You haven't proved anything but how jealous you are of the success of the far girls. You should have chosen some other way to express your opinion. Like this you yourself have just admitted that the fair girls are more admired than the dark sisters.

na chinese people yellow. A black person can only be fair in complexion!

Anyways I have replaced black with dark. After all we are all blacks!

Hey calm down! What is eating you? Aha! I am not trying to say lighter women are better but it seems you have some issues with them. And why are you having this issue? Your post was kind of reliefing your rage towards them. I must admit that I like black beauties as a matter of fact I like Genevieve a lot. So stop burning and calm down. Of course you do,  . but I still prefer the term "yellow" or "pale" 

because the terms "fair", "light" which carry positive connotations are used to refer to paler people to rise them above or make them superior to darker skinned people (don't really know when/ how this began but it was started by white people.)
"dark" carries a negative connotation in the english language


asians aren't/weren't called "yellow" by racist americans for nothing.

because "yellow" doesn't carry a positive connotation.
you instead want to be called "light skinned" instead or "fair" 'cause they make you seem better than everyone else.

so i'll call you pale or yellow and we can all be fair (no pun intended).

@Omo Eko, I was not suggesting for a minute you have a problem with light girls, I'm simply saying if its ok for you to love the way you look, skin tone included, in the bold and applaudable way you do, its also ok for a girl of a lighter skin tone to do the same without it being percieved as  having a "stupid mentality",

Weslayan, I am not disputing that yellow is used to refer to Oriental people, just as the hispanic man is often refered to as the brown man. What I was disputing was that yellow in that context was inherently derogatory, I have never known it to be enforced as such, so why would it now be a derogatory term for me, as a yellow (well red) person? 


, lol yellow does not have to do with eyes, maybe I didn't explain my point properly. I was saying it is the Oriental feature of having "slitty" eyes which is used to negatively against them, not their skin tone, ie "chinky", etc.
I see how, in a particular context the term "fair" or "light" may be seen as complimentary, but yellow does not really have a negative connotation of its own,  Just like in some instances, the term "dark" can also be complimentary, we've all heard the term tall DARK and handsome, an association created by these same Europeans, their supposed choice pick in a male.
It all depends on context.

The word Black is used to describe our race, whatever the hue, from dark to light, not just non yellow Blacks. Yes dark, black etc can often have negative connotations, depending on the context, but so can pale.

I'm not saying you are playing a game, but this topic's heading does not suggest that lightskinned girls are better than darkskinned period, its one person's thread, again context.

You and I both know there are people for who the reverse is the same. I don't understand why he felt the need to share it, but its his own choice. My problem is that he chose to also single out those who are not ligh in the way he phrased it, "better", "better" than what?, "I like light skinned girls" would have sufficed, but hey, none of us pay for his internet connection.

even the white girls are struggling to be darker and apart from Michael Jackson and a few other women, darker girls become content with their colour.

Maybe because dark girls are almost never chosen for their skin colour more for who they are!!!

which was about michelin's choice of words in refering to dark skinned people vs light skinned people.
but oh well.

my point was "yellow" vs "fair" vs dark" vs "pale" vs "black" which one has the most positive connotation and which one has the least (according to the english dictionary).
I was trying to make everything fair (excuse the pun) and leveled.

as you can see, It IS derogatory and offensive when used to refer to asians.

Your original comment was to suggest that dark skinned girls are generally not chosen for their skin tone, but for who they are. That totally depends on the guy doing the choosing, I know plenty of men who are dark skin crazy. What about the Naomi's and the Alec Weks, the Imans or the Grace jones', all noted for their beauty, in fact more so than Halle or Beyonce ever have been, you think their skin tones had nothing to do with them being chosen? Look plenty of men go crazy over a dark skinned girl, especially if she is very dark.

We really have no way of knowing that every man chooses a woman SOLELY because she is light skinned, I think its untrue to suggest that. What it may be is that when you see a man with a light skinned girl, all YOU see is her skin tone, thats different.

I agree there are obseessions, which vary depending on the arena. These fads have always been around, and always change.
