@jerrymania, it is better to wash their dirty pants in public so they may change if they get to see how we feel.

America didnt get to where they are today by keeping mum and accepting institutionalized malpractices without fighting the demon. Bad service must stop, they must change or we change them. What we are doing here is creating awareness for the mass action.

this is a public forum so people should be allowed to post what they feel about the bank, it is not for anybody to be Mr Nigeria, even, in the so called WESTERN SOCIETIES, discussion forums do worse off than people here sharing their agony,

Tmoni do you work in ray power? are u a musician in P.H?
sometimes we just have to keep some things to ourselves because no matter how much you curse and swear, you will never get the solution because this aint the right way to address a problem publicly. Its just common sense not popular demand.

Rubbish. Is this how to fight the demon? swear and complain without offering solutions? is that how America got to where they are? you guys can keep on complaining and harbouring hate, and you are creating mass doom, mass action for a rebellion not a revolution. Get it?

Refer this thread to UBA staffs or authorities,it'll show how immature you guys are.

Hmm i was enjoying the beggining of this thread until i got fed up of numerous rubbish. I have issues with UBA,strong one,but i think its personal and not reviling them in public (i mean in the news or to the whole of Nigerians through Nairaland). I'm not a die hard patriot either. This aint the way to address a corporate body. the westerners we immitate wont behave this way. the suffering american will always say 'In God We Trust". wtf is wrong with u guys? and SEUN still left this on the homepage and even on the forum? this is not the right or professional way to address your complaints, this is the touts way. I wonder the quality of nairalanders sef.
Its best for Seun to delete this topic. I guess that is solely in your domain. Leaving it still on the forum still shows that we Nigerians love to swim in our troubles and problems with no solution. This is not good for the image of Nigeria and Nairaland.

I guess i'm making sense.

@ jerrymania
Now you have observed that we like complaining and do not proffer solutions, please proffer a solution to UBA's problem. We are complaining here so others who do not have a UBA account are wiser and do not make the mistake we have made. Now if htere management is not brillant enough to know that from time to time they should carry out a customer satisfication poll then shame on them.

@ Jerrymania

Sorry sir, you are not making sense and you are not likely to make sense in a million years! Would you rather people take up arms against UBA? If anything, you should blame those that are reforming the banking sector without putting the necessary checks and balances in place. UBA cannot just be treating Nigerians anyhow, bro! I will be spreading the news of this shame whenever I visit a new forum until the Management comes here to apologise for taking Nigerians for granted. Both UBA and people like you do not seem to know the Century we are in!

@Jerrymania,
Please see this thread as an audit for UBA on a platter of gold. Corporate organisations pay agencies to get this honest, diversified and widely sampled opinion poll.
To move forward,UBA should identify each of the issues mentioned and address them if she wishes to join the league of mega banks in the diaspora.

and one more thing Jerry, choose your tenses when addressing a varied audience(in real and virtual worlds.) It helps.
You never know.

I think it better we say the truth here because that banks really sucks.
I once went to a UBA branch at masha here in surulere where i reside with hope that i would make it in 5 minute but when i took bike down there, i had to wait for crowd to go down before it gets to my turn.
About  6 people before it gets to my turn we were told that there server was down and that has to be when it comes up.
Men i was dried in me because i have to meet up with what i wanted to use the money 4.
I guess GTB is the best sofar i can recommend for my wonderful fellow people.

Have a wonderful day @ work my great people.

Before i started having my own fair share of UBA's unruly treatment, i thought other people complaining were just unfortunate.
I can't start writing down all the problems i have with that bank, but it's getting worse each new day.
I was ripped off 'as usual' last week and i'm tired of complaining.
I no fit shout again!

This satiation is depended on which branch of UBA u banked or transact business with.  If u have worked in InfoTech company u will appreciate the challenges facing most of the banks including UBA.  I will rather say UBA bites more than it can chew and they need to adjust.  But judging with what I have read so far, if staffers are having problem with their system which is always down (very frustrating thing), they still need to put on smiling face.  After all they are recruited because they could work under pressure.
I have nasty and pleasant experiences with UBA too.  The most stupid one is when I lost my ATM.  I phoned the bank manager who is a childhood friend of mine.  He said I should come to the bank to report officially!.  I went. The CRO said I should first go to police to report and get court affidavit before he can put my deactivate my ATM card.  What I did? I withdrew the balance in my account.  Reason if ATM is lost and is reported it is expected of the bank to deactivate the ATM immediately to present fraud on the account.
My pleasant one is when I was stranded at Abuja and the Head of operation of the UBA branch I went allowed me to withdraw 10k despite that their system was offline and could not confirm my balance.
As for Local money transfer, I now use Access bank. The charge, very minimal and I have not heard of fraud.

Thanks for the posting by Nairalanders about UBA style of bankng. The truth  must be said about that.when u check on your balance from their ATM u will be sad to see deductions on transaction you are not aware /made with them that are high ,they deduct all the interest  on your acct which is not encouraging about that  practice.

The question i will like to ask Nairalanders is that: which bank is customer friendly in their service ?.

Thanks

Please advice

I HAVE COMMUNICATED WITH THE UBA HEADQUATERS REGARDING WHAT THEIR COSTUMERS ARE SUFFERING AND GIVEN THEM THIS NAIRALAND THREAD FOR THEIR COSTUMER-SERVICE ASSESMENT.  I ONLY HOPE THEY WILL NOT PAY DEAF EARS. YESTERDAY AT UBA UNILAG WHERE I WENT 2 WITHDRAW MY MASTERS FEES 2 PAY, I WAS TOLD THAT ABOUT N1000 MUST BE FORFEITED SINCE I MAKE THE TRANSACTIONS IN ANOTHER BRANCH! I LEFT THAT MONEY FOR THEIR BILLIONAIRE MD (TONY ELUMELU).

Hi All,
This is acyually the very first message i am posting on this site though i've been visiting here for over a year now. I had to because the topic really got to me.
As  a background, i am nigerian and i reside in Ireland. I currently run two account with UBA (a current account and the Non-Resident Nigerian account : ment for Nigerians abroad). I have had my hick-ups with them which i attributed largely to the "Nigerian Factor" though i agree that i deserved more. I was just about to open a Trading Account with them 2days ago but had to hold it when i read this thread.
I promptly informed the UBA staff i was dealing with about postings in this thread and that i was really worried, i attached a link to this thread. She just got back to me this morning to say that she forwarded it to their head office for attention.
My point is, beyound just making these points, let us bring this to their notice. That way, maybe, they will wake up to their responsibilities to their customers. So if yo know anybody that works there, forward this to them or even to the head office.

i totally agree with every that has been said about UBA i have a savings account with them, i had to close the account some time last year because of their horrible customer service.
going there to deposit money could take you a whole day.the staff there treats you as if they are doing you a big favour the rip off when you withdraw from another branch is unbelievable.
infact i think the CBN should do some thing about UBA their attitude could destroy our economy.

UBA is not the worst bank in Nigeria. Its only the least customer-friendly bank.Their greatest flaw is that they lack customer
care culture.Looks like they have so many customers that they prefer to lose some.My dad's been trying to sell his shares
for the past four months to no avail.I really hope UBA wakes up to its responsibilities before it becomes history.

Hello fellow Nairalanders,

Smiley Thank you for the exposure of this Bank ( UBA ), though i bank with them, but i never keep an eye in my account, whether they Chet, but i always hear my friends complaining of the customer friendly, and the management of the bank, so am thinking of closing my account with them and opening a new one in another bank, but the question is, Which Bank can  one bank with, with trust? the reason of my question is that, before UBA became useless bank as the word used, they were good, so who knows, maybe the new bank one want to bank with will be worst later in the future, so i believe that if UBA could make necessary changes, they will turn out to be one of the best bank in Nigeria. So am using this medium to tell my fellow nairalanders that are banking with UBA, that they should be pateint, and as time goes on, things will turn out well.

GUARANTY TRUST BANK

I am just about to open an account with GTB myself.

My reason is based on a thread I read here a while back on banks and GTB was the unanimous winner.

ADVISE FOR THOSE WHO ARE GIVEN NAIRA DENOMINATIONS THEY DONT WANT

Do not leave the queue until u get wot u want, u are entitled to the denomination u want.

I have never settled for any naira denominations i didnt want. if the teller doesnt have then he/she should look for (i assume the bank has a treasury)

worst of the worst ask for the manager. banks like to treat people like its a favor so it behoves on us to know our rights.

Just wanted to add that whenever i have to do something at UBA, i get so frustrated and wait till the last minute before going because i figure,  i might have to waste the whole day there, why don't i do a lot of things with my day before going there to waste the rest of it. GTB is the bomb!!!

Did i hear someone say GTB is the bomb?
its funny when folks make generalised statements!

i have long concluded also that the GTB thats close to me enjoys banking only when the hall is overcrowded and smelling!
i havent seen a change in years.

accounts are opened for specific purposes.
a good credit customer might not share your views regarding UBA.

Having read all your notes, i think i have a good understanding of your various worths.

UBA services may not be so good, but the venom in your words have painted close resemblances of your sorry worths

I stop banking with UBA last year when i realised the danger of doing any business with them. could you believe that this people defrauded me of 5k for PHCN bill. I paid the bill at a branch of UBA since 2006 and am yet to be credited.  I was told at PHCN office that the bank did not forward my payment to them. On getting to the bank the stupid guy i met after going through his computer told me that he can't trace the payment and there is nothing they can do. I was lucky i still have the teller and a printed receipt they gave to me. The so called branch manager who promised since september last year that he will do something about it has done nothing till date. All i know is that i can really identify the casher who i made the payment to,although i have not seen him all this while but will confront him anywhere i meet him then we can now start a case.
