Upm Scientist Discovers Alternative Fuel From Egusi Melon Seeds

A scientist from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has discovered an alternative fuel to fossil petrol and diesel from the seeds of the egusi melon which originates from Africa.


Head of the Alternative Renewable Energy Laboratory at UPM's Institute of Advanced Technology, Assoc Prof Dr Nor Mariah Adam, who made the discovery, believed to be the world's first, said the fuel source from the egusi seeds could reduce petrol cost by 20 per cent and diesel cost by 10 per cent.
