Old Glory, why are you taking this issue personal? Is America your fatherland?
You sound like someone who swam through the Atlantic Ocean and fought whales & sharks before getting to the US of A. Remember, not all of us struggled and hustled before getting here so we don’t see it as PARADISE like you do. This is supposed to be based on personal preferences therefore I wonder why you are bent on fighting those who think UK is better. So don’t sweat it, ok? Tongue

Skidoc,

I didn't "struggle and hustle" myself and though I don't take this issue personally and as passionately as others do, I am still willing to say that the US is better, based on readings.

By the way, I can totally go 180 on this any day.  All I need to convince me is facts.  Not statements like "u can walks the streets of londonw with your girlfriend without worrying about her purse being snatched", etc as someone posted on page 1 of this post  Wink

UK 110%, no guns, low crime rate ,better education and better health care system.
on the other hand ,america with everything in excess, you are mostly going to die of gun shot, obesity or heart attack.with global warning is serious,do you want to be part of the world destroyer.
Why drive a 4x4 with 4.5 litres engine, when in europe you can drive the-same with 2.0 engine.
my verdict,America not a good place to live, just for holiday people.
UK-------YES OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the US, you are always like  a shabby " dead man walking", if you don´t have any bucks you will die! This thing is not happening in the UK where you are well taken care of.
Someone said that the British are stiff and fun-wreaking, no that is not true as far as  the younger generation is concerned. I have got two good friends who are white British and we always have a lot of fun whenever we make our minds up to garther ,  Moreover, different nationalities in the UK live peacefully side by side which is not the case for the US where young people most of the times NEVER EVER gleefully mingle with each other.  Infrastructure in the UK is worse than in Germany or France but still it is heaven if compared to the US where most of the outer city limits are woefully left to decay.  :'(Moreover, Britain was a former mighty Empire and the US its lucrative colony and it is  even still "positively" palpable throughout the UK if you display a certain alertness of mind. In America there is a horrifyingly yawning gap between a thin layer of people who joyously ponder on their new capital ventures in Asia or the UK and a vast majority of people who are already geared to dwell a drab-coloured - and sometimes perilous - day to day existence while having great pains to make both ends meet. Whereas in the UK you have got a very decent middle-class that can carelessly send their pampered kids for weekend trips to glittering Paris or the husbands can allow their stylish wives to jet over to sparkling Dubai (which is a favourite holiday destination here in the UK) in order to let their hair down for a couple of days by going on lovely shopping sprees to refreshingly swanky "theme park style malls", for example.

In the US one has to grumpily toil away the days in utter despair  in order to sustain one´s head above the water whereas in the UK you can work relatively care-free and brighten up your weekends with some splendid spells in the sun abroad or somewhere else on the relatively and hsitorically versatile British Isles.  Grin

THE UK IS MY SECOND HOME AND I LOVE THIS PLACE Smiley Smiley Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Constantin, I think you hang around the wrong US crowd, smoke the wrong kind of crack, watch the wrong kind of movies or you are basing your assumptions on pure fantasy.  In the span of less than 24 hrs, your comments have moved from annoying, to funny to outright lunacy!  Grin

(para-quoting  Grin) "vacationing on the british isles, jetting to paris for the weekend", please, give me a break.  Even the english wreaks of fantasy.  What novel are you reading at the moment? LOL

If you do not have money in the UK you can still live a decent life, your children can still have a decent education, you can still wear high street brands etc.
There is the option of income support, job seekers allowance, working tax credits and soo many other schemes to help you with living costs, you can also get help towards your council tax and even have part of your housing rent paid for you. So therefore our government is alsways there to help. Nobody lacks in that sense.

However if you do not want to live a substandard life, and be classed as working class, middle class etc, I suggest that the US is the best place to make money fast. You have all heard of the rags to riches stories of soo many clelebrities. For some reason it seems to be harder in te UK to make your millions.

@Skidoc

I hope you are done waxing your eyebrows, i do not struggle and did not struggle to get into the US. The USA is better, bigger, and of course Capitalism over socialism anyday. To all those that have not been to both and are making noise,i am not sure of your  argument. If you told 10 Brits to relocate to the US, i think 7 of 10 would. If you gave Americans the same offer, maybe 1 of 10 would take the offer. The UK has nothing to offer. Here is what we have to offer and you guys in the UK counter this.

NewYorkCity: Financial Capital of the world, Fashion Capital of the world.

Miami: The most Beautiful Women on the Planet reside in Miami FL.

Las Vegas Nevada:The world's Playground

Seattle: Microsoft, and home of the world famous coffeemaker Starbucks

Washington DC: Capital of the Free world

Los Angeles, CA: Home of all the worlds Celebrities, and where all the movies and stars reside.

Palo Alto CA: The brains of the earth, reside in Silicone Valley.

We have the strongest Army in the world, the biggest economy, and the best political and Judicial system.Democracy every country strives to achieve. Someone said that the UK has more fashion, and in the same post said Brits come to the US for cloth shopping. Lololol. How many of you Brits on Nairalanders have been to the US? Please if you have been to both countries, please specify. A lot of you are talking from what you see on TV.

I hope you are as passionate about CCTV Camera's everywhere. Well defend  where you live, i am defending where i live. Tell me what is better in the UK. Strong army= Safety. I like capitalism over socialism, the economy is by far the worlds largest, unemployment is @ 4,5%. And that is including 7% of  the population that is Illegal. Please tell me what else i need. Business is booming, home ownership is at a record, the middle class is strong here.

Compare that to Britain, where the people are as cold as the weather, everyone walks and talks like there is something stuck up their a$$es. Rooms are small, roads are tiny, living expenses are like off the chain. You are Taxed for owning a TV, waiting list to remove your aching tooth. Gas prices are unbelievable, therefore no one drives, right hand drive sucks as hell, 5-10 people share a home like college frat dorms. Call me crazy, but i am sure a lot of you are just accepting the place. Unlike America, it is EZ to fall in Love with this Joint. I have lived in both countries and there is no question, the USA Kicks A$$.

US uninsured Patient: Doctor I do not have Insurance but i need to get this damn tooth out. It hurts like hell.

yoyoyoyoyoyo. pardon the french, but who the f**k says there are no guns in the UK? what the hell kind of news u been reading/listening or watching? there are guns everywhere. just like in the states, it hardly touches the white mans part of the world; it's kept in the ghetto, same as the US.

As for which one prefer, well,  I live in the UK, been to the states loads, and to be blatantly honest I prefer Africa! both the US and UK are shit. sure they got stuff we don't have in africa atm, but the life style is so much better in africa (obviously this is based on my experience, so don't shoot me if u don't like it).

in the UK you have to get a really high-paid job to survive or work two jobs, in the US you can get a good job like that, but damn! you work your ass off to keep that job; working crazy hours and stuff.

bottom line: give me the same amenities we have here in here in the UK and I will move home in a heart beat.

peace,

A

Lieleta

New York and LA and Miami sets the trends, and clothes are now sent to Milan to be made or even Paris. But where the trend starts from is NYC,LA,OR MIAMI.Girl you have cable right? What shows are you watching or stuck on? Mostly American right. 24,Sex in the city,CSI Miami,Friends,Alias,American Idol,Lost,Deal or no deal,Sienfeld,Niptuck ETC.Even old shows are still setting trends ETC. This is where the world  trends start from. When the stars wear  clothes, then others  follow their lead.Name one British show that is universally known. Please what does the UK really have to offer?Other than the Monarchy, what else does the UK have right now that we can envy? Tea?Fish and Chips?
UK= America's "Out of Wedlock" Child.

1) Plenty of people still lack.

2) High Street brand: How many people can visit NEXT, Harrods etc if not during Sales(Promotion) ?

3) You can only get help from UK government in Council tax and house rent if you are jobless.
