Simple Ways to Be free From The Shame Of Childlessness!!
Nowadays more and more couples are showing up at fertility clinics around the world, searching for answers, hope and eventual parenthood. Despite the enormous growth in population it should be noted that humans are not very efficient at producing babies. However being born a human is blessing and reproduce is double blessing. In this society to a woman unable to bear a child is an unbearable suffering and suffering knows no barrier, no caste, no creed, no religion or region. In orthodox mindset barren is considered a curse and looked down with hate. Without children loss of fertility, is the loss of woman's hope for future. Infertility/ childlessness cause great personal suffering & distress. Most of this agony & misery is hidden from the public gaze. That is the reason this topic is not discussed about openly. The dismal ignorance & neglect about the causes of childlessness and its treatment are main reason for the lack of public support for childless couple. In many parts of the world childless couples are socially isolated and thus emotionally very vulnerable. In some societies the pressure to conceive is directed towards the woman, and it is often she who has to bear the brunt of its impact. Childlessness is a medical problem that involves both the couples and both of them remain involved even if only one-person need medical treatment. … You will get a great deal of help from this link  http:///owkpj8

hello dr, im am very new to this thread, i have just recently stumbled on it because of a problem i have. my girlfriend is 24 yrs old, she reported to me over the weekend that she has been havin aches around her abdomen and side last week, also for the past three days she has noticed slight traces of blood on her panties (very little drops) but she isnt expecting her period because she began her last period on the 21st april and stopped on the 25th april. from our records it usually last for 22-24 days before it comes again. we r worried that it might be a sign of some health problem or maybe signs of pregnancy.

Wat do u think

Dear Doc Katty,

Compliments of the season! May the good Lord bless you for  your kind advice  to this forum.

Please doc, i went to see a doctor who told me that

(1) I am  ovulating inside and not outside. Please what does that mean and will it effect my being pregnant?
(2) that my womb is on top instead of  down. Please will it also effect my being pregnant?
(3) I usually see  some pieces of something inside my private part whenever i clean up or insert my finger deep inside, is cream in colour and in pieces. Please doc what does it mean, is it infection or what?
(4) Doc, i had my last period on 12th May 2009 and whenever i clean up, i saw something that looks like pieces of read meat dropping and the doctor said that it is fibroid that is dropping so. Please tell me what is it   and my period sometimes dropped in small bulk.

Please doc  your kind advice on these questions will be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi, doc

Sorry to ask question that does not really relate to the issue being discussed. There is this friend of mine that underwent a blood transfusion after which she cannot see. What could possibly be the cause of such an occurence?

Hi Doc.

I am highly impressed with d way u have been responding to various queries. More grace to your elbow.

Can u pls help me with this.

A friend of mine had the case of re-occurrence bartholin cyst. It has been operated two times (the was one was drained & the second time lay opened) with no evidence of re-occcurence. But d problem is that d operated area (right side labela) is still longer than the other and couldn’t come back to normal. My question is this; is it advisable to cut/trim it out because her doc. said  it could be dangerous as in during delivery (if cut-of) but believe me it looks irritating Sad.  Plssss what do u advise?

Hello Dr.
Thanks for all the nice tips
I have a few questions which I will like you to help me out on and they are on menstruation
I have been married for 2 years now & my wife is yet to take-in
1. When does the menstruation month starts. The first day you start menstruating?
2.  From which day of your menstruation do you start calculating your ovulation period?
    The day you start menstruating or the day the menstruation stops.
3. My wife doesn’t seem to know how to calculate her ovulation period
4. She doesn’t seem to know when she is ovulating. What are the signs she should be looking out for which are imminent or common during the ovulation.

Thank you

Hi Dr,

I would really love your opinion on this even though yours will be the 4th. I had a miscarriage on the 8th of this month and that same day was the day i was 20wks i.e 5mnths. The whole thing started first with severe pains in my lower abdomen and a sleepless night which when i went to the clinic, a scan was carried out and i was told baby was ok and all. Then another night of cramps and then i started spotting.By morning i was in labour and nothing could be done to stop the baby coming.

The Dr concluded it was a weak cervix, by the time i went to my own Dr some days later as i was not in town, he concluded on the same thing and that an earlier Dc i had was the cause of that, The 3rd Dr  says that a weak cervix will not carry a preg up to 5mnths!

Well, to be honest, am so scraed of taking in again. Been told that a procedure called 'Cervical Cerclage' will be carried out next time once am 12wks-13wks. My worry and question now is that, what do u think might have been the cause? Could one DC have caused this and what are the chances of carrying a baby to full term with the procedure being recommended?

Thanks as i await your response,
kathyekiti

@anamelechi
I think he should see his physician for  workup.  It can be hard to get our male counterparts to the doctor.  This could be a great opportunity for him to get a proper check up

@ladyM
If the fibroids are not large, I agree with you going ahead to try to get pregnant.  If it is a question of ovulation, your doctor can give you drugs to help.  Good luck

@uzwu
I think the long cycles is self explanatory.  The contraceptive pills allow you to have periods on a regular schedule

@moi2
Absolutely.  Iron is extremely important during pregnancy to prevent anemia

You can go back for another pregnancy test

@oluwawunmi
Functional cysts are normal and have no effect on your ability to get pregnant

@evangelin
 I have no idea what the doctor is talking about.  My best advice is to find another doctor

@baybgirl
This is not a judgement but if the only thing you get from having unprotected sex is pregnancy you are one of the lucky ones.  You can easily look up the side effects of multiple uses of postinor on the internet.

Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology

@doejohn
It could be an early sign of pregnancy.  If she misses her period, she should get a pregnancy test.
P.s. You are new here.  Reposting your question or "reminding" me to answer will not get you a response any quicker.  This is something I do on my free time, unpaid.  You can contact your regular physician for an appointment if you need immediate answers

@mabel83
it could be the effect of the postinor.  Sometimes, it takes a while to get back to your normal cycle.

@sunshine01
There are a lot of things that could have caused your friend's condition.  It could have been a clot caused by the transfusion or a stroke caused by the anemia.  I wish her well.  There are drugs that we use like depo lupron in the treatment of fibroids.  Unfortunately, I don't know of any herbs
P.S. Don't send me reminder reposts when you can clearly see I haven't answered anyone else.  This means I haven't been here and you won't receive a quicker response

@shadegirl
It can be done.  I would see another gynecologist.  Word of caution, it can be very bloody surgery and the shape of the vulva changes with age and childbirth

@arabambi1
The first day of the menstruation counts as day one.  Ovulation occurs 14 days before the onset of menses.  If you know the first day of your wife's last three menses, I might be able to calculate her ovulation date.  Unfortunately, not all women will know when they ovulate and your wife may be one of those.  If she feels comfortable, there are signs of changes in the cervical mucus that occur around ovulation.  How old is your wife?

HI Doc,

Thanks for all your responses,

Please see below your last response on the issue of infection after cervix stitch has been placed, and an update

Just to keep you updated, am 14 weeks now with identical twins and had stitch put it at 12 weeks, i have given up work and am on my bed most times,
i have a follow up vaginal scan in 3 days time to see how the cervix is holding, then i think i will be having vaginal scans every 2 weeks till i am 24 weeks.
Because they are sharing the same placenta, i have an ultrasound when am 16 weeks, then every 2 weeks  after that to see that the babies are growing ok and that one is not bigger than the other,

All appears okay but just one more thing on still the same issue of infection! i have had 4 crp tests and  the results  have been hovering around 15-19 which i know means hign risk i might have the babies early  which is expected of twins ( am hoping to last at least 32 weeks)

My prayer is that the crp doesn't increase like the last pregnancy which led to me losing my child.
Just as you mentioned the doctors don't see the need to give me antibiotics even with my crp been high which i think is for the best, but because i am not entirely comfortable with the number range, i was thinking of taking vitamin c supplements to reduce the CRP - so i have read.

i am currently taking clexane, baby aspirin, pregnancare ( which has 70mg of vitamin C) and omega 3 suplements.

I am taking loads of water, orange juice and canberry juice each day,
the question is is it okay to sake vitamin c tablets? and if so what dosage ,  in regards to the 17 hydroxyprogesterone you mentioned i will mention it to them when i see them on wednesday.

sorry for the long email,

Thanks

"@ant 01
I agree with the doctor not giving antibiotics.  It is a myth that they are a cure all.  They can actually cause major problems and should only be used as needed.  I am assuming he is putting in two cerclages, not standard but also not unheard of.  Talk to them about the 17 hydroxyprogesterone."

Hi again,

FYI: Forgot to mention i am also on 400mg cyclogest a day and also take my temperature everyday ,

Also with vitamin c, if it is ok to take them, is it true that i will have to continue after birth or else the babies will have scurvy if i stop taking them once i give birth

Thanks a mil!

@alimat2
You would ovulate 8 days after the start of your period

@beekie
unfortunately, having a D&C can be a risk factor.  It is more common with multiple D&Cs but depending on the patient and how the D&C was done, it can cause cervical incompetence.  I agree with your other doctors that you need a cerclage.  Take heart and good luck

Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology

@ant01
I don't think you need additional vitamin C and no, the babies are not going to get scurvy if you don't take vitamin c.  I think you are a candidate for hydroxyprogesterone and the CRP testing I believe, is overkill because it is non specific.  However, if it gives a sense of reassurance, aleuta continua.  It is NOT standard of care.  Good luck and keep me posted
