Omoeko is making a different point than I am. address us in different posts rather than bunching us together in the same posts. we were talking about different things.
she's saying dark skinned girls are better than light skinned girl (you were asking her to post her pics ,which she did, 'cause you disagree with her)

I , on the other hand, was wondering about your choice of words (and the connotations of the words in general). you repeatedly refered to darker girls as "black" and lighter girls as "fair"
and then when I mentioned it, you refered to dark skinned girls as "dark" but you kept refering to light skinned girls as "fair" because you "preferred it"
you'D be "dark skinned" if you live in the USA.  not "fair" like you called yourself. only whites are fair or really light skinned blacks (mostly mixed)
being a "fair black" is a paradox. if i take the context you're using.

It seems here that as usual you didn't get my point. I have never even spoken about the connotations of the word as you have previously done. I used dark instead of black because I realized that It looks like I was siding the fair girls and this has never been my intention. Also dark was also better because we are all blacks despite our skin tone. If you read my previous post you'll read where I clearly stated this in bold.


I am sorry for misinterpreting your posts but that was the same thing you did with me. I have never taken a position on this matter. All I did was to make sure the omo was pretty as she claims. I wasn't so much interested in how her color fits her.

Lady T , no you are missing the point, the thread starter has a right to prefer light skin (although I think the way it was phrased may be contentious), just like you yourself has the right to say dark skin is better, if you really believe it is wrong to state one colour over the other,  how come you never said any of the sort to those who did the same thing as the poster?

You yourself said the darker the berry the sweeter the juice, isn't that just another way of saying darker is better? It is, but you see no problem with it obviously, but then criticise someone for believing the exact same concept, but with light skin.

If you are going to hold colour preferences, how can you possibly complain when others have them? You can't have your cake and eat it too. In fact that would be rather hypocritical.

I find it amusing that in this day and age, we continue to get ourselves wrapped up in this silly debate, which unfortunately, has a profound effect on the livelyhood of society. Race and skin color has somehow predetermined where we live, how much we make in  a salary (provided we can actually find jobs), who get medical treatment, who gets police assistance if our lives are in danger, etc.

It's quite possible that a very long time ago, someone decided that darker skin is an eyesore and while that may be the opinion of the one individual, whomever he/she was, that person had the power to influence the society which followed his/her leadership and this hatred simply spread like a cancer. Hasn't history taught us enough already? How many Innocent people must fall victim to this sort of bias before we as a society choose to do something about it?

I'm a very dark-skinned guy. Society in a whole chosen to call it "Black." I was born a "Black baby", spent my childhood as a "black boy", and grown up to be a "black man." The only group of individuals who considered me to be ugly based solely on my complexion were some relatives of mine. They spent their childhood with fairer skin tones which grew darker as they developed into adulthood. To anyone who cares, I did indeed feel very self conscious in my complexion, but in various stages of my life, I've come to learn that there were (and still are) a number of females, light, dark, fair, white, black, Latin, Caribbean, Asian (yes, it's a very long list) women who found me very attractive; as they got to know me, they became hooked. They liked me for me! That's all I can ask for.

I truly believe that beauty can be found in every skin color. I think Drew Barrymore and Charlize Theron are gorgeous! I've seen Alex Wek in person quite a few times and she is truly beautiful in person. I have been to major fashion shows where Alex is  walking the runway, I remember looking her straight into her eyes and she returned a smile. Yes, that totally made my day!!!

So in closing. Girls with light skin are neither better nor worse than dark skin girls. After spending time with girls of many diffrent skin tones, they each share on common factor. They all want and need to be told that they are beautiful, they all feel that they are not pretty enough (you'll find this out only after you get past their defenses). If your preference is lighter skin, then go for it.  If you like darker skin, go for it. When it comes to you love life, choose the person you know you will enjoy spending most or all of your time with. But don't ever condemn another human being for being born a different race or color. We've earned the right to live on this planet so let's just co-exist and appreciate the different things life has to offer. The more you chose to learn about what makes us all different, the more you'll realize that we all are more the same than we once believed.
