What Would You Like To See In A Nigerian Animated Movie ?
« on: January 18, 2008, 11:54 AM »

Hi guys,
I am currently working on an animation project, it may take like 3 years to complete. And I am interested in your views. It is a super hero kind of story, not science fiction, a little traditional , action pack and the guy is an anti cult. No costumes and the title is AKONI: Ancient Origins I would like your views about this topic. I will be posting pictures of the xters here as they progress. Thanks a lot

I will love to see a lot, but what I don't want to see is fluffy infantile fuzzy talking animal comedy horseshyte. Definitely no infantile 'twinkle twinkle little star' animation. Everything else is welcome, including sci-fi mixed with jazz (sorry, you can't just ignore the 'jazz' factor), spy thriller, romance,  epic- - -  everything. I want to see the diversity that is prevalent in the Japanese animation industry.

So tell your story, don't join no bandwagon, don't let nobody railroad you into creating another  'wide appeal' bullshyt. Just do a good job with your project and every thing will fall into space.

Story comes first.

You still don't get it Seun. You can't cling on story while neglecting the other components of animation. You really think a 'good' story will rescue atrocious animation? Actually it is the other way round. Story can never be, and has never been the animator's biggest challenge. It is the convincing translation  of the story that could make or break his efforts. Don't get me wrong here because anyone who thinks story is insignificant needs several trips to the doctor/dibia/babalawo/priest/pastor/bishop/Imam/Monk/Pope. Worse could be said for anyone who believes story is the most important in an animated movie. There must be a balance  between all the essential components like animation (duh)  voice acting, story and music. Channeling all your energy towards 'story' while disregarding the other vital components is an ailment known as 'storymation' where people watch your product and go 'WTF?' Angry - - - So Chief Seun, BALANCE is the key. Good  Story, good voice acting, excellent animation, beautiful music/sound track = Cha-ching! JACKPOT!!!  Grin Grin
