RE-OPENING OF AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY, ZARIA
1. Since the students’ crisis of September 27th and 28th, 2007, the Senate of the Ahmadu Bello University has held a series of meetings to deliberate on the crisis and find a way forward. In the latest of such meetings held on Tuesday, 18th December, 2007, the Senate met to deliberate on a resumption date.
Arising from the deliberations, members of the University Senate strongly condemned the action of the students for taking the law into their hands and in visiting such mayhem on the house of the Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Students Affairs of the University. Senate strongly reminded the students of the provisions of their matriculation oath, with implications for both character and learning.

In view of numerous pleas from students and parents, the Management of Ahmadu Bello University has decided as follows:
1. With respect to the letter of surety earlier mentioned in the Daily Trust, New Nigerian and The Guardian newspapers of Wednesday, 9th January, 2008, and the FRCN Network on Sunday, 13th January, 2008, in addition to the letter from Chairman of Local Government Area, letters of surety on letter head papers from traceable Senior Public Officers (Civil Servants, Judges, Doctors, Lawyers, Military Officers, etc) will also be accepted. A photocopy each of the Bank Teller, Surety Letter and completed Undertaking Form are to be submitted at the Gates.
