This qualifies for a buy back from carfax, however although carfax gives it a clean bill of health, it points out that the car has been registered in a county where FEMA declared as Flood Disaster Area, remember Hurricane Katrina?

As this might be a very high number, there are still good looking and well maintained cars that are still running with more miles than that. Today, @ yahoo news, it is reported of a guy you put a million miles on a pickup truck, with over 300 oil changes.
Having said that, i believe it all boils down to how well and where the car is maintained.

A rebuilt title is another name or synonym for Salvage title.  Some state declare as rebuilt and others as salvage.  The rebuilt is just a polished name.  It's not worth the investment because on full disclosure, you can't sell the vehicle at even half of its depreciated value.  I heard from someone that junk vehicles don't even cost a thing as they are due to be crushed for recycling.  From my years of discipline, there is no such thing as rebuilding a vehicle.  Vehicles are put together through production systems using automotion and computer integrated manufacturing and are fit to specified precision.  To be sold as new, there is a level of perfection that outlives the vehicle itself.  When it's been in a wreck, there is a lot of displacements (with reference to initial position and spec) and the affected area or in extreme cases entire vehicle will need to go through its entire manufacturing process to put it as par to its initial state.  It cost a lot of money and not worth any form of investment. 

Collision technology is an expensive and lucrative business but not meant for the masses.  It is intended to restore cars that are ostenstatious not general or everyday-use cars.  It will be worth the money in the long-run because people tend to keep such vehicles.  People will abuse anything.
