I am among those that have not been able to effectively calculate their ovulation period. I have been married for 2½  years without any fruit of the wmb
I have my February menstruation on 25th, march on 25th & April on 22nd. Each of these was normally for 5 days. But I saw my menses again on Monday may 18th and slightly on 19th but had not seen it since the. I have sex with my husband on Sunday may 17th. Can I be pregnant?
A week before that I had some pain on the lower part of my abdomen and I went to the clinic but after taking my blood sample for test, the Dr says she didn’t see any sign of pregnancy & gave me some drugs but also referred me to do a scan.

Can you advise based on this

@igbalajobi
did you have sex with your husband before the 17th?

Yes kathi, I did had sex with my husby severally before 17th.
Update:
1.   I have been having abdominal pain at the lower part of my abdomen and can’t really the cause
2.   is it right for me to continue having sex with my husband during the period of uncertainty of whether I am pregnant or not.

Kathy, thanks for your efforts. Pls refer to my various threads with you above.
February 25th,
March 25th
April 22nd
May 18
June 16,
It’s normally 5 days on each occasion except in May where I had it just 1½,  I will let you know long this will last
Now I saw it again this morning and it was very very thick. You remember I asked if it is safe t0 continue having sex with my husby and you said yes. I and my usby are thinking probably I could have conceive especially for having it for just a day last time and the very thick menses I had this morning may actually means loosing it even it is just for 3 weeks.
1.   Is it possible to conceive for ¾ weeks and loose it for whatever reason including sex?
2.   Does the thick menses suggest miscarriage?
3.   I still have problem identifying my ovulation period but only rely on the 14 days before menses that you suggest. Can you help on the next probable date and the right time to initiate sex with my husby?
Kindly advise as me & my husby are under family pressure to seek spiritual help which we are not in support as we believe God will do at His appointed time but we want to be medically sure we are getting it right.
Once again, thanks and stay blessed

Hi Doc.

I have a problem or should have said my wife has a problem. We have been married for 5 years for now with a kid of 4years old. W e lost a baby two years ago through CS and since then my wife have not been able to get pregnant. For the past 10 months it has been from one issue to the other. She often complains of abdominal pains, irregular MC (even now she suppose to have seen her MC since 8th of june which she has not up till now) and anytime we have sex the sperm always discharge from her vagina. Even before sex after some caressing/romance she does not get wet, we have gone through some medical tests and treatments which the doctors after some tests said its bacteria infections. We went for a native gyneacology who said it is a fallopian tube blockage but after the treatments from the native gynecologist there seem to be no respite as all the issues are still there. please doc what could have been the cause and treatment for this probems, your candid advise will be highly appreciated as we are both confused.

Ask your question in Sexual Health forum on this health section.  There is a specialist on that forum for this kind of question.

Just to update you kathy,
just like the last one, I saw it heavily as stated above the first day and only slighty in the morning of the 2nd day and had not seen anything afterwards. I have also been feeling so much dizzy these days. Could be as a result of the loss of blood and if so, what sort of drugs/food should  be taking?

@1honeybee
It is possible to have irritation that is unrelated to yeast.  The skin around the vulva is very delicate.  It is unlikely what you have is yeast as it last for a short time and resolves on its own.  I would suggest staying away from perfumed soaps or powders.  Absolutely no douching.  A yeast infection will have a thick wite discharge associated with it.

@don faszy
I suggest your friend go to a doctor for a culture and quick treatment

@igbalajobi
If you still haven't had a period, you can take a pregnancy test now.  Enough time has elapsed.  I would suggest you buy an ovulation indicator kit.  You can use the guidelines I've given you and use the sticks for definite answers.

@sweetypie
Don't worry but no more sex.  You are officially on lockdown:)  The issue is that the cervix is very delicate during pregnancy and may bleed during sex.  Since this causes anxiety, it is better to hold out until you are out of the first trimester and the risk of miscarriage is lessened.

@obidia
I'm sure you are doing a great job.  Make sure you are taking your prenatal vitamins.  Be careful about using over the counter medications without consulting your doctor.  As for the water intake, it is hard just keep trying.  If you start cramping, this could be a sign of dehydration and you should increase your fluid intake.

@kevostica
This particular subject is one that bothers me a lot.  Staph aureus is more often a sign of contamination in a person with no symptoms.  The bacteria is very destructive as a infection.  What was your sperm count?  Why did you have an analysis?  Were you trying to get your fiancee pregnant?

@vindylomo

Sorry to hear of your loss.  A couple of questions, why did she need the c/section and what led to the death of the baby?  Was she infected?  When does she have the pain? The whole thing about sperm "discharging"  has no medical bearing neither does the native gynecologists "blocked fallopian tube" assessment.  Other things of note, it is a collective problem not just your wife's problem.  If a woman feels like there is something wrong with her, I doubt she will be aroused which might explain her lack of "wetness"  This should not be a blame game.  I also feel that you have to consider that she lost a child and is now being asked to have another one.  The bravest of hearts is allowed a little fear.

Dear Doc Katthy,

Compliments of the season and more grease to your elbow. May the good Lord always continue to bless you for your humanity assistance which you gave every minute of the day freely.

Doc, pls something has been bordering me and decided to ask you question pertaining that, doc is it possible for one under 28 cycle of her monthly period to ovulate on 9th day instead of on the 14th day (i mean 28days cycle). I saw my period on May 9th and June 5th.

Then on the 13th of June (ie on the night day) i saw something like egg white clear and very stretchy and also on 14th (the 10th day) and 15th (11th day)Monday morning and it disappear. When i expected to see it on the 14th day the ovulation day  that is on Thursday, but nothing was coming out it looks at if i am not ovulating.

Please advice me, does it mean that i ovulated on the 9th day instead of 14th day.  I am confused or is what i saw not ovulation?

Secondly, there is always whitish something that looks like grinded melon which i normally see whenever i wanted to clean inside my vagina with water or each time i urinated, something white like grinded melon will come out.  Please what does it mean? Is it an infection or what? And will it hampered my chances of getting pregnant?

Please your candid advice will be highly appreciated.

Obstetrics and gynecology (often abbreviated to OB/GYN, O&G or Obs & Gynae) are the two surgical specialties dealing with the female reproductive organs, and as such are often combined to form a single medical specialty and postgraduate training program. This combined training prepares the practicing OB/GYN to be adept at the surgical management of the entire scope of clinical pathology involving female reproductive organs, and to provide care for both pregnant and non-pregnant patients.
In rural areas of the United States, particularly in areas west of the Mississippi River, it is not uncommon for general practitioners to offer obstetrical services to their patients. However, these generalists are most often not trained in the surgical aspects of obstetrics, nor have they been trained in gynecology, and as such, they should not be confused with residency trained and board-certified OB/GYNs. All obstetricians, therefore, are trained gynecologists, although the reverse is not necessarily true. However, some OB/GYNs may choose to drop the obstetric component of their practice and focus solely on gynecology, especially as they get older. This decision is often based on the double burden of very late hours and, depending on the country, high rates of litigation.

Dr Kathyekiti

how have you been? its been long i came online but i remembered you when i thought to myself that there's someone u can actually give an answer to my problems. Honestly, i am fed up with myself coz i don't know what is actually happening to me. i told u sometime last year that i was pregnant but lost the pregnancy on february 21 at 5 months due to incompetent cervix which was not detected early enough. now, the problem is that i've not been able to get pregnant ince then and i don't feel happy about it. after the miscarriage, the first blood i saw which i mistakened for my normal monthly peroid a was on 26th of march and it didn't flow well coz i remembered that i never used any pad and it was just some spotting which did not soak my pant, and then, i was supprised to see another one on 9th of april which was very reddish and was flowing well and lasted for normal 4days, after that the next one was 7th of may and was expecting the next one for around 4th of june coz i have a regular 28days cycle but to my supprise, it came on the 1st of june but i suspect i must have had an early miscariage coz i was getting some symtoms like tenderness of the body and my breats were fuller.

Now doctor what do u think must have happened between these period of march to june, please talk to me coz i haven't seen the next menstuation but i am confused as i can;t even calculate the cycle in days since it jumped from 7th of April to 1st of june. when do u think i should get the next period coz i haven;t seen it until date and i don't pray to see it again till after 9months. but if incase i should expect it, what is the date i should be looking at? thank u Dr as i await your speedy response.

29th of june

i saw some spotting on the 29th and throughout the day, i did not use any pad and it didn't stain my panties, i thought it was implantation bleeding coz it also happened during the last pregnancy that i lost. but unfortunately, the next day been 30th, it came rushing and i had to use pad coz it was soaking already but i am feeling headaches, could i be pregnant or what? i took the home pregnancy test on the 27th and again on 28th but it came out negative. please help me out

Dr. Kathy thank yuo for your timely response, well as per the C/S, it was done as a result of tight pelvic, even our  first baby was born via cs. I couldn't figure what actually caused the death of our baby girl. what I only suspect is that the baby over "stayed". Thank God Dr. after my initial post when the stomarch pain persisted we went for a pregnancy test which was positive. please rejoice with usss everybody in the house.
