It will eventualy boil down to a matter of preference and how well you master them but some good and popular ones are
Phot Editing = Adobe Photoshop/Macromedia Fireworks/Corel Draw
Photo DVD Creation With Audio = Ulead Photo Studio/Nero 7/ and most video editors have the facilities built in
Graphic Design For Adverts = Any good graphics/photo editor like the ones mentioned above.

photo editing: Photoshop CS2 or CS3
Graphic Design for adverts: a combination of Photoshop CS2 and Corel 9,12 or 13 will be perfect

i would recommend ulead photoimpact ,corel draw,adobe cs3 and some any other good software for graphics.
