Vogt is sacked is the best news to hear. He shouldnt only be sacked but should be flogged, sanctioned, tried in court and jailed for a while. He will be in his room in Germany making L*ve wit his shory and coaching the country using email.

How can we employ such a coach that doesnt understand the game of football properly. He has failed everywhere he went and we employed him. He has a brain tumor and he has a fake coaching certificate. He is a M*ron for making us bad. Even my grandmum can coach better than Vogt.

Sani Lulu must go to Hell for bringing us shame. He should be sacked with the entire crew of NFA.

Its in time like this that I thank God i am a citizen of Munich. How can you sack a coach with few months to world cup qualifiers.

I can categorically tell you sacking Vogts is the worst football decision made in Nigerian football. A knee jerk reaction If you ask me, And Vogts is the fall guy.

And that Westerhof that keeps screaming on Supersport everyday. He is just looking for a job. He complained about our camping site but I remember him taking us

to Papendal in Holland to train for games.

Westerhof has been a total failure since he left the shores of Nigeria or Can anyone tell me his achievements.

Rudi Voller led germany to their worst home defeat to bitter rivals England. 1-5 If that had been Nigeria They would have killed all his lineage but the germans left him and he got the team to the world cup Finals.

Just like Aime Jacquet TKB referred to. Now we should go and get Tunde Disu or Ladan Bosso

What did Sir Alex Ferguson win in his first few years at Man United. Now he has built probably the best team of all time in England.

THE NFA have just denied the "rumours".
Read it on
www.kickoffnigeria.com .

Also heard it on Channels news just now.

If they fail to sack that man, the EFCC must step in and probe them all.

Its possible that what Vogts is earning , is just on paper and they may be sharing some payments with him.

2002, Onigbinde, who defeated Vogts while he was coach of Scotland(in his own backyard), was sacked because Nigeria did not qualify from the group stages at world cup.

2002 Nations Cup in Mali, the duo of Amodu Shuaibu and Stephen Keshi were sacked for winning only bronze.

2004, Christian Chukwu was sacked for winning only bronze.

2006, Eguavoen was sacked for winning only bronze and loosing in a friendly match against Ghana.

2008, the incompetent and clueless man called Vogts could not beat a team that was one man down and low on morale. He could not win any medal and here are the NFA men playing and toying with the emotions of Nigerians because of their selfish interests.

Can someone here help me right a petition to the EFCC? There is definitely something amiss.

Why havent we seen the contents of that contract that they signed?

Are there no good Lawyers in Naija that would have located the dangerous clauses in the contract?

These are questions that we must ask and get these people to respect us Nigerians.

The people say out with Vogts and in with Siasia.

Enough is Enough

lets face it, our players are overrated and not so good(except kanu). The coach should not carry the whole blame. South africa have a world class coach but couldnt survive the first round. The players themselves should use common sense.

@Salvage,

Onigbinde was a temporary measure in 2002

Chukwu was sacked for losing world cup ticket to Angola.

Eguavoen was sacked for being directionless almost a year after the nations cup.

Can you tell how long those coaches spent in the helm?

Westerhof could not beat 10 man Italy in 1994. with all the quality players we had then probably the best In Nigerian history.

Americas man Thumbs up to you nice analysis.

Problem of Nigerian Football
Nigerians have an unrealistic expectation of the eagles. This is a team that has won Nations cup just twice while Ghana-4, Egypt-5, Cameroun who won their 1st in 1984 have won 4 since then. Nigerians can’t complain that they lose players to European countries like Some African countries. Ghana had Desailly, Asamoah and Odonkor, Algeria-Zidane, Tunisia-Lamouche, Morocco-Djorkaeff, Zaire-Makelele, Mpenza, Luyindula, CIV-Basile Boli, Mali-Tigana, Senegal-Ibrahim Ba, Vieira even Mozambique had Eusebio. They could have argued that if these players had played for us we would have ruled African. No Nigerians player (Save Onyewu) has represented another country at a tourney. (Someone just reminded me of Ogunbiyi and Omotoyossi for Benin republic)
It’s on record that Nigeria has never beaten a top country (Former world cup winner) in any type of game at the senior level friendly of not. The best of Cameroun defeated Maradona Inspired Argentina and Brazil at Confederations cup, the best of Senegal shocked France. Our outings against teams like Germany, Italy, Brazil Argentina, Holland and co only have one result- Losses for Nigeria.
Our pool of star is also blatantly overrated. For in my African all time top 5 no Nigerian featured. George Weah, Roger Milla, Samuel etoo, Abedi Pele and Didier Drogba in no particular order
It’s also on record that no Nigerian striker since we started playing pro soccer has never been highest goal scorer in any top league. What Drogba and Etoo did. The closest was Yekini (For those who consider Portugal a top league) but who remembers Meyong Ze of Cameroun was top scorer in Portugal in 2003/2004. Even in African competitions we had to struggle for over 50 years to win the CAF champions league almost every country won it before us.
Nigeria lost to Italy in 1994, Senegal in 2004 and Ghana in 2008 after the opponent had been reduced to 10 men- what character!!!
We always deceive ourselves with rumours like Okocha taught Ronaldinho football (beggars wish), Finidi was once world best 7 (Who can tell me which authority gave him the award and who are the world best 7 per year before and after him). We apportion blame at the slightest instance blaming the referee almost every time. We have been trying to explain the blatant offside we scored at Atlanta 1996 final game by Amunike
We blame the NFA who remembers that Cameroun won 2000 without a FA. Now Vogts has been sacked he is the scapegoat why didn’t South Africa sack Parreira or Morrocco sack Henri Michel. In my opinion we should have left Vogts. Rudi Voller lost scandalously to England in 2001, he was not sacked and 12 months later he played the world cup final. Aime Jacquet lost woefully at Tournoi de France and 5 months later won the World cup. We are going back to the always available but completely ineffective drawing board.

The solution is for us to lower our gaze and have a more realistic expectation of our team Currently only Mikel plays for a top Club in Europe (The Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan, Juventus, Man Utd, Bayern, Liverpool and lately Arsenal avoid Nigeria players like a bubonic plague while they all have Africans from Mali to Angola, even Togolese in their midst.

I only have one reply to all that you said since most of them make sense.

Richard Owobokiri was highest goal scorer in Portugal and in deed, europe for a couple of seasons for Boavista.
Make the research. He was a Nigerian International. Yekini was preffered by our handlers then.

All the same, Berti Vogts is Clueless and not competent enough to take us anywhere. The Ghana match was a clear indication of the fact.

He only made a change after they scored us. Five minutes to go. We had ample time to bury the game. Have never seen him make any changes that change the outcome of a game.

He needs to go.

When did you start following football?  Smiley
Richard Daddy Owobokiri also known as Ricky, was the highest goal scorer in the 91/92 season.

There is even something on wickepedia here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Daddy_Owobokiri

Also here is a page with Portugese league statistics of clubs, championships won and dates and also season highest goal scorers:
 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_Liga

Go down to 91/92 season and look through and see Ricky as highest goal scorer for that season with 30 goals.
Please Ricky was his nickname and they assumed that anyone would know they were talking about Richard Owobokiri.

The other sites about Boavista are in Portugese and I don't have the capacity to search their archives and get info on Owobokiri since I don't know portugese.

The NFA should follow him and resign, those guys don't know a thing about running an organiztion. As you can all see, the chicken is coming home to roost. We have been hiding behind the talent of our players and our huge population for churning up talent for such a long time, unfortunately, everybody is catching up with us and relying strictly on talent is simply not enough to win tournaments any longer, we need good administration and the incompetent thieves at the FA wouldn' do. Shortsighted Nigerians are always used to blaming the coaches whenever anything goes wrong, they are ignorant of the fact that everything starts and stops with the Nigerian FA.

By they way, where is Yar'adua and the national assembly when you need them? they should intervene and fire all members of the NFA.

PS. John Fashanu please run for FA president again.

Sacking Berti is just a cosmetic measure. He has to go alright, that is the nature of the coaching job. But is that the solution to our problem. I think our problem is more deep rooted than Berti. NFA or whatever they call themselves these days should be brought to answer some serious soul serching question. To me, I lay the blame squarely on their incompetent , greedy heads.

@ dayokanu

The kind of machinery set in motion during the Westerhoff's era was actually setting us up for the super power of African football (We can still attain that if we put our acts together). It is not by default that we were ranked 5th in the world in 94. We actually merited that at that time with the brand of football that we play. Tall defenders, stout midfielders , pacy wingers and a clinical finisher. During that era we got Silver in 90, Bronze in 92 and Gold in 94. The Eaglets went to Japan and picked up the Gold in 94. Jo Bonfrere combined the Eaglets and the Eagles as a team and that got us the Olympic gold @ 96. If that is not dominance, then I don't know what is. If we had continued on building on what we already have, there is no question that we would have been among the top three in the world. When Pele was predicting an African coun try winning the world cup he actually had Nigeria in mind. So it is not out of line that we expect more from our team. We have shown times without number that we have an abundance of talent, the exploits of the Siasia tutored Eagles and also very recently , the Tella totored Eaglets are examples. Football should be run like a business with a very professional attitude. That was what Westerhoff was doing, he made the Nigerian team so attractive that Puma and Adidas were falling over each other trying to win kitting rights. Players were paid their allowances , he maintained a home bred team (even tho he did not used most of them; I still remenber the likes of Isaac semitoje and Edema Fuludu), he kept an eagle eye over the League and that was how Finidi got his chance.
Now all we have are a bunch of twats who just run around trying to grab as money as they can.

Re: Berti Vogts Has Been Sacked By NFA

The Nigerian team was packaged so well that wearing the Nigerian shirt then was a honour. Players like Jonathan Akpoborie, Ricky Owubokiri and even Peter Rufai had to plead , beg and reach out to the media, complaining that Westerhoff left them out of the team. Rufai even had to go on one Dutch TV station to lay out his grievances. Now You have players like Celestine not honoring invitations, Yakubu sneaking out of Camp to go do God knows what and even Obafemil going on a holiday spree when he is supposed to be with the National team. Total disrespect for the national team!!!!

Vogts is not the problemwe Nigerians expect too much from a bunch of mediocre players. We are going backwards day in day out because of the NFA. Only Mikel Obi plays in a good team while the other guys are in sunderland and chievo and we expect to win a tourney with those kind of players. God help Nigeria!!!

Dayokanu,
Owubokiri was the highest goal scorer once in the portugeuse league. can't remember
 the year.

We need to start preparing for the world cup, we need a coach that will instil the winning mentality in the boiz. if they want to sack Vogts , fine, but please get a sound foreign coach in 10 days!!!

If not, disaster looms if Eguavoen and the likes are coming.
Somebody mentioned Oliseh Grin Grin Grin
we are in deep shits. what is the difference between Eguavoen and Oliseh?
Is it because of his analysis on BBC? then we should go and bring Peterside Idah to coach Nigeria then.

The latest news now is Vogt hasnt been sacked yet.

A report reaching is in the hotel base in Accra ( close to my hotel) was a member of the executive committee member who represented Lulu at Tuesday press conference insisting that there have been You-turn on there decision. Reading from prepared speech that was signed by the NFA boss. The executive commitee met on our failed campaign of our national football  team to deliberate what will happen.

The major reason for the You-turn is because of the contract clause which stipulates that there must be about a month notice given by either party in the event of an intending termination of contract. As part of the clause, Vogt will remain the coach for 30days period and discharge his duties accordingly

Immediately we pack Berti's things out of Naija, we should concentrate on building and growing a Super Eagles team. Westerhoff did a good job in developing our football, we need another guy that can do this. Any idea people?

Clueless retired contractors run your football and you expect progress.

They always tell you that the white man can do better than yourselves. Why do the Nigerian coaches never get enough time to build their teams and someone says Berti should be given time. You don't need plenty of time as a National team manager. It's different from managing a club.

White rejects always come to manage our teams and we think we'll ever develop. We don't esteem ourselves highly enough to believe we are good. it manifests in everything we do in our lives: we believe the foreigner is always better than us. We will forever remain 2nd/3rd class in every aspect of life.

Berti was sacked and disgraced in Scotland and we started hailing him as messiah. Real radio in Scotland banned Berti's name from ever being mentioned on their station because of the way he ruined their football. Scotland has since been using indigenous coaches and Scotland has really moved up FIFA rankings, even beating France home and away in the process.

You all should examine yourselves and see if you are not like the NFA; always believing that the foreigner is better than Nigerians

Is this good news? I am not really sure. I was hoping Berti Vogts will be the manager for some time. I believe what we really need is continuity. I do agree that Vogts is technically lacking and very indecisive particularly after we were playing against 10 men. My worry is that the next coach will be of the same calibre and so we are back to square one. Managing the Nigerian team is no more seen as a high profile job because of the baggage that comes along with the job. I'll wait first to see we the next manager is before i celebrate,  or weep.
