Nigerian Beware Of Qatar Airline
« on: January 13, 2008, 09:18 PM »

I was in a plane bound Nigeria to Qatar to Singapore. On reaching singapore the agreement with the agent in Nigeria was that we will be kept in an Hotel and wait for 18Hours before we fly to Singapore
But that never happened on reaching Qatar we were made to understand that Nigeria is one of the country black listed so we can not get a transit visa. We had to wait in the air port for 19Hrs.
We had this Nigerian man married to a Singapore lady . The wife and Son was granted the visa and lodged in an hotel but the husband was kept off the arrangement.
We shouted and cried out that we will love to speak to our ambassador , all to no avail
It was horrible I only wish to alert you guys. I will not love it if any of my brothers or Sister go through that.

all for one one for all

Sounds like a nightmare. But, would it matter whichever airline you took?  Undecided

Good warning though.

I am sure u needed a visa to step out of the Airport. To be fair this is not a Nigerian Issue, the Qatarians are kind to allow you transit in their aiport without a transit visa.Example,if you have a visa to the UK,Air France will not board you without a transit visa through France to UK.The information from your agent is not right.

Did you people read what the poster wrote down??? The poster said other non Nigerians were given transit visas at the airport. That means even if he had no transit visa in his passport and was not holding a Nigerian passport he would have been granted a transit visa there at the airport.

Yes. Other people whose country is not "black listed" Unfortunately, since Nigeria is on that list, anyone carrying a Nigerian passport will be subject to the same treatment. I love my country so much. However, its passport has basically no value outside of Nigeria.

A few years ago, I was travelling back to Chicago from Lagos on Sabena airlines. The leg from Brussels to Chicago got cancelled. So, they started to put us on other airlines (BA, air France, whatever) heading to Chicago. When they asked for my passport to book me on the available Air France flight, I brought out my Niger passport. The first thing she said was that "Hmmm we got a problem regarding transit visa" I'm like never mind. I yanked out my British Passport and then she smiled and said "Good, now we are in business".

Again, I love my country, but a few bad eggs have made things difficult for most of us.
