Drop Your Reasearch Here
« on: February 04, 2008, 03:03 PM »

Hey sup yall. Well  about last week, i was thinking on how the google/gwt/ works, an after doing some search on the net, i found out that it meat GOOGLE WIRELESS TRANSCODER, and its job is to simply convert http sites to wml or xhtml(google.com/xhtml, works the same ), which is siutable for mobile phones and wap enabled browsers. it actually connects to a google proxy server, bypassing your local proxy. It shrinks web pages and removes certain data(forms, some sponsored links etc), displaying a clean simple page
I also saw how to disable it.(You're not thinking i'll post it, do you?!).
i think its a great effort from google, but what intruiges me is how it manages to bypass the local proxy. Guess some of our telecom providers don't know about this and so it connects without much hassle.
Opera blocked access to this service in later releases of its software. it doesnt work on internet explorer because its not wap enabled. As far as i know, it works on opera 6.5(If connecting to PC) and all opera mobile browsers(not sure of the modified version)
Well, thats about that. i'm trying to see if there are other servers with their own transcoders.
Anyone gat a new stuff drop here

A new stuff i'm currently working on is at wapforum.org. I was trying to break my way through celtel's wap gateway, after getting some ips, it displayed some error and took me to wapforum and apache tomcat default page. i think they have something to do with wapforum, for the codes in wapforum is similar to theirs(/DTD/).
Well, more to come later

google transcoder has been up for a long time, it's used mostly by students whose school networks block them from accessing a few sites like myspace and the like. the downside of it is that it rips out all the styles and then gives u neatly formatted version of the site in many pages. google almost got into trouble when its transcoders will always try to format pages even when it wasn't told to do so. the transcoders make u annonymous,
the transcoder formed the backbone for the mtn trick i came up with.

u can't use the mtn trick to post on nairaland tobs, the mtn trick u're using is based on google transcoders. it doesn't store user sessions across pages.

Not exactly tobs, like Dual Core rightly said, it can't store serverside sessions

Hey by the way, a friend told me about a command program called tracert. It simply traces the route to  any website and returns the values.
Lets say we want to get the route for wap gateway(wap.ng.celtel.com, for example), open command prompt and enter tracert give a space and enter the site name or ipaddress.. Its scans the entire gateway, returning all the ips and proxies! Well, i haven't tried it yet, as I'm still at work. So guys let me know what you find. Note that it works on all networks, not just the internet.

no vexx but in order to get this thread efficiently running someone please help me with glo browsing settings. I'm doing some projects so I don't have all the time to sleep at the cafe. my mail is powerblaze@gmail.com

I'm sure you guys have heard that Microsoft and Google are about breaking their banks in a tough bid to buy Yahoo! Who do you guys think will win the bid? I think google stands a chance, for Microsoft was under fire from several critics acussing it of  a one man show in the quest for total domination and practical monopoly.

Yesterday I found something that could be a bug in celtel's wap gateway. I had no credit and when i connected phone to pc, i got the usual message insuficient balance. I looked at the address bar for any possible strings and i saw something like serviceid=1117774499900bg I simply deleted one of the numbers and guess what, the next thing i saw was choose a billing type, Access Pay As You Use, just as if I had credit! worst of all, just before I confirmed, it told me I had 167.78 hours of free time left! didn't actually work though, still working on it. Guys check it out. Maybe we could arrive at something great.

Vista users, Microsoft by default prevents you from having direct priviledges on your vista, thats why the Administrator profile never show on any of the bootable option. Consequently, internet explorer runs in protected mode.
Well, this is how you can activate your administrator profile and therefore have full rights to your system:http://moniroth.wordpress.com/2008/01/31/unlock-the-supersecret-administrator-account-in-vista/

That will be all in this context. Just remembered we're in the phones section, not computers.(Who cares!)

Heya! just want to let yal fun loving phone users to kina take it easy, especially when browsing with your phone.

Don't keep it too close to your face, chest, ears and the lower section(uno?). Gprs works at a fairly high frequency, and most phones are optimised to follow suite. Since it has to keep up with connectivity, the phone radiates at higher level than normal.

So watch it. i don't want to hear  anyone complain of cancer in the comig years. A word is enough for the wise! Cool
