hello Nairalanders,
Does any one in the house really know the speed and capacity of what the technology of starcomms evdo can do in terms of fast internet browsing, downloading and uploading attachment in respect with usage for a cybercafe. Moreso, how many systems will the stuff be able to support if one is in an area of 100% coverage area of its network.

starcomms evdo is fast. I'm currently sharing a friend's own and the speed is superb and is worth the price. Downloading with download accelerator plus gets to as high as 30kb/s and doesnt get lower that 8kb/s. Hope u find this useful

Hello, i have a HP Intel Duo Core Laptop and when i tried buying Starcomms EVDO people in their office said its not gonnan work well with My Port, i felt i;m being decieved its that true, please help me because my dial up seem to be one of the greatest mistakes i made this year because my business if going down, can i efficiantly use Evdo if my Slot isn't straight?

Hi prosper, No you are not being deceived, most modern laptops come with what is called express card slot (ie the not straight card slot). So you wont be able to use the Starcomms card with it , which is a PCI card. The only way is to buy a specialized Router to use with it. which does come cheap and scarce. Starcomms say that very soon they would be bringing in express EVDQ cards. We hope its very soon  |

Please i visited starcomms yesterday and all i got were people with all their EVDO kits complaining of hell of service well i'm considering DirectOnPC what do you think?

Kai, Dont try it  . I presently have a client who had been using Direct On Pc. Apparently their Vsat have been down for over a month now. There Boadband single user module is a sham, very slow. I don't know which starcomms office you went It think its a local area issue. I am based in PH. Starcomms browsing speed and download Speed is presently fantastic. For example i downloaded about 15Mb virus update file under 5 minutes. |

Well sorry dear I'm afraid thats what i'm accessing tghrough with now, i got it today although there are poor networks but atleast its somehow better than starcomms but hey its just expensive and they have poor customer care relationship there u know these indians now

Hi is it d laptop or desktop modem you're using? i use d desktop its quite fast my agent even adviced against d laptop modem well i gess it still boils down to coverage area below is a map of PH coverage area |

glo will be launching its 3G HSI(high speed internet) today why not try it.
look out for paper and adverts for details.
Its cheap for subscribers in the first month of roll out.
