Eyah, Timba, I feel bad for your friend and the funny thing is that Glo Mobile has never disappointed me. I wish I had your friend's number and this story of not being provisioned would actually not exist again.
I got mine provisioned and configured in 15 minutes and it's not like I was lucky. I just walked into their Gloworld shop and it was done for me just like that and free and that's the funny part I never got in early with the Glo Network and our relationship is rather new.
You know I've come to conclude that every network has its period of wahala(editor: problems), and if you are so unlucky to get wound up with them in their time of trouble then mphhhh, sorryyyyy o.
Tell your friend to go Gloworld at Ikeja. It's on the Allen Opebi round-about, beside KA Chicken. That's where I went and I got it done in 15 minutes. I think the guy's name is Wole, a big looking dude. See you!

Hi Y'all, I'm new to this forum and hoping on exchanging some useful opinions with some of my fellow Naija guys and gals. Anyways, I seem to be having a problem with Glo wap. Firstly I was using an IMate PDA2k and was having problems accessing Glo Wap/GPRS. I bought a Nokia 9500 yesterday and after sending the activation SMS to Glo, I got a reply within the next few minutes containing setting. After saving, I decided to try it out. Unfortunately, for some reason when I try to access the service, I eventually end up with the following error message "GPRS: Subscribe to GPRS first" Does anyone know what this means? Is there any special subscription required for this service? Any info or suggestions will be highly welcomed and appreciated. Regards medube  |

medube, why don't you call glo customer care on 121 for your line to be provisioned first?
Have you tried switching your SIM into your friends t610 or p900 to see if it will work?

You have to be a rich dude if you want to WAP with MTN.
GPRSing with glo is also quite expensive too but way cheaper than MTN.

i've sent the text "Activate" to "927" just as stated on glo's website and i got a replie asking me to save the settings recieved
subsequently when i try browsing my phone shows connecting for a long time (sometimes for hours} that i have to stop it
how can i solve this probelm?

It's been long since I used glo gprs so I'm not quite familiar with their service any more..
I think all you have to do to register your line for wap is to send the SMS "activate" to 927 and wait for the settings.. once the settings arrive, you have to reboot your phone in order to be able to use it.. I hope this helps?
For those using Sonyericsson phones, if you see a full blue triangle above your signal bar then the service is active and ready for use..
For those using Nokia or Sendo phones, if you see a "G" sign on your screen, then the service is active..
For those using Sagem phones, if you see the sign "GPRS" boldly written and not blinking on your phone, then the service is active..
For those using Siemens phones, if you see a GPRS sign looking like this :GPRS: with the colon on both sides, then the service is active
Any other sign different from above means they havn't provisioned your line or GPRS is not available in your location..
Some people are living in villages which havn't been covered by GPRS and are complaining...
if you are residing in such a village, you might have to move closer to the metropolis to get a connection...

Hi all,about the glo wap...the sending of the message activate to 927 is not just all...infact that is just 45% of the real task.the major task is your repeated calling of glo customer care,(121) in order to supply service to your number.it is not like mtn or vmobile that ordinarily sending a text,activates the line...so call them.its only that u hav to keep reminding them for faster results...

mamba,thanks for the info. i so much appreciate it.its like u just did this for me because been wondering hw i will get in touch with some of my hommies as i will be coming back to nigeria for few months. just bought this software that enables me chat with my phone through yahoo,msn,aol,goggles etc.nokia 9500. please hw will i be billed as per kb because i will only use the phone for chat and sometimes voice chatting as the software enables it.please help me out ok

Well desire, i think yo should send Activate wap as an SMS to 927, then save whatever they send u. or better still hit em customer care up on 121, and tell em.

Talking about mobile internet, its been my area since its inception in 2004 when glo started. I used glo GPRS for about 9 months then i used MTN GPRS for about 4 months within whch i used Vmobile CSD for 4-5 days. After all that, ive finally settled down for Vmobile GPRS. I bet mobile internet is one of the best thing that could happen to a person. My phone's restricting long message. I'll b back

It was Opera mini that was restricting me from typing long message. I'm now on my nomal wap browser. Glo offered me the best GPRS services until i started with Vmobile late last year. Infact, the kind of 'game' (browsing free while they are charging people) i played with glo, i can't try it with any other network. Mobile internet is another world entirely, where you barely feel hungry until your battery is down. Seun, i thank God for your life concerning this site, its been a BIG one to us all since inception. Though, its the busy world that usually keeps me from posting and replying trends on this site, ive always followed the trends. But i'll try my best from now on to always contribute. If anyone needs any advice or help on mobile internet, spit it out and lets debate it. Thank you all. Keep the flag flying
