Contraceptives are definitely the best way to go, I would suggest birth control pills but they certainly do have side
effects.
Best of Luck.

mightlove, all the best in your forth coming marriage. personally,i use the iud (coil). it's really effective and has no side effects.I used it after my first baby, and spaced for 5yrs and 5mths. I took in a month after taking it off. BUT,in your case, you have not had babies,so the best bet would be the pill. you can add on some weight, black heads, your period may suprise you too. . but since you have not had kids,it's the best choice. another inconvenience is that you have to remember to take it almost same time everyday. there is the iud with hormones and the one without.the one without hormones is better.it's called copper T.

Well, the BEST way to prevent pregnanc is ABSTINENCE. Next fool-proof way to prevent pregnancy is to have HYSTERECTOMY ( OR
Use a contraceptive (condoms, diaphragms, "The Pill") There's this new one, (in da states, i think it might be Rx), it was on a commercial. it can prevent pregnancy for up to 5 YEARS! it's also removable so u u can get pregnant early within those years if u choose. it looks like a white little flexible plastic. don't know much about it tho, i only saw da ad like once.

I don't know if you'll value a male advice but I have to drop it.
I'm a man my woman don't take any drugs to prevent pregnancy I did it naturally. Tell your man to learn how to control himself from comming inside you. most of the medicine may have after effect but this you enjoy your sex and protect yourself. Whenever he is reaching orgasm he should come out you and don't go in until he clean himself properly for another action. It sounds funny but it's working for me. If you want details I tell you.

for soemone that has never had kids . . .the pill is the best way to go but talk to your ggynecologist first because there different types of birth control pills and one thing for sure that they have in common is that u will add on some weight!

most people say it's the injection ones that make people gain weight. The pill only does it to a select few I have a friend whose been on the pill for about 2 years now, same size and everything, infact her pimples cleared rtight up after she started too. Her face is so nice and fresh now. Lol it's so weird, I've been hearing about people using BC for acne and wasnt sure of it til i saw her amsky, I've read cases of IUDs destroying fallopian tubes, I personally wouldnt go that route

@oziomatv,hmmmm. @amsky,i know that iuds are sometimes associated with infections of the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes(esp just after insertion) but to destroy,i don't know about that. i think most of us are just scared of it including me wudnt go for that option too. as long as its ok for you, chill babe

I know alot of people that use the BC and trust hun, they add on the pounds. then again some people don't but i'll say 85% chance that someone goin on BC will sure add weight.
I have a friend as well that use it for skin problems /Acne. . . and it sure works.

infection o, destroy o. Same difference jare although yea IUDs are convienant in the sense that you don't have to remember anything. it's just there in your body and lasts for like 5 years, i just don't trust it on myself

Types of Contraception:
1. Barrier methods:
CONDOMS Adv. -Prevent pregnancy -Reduce risk of contracting STD
DAdv. -Reduced sensation -Petroleum based products affect latex condom (***the female condom is made of polyurethrane and isn't affected by petroleum based products)
Others: Diaphragm, cervical cap and cervical sponge (these are less popular than condoms - male and female)
2. Rhythm method: involves the calculation of your safe and unsafe days
Adv. -No barrier so maximum sensation
DAdv. -Used by itself, there is no protection from STDs -High rate of failure
3. Hormonal contraceptives:
Group 1: Combined oral contraceptives
Adv. -Menstrual cycle: regular, lighter, painless, reduces midcycle pain, improvement of premenstrual syndrome -Malignancies: reduces risk of ovarian, endometrial, benign breast dsx and colorectal cancer -No barrier so maximum sensation -Others: reduced risk of PID (pelvic inflammatory dsx), treatment for acne, hirsutism (excessive hair growth in women), androgenic symptoms (too much male hormones being secreted in the woman), reduced risk of ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy that occurs outside of the womb)
DAdv. -Increased risk of DVT (deep venous thrombosis), MI (myocardial infarction), stroke -Increased risk of breast cancer, benign liver tumors -May cause irregular bleeding, vaginal discharge and enlargement of fibroids -Weight gain -Leg cramps and facial pigmentation -No protection against STIs
Group 2: Progestogen only oral contraceptives
Adv. -Decreased dysmenorrhea and mid cycle pain -Reduced menstrual loss -Some protection against endometrial cancer -Some protection against PID -is particularly recommended for breastfeeding mothers, women over 35yrs including smokers and those with HTN (hypertension), diabetes and sickle cell dsx
DAdv. -Unpredictable irregular bleeding but reduced overall blood loss -No protection against STIs -Asstd with benign persistent ovarian follicles -Must be taken at same time daily and used in caution in women with previous ectopic preg.
Group 3: Injectable contraceptives
Adv. -Effective
DAdv. -May produce mood swings and anxiety -Weight gain -Delay in return of fertility -No protection against STIs
Group 4: Subdermal implants
Adv. -Effective -Reduces dysmenorrhea and ovulation pain -Decreased risk of PID -others
DAdv. -Irregular bleeding and spotting during first 12months -Persistent ovarian follicle syndrome -Requires trained personnel for insert and remove -risk of infection and hematoma (clot within tissue) -weight gain -mood swings (depression and irritability) -increase risk of ectopic pregnancy -etc
|

|
4. Intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUCDs)
Adv. -low failure rate -rapid return to fertility -cost effective -etc
DAdv. -Slight risk of infection, perforation and expulsion -May increase dysmenorrhea -etc
PS: Please note that with all other methods of contraception aside the condoms, there is a certain level of risk of contracting an STD.
Hope this post is useful to someone out there.

There is a birth control pill called micro lite that has much less side effects ie you don't put on weight etc its very good. Quite a lot of these other pills make some women gain weight.
