Hi everyone, i have read so many post in different threads about one problem of service delivery or another. Now i want us to take the bull by the horn and startup a consumer right forum. it's like the one we currently have in Nigerian isn't doing anything to help matters. From poor service delivery by GSM coys, to Banking, PHCN, consumable goods and so on.
We wouls start by reistering to have a full member database and thereafter decide how we start having our meetings as regularly as possible. we are going to have lawyers ( for legal purposes) and all sorts.
Please if you are instrested send a text stating your name, e.mail, phone number, and your state of residence to 08034010652. 08055418499
I will start working on the website and other logistics real soon.
THIS GENERATION IS OURS LETS FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHT!!

I am in too. Please can we not make this another dream that leads no where. Even two or three people can do much for that country if they really want to. I m actually working on filing a petition against NIPOST/EMS with ICPC myself. I am sick and tired of having folks tell me that some Nipost/ems employees asked them to pay something under the table to recieve packages that were fully paid for from here. I contacted USPS already from here and filed my complaint with them now I am working on filling one directly against EMS in Nigeria itself.

Please, I am in support.
2 years ago, I a lawyer to furnish me with some info about what is on ground as to consumer rights and its implementation. he could not give me anything concrete. I could not get people who were willing to join me.
Now I know this is an idea whose time has come. lets go ahead guys.
Kobo, I am begining to think you are a progressive.

Very nice idea.
Of recent i went to the consumer protection bureau website and was taken aback at the procedure for lodging a complaint. Manchester United should see the complaint form, its got too much English you can't fill anything.
More grease to your elbows and i'm all up on it.

How exactly do you intend to "stop" the companies?

It is not about STOPPING the companies per say but forcing them to look at what they current offer the consumers in the country and doing something to change things realizing that we the public get to them to realize that we the consumers are the very reason why they still have business today and they need to start listening to us and our needs.
There are many horror stories of how people where cajoled into paying bribe for services that ought to be available to them at no extra cost. Police collecting 20 bucks from every other car to NIPOST/EMS employees refusing to release packages for under the table fees which they claim are custom and duty fees that the department of customs has no knowlegde of. In these cases, for Nigerians to effect change we need people to help file petitions against these companies, Report all instances of these sort of cases, be it by taking down the names of the NIPOST employees who made such demands of them or informed them of loss of any kind without compensation. We need people who are willing to stand up and say NO MORE. To help us fight corruption with technology and any other tool available to them. Imagine a situation where the table is turned and these crooked people realize that the people are watching and not afraid to take action. Imagine a situation where some of these crooked people get fired after being caught asking the Nigerian people for bribe, do you not believe making an example of some will force the majority to be watchful and realize that the Nigerian people mean business this time when they say NO TO CORRUPTION?? The internet happens to be a great tool for crime fighting in other countries and could become the next best thing when it comes to the fight against corruption in Nigeria. We have to decide to take advantage of what is available to us and use it. This year alone, we can scream loud enough for the EFCC and the ICPC to investigate a few more cases that directly affect us if you spend time actually working on this rather than waiting for them to do it all for us. Nigeria happens to be on the marked list even in the postal world cause of the way NIPOST/EMS have been doing business over the years, that is why people and companies who can afford it pay 300 % more to have their goods and services sent through FEDEX, for example and the cost trickles down to the average consumer in Nigeria. This should not be the case at all. We need to understand that NIPOST/EMS is run with our own money and so should be to our advantage and not the advantage of those whose salaries our nigerian money go to pay.
