the modern comb and brush was invented.
No, honey, i don't think they're "gods" and i don't think they're all "smart". I know one white girl at school, most of the AAs there are smarter than her. I made my comment based on when slavery began and when Africans who are now African-Americans were brought to America. Before African slaves were brought in America, civilization has been in America and yes, do u mean they never took showers until white slave-masters went and got them to America only for them to be tortured and enslaved for years before the abolishment of slavery?? Even several years after slavery stopped, they still had no say. They were segregated. So, if i may ask, when did they invent those stuff?/ can i get the accurate dates?? Ok, now u're bein' more clear. You should have wrote that they made improvements on previous inventions not that they 'invented' them. When u say 'invent', u imply that they first came up with it. however, when u say 'improve', u mean that they improved someone else's invention. Thank you. Goodnight, got school tomorrow. I'll be back to reply to any posts u might post.

To Stillwater yes some African Americans do speak broken down english. But what about the ones that don't?
Why do have to go college to be successful? Thats what wrong with Africans you think in order to be somebody you have to have a degree. A piece of paper that defines who you are. Some of the greatest people have never went to college. Now I understand why the majority of this generation of African Americans would never reach the pinnacle of success. You dare call a degree a piece of paper? How dare you? You are a shame to the likes of Elizabeth Eckford that was sneered at in 1957 for going to an all white school. Show me the statistics of progressive blacks without college eduucation(as you presumed education is just a piece of paper). How do you expect to get jobs? Do you think the African American community would have any representative in the white house if not for educated blacks? Its not that whites hold black people back but they do do things. It is little known that in New Orleans the blacks tries to relocate and there were white people who standing there at the border with shotguns and told the black people nigger back and wouldn't let them in their neighborhoods. But you didn't read that in a paper. Did you know that the government finance white schools more than black schools? Did you know that black patients are less likely to get pain killers in the hospital than white? I know black people who have been pulled over by the police just because they were black. How do you expect to benefit your people without the piece of paper you foolishly relegated a degree to? So I'm NOT saying white people hold black people back. But they do things to try to stop us from moving foward. Not all white people. There are some very decent white people out there. I wonder where you get this from. I live in the US. How do white people do things to bring you down? My uncles schooled and worked in the same US you say the whites are racist and they are doctors, grasping the opportunities America has to offer and you are here beating your chest that you made soap.

Talking about soap, my grandmother invented the scented black soap; a perfect antidote for craw craw, kwarikwata, killer acne, rash, oko tii et cetera et cetera--- my great grandma fro Ijebu Invented the popular EFECTIVE herbal Dudu Osun Black soap--- These they crafted with ingredients obtained from fertile lands of Anambra and Ogun State Abeg, Let's leave this soap matter o--- like that yeye Nigerian General popping champagne because one local Nigerian company made Mortar, in 2007! @girl22, most Africans find hip hop offensive and retarded and honestly, I do find a whole lot of Hip hop music repulsive. I have only one Hip hop album in my entire collection, that is enough evidence that I 'love' hip hop . Gimme Fela, Onyeka Onwenu, KSA, Wes Madiko, Staind, pre-crack Whitney Houston and Enya--- any time, any day. Africans invented humanity. The oldest woman discovered was African, if we are not talking about Adam and Eve.
If you are so bitter about Africans calling some AA's akata then you should find an AA forum and educate them on how to stop being a bunch of racist ninis, they are way beyond ignorant. An African American woman came to my house and did not know that South Africa was a country. Amazing. You say Africans are emmulating whites but you quickly mention that an AA invented hot comb and relaxer to remove nappiness from here. Now tell me who is truley ashamed of who they are.

Yeah whatever. Africans are closed minded people. Did you know that alot of drugs doctors use are harmful to the human body with dangerous side effects. That the FDA made them that way to keep you sick becuase if it cures you they will lose money. Do you know that you could go to an herbalist who has studied herbs and cure your disease. Did you also know that psychiatrists made diseases up ADD and HDAd (sp) and started medicated people unnecessarily just to gain PROFIT. Did you know many school books have lies in them fabricated by what the authors want you to think is the truth? Everything is not in a school book. As a matter of fact it is best to study outside of classes. Did you know it shouldn't take more 4 years to become a doctor? The the powers that be added courses to make students stay in their longer to get more MONEY. Most of the classes you're taking are unnecessary. Oh but the white man told you a degree is powerful so never mind me. College is MONEY. Half of the stuff you learn are LIES. By the way I'm a biophysics major with straight A's darling. and african americans are so open minded that most of them have no idea that Africa is a continent and not a country . . . and that not all africans sit in the sand with protruding bellies and flies circling their mouths. Did you know that alot of drugs doctors use are harmful to the human body with dangerous side effects.
that is why every drug comes with contra-indications. That the FDA made them that way to keep you sick becuase if it cures you they will lose money.
False . . . perhaps you don't know that the human body is so complicated that no drug can be completely specific. I'll give u an example: Cox-2 inhibitors are excellent NSAIDS . . . the problem is they also inhibit Cox-1 which is why you get the undesirable gastro-intestinal side effects. Unfortunately no one has yet been able to come up with a drug that can be specific for just Cox-2 . . . it is not the FDAs fault. Continue parroting the illiterate propaganda. Do you know that you could go to an herbalist who has studied herbs and cure your disease.
Which is why Africans, with all their herbalists, are still over reliant on pharmaceutical companies for drugs for common cold? Did you also know that psychiatrists made diseases up ADD and HDAd (sp) and started medicated people unnecessarily just to gain PROFIT. Did you know many school books have lies in them fabricated by what the authors want you to think is the truth?
This is not entirely true. It is a case of over-medication but the funny thing is more white children are diagnosed with these diseases than black children so this is definitely not a racist plot to kill black kids on drugs. Everything is not in a school book. As a matter of fact it is best to study outside of classes.
which is why you have quit school to study outside biophysics outside classes? African Americans are not racist towards music. Who told you that? Alot of African Americans listen to reggae, classical, pop, rock and country music. You're beggining to sound ridiculus.

Go research the FDA. sweetie you are delirious. They intentionally invent drugs that will cause hramful side effects so they can gain profit. Everything you need is found in nature. There is nothing about George Washington Carver being instrumental in the creation of soap. In fact all of the inventions you listed and attributed to African Americans are also a bit flaky (excuse pun). If I create a soap today that smells like any flower you wish it to at will would that mean that I could claim 100% that I was the sole inventor of the product? Go and sit down jare!
You do have a point about Nigerians looking down on African Americans but that is just Nigerians for you. Your initial post however, is filled with nothing but pure dribble and not based on fact or truths.
History of Soap.
History
[edit] Early History Soapnut Tree (Reeta / Sapindus tree) Soapnut Tree (Reeta / Sapindus tree)
The earliest known use of a natural soap-like substance was the powder of the Reeta (Sapindus) nut, which was used by Indians since antiquity. Hindus in India were obliged to bathe at least once a day, every morning, in accordance with Ayurveda. Evidence of manufactured soap use are Babylonian clay cylinders dating from 2800 BC containing a soap-like substance. A formula for soap consisting of water, alkali and cassia oil was written on a Babylonian clay tablet around 2200 BC.
The Ebers papyrus (Egypt, 1550 BC) indicates that ancient Egyptians bathed regularly and combined animal and vegetable oils with alkaline salts to create a soap-like substance. Egyptian documents mention that a soap-like substance was used in the preparation of wool for weaving.
[edit] Roman History
It had been reported that a factory producing soap-like substances was found in the ruins of Pompeii (79 AD). However, this has proven to be a misinterpretation of the survival of some soapy mineral substance,[citation needed] probably soapstone at the Fullonica where it was used for dressing recently cleansed textiles. Unfortunately this error has been repeated widely and can be found in otherwise reputable texts on soap history. The ancient Romans were generally ignorant of soap's detergent properties, and made use of the strigil to scrape dirt and sweat from the body. The word "soap" (Latin sapo) appears first in a European language in Pliny the Elder's Historia Naturalis, which discusses the manufacture of soap from tallow and ashes, but the only use he mentions for it is as a pomade for hair; he mentions rather disapprovingly that among the Gauls and Germans men are likelier to use it than women.[1]
A story encountered in some places claims that soap takes its name from a supposed "Mount Sapo" where ancient Romans sacrificed animals. Rain would send a mix of animal tallow and wood ash down the mountain and into the clay soil on the banks of the Tiber. Eventually, women noticed that it was easier to clean clothes with this "soap". The location of Mount Sapo is unknown, as is the source of the "ancient Roman legend" to which this tale is typically credited.[1] In fact, the Latin word sapo simply means "soap"; it was borrowed from a Celtic or Germanic language, and is cognate with Latin sebum, "tallow", which appears in Pliny the Elder's account. Roman animal sacrifices usually burned only the bones and inedible entrails of the sacrificed animals; edible meat and fat from the sacrifices were taken by the humans rather than the gods. Animal sacrifices in the ancient world would not have included enough fat to make much soap. The legend about Mount Sapo is probably apocryphal.
[edit] Muslim History
True soaps made from vegetable oils (such as olive oil), aromatic oils (such as thyme oil) and Lye (al-Soda al-Kawia) were first produced by Muslim chemists in the medieval Islamic world.[2] The formula for soap used since then hasn't changed and are identical to the current soap sold in modern times. From the beginning of the 7th century, soap was produced in Nablus (West Bank, Palestine), Kufa (Iraq) and Basra (Iraq). Soaps, as we know them today, are descendants of historical Arabian Soaps. Arabian Soap was perfumed and colored, some of the soaps were liquid and others were hard. They also had special soap for shaving. It was commercially sold for 3 Dirhams (0.3 Dinars) a piece in 981 AD. The Persian chemist Al-Razi wrote a manuscript on recipes for true soap. A recently discovered manuscript from the 13th century details more recipes for soap making; e.g. take some sesame oil, a sprinkle of potash, alkali and some lime, mix them all together and boil. When cooked, they are poured into molds and left to set, leaving hard soap.
Historically, soap was made by mixing animal fats with lye. Because of the caustic lye, this was a dangerous procedure (perhaps more dangerous than any present-day home activities) which could result in serious chemical burns or even blindness. Before commercially-produced lye (sodium hydroxide) was commonplace, potash, potassium hydroxide, was produced at home for soap making from the ashes of a hardwood fire.
[edit] Modern History
Castile soap was later produced in Europe from the 16th century. 1922 magazine advertisement for Palmolive Soap 1922 magazine advertisement for Palmolive Soap
In modern times, the use of soap has become universal in industrialized nations due to a better understanding of the role of hygiene in reducing the population size of pathogenic microorganisms. Manufactured bar soaps first became available in the late nineteenth century, and advertising campaigns in Europe and the United States helped to increase popular awareness of the relationship between cleanliness and health. By the 1950s, soap had gained public acceptance as an instrument of personal hygiene.
Rarely, conditions allow for corpses to naturally turn in to a soap-like substance, such as the Soap Lady on exhibit in the Mutter Museum. (Azul e Branco Soap) - A bar of blue-white offenbach soap (Azul e Branco Soap) - A bar of blue-white offenbach soap
[edit] Commercial soap production
Until the Industrial Revolution soap-making was done on a small scale and the product was rough. Andrew Pears started making a high-quality, transparent soap in 1789 in London. With his grandson, Francis Pears, they opened a factory in Isleworth in 1862. William Gossage produced low-price good quality soap from the 1850s. Robert Spear Hudson began manufacturing a soap powder in 1837, initially by grinding the soap with a mortar and pestle. William Hesketh Lever and his brother James bought a small soap works in Warrington in 1885 and founded what is still one of the largest soap businesses, now called Unilever. These soap businesses were among the first to employ large scale advertising campaigns to sell the output of their factories.

Traffic lights History On 10 December 1868, the first traffic lights were installed outside the British Houses of Parliament in London, by the railway engineer J. P. Knight. They resembled railway signals of the time, with semaphore arms and red and green gas lamps for night use. The gas lantern was turned with a lever at its base so that the appropriate light faced traffic. Unfortunately, it exploded on 2 January 1869, injuring the policeman who was operating it. The modern electric traffic light is an American invention.[1] As early as 1912 in Salt Lake City, Utah, policeman Lester Wire invented the first red-green electric traffic lights. On 5 August 1914, the American Traffic Signal Company installed a traffic signal system on the corner of 105th Street and Euclid Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio.[2] [3] It had two colors, red and green, and a buzzer, based on the design of James Hoge, to provide a warning for color changes. The design by James Hoge (USPTO # 1251666 Sept. 22, 1913) allowed Police and Fire stations to control the signals in case of emergency. The first four-way, three-color traffic light was created by police officer William Potts in Detroit in 1920.[4] In 1923, Garrett Morgan patented a traffic signal device, although it was not a precursor of the modern traffic light [8]So this man created a traffic light signal which is not even a precursor to the modern traffic light and you are in here making a a$$ of yourself about it? Harping on about Morgan solely inventing the traffic light?? Please It pays do google and research before starting arguments
