If the Late Yemi Tella who was a Naija coach could do it, i see nothing wrong in employing a local coach. very true. . he did it with the Under 17. Thats even if those guys aint 28. Some of them are even married. So why wont he do it. May his soul rest in peace. Sebastin bodericks too did it, go and call him to coach Nigeria. Ure doomed!!

I've heard a lot of crap about naija havin quality playas. . . . . So what??? You can all the quality players in the world but if they don't blend in2 a quality team, then u have nothing! To have a team. . . . . . Note TEAM, & then QUALITY TEAM, u need time, time & more time! How long has vogts worked 4 us? How long do u think it took CIV, mali, egypt, senegal, ghana 2 put up what they have now??? How long did it take westerhof??? Y'all can bash vogts all u want, but the fact is even with AW, SAF , RB, JR & JM put together the reslt would be no different & it was, it would only be a smokescreen for the disaster ahead!

The people who want Vogts to stay are such idiots! This is the Hans Yogurt fool, who killed German Football, Kuwait Football and Scottish Football. NFA board should be sacked even though they want Van Gaal, but he destroyed Barcelona FC in 2002/03 season. What's wrong with Eugavoen, Siasia, Keshi and others? Those three coaches are superior coaches in Nigeria compared to Norbit Volkswagen!
This is the time to look at the NFA with their organisation and get things right immediately!

Come on guys, let’s not crucify Breti Vogts. Nigeria is the first African team he has coached; so he needs time to develop.
I was furious when I saw some sports journalists saying that he (Breti Vogts) is Nigerian’s worst coach. I asked myself that what if Nigeria makes it to the quarter finals, and defeat Ghana then move to the semi and finally to the finals and bring back that trophy would we still be singing this song?
The man needs time so we should be patient with him.

Berti Vogts is Nigeria's worst manager. If you compare his record to Jo Bonfere and Clements Westerhof, they are excellent compared to Vogts.
Probably Carlos Alberto Torres was a better coach than Vogts even he coached Nigeria for a few weeks.
If Vogts stays, then Nigerian football is dead under his presence!

Re: Berti Vogts Must Go? « #14 on: January 25, 2008, 11:10 PM » Of course, Berti Vogts knows he is leaving. That one is a guarantee. The NFA will be happy to find a scape goat nto cover their ineptitude and greed. But the question remains, what next. Firing Berti does it actually solve the problem.
We got beaten by Cameroon twice in two different nations cup (one in our backyard). Was Vogts the coach then? We never got to the last world cup because of Angola. ANGOLA!!!!! omg. Was it Vogts then? Japan/Korea world cup was a disaster . Again , no Vogts then? Our local league is in complete shambles. Certainly not Vogts.
The common denominator that has remained from one disaster to another is the adminisrtation. Call it the NFA, Sports ministry or the League board. That is where our major problem lies. Not the coaches and definitely not due to a lack of talent in the nation. If a coach like Westerhoff can win the ANC with the super eagles and his assistant Bonfrere can win the Olympic gold , it tells me that any coach in Nigeria can succeed in Nigeria. We are that good. All we need is just to figure out how to administer properly.
I couldn't agree more! Well said Uche, seem to be the only reasonable person here thus far. I just didn't bother to read the rest of the post because most of the posters were just making comments based on their emotions and not thinking rationally. Like I said, I didn't read the rest of the posts but if there's anyone that came close to Uche's analysis, sorry I missed your post. Bottomline is, the players and coaches are not the problem. The administration has always been the problem! There is no doggone reason why Nigeria shouldn't have reached at least the semi-final or final stages of the World Cup by now. Until the NFA politics is eradicated, we will never go farther with the senior team. Peace!

Just now I read in papers about the unseroiusness of NFA sacking the man, Instead they only wanted to review how he will stay more in Nigeria rather than doing his "Ajala travel". NFA to review Vogts’ contract By Nurudeen Obalola, Sekondi-Takoradi Published: Tuesday, 29 Jan 2008 The Nigeria Football Association has promised to review the contract of Berti Vogts following an outcry over the German’s performance here at the 26th African Cup of Nations. Skip to next paragraph File Sani Lulu File Super Eagles coach, Berti Vogts The Chairman of the NFA, Sani Lulu, said the association would look into the terms of Vogts’ contract after Ghana 2008. He said, “The conditions of his contract have not been fully implemented and we’ll be looking into some of these things when we leave Ghana.” “We’ve been cautious because of financial implication, so as soon as we have the funds we’ll be able to do what we should.” Lulu however refused to explain what money had to do with the issue. Vogts, whose salary is being paid by Globacom is based in Europe, refusing to stay in Nigeria to monitor home-based players. Lulu added that Vogts’ decision to stay in Europe would also be looked into so that the former Germany defender would be able to develop local talent. “I agree that he has not stayed in Nigeria long enough and we want that to change. That was one of the reasons we didn’t employ Philippe Troussier, who insisted that he was going to stay in Morocco while working for Nigeria.” Lulu, whose board allowed some of the players to stay back with their clubs while other federations insisted on having theirs early in camp, absolved the NFA of any blame in Nigeria’s poor performance in Ghana. He said, “We’ve done everything we can, but I’ll still apologise to Nigerians on behalf of the players. I’m sure nobody back home is happy with their performance.” The Eagles need a huge favour from Cote d’Ivoire to qualify for the quarterfinals. A draw between Mali and Cote d’Ivoire, who play in Accra also on Tuesday, would see both Francophone countries going through regardless of the result between Nigeria and Benin. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art200801294315690Are they really considerin the consequences? What's your opinion? Check this out: http://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-108730.0.html

There are things I find extremely difficult to understand about humans especially, Nigerians. Why should Nigerians take it all up on Berti Vogts? He has done his best, I think, he should be commended. Those people condenming him should apply for the job, I believe NFA will give them the job becuase of their Convincingly and well tailored achievements as coach as contained in their resume. Every other team in the tournament is in for victory. I think everything lies on the Players not the coach. We seem to sell our place in African soccer to Indiscipline, lack of commitment to national duty but rather uncompromising commitment to international duty. The boys are bombs if you watch them doing their things in International leagues like FA Cups, UEFA, etc. But, why this indifferent to National calls. Please, until we address these issues, we will continue to ignorantly and stupidly look for a SCAPE GOAT. Please, let's call a spade a spade.

Berti Vogts Online coaching methods have not worked out well 4 us. He has a good pedigree but very little action 2 back his very high profile. I really don't think Nigerian are overeacting. This is d first time in my life that our Beloved National Team - Green Eagles or Super Eagles will perform so bad. He should walk n never look back. He is a failure. What did he even achieve in Scotland?

I am really fed up of hearing people say they should sack the coach. The problems of Nigeria football lies in the hands of that so called NFA (Nigerian fraud association) They can't even pay the coach his money on time , until we revamped the NFA right from the Top to the bottom we always going to have problems in terms of Football progression in Nigeria.
